• Can not activate Illustrator CS3

  I tried to address this issue through the Adobe support chat service, but they sent me here. I posted on this subject on 1 November (see Re: attempts to activate Illustrator CS3 are unsuccessful, following the instructions in the installation instructions app, phone's instructions and website.)

  Here's a review of my problem: I have a stand-alone Illustrator CS3, not all of the CS3 package. The installation disk installs successfully, I entered the serial number on the disc, and it seems to be accepted (a large green check mark), and I can launch the application.

  But the means provided to activate the license failed. Online activation reached a site does not work. The activation of the phone it responds with a message to go to adobe.com/go/activations in this place, there is no discussion nor the link to one of how to activate the components other than activation CS3 online.

• Impossible to update to Illustrator CS3

  Adobe Updater tells me that my software needs an update so I have conscientiously let it download what he wants. It starts the installation and then crashes. He gets 80 to 90 percent by installing the update for Illustrator (13.0.1) and everything is there. I let it run all night and it was just where I left the previous night. I can quit the installer to update without having to force it to quit. Tried to launch Illustrator and it wouldn't start. Gets the display open and closes unexpectedly.   Your patch seems to be failing because the owner of the file to the following location is not prepared properly.

  / Applications/Adobe Illustrator CS3/Adobe Illustrator.app/Contents/Resources/AMT/application.sif

  (ctrl + click on Adobe Illustrator.app and choose display the contents of the Package to view the files inside the app)

  Correct the owner/group should solve this problem, or simply rename that file to something else to say xapplication.sif, then manually run the update.

  I have some problems with moving to illustrator cs3 license, can you please reset the computer already attributed so I can activate it on another.

  I tried the support chat and they all said they can't do that because that is an older program.

  If you talked about nothing else that the reset, they will make you immediately... sad but so.  If they turn you away, and you don't ask only the reset, you happen to have a volume license?  If so, they are unable to help with that.

• I can not save or print with Illustrator CS3

  Illustrator CS3 worked fine on my old laptop... until the death of this laptop.

  So, I installed it on the laptop replacement, but I can't save or print my work, making the program useless.
  I can open documents very well and do all the work I want to without any problem, but it is not good if I can't save or even printing.

  I just upgraded Windows 10, and after that the use of Illustrator cs3 for the first time discovered that I can't save or export files of any kind.

• Illustrator CS3 crashes when changing places during save or place. Mac, Yosemite

  After the update to Yosemite and fixing the original problem of not being able to open Illustrator (older Java installation). Now Illustrator crashes whenever I try to select a location to save the file. If I save without changing the location of the file is not a problem. Also, it crashes when I want to PLACE a file and I try to navigate to the location.

  MacBook Pro (2012), OSX 10.10.2 (Yosemite).

  Adobe Illustrator CS3 (Yes, I know).

  Change fonts doesn't seem to be a problem. Large files are OK. It is only when you navigate to a location using a drop-down menu in the SAVE AS or PLACE dialog box.

  Any ideas of what might be wrong?

  New information: I changed the format of the adobe dialog box and it solved my problem. I'm leaving HERE in the case that everyone is facing it. However, I wouldn't mind know why it will not work the OS dialog box.

• Illustrator CS3 crashes after upgrade to Yosemite

  I just upgraded to Yosemite on my Macbook 2010 pro.  Everything seems to work great except Adobe Illustrator CS3.  The rest of the suite Adobe creative works great - photoshop, Indesign etc but not illustrator.  When I launched the application after the upgrade, I was asked to install a Java Update I did, I raised then Illustrator, he opened the window initialization and looked like it was going to work but it froze and I had to force quit.  Now, it is not passed the window initialization and does not open.  I cleaned the cache of police and I started my mac in safe mode, illustrator works in this mode, but when I start again as usual it still does not work here.  I tried to find that the users preferences file, so I can remove it, but I can't find this file and not really sure if this is what I have to do to get it working anyway!  Unfortunately I do not have installation disks therefore am not able to uninstall and reinstall the Suite.  If anyone can give me help I would be very grateful!  Earlier, I am very frustrated and wish that I had never updated!  Thank you in advance and thank you for taking the time to read my thread.

  I also had problems with Adobe Illustrator CS3 and Yosemite. After the upgrade, I installed Java for OS X 2014-001, as suggested by others. It seemed to work (sometimes), but when I opened Illustrator for the 2nd time it could not open. Illustrator open without crashing, but she has not shown all the menus, if I open a .ai file file is load and display on the screen, but I couldn't click on the window (not responding). This essentially useless Illustrator. I tried the following:

  • Re-Setup
  • Install Java for OS X 2014-001
  • Police of cleaning cache
  • The permissions checking
  • Install other versions of Java (JRE or JDK)

  Nothing seemed to help. Until at last 15 minutes ago I found the solution by chance:

  1. Open System Preferences > Java
  2. Wait for the Java Control Panel to load
  3. Open Adobe Illustrator (while keeping the window open Java Control Panel)

• Illustrator CS3 - Print - output - allow me to select color separations

  Hello

  I'm printing for the first time.  The process of preparing should be really simple right?  Separate the layers of color, using Illustrator, then print each layer on transparent sheets.  Well, I'm about to lose my mind.

  The image is CMYK, it is a unique spot color (I think) which is red and the contours are black.  The printer is a Canon ix6500.

  I can't separate the colors in Illustrator CS3?  Why?  When you select Print > output > Mode > it won't allow me to select the halftone colors.

  I tried to solve this problem by selecting the printer > Adobe Postscript and PPD > Canon ix6500 series.  It allows me to select the colors dithered, but then it will not print, it only saves it in PDF format and print such what.

  Help, please!  Any advice would be appreciated!  I'm going out of my mind here!

  I found the solution! So here are the steps, I hope people out there could benefit from this :-)

  This is what worked for me using a Mac and a non-postscript (Canon iX6540), Illustrator CS6 printer, PostScript known as Scribus downloaded software.  My drawing was created in Illustrator and all colors have been Pantone solid coated spot colors.

  These are the specifications that must be selected in the print dialog box:

  General

  • Predefined print: custom
  • Printer: Adobe PostScript file
  • PPD: Lisanet PDFwriter

  Output

  • Mode: Separations (host-based)
  • Ink Options panel can present spot colors that appear in your design.

  Then you save it :-)  This will save as a PostScript file.  To open it, you will need a software PostScript.  One who seems to have done the trick is to Scribus.

  Was there an answer as to why difinitive Illustrator CS3 (part of the Design Standard package) could not open in Snow Leopard 10.6.4? I just migrated to Snow Leopard, which was on a machine that I have not touched since almost a year and discovery Illustrator CS3 cash trying to open it. InDesign and Photoshop work perfectly.

  I searched the forum for possible answers, but this question goes back far enough, since I left later to discover the problem.

• Paste from Microsoft Word into Adobe Illustrator... problem

  Hello gang, I am a professional Letterer drawn and I recently decided to upgrade using TextEdit to use Microsoft Word for all of my copy paste script that I have to do.

  In TextEdit, when I copy a page from a comic script it will be then paste into Adobe Illustrator beautifully. Retains formatting very well and line breaks (can't remember makes bold or in italics, but good). However, when I paste from the Word version of the same script, all line breaks disapear, leaving me with a big block of text, making it difficult for me to easily find the dialogue used in the page.

  Does anyone have a solution for this? Is this a known problem with Word? I can't find anything on the net.

  I'm using Word 11 for Mac version 14.2.1 I think it's and Adobe Illustrator CS3 for Mac.

  When I tried to place a 12-page Word doc in Illustrator CS5, similarly said John_Danek, I could see a small sign on the bottom right of the text box. If you double-click this text box, you can see page 2 of the doc. Similarly, you can view all the pages of your Word document in Illie.

  OR

  Register your content in a PDF and then place the PDF in Illustrtaor. This will help you retain formatting as well as allows you to select the page numbers in your document that you want to place.

• Illustrator CS3 does not open?

  I'm unable to launch Illustrator (CS3/Mac OSX) and trying to start I get an error message saying "Unable to set a maximum number of files to open." I got software for almost 3 years and have never had a problem. Can someone advise on how I could solve this?

• Even the mapping on an object 3d in Illustrator CS3

  Having a little bit of a problem here - I created illustrations for a display and, to illustrate this point, I am doing 3 comp in illustrator CS3.

  I created a descendant of the shape of the object that I then extrude and map image to-this is where the problem arises. Illustrator seems "bouquet" the image mapped around the points where the curves are more crowded (probably due to the increase of the vertices it) instead of mapping evenly around the surface. This causes a rather undesirable distortion of the image that ruins the effect!

  Can someone tell me a way to avoid this?

  Horizontal distortion is due to the anchorPoints curve handles to define the surface.

  Yepp, exactly. Unequal intermediate nodes on the spline... To HAVE it bad has no tools to 'Rebuild curves' as ca or 3D programs. Will arrange in a little.

  HEY EVERYONE, I NEED A TRIAL OF ILLUSTRATOR CS3 BECAUSE MY BOYFRIEND BOUGHT ILLUSTRATOR CS3 A WHILE AGO, BUT HE NEVER USED IT SO I BOUGHT IT OUT OF HIM. I NEED THE TRIAL IN ORDER TO FINISH INSTALLING IT AND THEN UNINSTALL IT AND INSTALL THE ONE I BOUGHT

  At least it wasn't "BOLD", Scott. Anyway have you tried the Script Clean CS3 from the Adobe site? This should get rid of any problems with parts of a test facility.
