I didn't know that it would take all of my emails from my Aol account. Emails are in my windows mail inbox but they are very important and I need it in my Aol pronto account. I plan not using windows mail at all because it did not work with my other email provider. Is there any other way, in addition to passing all the emails to get back them on my Aol Inbox?   My people lock their laptop low last night as usual.  After starting it this morning, they noticed their entire desktop has changed, the background image, icons, resolution, shortcuts that have been pinned to the taskbar have deleted and all their stored bookmarks, etc. in their web browsers have completely disappeared.  They use Mozilla FireFox and IE 8, in both cases the browsers act as they are newly installed and being used for the first time.  FireFox asked if they wanted him to be their default browser - which it was.

  You should be able to use the system restore to get it back as it was, but what caused it is a difficult question.  To use system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore. Click on the box that says show more restore points.

  From your post, looks almost as the phone somehow got restored back to factory settings.  If that happened, the system restore won't help.  Is it possible that someone else started this laptop and fooled with it?  Another possibility could be a virus or some form of malware.  These bad guys can make computers do things strange and wild.  Here are some things you might check.

  Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode. To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode. Then run a complete system scan.

  You can check the corrupted system files. Open an administrator command prompt and run SFC if the above does not help. Click START, and then type CMD in the search box, right-click on CMD. EXE and click run as administrator. Then, from the command prompt type sfc/scannow.

  Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log. To make, click Start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools. Once in Event Viewer system log-click and scroll entries looking for these "error" with indicator see if you can find guidance on where the problem may be.
