iMac mid-2010: list of compatible HARD drive

Hello

I need to replace the hard drive of my iMac 21.5 mid 2010. I thought that any SATA drive would work, but after studying a bit I discovered the issue of thermal sensor. So my question is: are there at - there somewhere a list of compatible drives? I can't find any information on this subject.

I'm not going to replace the drive myself, but I would like to know the options.

Thank you

Luis

You don't necessarily have to get a special player.  There are interface cables

available that have a temperature probe attached to it.  See:

http://eShop.MacSales.com/item/OWC/DIDIMACHDD09/

This cable simply connects between the new drive and the cable of the iMac.

Using this cable, you can install any available hard drive.

  • iMac mid-2010 for one SSD HARD drive replacement

    Hello

After reflection, (mainly in the meantime my principalement en attendant mon iMac iMac starts!), I decided to replace the HDD with a SSD. After having done some research and I watch YouTube videos, I'm not sure if I have bought the right tools for the job. Could someone please help me and let me know if I'm not on the right track here.

The iMac in question is a model 27 "2010.

Here's what I have on order:

I also ordered suction cups and relevant screwdrivers.

I intend to completely remove the current HD and its replacement by the new SSD. Am I right assuming that I will just remove current thermal sensor cable and replace it with the one OWC? I'm not 100% on this one.

    Cheers in advance

    Ian

Yes, you just remove the thermal sensor and place the OWC in line sensor (the sticker pad can be placed on the support of 2, 5-2, 5 (as the SSD will not have a lot of heat).  The longer a cable must be re-attached the logic board.

The only suggestion I have would be - it probably need not SATA cables for this-> upgrade SSD HARD drive, thermal line sensor is long enough - in fact, too long that I had to press them to be shaped in the iMac.  Unless you plan to add other SSD in the system, since the iMac 2010 with SATA 2 (3 GB/s speed).

    Good luck

  • List of compatible hard drives for Lenovo Y580?

It seems that my hard drive is in very poor condition. I can't start or do something with it.

Partitions 1, 3 and 4 are readable using the partition 2 (partition Windows), command prompt (890 ~ GB) is not readable. CHKDSK has not helped either. His State of health is red.

Can you please let me know where I can find a list of hard drives that work with Y580?

In addition, with your past experience, hard drives are recommended?

Would my current help from hard drive to get its status of formatting back to green? If Yes, what is the best way to format the hard disk of 1 TB?

    Hi Zetret,

This model will support any model of HARD drive, as long as it has the same size and dimensions to fit the case.

  • I need to upgrade my Mac (MacBook white unibody mid 2010) with a SSD (and iMac mid-2010) and the RAM and SSD

I need to upgrade my Mac (white unibody MacBook mid-2010) with a SSD (and iMac mid-2010) and the RAM and SSD: I look to buy upgrades site Crucial and OWC site and there is a little difference, in terms of money: it's better to buy the Crucial site or OWC site.

MacBook, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

    < re-titled by host >

They have good tools to find compatible parts for your Mac models.  The OWC took is here

    http://eShop.MacSales.com/MyOWC/

OWC tends to have the most detailed information on the Mac.  If I look to the top of the part to OWC and review specifications.  OWC offers often information based on the Mac-specific tests.  If Crucial offer something similar for a substantially lower price, buy it from Crucial.  I'm sure they have a refund is not political, if a part they say is compatible.  I bought the RAM and SSD both Crucial and OWC.  From my experience, be it high quality.

For the 2010 iMac, OWC also offers a "kit" (with the tools and support) to replace the hard drive of 3.5 inches with a 2.5-inch SSD.  Eventually, if it's a 27-inch iMac, I think that you can Add the SSD instead of replace the hard drive.  And they have self-produced how-to videos on the process, related to many of their lists of products.  OWC provides a lot of information with added value and service for Mac users.

OWC also offers kits to replace the optical drive on some Macs (including MacBooks) with an SSD (as a secondary internal drive).

  • My imac crashed and required a new hard drive. I have downloaded lightroom again but my library of images is gone

My imac crashed resulting in a new hard drive. I downloaded Lightroom 4 according to the previous disc but none of my old photos are here

    Hello

You must copy the library Lightroom (.lrcat) file and the original images from your Time Machine backup disk. If you have not created a backup on a separate time Machine unit (or other backup processes) of your iMac, then you're probably out of luck, unless the defective hard drive can be recovered.

  • Compatible hard drives for Portege 3480CT

    Hello

I have a Portege 3480CT and I need to replace its 12 GB (IBM & reg Travelstar) drive hard internal since the former on a developed bad blocks. Now, I assumed that it would be relatively simple, but I was wrong.

In any case, I got a replacement 2.5 "HD (this time a Hitachi Travelstar, 20 GB drive), but I couldn't make it work. I ran the program from IBM/Hitachi diagnosis and while the old 12 GB HDD is detected and removed ok, the 20 GB does not even get detected (i.e., seems that nothing is on the line of the IDE).

It was suggested to me by IBM and Hitachi that there is a list of compatibility to their hard drives, and may not be supported (http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/compatibility.htm), but I could not find my disc on their list (model is HTS424020M9AT00). Basically, what I want to know is what drives * are * compatible or what my problem with the laptop is otherwise.

For more info, when I try to install Win2k, I get an ArcRead failure, probably because he thinks that the drive does not exist.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I guess that there is problem with drive HARD and false parameter who decide if the HARD drive is the master or slave.

In my opinion you should contact the Service partner to ask them which HDD is suitable for your device. You can also check on the net and picking up some information because there are a lot of different suppliers where you can buy the HARD drive. I also found information that it is possible to use the 40 GB HARD drive for your unit, but it must be built in by seller.

    Thank you wb2001,

A note aside before my supplementary question: Pavlov studies were on classical conditioning.  He used the meat powder in the dogs mouth to stimulate salivation canine combined with the sound of a Bell when the dogs became finally conditioned.  Once conditioned, the dogs would salivate upon hearing the Bell.  What you describe with the reward for behavior is the conditioning operating.  So what you want to say in the future be more precise, it's "I believe in right to Skinner" like B.F. Skinner.

Be-that-as-TI-may, stick to your reference to Pavlov for now wb2001, you're a good answer away from getting the meat powder.

    (1) I replace a HDD of 80 GB, 127 GB would be just peachy.

    (2) I know that XP is to be DX would be next year.  Being attached financial short term, I just need this machine to putter along until the end of this year.

    (3) so I'm looking for a refurbished drive EIDE/Ultra style on eBay or Amazon, etc.

  • Compatible hard drives for acer aspire 5749?

Hi could someone tell me what that hard drives are compatible with an acer aspire 5749 please?

There are 20 OEM hard drives specified for your model.
They are all 2.5 "SATA 5400 RPM so I suspect that you can use with this specification.
In addition, you can use the same technique, but the 7200 RPM for the best performance, but this would reduce your operating time of the battery.

Furthermore, an SSD is perfectly acceptable as suggested philetus. (More expensive but very quickly!)

Be careful of the USB FFC cable that runs through the HARD disk - it will be deleted/replaced and is easily damaged.

  • Add to this play list not available hard drive external

Because of a move, I recently spent from a desktop to a Vista laptop hand without as storage space. I have all my old content on an external hard drive, but when I try to play music files in Windows Media Player, the only way I can open is them is by clicking on the individual files and add them to the current playlist... in other words, I can't right-click on the folder of the artist and play everything. I added all the files in my library, but it is not affecting the folder options. I copied some things on the record my music on the laptop and I don't have the option here, but I don't have the space to copy everything like that. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi - I think I see what you mean... If I'm wrong in my interpretation, it is probably because the music on your external drive folder must optimize. Select the parent folder (best to create one - I call mine x-music - if it does not already exist)-right click and select Properties, and then on the Customize tab as shown here by selecting 'Music' in the menu dropdown. There is a box hidden under the drop-down list in this image which needs checking (apply to subfolders) Finally click 'Apply'-'OK' and then you should get the opportunity to "Play with WMP" when you click on a folder.

NB - it may take a little time to apply the changes.

    Ric's soon.

There is no easy way since the only organizer knows what is indexed in the catalog.

You can use the backup / restore process to move your library to a new drive or a master folder. Only the files in the catalog will be there. You can remove all media files from the original location via the Explorer / Finder. This will take care of duplicates and missing files catalog.

Another way would be to work from selected records.

You run the process of "import" of a given folder. If there are new or old files not those registered, they will be added to the catalog, others, already in the catalog will be ignored. The 'batch import' should be what you want to delete. It also works with files in the subfolders of the selected one.

It is also possible to move files to a folder selected to an another new void; you select all in the thumbnail pane (not folders on the left panel) and use the command move or drag and drop the thumbnail space into the empty destination folder on the folders on the left panel. What will remain will be the 'imported step. '
