Installation of MacOS Sierra is not possible (no boot volume)
Hello everyone
I have an iMac with the following characteristics:
and I'm trying to install the new Sierra of MacOS. But everytime I open the installation program, it tells me that I can't use the partition called 'Mac OS X', which is my main Mac partition on my drive of fusion, for the installation of Sierra because it cannot be used as a boot volume. Of course, it's completely absurd because I started 'Mac OS X' volume whenever I boot my Mac!
This screenshot shows the installer and the associated message:
Could someone help me please? I really want to do a clean install of all and that spend hours to restore my previous settings! Please...?
Best regards
Martin
Hi mpauli,
I see that the Sierra of macOS Installer gives you a message saying "this disk cannot be used to start your computer." In order to get this problem solved, I suggest you follow through the troubleshooting steps in the link below.
See you soon.

Is it possible to reinstall or reset the internal microphone of an iMac?
Some background information:
27 "iMac 5K (end of 2015) running OS X El Capitan (when the problem started), to give birth to Sierra of MacOS. Also have a Bootcamp with Windows installed 10 partition.
A month ago, when under OS X, I noticed the internal mic produced some static when you try to use it. Audio messages in voicemails would be static instead of my voice. The weird part? If I switched to Windows 10, the internal microphone works without any problem. I can ask questions of Cortana, I can record voice messages and they read without static electricity. In fact, no matter what I use the microphone internal to in Windows, it works perfectly.
Sierra of MacOS is out, so I hope that this update may be a BONE would settle the matter. Nope. Internal microphone still does not work on MacOS, but still works perfectly in Windows 10. It is because of this that I am positive the internal MIC is not broken or have a loose wire.
I went through a few steps to try and fix the internal microphone, such as resetting the SMC... but nothing has worked. Any help or ideas on how to solve this problem would be greatly greeted.
Hello dear user
Thank you to use Apple support communities
My recommendation would be to take it to an official Apple store, workers are espceialists, they might be able to fix, make sure also that you have never removed the water on top of the mic. In my iPad, a drop of water directed the music video of speaker if she never exceeds 30% volume of the music.
But if you don't have a store nearby, uninstall malware and unnecessary software, make sure that you don't have a program that allows you to change your sound (like Skype) systems, if you don't do that this program has no impact on your microphone. (I used to have Skype but it also makes audio cut so terrible, piano music sounded like heavy metal music, so heavy metal music was like to...) I don't know what to say.)

Impossible to install 10 Windows via BootCamp on iMac 5K with Fusion Drive
Hello
I tried to install Windows 10 Professional via Boot Camp on my iMac 5K end of 2015 (version OS X 10.11) with a disc of the Fusion 2 to for about a week now. Right now I'm on my 4th or 5th try on Windows 10 installation on the iMac because each installation fails gives me an error that the drive is not formatted correctly or he couldn't find the score even though I have the selected in the list of available drives. I even went up to both to run the commands of the PART of the DISK from the command prompt in the area of troubleshooting Installer Windows 10 to format drive to NTFS instead of FAT32.
Here are some of the mistakes that I received:
1 Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. This space of hard disk is formatted with a version not support the NTFS file system.
2. we could not create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information, see the Setup logs files.
I used the Boot Camp configuration application (version 6.0.1) to create a USB key after you download the image ISO from Microsoft. The USB flash drive that creates the installer will start the iMac, but I can't get past the screen "where do you want to install Windows? I tried the merge disk partitioning ways without success, beforehand, because I thought that it could cause a problem. He was left as a full drive 2 TB, or divide the flash part away and seen the almost 2 to rotation and the merger of 128 GB (flash) portion and lucky either.
I'm full of ideas on what to try... I have loaded Windows 7 Professional via Boot Camp several times and have never encountered a problem with Boot Camp with 10 Windows so far.
Workaround I found that worked for me was to install
Win7 Pro 64 bit. Then created just the Bootcamp driver USB key
(no operating system installer). Next I went to do the upgrade of Win10 of
in the environment of Win7. FWIW, I also chose to not save
anything (new installation).
You will need to keep the installation to make sure that you press the Option
key with multiple reboots (why Windows still insists on this)
and select the Windows volume to boot from. Once all the nonsense restarts
were carried out and finally Windows was running, I plugged it in training camp
driver USB key, install hardware drivers and everything was good to go.
Now, it was on an old MacBook Pro, which does not officially have the Bootcamp
support for WIn10 if the material is quite capable.

My iMac freezes during a turn on and between two switching user accounts
My 2011 iMac has been crashing for weeks. Usually, it freezes when I turn it on, connect to switching user accounts or user accounts.
I upgraded to Sierra yesterday and I continued using for hours and it was fine.
I turned on today; some of the Apple applications do not work... Mail, App Store, Safari (this is what I tried). Responsible mail application, saw a list of emails, but when I click on a particular message, the message will not load. Safari cannot load a Web page at all (I'm now using Chrome). AppStore cannot load anything too.
I asked for help here before the crash but I was reluctant to share the report of being. Now, I've read about it and understand how it works. The report says "failed".
Appreciate the help of the community. Thank you.

Trusteer Endpoint Protection (2016-09-20) [Support]
The following may be useful: https://www.trusteer.com/support/uninstalling-rapport-mac-os-x
It is slow since updated for Sierra.
A part of which is related to the upgraded Photos app. If you have lots of photos (in thousands), it will take a lot of time for it reach to analyze your photo library. The best thing to do is to let him finish, as long as it could be. 1 hour per 1000 photographs as a rough estimate. When it is finally over, the performance of your Mac will be back to normal.
Definitely get rid of "Trusteer" however. As a needless "anti-virus" garbage is still installed on your Mac, it is unreasonable to expect it to work the way it was designed to work. Safari won't work. Mail will not work. A lot of other things that you really need to work just won't work. Please read of effective defenses against software malware and other threats.
DuckDuckGo - DuckDuckGo - http://duckduckgo.com (2015-07-11)
You don't need the Extension Safari DDG, since DDG has been integrated natively in Safari for some time. Select the Safari menu > Preferences > Search and select the dropdown Search engine DuckDuckGo . Then, select Extensions, select the extension DuckDuckGo and Uninstall.
Leaving the current Extension is OK but it does nothing.
Request for WDSecurityHelper (Security.app/Contents/WDSecurityHelper.app/Applications/WD)
I don't know what it is. If you do not either, get rid of it. At least delete your login items.

Cannot install windows via bootcamp (Imac Mid 2011)
Hi, I struggled for the last 2 days and can't seem to find how to create a windows partition and installed it.
Note: I have a 27 inch mid 2011 Imac and run MacOS Sierra 10.12.
I have problems with bootcamp especially at the stage of the process USB drive.
1. I do not understand why Bootcamp assistant 2 display only tasks being #1 download the windows software and #2 install windows 10 when all apple support pages show 3 different tasks available as here https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205016http ://
2. I prefer to install windows 7 on my partition, bootcamp, however 'install windows 10', which means that I can't install an older version on my partition? I tried to install windows 7 via a win7 .iso file AND a win10 .iso but none of them works.
3. whenever I try to install windows, the system do not recognize my USB (it would be with .iso win10 associated drivers or Win7 .iso. + drivers associated) and constantly asking for a disc to be inserted.
My USB has been formatted through disk as MS-DOS (FAT32) volume and all utility used .iso comes from Microsoft. I don't understand why I can't have my. ISO recognized by the system.
Help please :)

This is normal and expected behavior. Your 2011 Mac does not support the USB Windows installation. You must use a physical DVD burned ISO. Your Mac does not officially support Windows 10. The ISO files are available at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/home .
Documentation on Apple's site shows not all models. Please visit https://help.apple.com/bootcamp/mac/5.0/help/ for an older version (FC5).

History:
- My iMac 27' was overwhelming at all times. Do not reboot, I have to unplug the computer 15 sec to turn it back on. Started about three months ago.
- Called the Apple service, re-installed El Capitan. Re-installed my apps: notability, Google Reader, the drop-down list.
- My computer crashed again.
- I took it to an Apple store, they checked the material: no damage. They have reinstalled Sierra. Worked fine in the store.
- I reinstalled my applications at home, office, notability, Dropbox, Google Drive.
- Crushed again.
- I've searched this forum. I was asked to perform "EtreCheck", I enclose you a new report here. I've been told clear Dropbox, Google drive and notability. Yes, I did.
- Today, I opened 'Photos' and my computer crashed again. I have more 15 000 photos in the cloud.
I came to believe that there is a problem with any application connected to iCloud.
I am a heavy user of "notoriety". (for the school). I can use very well in my iPad, but it would be nice if I could use it in my computer too.
Help, please

Not sure this is the problem, but it:

indicates that the Sierra is trying to optimize your photo library and may be busy for awhile. It was reported in the other Mac after update for Sierra. I would give it a bit more time if you have several GB of images.

Hi there champrider,
It sounds like your computer guard stop on its own, and the only way you can get it to come is to unplug for a while. If you get some sort of error when the computer restarts, take a look at this article:
OS X El Capitan: If your Mac restarts and a message
If this isn't the case, then I suggest starting in safe mode to delete a few caches as well as system-level to check and fix if necessary startup disk.
OS X El Capitan: start in safe mode
If the problem persists then I would then reset the SMC on your computer:
Reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac.
Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

Disk utility first aid operation was unsuccessful and iMac freezes when it is reloaded
iMac Intel Core (2010) 320 GB 4 GB of RAM. Running OS 10.11.6
Started computer, white screen appeared with the icon of a folder with an exclamation mark in the folder. Nothing else to do, so restarted iMac, hold down the command and 'r' to open disk utility.
Ran first aid, recommended "incorrect block are 1172 instead of 601. File system check or repair a failure. Operation failed. "" "First aid running not a, if possible save the data on this volume. Click OK to continue. »
Discount to zero is successful, but screen is frozen with no access to the hard drive. I can't open the preferences system due to frost.
The circle of rainbow of spinning of death continues to run so I am not able to get any other repair mechanism.
Anyone have any ideas on how to proceed? The iMac is obviously not able to boot to the hard drive.
This probably means the HD has failed and must be replaced. How you proceed, is to take the computer to your local Apple authorized provider who can help replace the disk and get you back in business. If you are not aware of any local could be held, please click the following link to start to find one close to you.

iMac 2010 slower that a turtle stuck in the mud after having swallowed the glue
Since upgrading to OS X El Capitan (from factory 10.6 Snow Leopard), my poor iMac have been incredibly slow. To the point where eventually it still would not start.
Since I have everything of importance on an external hard drive, I just went ahead and started from the install disc, go for a clean install.
It took several attempts for the system to boot from disk (starting with C) before finally reading the disk and load the language selection screen. It took almost three days to go through the own installation process. And I mean everyday! Each step takes several hours. I had two beds in this horrible process!
Finally, I registered and through on the desktop. How he was always slow that I felt a stop down was in order. I left for the day. I just go back and press the power button and watched the gray screen with spinner logo and daisy apple during the last 30 minutes.
Does anyone have any ideas why this might be. I appreciate, it's a six year old machine, but my experience with Apple computers over the past 15 years has been such that I don't expect to die after only six years.
My guess is that it is a problem of hard disk of a certain type? But if someone could point me in the right direction, I'd be happy.
Thanks in advance.
It should of course not take three days to install OS X, even if the Mac is a former model. My 2011 mini ran Mac OS X El Capitan (and currently macOS tracks Sierra) very well, and it has the lowest overall performance compared to an iMac of 2010.
It took several attempts for the system to boot from the disk (starting with C)
El Capitan is not installed on a drive, if you are saying you reinstalled Snow Leopard first? That is what is running slowly or not at all?
Here are a few things to try...
Because you have previously installed El Capitan, depending on how you launched the "clean install", its partition Recovery HD hidden is maybe still there internal hard disk. Press command-R to start. Here's more information
On OS X Recovery - Apple Support
Alternatively, you can start with the Option key to display the Boot Manager screen, which gives you the choice of available startup disk. See if Recovery HD is an available choice.
If you can start ("Recovery") as described in the linked document, run disk utility and Erase the internal disk volume. Then reinstall OS X. This gives you El Capitan directly, instead of first Snow Leopard install.
If the internal drive is actually defective, and you have an external USB drive that can be erased, you can (temporarily) install the OS on this external drive. You should unplug your drive with the user data (if not already done), to avoid accidentally erasing. You can do this installation of the recovery screen (if you are able to start up the Recovery HD). If not, you need to install Snow Leopard, first (if everything goes much faster than three days). Whatever it is, run disk utility (from the menu bar if you have reinstalled Snow Leopard). Select the external target drive in utility box disc and Erase completely. Then install OS X on this external drive.
After installation and reboot, you can reconnect to another external drive with user data and use this way until you replace the internal drive. If you have installed Snow Leopard, he move to El Capitan, using the normal procedure.

iMac running HOT after Sierra installed
Someone at - he had a problem or noticed that their Mac running hot since the installation of Sierra?
In addition, 2 days ago, I got a notice that I had short-term memory application and iTunes and Safari have been paused. It was not all applications running overnight and I have 20 GB of RAM and it showed 18,86 GB have been used. I had to basically force iTunes and Safari to close, and then restart the iMac to free the memory and be able to access the computer.
Never had these problems before the Sierra has been installed. The iMac never ran "to hot' (more than 121 degrees last night - due close to refresh it).
So if anyone ran into any of these questions or knows a solution I would be very happy.
Thank you
SAL
Difficulty installing Sierra
Try each of them in order. A test to see if the computer works properly:
- Reset the PRAM
- Reset the controller (SMC) system management
- Start the computer in Safe Mode, and then restart normally. It's slower than a standard home.
- Repair the disk by booting to the HD recovery immediately after that the chime press the command and R keys until the Utility Menu appears. Choose disk utility and click on the continue button. Select the withdrawal (usually Macintosh HD) volume entry of the list to one side. Click first aid button in the toolbar. Wait the fact button appear. Disk utility and return in the Utility Menu. Restart the computer from the Apple Menu.
- Reinstall OS X by booting from the Recovery HD using the command and R keys. When the Utility Menu appears, select reinstall OS X and then click on the continue button.

iMac 2012 - sierra installation failed, caught in the loop, please help
Hey everybody.
That's what I have:
iMac 27 "mid-2011. He had on El Capitan.
This iMac contains two hard drives and drive superdrive.
A disc is 256 GB SSD and the other a regular 2 TB internal HARD drive.
As SSD is faster that I keep my OS X and programs on this SSD drive, all the other stuff like photos, music, documents, are put on the classic 2 TB HDD.
This is what happened:
Attempt of I:
Everything was going well until the installer has discovered that the SSD did not have a sufficient space to install. I quit the installer, the option pop up, I called "Startup Volume" has chosen my SSD and restarted it. Has been 2 attempts, if I'm not wrong, but worked. I killed and moved the files, I think now would be enough disk space on my SSD tried the Sierra ad install again.
--> Attempt II:
This time Sierra Installer arrived at the stage language choose where he welcomed and asked to choose the language. The next screen it tells me once again: not enough space, the bigger internal drive offers enough, but I don't want that. So, I tried the same exit to leave the program and launch then boot Volume installation...
... that in trouble:
My SSD drive now no longer appears in this window of the boot Volume.
When you try to access the boot Volume it will skip in the app language choose, sometimes shows this window choice animation multilingual, sometimes simply stays gray but will show when moving the mouse upwards arrow to the top of the screen, choose language drops in when I try to open the boot Volume after leaving the installation program. In addition, the language choice (can not be exited by cmd Q is said by the way) seems to open before the boot app Volume and the boot volume app does not appear my drive more-> Catastropheeeeee!
Also option to restart regular off the menu above will not help. After about half to the top of the boot of the SIERRA Installer keeps new hindsight. No chance to reboot to my previous El Capitan based OSX. I am bound to this loop.
Is turned off, wait and switch back to does not help, even in a loop.
Then I tried also open disk utility, I also have an external time machine backup drive connected. Tried this way to restore my SSD of time machine, which fails on every attempt.
I'm totally caught up.
Help, please!
just in case.
I did the job.
Launched my iMac in disc mode on my mac pro book. A few items to the disc hard iMac deleted, then restarted, macos sierra resumed and concluded correctly, in other words: all and working again!
Even a message to Apple to look bad when insufficient disk space is detected, see my first post, thanks.
Best regards
Max
