IMAQdx manual exposure setting is malfunctioning

Hello

I use MAX Version 4.6.0f1 and you want to integrate our camera as NOR-IMAQdx device.

It works fine, except when I change the exposure manually.

When I write 0.125 (seconds), MAX must send-3 (2exp(-3) == 0.125) of the

IAMCameraControl-Interface of my Capture filter.

But I take the Max - 2 software. Is this a bug?

Thanks in advance.

Hi net_dev,

On some quick research, it seems that you are correct. I think IMAQdx uses a function of natural logarithm instead of the base 2 log.

I filed the 200481 CAR for the follow-up of this bug if you need to reference it. Note that this bug only affects DirectShow (usually USB) cameras - no other type of cameras use this interface.

Thank you

Eric

  • Where is the backlight-manual exposure control?

On my new SX520 Canon, I can't find a way to exposure compensation or even a simple backlight control. As I do much photography at the beach, backlight compensation is necessary.

As well as according to the manual, you just need to press on the +/-button on the back of the camera while in P mode (works in Av, Tv and M modes for) and then turn the dial to set in 1/3 increments.

  • Eurotherm 2404% manual power set point

I'm using the LabView ET24xx driver. It works fine if I want to set and control in automated mode. I'm looking for the ability to create a vi that allows me to switch to manual mode (able to do that) and adjust the set value (can't do it). The set point in Manual Mode is generally the percentage of power. I would like to be able to establish to anything other than 0% or 100%, however when I use the driver it does not appear as a method of manipulation of this. I know I'm missing something, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Robert. After a lot of research I found the solution:

Use the VI: ET24XX configure OP key parameters 2. VI

key point in the use of this VI. The power (or control) setting labeled power output target is in tenths. A value of 5 = 50%. A value of 0.5 = 5%. With this VI no value greater than 10 will work. The VI will timeout on the "Write" command, if the value is greater than 10. I don't know why this VI was established in this way. Remove the output target x 10 serving power and wiring of the power output target control directly in the table of generation within the VI allows a more intuitive entry of power, until we realize the value of the power output target is %.

  • Manual exposure with alpha channel

I have 3 shows a photo in Photoshop. I would like to manually mix the layers using an alpha channel (identify areas of exhibition as a channel of luminosity) and a layer mask. Firstly I have Ctrl-Click the RGB channel to make a selection for the first exhibition. I then create an alpha channel of this selection. After that I press ctrl-d to cancel the selection. I then select the layer I just create a channel with and then I alt-click on create a mask at the bottom that connects a black mask to this layer. Following that I will come back and ctrl + click the alpha channel or just load the selection, and then use the Brush tool (which I have reset several times) with a white foreground and black background, I paint in the underlying layer, however it does not work. Previously I could only paint in the layer that was selected by the alpha channel, but now the brush just exposes all the parts of the image even outside the selection. I noticed that if I manually magic wand parts of the picture and try to paint in the layer, it works, but using the alpha channel selection is not.  The Brush tool will not be forced to alpha channel selection, when it is trying to reveal the underlying layer with a mask of black layer applied.Untitled.png

Your selection is not pure & white black (completely hidden, or completely unmasked based on the limits of the mobile dots you see on the screen). If you save your selection as a channel by selecting select > Save selection..., you will see the alpha is composed of gray tones, which means that you can see the brush strokes (although slightly paler) appear outside the moving dotted line.

  • Exposure setting, control has disappeared

HI - for the first time using this - when I started using LR there was control of exposure to develop and the library. First of all that development has disappeared and now library disappeared also. What I do to make this go away?

    For module development:

    Windows => Ctrl + / 1

    Mac-online Cmd/1

    OR

Right-click on one of the other topics like tone curve Panel and make sure that there is a check mark for Basic.

To the library module, use the right click as described above.

I don't know what you're doing to cause these features to disappear. If it's any consolation, you're not alone. This is a frequent question on the forum.

  • Lightroom import minus 5 exposure setting?

Morning all, I have a strange problem when you import into Lightroom CC (2015.2.1).

I normally apply my own preset when importing my photos which auto tones and did some other things magical and wonderful, but after the last update all my photos are coming in black...

After a few trials and other research, if I apply AN adjustment preset, then pictures are having an exhibition less than 5... (where the black image)

The only way around this is for me to apply a 'RESET ALL' preset on import which means everything, it is zero, and then I can apply my screening later that works very well.

Anyone else having this problem, no matter what any advice on what could be the problem?

    Hi mannfilm!

    Thanks for posting.

I would like to ask a questions in order to get a better understanding of the issue and what can be the cause of this.

    1. When you look at distance window, the letter M appears indicating manual exposure is defined?
    2. What exposure values change?
    3. You have activated exposure Simulation?
    4. The resulting image appears different from the image you see in the window?

    Hi Edge!

    Thanks for posting.

It is not a setting that disables it.  This feature is more according to the distance that the body of the camera.  The remote control has a two-stage shutter button operation.  As a first step, it triggers the auto focus, and then in a second time, it releases the shutter.

  • Print area setting of the printer - brightness slider module

When I send my photos to the lab for printing, in order to obtain the final print to match the exposure on my screen, I have to increase the exposure in the develop module before rendering my last image to send to the lab.  In general, I add environ.4 to any exposure setting I already put in the develop module.  This usually gives me a perfect exhibition match.  Thereafter, I must then remember to adjust the exposure back on all my photos that I send to the lab.  Otherwise, I do sometimes exposure increase on a virtual copy, but then I have a ton of virtual copies extra clutter things.

I recently learned in the print module, can I increase the brightness with the brightness slider.  If I print to jpg in the print module and use the brightness slider, I could produce my lab files and eliminate 'cleansing' operations mentioned above.  However, I don't really know how the brightness setting printer slider relates to exposure of the develop module slider.  That is, what each cursor movements are considered as equivalent - if I normally increase exposure de.4 in the develop module, how can I increase the brightness slider worms in order to match that?  I would increase the brightness of 10, 15, 20 slider... ???   I have no idea!   How these two cursor relate?

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you!

    Bruce

PS. because I know someone will ask, YES, I have corrected my monitor color.  However, my screen is VERY bright and I worked with the CC seller to lower the brightness of my screen and 90 lumens, but it's still too light and we cannot safely he set lower without risking damage to the screen.  That's why I regret to make the manual exposure increase.

Rather than having to remember to reset the brightness, you can use the soft proof feature and create a virtual copy and reduce the brightness on the virtual copy. Then you can decide when / if to remove the virtual copies.

Welcome to the community of Sony Forums.

Set your camera A550 (M) manual exposure mode on the dial if you are shooting with a manual lens and an adapter. You should be able to shoot with your configuration.

  • How to set the contrast of the screen of the iMac?

Bought a new light to the office where I have the iMac 27 ". Unfortunately, the light produced by this new device shines more directly on the screen of the iMac, does the old light. Thus, when the light is on, the iMac adjusts the contrast of the screen so that the display appears quite washed out. When I turn on the light, the iMac readjusts the contrast to normal. (No, I can't adjust the position of the device, it is mounted directly on the desktop in the only possible way.)

This seems to be an automatic adjustment of the iMac. At least, I can't find any sort of manual for setting the contrast. Is it possible to do so. Create a new color profile? Another tool?

    Thank you!

    Steve,

You have a "automatically adjusts brightness" setting in system preferences > displays > display...?

Automatically adjust the brightness or Ambient light compensation (depending on your screen)

If your Mac has detection of ambient light, you can have the brightness of the screen automatically adjust according to the current light conditions.

  • How to read data from 16-bit unsigned IMAQdx?

I was using my firewire camera to take pictures in unsigned 16-bit grayscale and processing of these data in matlab. However, the data becomes incorrect when the integration time of the camera is great. I discovered that the reasons are: 1, IMAQdx decoded data monochrome 16-bit signed 16-bit, which returns a negative value if the amplitude of each pixel is greater than 32768.  2, IMAQdx automatically adds a constant, which is equal to the amplitude of the largest negative value pixel, to all the pixel values, to change the smallest value to zero, but this process ruin the rest of my data and makes them almost irreversible.  I think the only method could solve this problem is to try to do in labview read image form of unsigned data, but I don't know if it's possible, because it is not optional in IMAQdx manual.

    Any suggestion will be appreciated.

    Hi Hosni,

FireWire (especially earlier on) had some ambiguities on the endianness, signed-ness and depth of the pixel data that is returned. IMAQdx tries to take the best prognosis for 16-bit data using specific registers defined by the IIDC and other information she can deduct on the camera. However, sometimes these assumptions are incorrect. If you go to the acquiring of your camera attributes tab in MAX, you should be able to replace all these parameters correspond to what the camera expects its data should be interpreted.

  • Manual mode is fuzzy until after the autofocus mode

I recently bought a refurbished T5. I learned how to use manual mode, and I understand very well now (at least I think). However, I was a problem. I'm going to start shooting in manual mode (lens and body) and everything will be blurred - the image in the viewfinder that I take the picture and the resulting image. I'll then go in autofocus mode, and the image will have very similar parameters and get the Crystal. I'll then go back to manual mode with the same settings as I had the last time I was in manual mode, and the image is now perfectly clear as well through the viewfinder and the resulting image. If I have the correct settings, why not the picture will be clear the first time around? I'm doing something wrong or is there something wrong with the camera itself? Thanks in advance for any help!

I have included some images to help:

So I turn on my camera, the lens configuration and body in manual mode and take this picture. It is 1/80, f 5.6 and (self) ISO 2500.

Then I go my goal and my auto body and get this picture. It is 1/60 f5.6 and ISO 2000.

I then my goal and my body return to manual and get this picture at 1/80, f5.6, (auto) ISO 2500.

How the same settings can produce different images? Did I miss a step or something? Please let me know!

You seem to get the manual exposure mode mixed with the manual focus mode.  They are two different things. On the goal, when you switch to M, you use manual focus. You must turn the focus ring on the lens to focus. On the dial to camera mode, you change Aperture, shutter speed and ISO manually to chane exposure (brightness of the image).

The first time your goal is be blurred. After you return to auto, it twists the ring for you as it so now the lens is in short. Even after that you changed it to M, the lens is always point to the same object... If you aim now to something else more away or closer, then it will be fuzzy in M on the lens.

I recommend that you leave the lens on A. There is no reason to use the manual focus unless you need areal or you understand what you need to do.  Similarly, there is no real reason to use the manual exposure in order to use manual. Use it when you need which means that you must first understand what it can do for you. I recommend your use Av or Tv mode first before trying the M mode.
