importing photos from iphoto

Does anyone know why Organizer imports events from Iphoto but does meet all of the following photos with photos? Or am I useless?

Glad it helped you!

Yes, your masters will remain in iPhoto. Items will make a copy.

  • How to import photos from iPhoto to the Photos without losing the date structure

    Hey there,

Today, I realized that not all my photos to the Macintosh iPhotos Photos last year. At this point, I'm missing about 700 photos.

Is it possible to merge the iPhoto to the existing photo library library while keeping the structure of date? I tried just to drag some photos but they then imported as if they were taken today.

If possible, I want to keep the date structure so that all the photos that were taken at the same time will remain together.

Export images from iPhoto to the Finder, and then import them to Photos.

    File-> edit

a details of the options in the export dialog.

    Ignore the file date.

There are two types of metadata involved considering the jpeg or other image file.

One is the data file. That's what shows the Finder. That tells you nothing about the content of the file, just the file itself.

The problem with the metadata file is that it is easy to change the file is moved from one place to another or exported, by electronic mail, downloaded, etc.

Photographs have also obtained the Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera broken that the photo is saved in the Exif metadata. Without worrying if that said the date of the file, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.

Applications of photo like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc. get their date and time of the Exif metadata.

When you export from iPhoto to the new Finder file is created containing your Photo (and its Exif). The file date is reported - exactly - the date of export.

However, does not change the Date of the Photo.

The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif.

Thus, your photo has the correct date and the file does, but these are different things. To perform a sort on the date of the Photo, you will need to use a photo app.

  • Cannot import photos from iPhoto to 9 elements Organizer

I am organizing running 9 items on my MacBook Pro. When I run the command file/Get pictures and videos / iPhoto, I get the error message, "there no media to import from iPhoto. In fact, I have thousands of photos in iPhoto that I would like to import Organizer so that I can edit them in Elements 9.

I can also edit pictures in the elements placing him as default editor in iPhoto. When I do that, it opens items but does not open the photo in iPhoto.

When I do that, it opens items but does not open the photo in iPhoto.

This usually means that you have chosen the wrong file as the external editor. In PSE 9, you want than this one. The other is an alias for the home screen and choose one causes the behavior you described:

I want to create a slideshow of paintings with a musical background. My 'paintings' is as JPEGs into iPhoto, and my music track is in Garage Band or iTunes. If you click windows, and then click OK for Media you should find the iPhoto library under library.  You can then open an event and select a photo.

  • How can I use iPhoto importing photos from card reader?

Aloha all, I really prefer to use iPhoto, or opening when importing photos from card, but Photos opens whenever I put in my camera card. In the preferences of the Photo, the choice to select what app to use when importing is gray. How can I make iPhoto, or even simply to capture Image open rather than Photos? I put iPhoto preferences to do this, but it seems pictures somehow overrides it. Tips, tips out there? Mahalo

Try to set the default application to open the General preferences in iPhoto window:

Do you know that iPhoto is no longer supported by Apple print shops so that all projects must be created and controls through Photos?  Just a heads-up.

If the above does not work, you can kill all apps to open when a camera is connected with the following command in the Terminal application, posted by JadedEye:

Re: Prevent DEFINITELY the Photos to open automatically

    in response to leonie

OK, it worked for me on El Cap

    Open a terminal window

Type the following in the terminal and press enter

defaults write currentHost - com.apple.ImageCapture disableHotPlug - bool YES

(followed by the return key or enter - ed)

    The exit of the terminal.

Photos will run if you run, but it will not autolaunch on each connection to a camera or the card or reformatted the card.

If you want to return Photos auto-launch almost everything, use the same command change YES no

This correction has set my workflow back to normal without Photos of gd lance all the time.

You must then manually run the application that you want to use with the memory card or camera.

  • Photo duplication of photos from Iphoto? (Events/albums)

    Hello

Yesterday I upgraded my Macbook pro to El Capitan, my main concern was and is still, the migration to photos from Iphoto, given that my library is 200 GB +. So far, that the migration seemed to work very well, but I worried amb a little overlap.

In Iphoto, I had all my photos in events and I also made albums selection of photos of these events, I was convinced that the pictures on these albums were not duplications and that Iphoto created somehow links to original photos into events.

Now that I've migrated to the Photo, so my old albums and my events appear under the same albums category. Therefore, I have the albums I created and another folder called Iphoto events, which is also an album. Does this mean that the photos in the albums I created with Iphoto are duplicated and taking a double space in my SSD? Thank you

    Gerard

both my old albums and my events appear under the same albums category. Therefore, I have the albums I created and another folder called Iphoto events, which is also an album. Does this mean that the photos in the albums I created with Iphoto are duplicated and taking a double space in my SSD? Thank you

Everything you see in the section Album do not duplicate photos and more storage.

Photos does not all events, so migration created albums of events as the note for you, how your events had been grouped and named. But all the photos in the folder "iPhoto events" are just standard albums and using the photos already in the library.

Pictures uses 'moments' to partition the library rather than events.  Each photo that you import will appear in just a moment. You have only the duplicates, if you see the same photo twice in the library, and the second version has a different file name.

  • import photos from the phone without Photos

Is it possible to import photos from an iPhone without "PHOTOS" / iphoto? ". I had an iPhoto library really big on the external drive that now will not migrate because I need to 72 GB extra space - which is kind of off me to iPhoto - if I had known it was going to be a problem I would have split my library before updating.

You can use the picture Capture application to import photos from your iPhone to a folder on your Mac.

When I try to import photos from my Canon EOS70D in Lightroom, first I get "Preview not available for this file" for all files on the camera. If I check a few photos to import Lightroom said then that's important but the pictures never import and eventually I have to cancel the import. All advice appreciated.

  • How do you get your photos from iPhoto into Photoshop?  I'm just duumb

How can I move my photos from iPhoto to Photoshop?  I feel really stupid right now.

    Hi Gramo5,

    Please follow the steps below.

    1. In the Finder, go to your package of iPhoto file. By default, it is located in /Users/[username]/ pictures and it is called iPhoto library.

    2. Control-click the iPhoto library file and choose show package content.

A Finder window will open that displays the contents of the package file. The Masters folder contains all the pictures that are in iPhoto.

    3. Control-click on the folder named Masters and choose duplicate.

    4. Do drag the folder named "copy of masters' window of the library Finder iPhoto on your desktop and then you can import pictures into Photoshop from the desktop.

  • How can I access Photoshop elements 9 organizer of iMac Apple Dock & move all photos from iPhoto

I have been using Photoshop Elements 9 to change my digital photos from iPhoto.  I found using both these confusing applications and decided to only use Photoshop Elements 9 to edit and organize my photos.  Right now I can only access the editor of Photoshop Elements 9 of my iMac Apple Dock.  How can I access all the features of Photoshop Elements 9 of my iMac Apple Dock?  Should what steps I follow to move all of them now organized in iPhoto in the Photoshop elements 9 multimedia?

The next time that you start the Organizer, go in the Dock, click on more and hold its icon there and go to options more > keep in dock.

To copy your photos from iphoto, go to file > import from iphoto. This will duplicate your photos, however.
