Impossible to activate winodws updates on Vista Home
I have the question googles; tried the Microsoft fix filoe but impossible to activate Windows update
Hello
(1) what happens when you try to activate the update? You receive an error message?
(2) who is the Fixit you tried?
(3) when was the last time it worked?
I suggest you follow these methods and check.
Method 1: Perform the clean boot and install the updates.
Follow the suggestions of this link.
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
NOTE: After you check the clean boot feature configure Windows to use a Normal startup using step 7 proposed in the above mentioned link.
Method 2 : Reset Windows Update components and check with the question.
How to reset the Windows Update components?
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058
Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 322756 how to back up and restore the registry in Windows
Method 3: Run the system update tool and install updates.
Description of the preparation tool system update for Windows Vista for Windows Server 2008, for Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/947821
If the method above does not work, proceed to the next method.
Method 4: Perform a full scan of the computer using the following antivirus applications and try to install the updates.
Microsoft Safety Scanner: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.
I hope this helps!

Infinite loop start after updating to Vista Home edition
I own a lenovo model 8705CTO mini tower PC.
At the end of July, an automatic update of Vista cannot install properly, which left the starting in a State sequence, appears:
"Configuring updates: stage 3 of 3-0% complete.
"Microsoft Vista Home Basic"
for 10 seconds, then
"Shutting down".
for a minute or two
and restart again in the same loop.
This loop lasted several hours. With the help of:
"Rescue and Recovery - repair Express."
the following message is generated:
"Errors have been detected in the operating system."
"Click on files" reveals:
Details
Status of name
Bootmgr corruptThe bootmgr file has 325 KB
Apparently, it was generated on 01/18/2008 and contains 333 203 bytes.
Operating system restore points prior facilities only are not available, since the automatic update has left the system with the restore than identical behavior points.
How can I recover without having to re - install the operating system from scratch?
It is advisable to remove the bootmgr file and it re - generate from scratch?
What is the procedure to achieve this? Thanks for your response (s)
HD
I have created the disk as described, as the 64-bit version. The standard disc worked and allowed me to use repair tools.
BTW, these are already shipped with the LENOVO system, and I consulted the tools off during the START-UP phase, then by restarting the PC.The answer to the success of the recovery could be found here, after that I tried
"Configuring updates: stage 3 of 3-0% complete.
on Google and looking at various web pages:http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/949358(Restore points were crushed, because automatic updates have been selected, and the computer ran unattended for more than a week by substituting the last point valid restore as update VISTA tried to re - install the updates failed every night)
Method 3: Rename the Pending.xml file, and then change the registry notes read the following important notes before you use this troubleshooting method.
- Use this method to resolve the symptom of restart that is described in the "Symptoms" section, so that you can back up data before you reinstall Windows. You must use this method of troubleshooting only if you plan to back up data and reinstall Windows.
- Use this method only after trying other methods.
Note If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer for instructions on how to continue.
- Use this method only if the computer has no restore points or if you cannot start your computer to a point where the system restore feature is available.
- After using this method, the following conditions may exist until reinstalling Windows:
- An update is being installed may not be installed correctly.
- Windows Update may not work correctly.
- If an update is installed, you may be unable to stop the installation process.
- You may be unable to enable and disable certain Windows functions in option.
- Certain optional Windows features may not work correctly.
- The computer may be in an unprotected state.
To rename the Pending.xml file, and edit the registry, follow these steps.
Start Windows Vista and go to system recovery options:
- Insert the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then restart the computer.
- When you are prompted to restart from the disc, press any key.
- When you are prompted, configure the language to install, time and currency formatsand keyboard or input method options that you want, and then click Next.
- On the Install Windows page, click repair your computer.
- In the System Recovery Options page, click the version of the Windows Vista operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
Use the system recovery options to rename the Pending.xml file and modify the registry:

DOES NOT UPDATE MY VISTA HOME PREMIUM
MY VISTA HOME PREMIUM 32 BIT DOES NOT UPDATE AND I KEEP GETTING THIS ERROR 80073712 CODE.
"PLEASE HELP ME"!http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/957310
Above is resolution of Microsoft to your error Code.
But it is perhaps not very simple to fix.
1. try Method 1 to above website. Run (Checksur.exe) system update readiness tool
2. do you have Service Pack 1 installed Vistra?
Method 2 is in the list.
3. method 3 is to do a Vista repair install.
You need good Vista disc to do this.
4. If none of the works above, you need to reinstall Vista, using either the recovery disk/s or the recovery partition.
Save all data before you do, because it will be lost when reinstalling.
Good luck with it.

Hello
IAM doing the free upgrade from windows vista home premium to windows7 home premium but with no luck please help.
Migration: Windows XP and Vista
First, Windows XP and Windows Vista are not eligible versions for the free update, so you should have to buy a full version license.
Buy Windows 10 family/professional edition
In addition, Windows XP and Vista users will need to perform a custom installation, any attempt to start the installation of Windows 10 in legacy versions of Windows will trigger the following error message:
Learn more: how: perform a customized Windows installation
Keep in mind, the restoration works in Windows 10 can't stand not installs custom, so if you decide to go back to Windows XP or Vista, you have to reinstall it using original reinstall media. So try to create a backup of your installation, if it is important for you.

I am computer illiterate, where the help required
Vista Home Premium to Vista Business is NOT an upgrade path.
You will need to purchase a FULL version / license of Vista professional and do a clean install of it.
How to do a clean install:
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
