This serial number is important for Xp compatible drivers from the European pilot of Toshiba page.

  • Impossible to install the windows update and perform the system restore

Original title: what restore systerm causing failure/Vista

Windows update fails with a few updates, tried to restore the back before I loaded the system machanic - fails

    Hello

    1. What is the description which are impossible to install updates?

    2. What is the message exact error do you get when you try to install updates?

    3. you get any error message while you perform the system restore?

I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below and check if it helps:

Method 1: Reset components from Windows Update from the link of the suite, which would help you to install the updates of windows. http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058

    Method 2:

If the problem persists, then try to put your computer in a clean boot state, and then try to install the update to windows.

By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

Method 3: Manually try to install updates from the Microsoft Download Center.

    a. go to the Microsoft Download site, type the number of "KB" of the update in the download search box and then click OK.

    b. in the list of search results, click on the (KB) Knowledge Base article link to go to the download page. If there is more than one list, look for a link that goes to the Microsoft Download Center.

    c. If there are several versions on the download page, find the appropriate for your computer. Click on the download button and save the update to your desktop.

    d. When you are prompted, click open to install the update.

Method 4: You can also try to perform the system restore , safe mode and check if the same problem occurs.

Note: When the computer is in safe mode, System Restore does not restore points. Therefore, you can not undo a restoration you performed when the computer is in safe mode.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Installing OS on Equium L40

I just got a laptop Equium L40, the former owner of a partioned drive, then unallacated the partion and extended the c drive, so there are programs that reside on the hard drive, but cannot be started, the computer will run most hiddious vista OS. I spoke with Tosh who informs me that there is a tool to burn restore discs included in the tosh software, but can't find how to run this software, the small partition tosh nicked from my hard drive is intact, I would be recognizing any entry of the forum

have also tried to reinstall vista, xp and windows 7 with the same result to the hard drive not being not not able to be contacted also tried to integrate the sata also drivers with the same result, another that the machine seems to work very well in the case of this machine it not Mater what OS is on it I prefer xp or win 7 as like many others find it very bloated vista and who need a rennie

After reading your ad I n t understand one thing: this portable plant now or not?
If Yes, you can try to create the recovery disk using preinstalled creator Toshiba Recovery tool, but if you use OS installed by you or a previous owner, including the different structures of HARD drive partitions, I fear that you will not be able to access saved m HARD drive recovery image.

    > also tried to reinstall vista, xp and windows 7 with the same result of the disk hard cannot be contacted
I put t understand it. What do you mean with contacted?
Please enter the F2 BIOS settings at startup and set it to default settings. After this try to start the bootable Win7 disc and check if HARD drive is recognized correctly.
By the way: If you don t have to factory settings now I think the only way to get own pre-installed OS is the use of the Microsoft installation disc.

  • Equium L40 - 10z PSL41E - cannot install audio driver WinXP

    Hello!

I'm having a problem with the installation of the Windows XP sound card drivers

Computer laptop informatio, Toshiba Equium L40 - 10z (bought from PC World) PSL41e
    2 GB Ram DDR2 - 667 Mhz
    Core 2 [email protected]
    120 GB hard drive
Intel GMA 945 graphics card with shared memory

I can't find drivers for my laptop, the specification is indicated above. I have windows XP with service pack 3 installed and the system is unable to install drivers Realtek High Defination or audio drivers Realtek AC 97 ". I even tried the latest drivers version 1.86 but not its use.

I read the other posts on this forum and have tried the other model audio drivers as well, it seems that after running the installer from several other realtek audio drivers for windows XP THAT is of no use. I even tried to add material manually through the Device Manager and have to install these drivers for realtek high definition audio and the realtek ac 97 audio drivers.

Of course, this helps the drivers to install, but windows cannot activate the material with an error code 10 with a note of explanation on behalf of the driver in Device Manager.

I also tried to install the drivers of toshiba A100/A200 without exploitation, however, I read somewhere that there is a windows XP patch that is required to be installed, so that windows detect the chip high definition, which is on the motherboard. If one can provide a direct link to a driver with the .inf file that will have the information for the material, or if someone can advise (or provide a link for) according to microsoft update is required for windows XP, in the appropriate hardware detection, will be really useful.

I'm also sorry for my bad English I'm unable to articulate with the type of problem, I faced. But if anyone knows of a solution and additional information is needed, I will be happy to provide you with everything I know.

I'll be very grateful to anyone who helps address this issue. Looking forward to a positive response :).

    > have windows XP with service pack 3 installed
To my knowledge, that the XP SP3 is not published official. Only a beta version is available.
    Then go back to SP2!

    > the system cannot install drivers Realtek High Defination or Realtek AC' 97 audio drivers
Realtek AC 97 audio driver is not compatible! You must use the driver from Realtek High definition.

    > Of course, it helps the drivers to install, but windows cannot activate the material with an error code 10 with a note of explanation on behalf of the driver in Device Manager.

The problem is that you have not installed the MS XP patches that are necessary to get the sound working.

  • Cannot install Recovery factory default on Satelite A500 system

    Hello

I can't recovery my system to factory default.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A500-148. She did with Windows Vista and a few months after I had received an upgrade to Windows7, Toshiba.
One of the first things I did was to create a DVD recorey, and I still have it.

Now I want to reinstall the entire system with Windows7 so I think do a default system recovery in the factory using the Toshiba HDD Recovery option. BUT I can't do that.

Firstly I have red the instructions shipped with the laptop, and tried to follow the fashion.
The instructions that I try to follow up was:
    -Reboot the laptop
    -press F8 during startup
-Choose the entry "repair your computer".
-Choose the layout of the keyboard
-enter in my account to access
    The following options appear:
    -Startup Repair
    -System restore
    -Restore Windows complete PC
    -Windows Memory Diagnostic tool
    -Command prompt

I expect the "Toshiba HDD Recovery" option, but this option is not shown.

So, I ask for this help.
    I'm doing something wrong?

Mind you, I already did (a software factory using the Toshiba HDD Recovery recovery option default) in the past, most exactily before installing the upgrade to Windows7. But it was a long time ago and I'm not sure all the steps that I had done.

    Kind regards
    Ricardo

    > Now I want to reinstall the entire system with Windows7 so I think do a default system recovery in the factory using the Toshiba HDD Recovery option. BUT I can't do that.
After that update Win7, everything changes so if you have factory settings again use please created Vista recovery discs.
    > Notice, I already did (a software factory using the Toshiba HDD Recovery recovery option default) in the past, most exactily before installing the upgrade to Windows7.
Fix. As long as you are using Vista, you will be able to use this option, but after upgrade is not.

Reinstall Vista and later you can do what you want. Either use you Vista or Win7 to be upgraded again.

  • FOUR installed at the factory DEFAULT to leave prevents the DUAL BOOT LINUX

    HP laptop: dv7-4173us

    Current hard disk partitions:

Size (approximate) volume file system status

(C primary NTFS Partition 444 GB)

    HP_TOOLS (F): 99 MB primary FAT32 Partition

Recovery (D primary NTFS Partition 21,28 GB)

Primary SYSTEM NTFS partition 199 MB

    I came across this link:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-performance/Windows-7-disk-management-UTI...

I want to install linux in dual boot, but the link above from Microsoft, said a MAXIMUM of

    4 PRIMARY partitions is allowed.

Currently I already have FOUR primary partitions on my laptop HP as factory default PARTITION!

    What is the SYSTEM partition?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/what-are-system-boot-partitions#1TC=Windows-7

    Excerpts:

“.... The system partition contains the hardware and the startup folder indicating a computer where to look to start Windows. By default, Windows 7 creates a separate system partition when it is installed from scratch (as opposed to upgrading from a previous version of Windows) on an unpartitioned hard disk. This partition is 100 MB in size. “

Looks like I need to remove one of the main partition above.

And it also looks like my choices are:

    HP_TOOLS (F): 99 MB primary FAT32 Partition

Recovery (D primary NTFS Partition 21,28 GB)

What are the consequences of the removal of one of the scores of HP.

I suspect the HP_TOOLS above (F and recovery (D are dependent on each other.))

I understand, it's likely that I lose the ability to recover and have to reinstall windows directly from CD/DVD.

But I have TO install Linux in DUAL BOOT.

    What choices do I have?

    Please advice.

    Thank you.

Linux uses a different label than Windows. Windows using C, D, E... drive, but linux uses sda1, sda2, sda3 (sda means the disc and 1,2,3, partition) labels for partitions. The sda2 partition is probably the 100 MB system. Linux also uses different file systems incompatible with NTFS/FAT32 for Windows file systems. The most common are EXT2/3/4 and also swap which is something like a pagefile (pagefile.sys) on Windows. You can delete the partition HP_TOOLS of linux, but if everything works and you do not need more partitions don't do that. There are stored diagnostic utilities. However, you can create a USB key with the same properties as HP_TOOLS partition:

  • Equium L40-10 X - cannot install Windows

    Hi all

First post real but existed under and turned off for a while. I hope someone here can help!

I have a Toshiba laptop Equium L40-10 x computer with a strange problem. He came me second user with the problem already so I don't know any history other than what I tried. When you start the machine it comes up with an error TRAP 00000006 exception and stops. The hard drive has been low-level formatted, formatted and partitioned and has nothing on this subject. The memory has been replaced and confirmed functional. When you try to use the recovery cd (F12 at startup), it goes to the menu option select boot, I select the CD player, and he made some noises and then the error message appears. I also tried a WIN XP and WIN Vista CD with the same effect.

Googling the problem seems to suggest problems NTLDR or memory but drive has nothing on this matter and memory was tested and upheld the fine.

Other possibilities are the drive CD or BIOS. BIOS version 2.10 and I know the available BIOS is 2.30 but unable at present to find a way to upgrade the bios. I have a USB floppy drive available.

So, that's the problem, any thoughts?

    Thank you

This is strange, but I think that this problem could be caused by a faulty HARD drive.

So I would test the drive with the Drive Fitness Test:
    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT
With this tool, you can test the HARD drive. Download the CD image on this website, burn it to a CD or DVD and then boot from it.
There is also a user guide if you want to know more about it.

  • How to install the sound drivers and graphics on my Equium L40 - 10Z?

OK here is the deal, I have everything works pretty well except the sound. Its the map analog Inc. I have on this laptop and not the Realteck one. Also on the graphics, I'm not fussed, but if anyone has any info on this, it would be great.

I use Windows XP Service Pack 3!

  • Equium L40 - Vista won't start after installation of product recovery

    Hello

I had to realize a product uses recovery provided restore disk on an Equium L40 computer laptop (PLS41). The recovery procedure done his job to the end, reformats and copy all the files and then restarts. Now the problem starts...
The pc gets in front of the BIOS boot screen, then it goes completely black with only a cursor to underscore flashing in the upper corner of the screen. No HARD or CD-rom drive activity.

I did the cover about ten times now. All with the same result. I tried the repair procedure using a Vista boot CD and I also tried using another disk supplied with the computer, anytime upgrade from Vista. Here they are without defects, see the hard drive and shows that the vista files are on it, also sees the winRE partition.

I tired even fresh install from the disc at any time. It also reformats the disk, copies and decompresses all files needed, begins to install the updates on the disk and then said: he needs to restart. It restarts and goes to black screen with flashing underscore cursor. What happens if I press the 'coup of any key to boot from CD' or leave it to boot from the HARD drive.

I tried to fix this for two days now, including endless hours of forum to research, the computer belongs to my friend gets very angry I am. I need help. No one knows how to fix?

    Hello

According to your message, I think that the HARD drive is faulty.
I think there's a defective recording of MBR (MBR) of the drive and therefore the laptop refuses to boot.

One question; have you tried to set the BIOS default settings? If this is not the case, try this.

If it doesn t help and the laptop still does not start upward, then you should ask ASP for verification.
I think it s a problem of HARD disk and, possibly, the HARD drive must be replaced!

  • Equium L40-156: graphics card problem - error code 12 in Device Manager

    People of the night...

Just got a family run Vista premium, Equium L40-156, everything is going well except a little problem with the display adapter (Mobile Intel 965).

Tried the drivers that I had with the installer
Tried the drivers from the toshiba download page
Tried the drivers on the Microsoft Update site
Tried the drivers from the website of intel

All have the same problem, in Device Manager, it shows with an error (the pretty yellow triangle with the "!") with an error code 12 (the device cannot find enough free resources) even after a system resart.

Switching view hidden devices displays a 2nd same device, but works correctly, but the two disappear if I try to delete either.
Display settings do not display a connected device, DXDIAG had no idea either.

Latest version of the BIOS installed, all other devices are very good and can not see an IO overlap anywhere

    Any suggestions, greatly appriciated

    Ta

    Hello

I have studied a little bit and looked on the Microsoft page for some answers and found out what exactly means the error code 12.

    ------------------------------------
    + Error code 12 +.

+ This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. (Code 12) +.

+ Two devices are assigned the same i/o ports, the same interrupt, or the same Direct memory access channel (whether through BIOS, the operating system, or a combination of both). This error message may also appear if the BIOS did not allocate enough resources to the device (for example, if a (USB) universal serial bus controller is not an interruption of the BIOS because of a corrupt MPS (Multiprocessor) system table). +
    -------------------------------------

Well, what to say; usually this error message should not appear with the original Toshiba preinstalled operating system.
I put t know if you have changed something or add an additional device, but it would be very interesting to know if the same error message appears after the reinstallation of the OS.
You can use the Toshiba Recovery CD/DVD of restoration!

All the drivers, the tools are already preinstalled on the recovery CD so the entire procedure will not take very long. about 10 min.

Check this box and report if the same error is displayed on the laptop with the factory settings!

    Good bye

    Hello

How I see it must be a hardware related issue. In this case to return your machine for a new or contact a [authorized Local Service partner | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=EU&ID=ASP_SUPPORT] for a repair.
