Impossible to load Windows Vista, screen stuck at the loading screen (green cursor will move to the right)

Last night I tried to Hibernate my laptop (Windows Vista 64-bit), but it took forever so I held the power button to stop it. When I started it today, however, it would not load windows. I tried loading in safe mode, but it stops at crcdisk.sys. I tried using the automatic repair tool to find issues. The first time, it took about 2 hours to fix, but once it asks me to click 'Finish' to restart, it restarts and arrives at the black screen with the Green loading thing goes from left to right. It remains to this screen for minutes, hours. I also tried to boot from the last known good configuration, and this does not work either. I tried to restore to a previous point, but there was no previous system restore point. Windows was working fine the night before.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sean

The symptoms you describe point to a faulty hard drive. Hard drives can appear to fail suddenly like this so the fact that he was 'before' is irrelevant. Test the hard drive with a diagnostic utility downloaded from site of the disc mftr. or use SeaTools for BACK of Seagate. You create a bootable CD with the files you download. You will need a third party burning software to do as the free ImgBurn, Nero or Roxio. Burn as an image, not in the form of data.

http://Seagate.custkb.com/Seagate/CRM/selfservice/search.jsp?docid=201271 (how-to)

Boot with the CD that you have done and do a full test of the reader. The physical tests fail, replace it. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Question from windows vista - get stuck on the Welcome screen.

I recently had my computer startup problems - it gets stuck on the home page, even if I restart it continues.  If I'm doing a ctrl + alt + delete, and then it displays the desktop.  I have no updates that must be accomplished.  you have an idea why this is stuck?  Thank you!

    Restore point:

Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

You will need to install the Sata driver. On one of the installation screens is an option to install the drivers on the lower right side of the screen. Choose this option and put the disc Driver of Dell in. The driver, it seeks to install is the Intel Matrix Storage driver. If you need to download this driver and put it on a disc, you can click on the title below.

Another way to complete the installation without the first installation of the driver is to change the bios setting to ATA. To do this, restart the system and press F2 to enter setup. Once there you can TAB down to the devices on board and press ENTER. Then tab down to SATA Operation. You see at the top of the screen on the right side the ATA and AHCI. Change that to the ATA. Save the changes and exit. Once the system reboots, you should be able to complete the installation. After installation and that you have loaded the drivers, you will need to go into bios and change the setting back to AHCI.

I have a desktop with Windows Vista. Many times, the screen is the gel with an error massage "video Mode not supported". What could be the problem and the solution. ?

    Hi Izzy Nagar,

    ·         Exactly when you receive this error message?

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    ·         Do you have any extended monitor connected to the computer in the past or at the present time?

Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:

Method 1: You can try to reduce the resolution of the screen (lower), then check if the message still appears.

Check also if the refresh rate of the monitor is set correctly and check the manual of the monitor for assistance.

    Ways to improve display quality

Flicker of the correct monitor (refresh rate)

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/correct-monitor-flicker-refresh-rate

Method 2: Use the option ' enable video low resolution (640 × 480) "start, then update your video card driver and check if the problem still persists.

    a. click the Start button, click the arrow next to Shut Down and then click on restart.

    b. do one of the following:

    ·         If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then stop and restart your computer.

    ·         If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to select the operating system you want to start in safe mode, and then press F8.

    c. on the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to select activate video low resolution (640 × 480) and press ENTER.

    d. connect to your computer with an account of a user who has administrator rights.

    e. If you can see your desktop, there is a problem with your video card. Try to update your video card driver. For more information, see the article:

Updated a hardware driver that is not working properly

  • Cannot delete mp4 in windows vista, even after changing the property.

    Hello

I tried all the methods in the solution given in windows vista to remove off the mp4 files from destop. but each time, he said the necessary authorization.

I had changed the security for the property for full control rights. but always impossible.

can you please advice me how to do?

    Hi oscarpooh,

This only happens with MP4 files?

The following could prevent you from deleting the file.

Ø if you do not have the adequate rights for a file or folder, you cannot remove it.

O if not create you the file, you may not be able to delete it, even if it appears in the Public folder. If this is the case, you must ask the owner of the file to delete.

O in addition, you cannot remove a file (or the folder that contains it) if the file is currently open in a program. Make sure that the file is not open in any program, and then try again to delete the file.

    Why can't I delete a file or a folder?

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/why-cant-I-delete-a-file-or-folder

I suggest you try the following steps:

Ensure that you do not play the file when you try to remove it.

Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode and then try to remove

Start the computer in safe mode, to do this, follow the steps below,

Access the menu advanced startup options by turning on your computer and pressing the button F8 before Windows starts. In the advanced startup options select safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode

Step 2: The corruption of the file system prevents access to the file

You will not be able to delete the file if the file system is damaged. To resolve this problem, run the Chkdsk utility on the disk volume to correct any errors.

Run the disk check to repair bad sectors on the hard disk.

    a. Click Start, in the start search bar type cmd, right-click on the command prompt icon in the box programs and then click Run as administrator.

    b. at the command prompt, type chkdsk /f and then press ENTER.

    Now, type chkdsk/r

Note: CHKDSK would attempt to recover bad sectors on the hard disk, in the course of this process there are chances of DATA loss from that particular area.

Let us know if it works

Thank you, and in what concerns:
