  • How to do a complete uninstall of VMWare Workstation 10 Buggy?

    Hello

    I bought and installed VMWare Workstation 10 about a year using the education license.

    A few months ago, I tried to reinstall VMWare Workstation because it had been destabilised by a question about my PC. But when I tried to uninstall the software, it arises repeatedly with the following error message:

    The MSI "failed.

    The path of the folder "Shared Virtual Machines" contains an invalid character.

    I tried to fix it, but to no avail. Finally, I decided to manually uninstall VMWare ranging in all directories, I knew where was installed at VMWare and remove files.

    It did not always work because of all the registry keys related to VMWare.

    At this point, I would like to do a complete uninstall of VMWare Workstation, and then perform a new installation on my computer.

    Would it be possible to know the procedure should I follow to remove all information related to VMWare on my computer (key of registry, files, dll, etc.) and then reinstall it?

    Any resource in this regard would be really appreciated.

    Where this might be necessary, my computer is running Windows 8.1 Pro on an Intel i7 x 64 CPU.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Missing network drive prevents uninstalling VMWare Workstation

    I am difficult to uninstall VMware Workstation, we reassigned to a laptop computer of a user who has left the company however somewhere along the line of the installation of VMware has become broken (2 services does not [authorization and Workstation Server], I tried the registry changes suggested here with no luck (: https://communities.vmware.com/message/2178663#2178663). To work around this I want to reinstall VMWare Workstation. When do I receive an error that Setup search a network location that is not accessible and cannot continue.

    ""Could not access network location"\\network_location\username\My Documents\Shared Virtual Machines.

    Can someone point me in the right direction for re-pointing to this location so that the installation program can complete?

    Thank you

    Roland.

    Can you not just quickly and easily temporarily recreate the missing part, do the uninstall and then remove the is no longer need for action?

    If not, look in the Windows registry or files in "C:\ProgramData\VMware\hostd".  Or uninstall manually by using the information in: cleaning after incomplete uninstall on a Windows host (1308).

  • Host Windows system restore back up virtual machines the VMWare Workstation?

    Is it save to perform a restore of the system on a Windows host running VMWare Workstation 9.0.2 with the premises of virtual machines? I just need confirmation that the VMs will be still functional after restoring the system.

    Welcome to the community,

    System Restore should not touch all personal documents, what configuration file and virtual disk are in reality. However, a restoration of the system can change the parameters of the application Windows for for example VMware Workstation. Anyway most that should happen is that you have to reinstall VMware Workstation in such a case.

    see "what files changed during a system restore?" at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/system-restore-faq

    In any case, it is always useful to have a current backup!

  • NAT with VMWare Workstation 9-Urgent problems

    Hello

    Try to use NAT in VMware Workstation 9 and am lost in my VM connection.

    But when I use the network bridge, it works very well.

    Is someone can you please help me solve?

    I tried reinstalling VMware workstation for all n No.. times and restored the settings of the Virtual Network Editor as well.

    Help, please!

    It seems that the client does not receive a DHCP address? Assuming that the virtual network adapter in the virtual machine settings is 'connected' (which, I guess, because you said Bridged works very well), you can check if there is a problem with the installation. Please run services. MSC (or net start from the command line) to see what VMware services are running on the host computer.

  • VMWare Workstation virtual machine resume

    I have a Windows XP VMWare Workstation VM (7.4) installed on Windows 7 64 bit which is suspended.  I click on resume and it displays the screen of VMWare for a few seconds and then it closes with no message of any kind.  The reset button is disabled, the only thing it allows me to do is to resume the virtual machine and which does nothing.  Help!  Can someone help me get this virtual machine running again?

    Virtual machines should not be affected when you uninstall / reinstall VMware Workstation on the host system. All you have to do is to open in the menu my computer to add to your Favorites.

  • VMware Workstation and Hyper-V are not compatible. Remove the Hyper-V system role before running VMware Workstation

    Ouch. I just started to do some Win Phone 8 and development Win, and all simulators are needed for development.

    This means that a dev to Win8 may only work on their host... I'm sure it would work in a virtual machine.

    Can I make for happy? (Hyper V might have to win here... sigh).

    VMware Workstation and Hyper-V are not compatible. Remove the Hyper-V system role before running VMware Workstation

    Once you install the Hyper-V role on your host, your host is no longer running Windows 8 as the native operating system.  It runs Hyper-V as the native operating system, and Windows 8 runs as OS management within a privileged under Hyper-V VM.  With the Hyper-V role installed, * everything * runs in a virtual machine under Hyper-V.

    So to run a virtual machine under my computer in Windows 8 under Hyper-V, you must be able to run a nested VM.  It's possible with Hyper-V, the hypervisor host, but with the updates in custody, I mentioned above.

  • Impossible to disable the time synchronization in VMWare Workstation 8.0.1

    I read 1189 KB # as well as various articles on disabling time synchronization between host and guest, but I can't seem to stop synchronization.

    I closed the comments and edited the VMX file as follows:

    tools.syncTime = "FALSE".
    Time.Synchronize.continue = "FALSE".
    Time.Synchronize.Restore = "FALSE".
    Time.Synchronize.Resume.Disk = "FALSE".
    Time.Synchronize.Shrink = "FALSE".
    Tools.Synchronize.Tools.Startup = "FALSE".

    But no matter what, the time of comments still synchronizes to the host after turning the power on or return to.

    I tried on the hosts Windows 2008 x 86 and Windows 2008 R2 with the same results.  I also disabled the functionality of Windows to "synchronize with a time server Internet.

    I'm using VMWare Workstation 8.0.1 on Windows 7 Pro x 64.

    Clues as to what I'm missing?

    Thank you.

    Your initial message, I found that something is different with the content of KB.

    Will keep you ' tools.synchronize.tools.startup = 'FALSE' but the KB said there should be time.synchronize.tools.startup = 'FALSE'.»

    Please copy and paste below your *.vmx file model.

    tools.syncTime = "FALSE".
    Time.Synchronize.continue = "FALSE".
    Time.Synchronize.Restore = "FALSE".
    Time.Synchronize.Resume.Disk = "FALSE".
    Time.Synchronize.Shrink = "FALSE".
    Time.Synchronize.Tools.Startup = "FALSE".
    Time.Synchronize.Tools.Enable = "FALSE".
    Time.Synchronize.Resume.Host = "FALSE".

  • Impossible to run/load 64 - bit OS in VMware Workstation 8

    I recently bought VMware Workstation 8.  It is installed on a laptop Lenovo T510 with 8 gigabytes of memory, Intel Virtualization is enabled in the BIOS.  I am running Windows 7 64-bit with all the service packs and hotfixes installed from this announcement on March 13, 2012.  My processor is a Mobile Core i7 620 m.

    I'm trying to load a 64-bit operating system, I'm able to succeed in creating the virtual machine.  However when I try to load the 64-bit operating system, I get the following message is displayed:

    Virtualization host is disabled in the BIOS/Firmware of host.

    With the help of virtualization with MMU software software.

    The above message is incorrect; I have virtualization enabled in BIOS.   I checked several times.

    Also, I get a window appears that displays the following text:

    Software virtualization is incompatible with the long mode on this platform.  Long mode off.  Without the support of the long mode, the virtual machine will not be able to run 64-bit code.  For more details, see: http://vmware.com/info?id=152.

    Please help me with this problem.

    Thank you

    I have the same problem with VMware Workstation 8 and I tried the method of vMLH thus, still encounter the same error message (I created a new guest OS and made all settings before starting from 1).

  • VMware Workstation Player does not start on Fedora 23

    I've recently updated to Fedora 22 23 Fedora and can no longer run VMware Workstation 12.0.1 Player.

    I tried to uninstall the component using sudo vmware-Installer - components uninstall = vmware-player and then put it back, nothing will do. The installation is always successful, but when I try to run the application, it runs for a little while, then give up. I tried to uninstall it remove once again the previous configuration, but it still doesn't work.

    I am running

    Workstation Fedora 23

    Linux kernel 4.2.6 - 300.fc23.x86_64

    3.18.1 GNOME release

    I got it working by following this link: http://rglinuxtech.com/?p=1624

    It's a very simple solution. Basically, you just copy the libraries that are not in the directory of vmware.

    As root, run the following commands:

    # cd /usr/lib/vmware/lib
    # cp -afv /usr/lib64/libgio-2.0.so.0.4600.2 libgio-2.0.so.0/libgio-2.0.so.0
    # cp -afv /usr/lib64/libglib-2.0.so.0.4600.2 libglib-2.0.so.0/libglib-2.0.so.0
    # cp -afv /usr/lib64/libgmodule-2.0.so.0.4600.2 libgmodule-2.0.so.0/libgmodule-2.0.so.0
    # cp -afv /usr/lib64/libgobject-2.0.so.0.4600.2 libgobject-2.0.so.0/libgobject-2.0.so.0
    # cp -afv /usr/lib64/libgthread-2.0.so.0.4600.2 libgthread-2.0.so.0/libgthread-2.0.so.0

    Although I have not yet tested all virtual machines, this has at least the operational programme. It should solve the problem entirely. If for some reason vmware is not installed in/usr/lib/vmware, just replace the directory there. If you are unsure, running vmware whereis should tell you.

    Edit:

    I can say that this solution was able to load my virtual machines with great success. I don't need to reinstall VMWare on one of the boxes of Fedora, however (and removing the configuration files), but after that, it worked fine.

  • Windows 10 no internet comments on VMWare Workstation 10 and 11

    Hello

    I have a Windows 10 comments on my Web host pro 8.1.

    With one of the latest updates of windows 10 (guest), there is no internet available.

    My other guests (< w10) - all filled as well - work very well.

    Hoping to solve, I have improved my VMWare Workstation 10 to 11, but it did not help.

    Still no internet connection.

    (VMWare Tools are up to date)

    The Device Manager in my windows 10 guest shows as network < Intel(r) 82574L Gigabit Network Connection > adapter without error.

    It is the only listed network adapter.

    Switching to NAT does not work as well.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thank you

    In my windows 10 guest, I removed the Intel network card in the Device Manager and rebooted.

    The same adapter has been reinstalled, but since I still have internet connection.

    For this he has solved.

  • VMware Workstation 10.0.5 MSI failed

    I'm upgrading to VMware Workstation 10.0.5 since 10.0.4. The upgrade process has deleted 10.0.4, but when trying to install v10.0.5 I get an error:

    The MSI 'C:\Users\Ethan\AppData\Local\Temp\VMware_1422579427\vmwareworkstation_x64.msi' failed.

    I did the following with no fruit:

    1. Monitoring of VMware KB 1031302 and 1308 KB
    2. Copy the "C:\Users\Ethan\AppData\Local\Temp\VMware_*\" directory to another location of the command execution
      msiexec.exe /i vmwareworkstation_x64.msi EULAS_AGREED=1

      However, I got a different error:
      Failed to install the hcmon driver.

    3. Ran CCleaner registry cleaner
    4. Tried to (re) install VMware 10.0.4, however I still had the impossible "msi" error

    I found two newspapers, which are listed below. I have searched without finding a solution, any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi etnguyen03etnguyen03,.

    Here are 3 useful links when Workstation Setup error occurs on Windows.

    It will be useful.

    VMware KB: Cleaning after incomplete uninstall on a Windows host

    VMware KB: Troubleshooting a MSI error when a VMware product or installation of tools

    Need to reinstall Windows Installer in Windows 7 - Microsoft Community

    Given that you've tried the KB 1031302 and 1308 KB, the third link may be more useful.

    According to the answer in the third link:

    Please clean the related keys under: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\InProgress

    Check the following registry key and clean all entries in the key, you will find:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations

    Thank you!

  • 2.04 Ubuntu comments on VMware Workstation 9 under Win7 can't see ext4 USB drive

    Comments from 2.04 Ubuntu on VMware Workstation 9 under Win7: on computer A trivially, I connected to an out-of-the-box 64 GB USB drive formatted for VFAT on Ubuntu in a VM. I re-init'ed the player for ext4 (mkfs.ext4), mounted, drop a bunch of stuff on him (which took awhile), he dismounted and walked away. The next day, identically configured computer B, I inserted the USB key. Natch, Win7 may not go up because it does not ext4. But Ubuntu don't see either, so I can't be installed. Do not see under removable devices, no small icon bottom left of the screen of VMware, nothing in the settings menus or properties, etc. I think it's just me being a noob to VMware, but it seems that Ubuntu under VMware Workstation 9 cannot see the drive unless Win7 can go up. Seems unlikely. KB searching, Googling, etc. produce many unrelated things. Ideas? AdvTHANKSance.

    Here is the final answer: works great on an earlier version of VMware Workstation 9 on one of the Windows 7 of my client machines, it didn't work on my Windows 7 computer. I upgraded to VMware Workstation 10 on my Windows 7 computer, and now it works perfectly. If I call you this a bug in this version later 9 which was set at 10. Could also be had I simply uninstalled 9 and reinstalled which would have fixed it too. But I'll never know.

    But impossible to totally remove this thin strip off the screen...

  • Can upgrade us VMWare workstation 7 to v8

    Is there a way to upgrade to VmWare workstation 7 to v8 without disturbing currently installed VMs.

    I tried to install VMWare 8 directly on VMWare 7 and looked at the upgrade option. But it asked me to uninstall the current version first, then reinstall.

    Pls help. Thanks in advance.

    The previous version must be uninstalled in order to install the next version, however it does remove all Virtual Machines.  Although once the new version is installed, will need to be upgraded on each virtual machine VMware Tools.
