Impossible to restore or recover a Pavillion dm4 with recovery disks.

I did a complete diagnosis of the hardware test and all the tests.

I can't access the recovery via the main menu, since I get a BSOD.

I ordered HP recovery disks and received them yesterday.   Tried to install unsuccessful recovery disks.

I called iguru in India and they crossed me to see if I could get these discs to work.  No luck.  At every turn, I keep getting the BSOD.  They referred me to the HP support.

Support HP told me wish either the warranty (warranty expired a month ago) or send it inside for repairs at $250-300.  I don't have that kind of money laying around.

Question: Is there something I'm missing?

Pavilion dm4

Model # dm4-1065dx

Windows 7 64-bit operating system.

Hello

I would try completely wipe the hard drive first and then reinstalling the operating system.

Download and install Killdisk on the link below - (this application will write zeros to the entire disk).

http://Software.LSoft.net/KillDiskSuiteFree-Setup.exe

Download and install ImgBurn on the link below.

http://download.CNET.com/ImgBurn/3000-2646_4-10847481.html

Access the application of disc kill you have installed in all programs, open the main folder, then select Bootable Disk creators, then the BACK Bootable CD Creator that will burn the ISO on a blank CD bootable.

During the following process do not worry about all warnings as your recovery DVDs will reformat the HARD drive.

Insert this CD into your PC which is unable to load the operating system properly. Close Notepad, and then start again to boot from the CD of Killdisk and follow the instructions on the screen to kill disk.

A brief description of the process here is Killdisk.

Use it to wipe the entire hard disk, highlight (80 h) and press f10 (you will also find Hague to enter a confirmation and press enter) - ( This will make sure to include all of the partitions , and then start the process - this may take a few hours!).

When the process is complete, remove the CD from Killdisk, insert your first HP recovery disk and then hold the power button until the laptop turns off then restart the laptop to try the installation again.

Kind regards

There is another thing that you could do that provide the Windows key is always visible on your COA sticker.  Since it was a multi-configurable system you should know it was professional, Home Premium or ultimate edition. Please be aware that what I propose will not contain the goodies HP provided with recovery disks, you will need to reinstall all your programs and data.

Go to this site and download the version of Windows 7 ISO which matches what you had initially and have your key ready.

Is knowledge how laptop computer recovery without a disk?

I am new to this problem
So please if you know how to do

    Hello!

First of all, you should check the user manual. There you can find all the details on how to recover a Toshiba laptop.

In any case, if your laptop came without recovery disk you can create one using the Toshiba recovery disc creator. That's why you need one or two DVDs and then you have factory on a DVD.
If you created the recovery disk, you can boot from it and follow the instructions on the screen. Windows will be reinstalled, and you get back to factory settings.

But you can also recovery a Toshiba laptop without recovery disk. So go to the F8 advanced boot menu and choose fix my computer. Now, you can choose the Toshiba Recovery option and follow the instructions on the screen.

If you have any other questions, you can search a bit in the forum. You will find a sufficient number of threads on the recovery procedure.
In addition, you must check this document:

  • How to recover the Satellite A100 without recovery disk

    Hi all

I'm trying to restore my laptop A100 settings * without * a restore CD via pressing a sequence of buttons during startup (which must launch the recovery on the hard drive partition).

It is really unfortunate, I know it can be done as I did before butI for the life of me forgotten what was this key sequence I can't find the article I stumbled initially on!

I've scoured the web looking for this key sequence and all the proposed solutions, I fell on do not seem to work.

    Unsuccessful attempts so far:
    -Press and hold 0 power
    -various suggest 'F' keys: F1, F8, F10
    -now the delete key

Note: I guess it may be worth mentioning that pressing F8 actually take me on-screen "start options advanced windows" but I don't have any recovery options.

Yeh Yes, I'd * extremely * grateful if someone could point me in the right direction here because it makes me crazy... the fact that I've done this before, it that much worse!

As I know the A100 series has not been fitted with the recovery of HARD drive partition!
And so I doubt that any combination of keys will start the partition recovery!

So you only chance to recover the laptop is to take the recovery disk, then boot from it.
You can also try to install the disk Microsoft Windows operating system and then could install the drivers of Toshiba on the pilot site of Toshiba!

  • Pavillion G6 - error recovery disks

I'm trying to recover my laptop Pavillion G6 - I was sent 3 recovery disks, I first used the 1/2 drive and got to the screen to select the cr/dvd player.

After about 2 minutes, in that I get a french message and then get a code 0130-ABU-ABF

    What should I do?

    Thanks for the help.

I talked to the technical support, followed all the steps, done a disk check hard and everything seemed ok, but run very slowly, so they asked that he be sent and they will load the software.  I guess that if there is a hard drive problem, it will be reported to me!

  • Not possible to recover the Satellite Pro with recovery CD

I have a laptop Pro satellite that I set for my sister in law... .long history... (don't remember model No, as I m at work at the moment!) but its only 4 weeks old and she had done something redicuous in it, so I decided I would use the recovery cd to reinstall the operating system.

Decompresses the image on the disc, it tells me to remove the source, and then restart your computer. On reboot, the system is fair in the xp loading screen then a windows message will appear saying "Windows is not fully installed - please run the Installer", then it restarts!

This is a common problem, or anyone can shed some light on this, since it is a new laptop, nothing done to the material and I'm using the correct cd that came with the system.

The system went twice in xp and started the installation wizard (where you put in your usernames and passwords), once this finishes and he attmpts to go directly into xp, I get a blue screen and the inevitable gel!

I don't want to sound pious, but please don't ask me if I checked the hardware is attached or anything, I'm actually a technician for a farm, I have just no experience of this problem of recovery cd or the Toshiba machines.

Any help guys out there could give me would be greatly appreciated as Id hate to have to return a bloody new laptop to the manufacturer, unless its absolutely necessary.

    Thank you very much
    Andy

    Hi Andy,.

The restore CD contains a "ghost image" of the operating system that will contain the system of basic Windows and most of the drivers and specific software from Toshiba.

Boot from the restore CD normally takes a Win98 operating system and then restore the image of "ghost" on the hard drive.

Normally, the recovery process will ask you if you want to restore the entire C: drive or use the 'expert' mode in which you can partition the hard drive. Obviously if you reach the point where the system then restarts the restoration of the "ghost" image is complete and the Windows installation process began

I can only assume that there must be a problem with the disk hard if the 'Set up' process problems later. As an IT professional, you can access a boot CD appropriate (such as Norton Disk Doctor) in which case I would suggest scan you the hard drive for potential and problems if necessary to return the laptop under warranty for repair.

  • How to recover files before using the recovery disk?

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Equium and when I turn it on it loads the screen where you log does not appear, it has a black screen with a mouse, and I need to use the recovery disk to get back to normal, but I don't want to format the hard drive that I have a lot of files so it is anyway to recover the files?

    Hello

In my opinion the easiest way is you remove the laptop HARD drive and put it in a box external HARD disk. Then, you can connect this external HARD disk to a different computer now and have access to the files on your HARD drive and you can perform a backup.

An alternative you can boot from a Linux Live CD and back up your files on a different USB devices.

  • Satellite L305D fails to recover with recovery disks

It gets to the point where I guess it's almost over... It's the first time I had to recover my computer, but I had to replace the hard drive that is entered into the computer once already by Toshiba.

But in the end he comes up with the ERROR: 10-FA12 - 045D I searched this site for the error and nothing found... If someone could suggest something I can do to recover my work laptop it would be much appreciated...

I also already wiped all of the computer the first time it is come with this error and then retried the recovery disks.

I never heard of this error too.
When you get this error exactly?

If you don't l t have this error before, your new HARD drive could be faulty. By controlling the Hitachi Drive Fitness Test

  • If I do a factory restore is he inviting me to make recovery disks

I recently asked a question here than in other comments, someone made me wonder why I didn't create recovery discs if case the HD did not. I do not remember that something done to make them and I thought that's what the D: / (recovery drive) was for. I do not, and now I understand, what good the recovery partition remiss of the HD. But a user of this forum says I should have done recovery disk, as I said, if the HD has failed. I don't know why if it is so important is not spatterred on the whole screen, MAKING YOUR RECOVERY DISCS NOW. It does not seem to make a big deal of it. She also had a pc once who did not invite you to make records, although most do as a normal procedure, said. However these discs are not available online. Here's my question, and I don't think you need to know the DNA of my particular computer. It's a pretty generic question of HP. But I will mention that I have a new Desktop 23 HP Pavilion running Win8. The recovery partition is on D: /.

If I restored the full operating system with the recovery partition, would I invited once more to make the records? Then I would have them. I do so little with disks. I guess it should make records of data CD that can write and rewrite?

But the new big question, if I do a restore using F11 it would invite, make me the discs?

    Hello

Yes, if you use the f11 option to do a "Factory Reset", you will once more invited to create your recovery media - this can be created either several rewritable DVD (usually around 4 DVD + R discs) or on a USB Flash drive if you prefer not to use discs.

More details about the two options of recovery media can be found in the HP document on the following link.

Create recovery media - Windows 8.

  • Can I restore a single partition using the Toshiba Recovery disk?

I need to know if I can restore just the windows on my partition main because I don t want to format all my HARD drive.
In my second partition I have backed up all my files and I don t want to erase.
Please can someone tell if I can do this?

If you have a Toshiba Vista recovery DVD then the whole HARD drive will be formatted and it s not possible to restore the operating system on a single partition.
Therefore, you should always backup before using this disc

  • Can not recover my laptop using created recovery disks

My hard drive crashed, I sent it to the warranty. She came back, but I wanted to reinstall.
Before that, I did 4 recovery disks.

Thus, when the laptop turned on DISC 1 was in and I could choose Windows 64, after a while he told me to put in the next disc. I did but no progress. I tried all the disks and none of them worked.

How should I proceed from here?

Unfortunately you can not force the installation of recovery to work. Either it works or not.
Are you using these discs for the first time now?

By the way: what model of laptop do you have?

F8 and disc into the optical disc drive. Sorry, but something is wrong with that.

Either you can install Vista again using image stored on the HARD disk (option repair my computer of F8) or use facilities Toshiba recovery media. There is no sense to use both at the same time.

I have a laptop hp DV2410us. My hard drive of 160 GB is just came out, so I put a 320 GB drive at 7200 RPM and 2 new cards memory sticks for a total of 2 GB. The same memory type more then it came with. I ordered the hp recovery disk. everything seems to load ok, but it keeps restarting after it enters windows and all programs has finished start up. As norton and windows sidebar. There is a small popped up tht box for perhaps a second down on the menu bar tht has been one of the downloaders of system files. Its called fbi Director of mistletoe, I think tht was the name. I tried to click on it until windows stops and looks like it is trying to pull up a screen but closes and the system stops.

I'll check back every hour approximately. And let me know if you need more information about the system.

Update: I have advanced and tried to reinstall vista with the recovery disk. It's always the same thing with restarts it. But now it came with a black screen with the word err2err3 on the upper left of the screen. I even restarted the thing several times and tried to use f11.

    Hey IBdarts

problem with the hp recovery process, you will need to contact hp direct

It's their recovery process not microsofts

I suggest that you tell them that you have installed a replacement hard drive that you have bought yourself

    Hello

If you n t find the recovery disk more and you want to restore the original settings, ask an authorized service provider. Guys can put in order a new disc of recovery for you.
You have the address of the guy?

Alternative, you can also sell the laptop without recovery disks. Just wipe the HARD drive before selling it with the HARD drive like s boot cleaning tool Darik and nuke or some other program.

But I think you get a better price if it comes with recovery disks ;)
