Impossible to update NVIDIA GTX 960 M video driver on Y50 - 70 portable running Windows 10

Hello, I am unable to upgrade the NVIDIA GTX 960 M video driver on my 70 - Y50 runs Windows 10. The version of the NVIDIA driver I have currently installed is 353.62.

When I try to install the latest driver from NVIDIA GeForce experience, it tries to install but I receive a message that the driver installation has failed and then Manager device displays the video card NVIDIA as a video controller with 3D exclamation next to it in the other devices section. The same problem happens if I use the driver software upgrade option in Device Manager.

Hello, I currently stock r2 of Alienware x 51 with an Intel i5 running my graphics card is a 1023 MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 645 (NVIDIA) and a block of power SUPPLY 240 w. I wanted to upgrade my graphics card to play the most demanding games like Arma 3 resources. I know that I could get a gtx 750ti graphics card no problem, but I want more. I've been looking and the card that seems to fit in my price range is the Nvidia GTX 960. I did research it and getting mixed reviews weather or not, he'll be back in my case. I spoke to several representatives of Dell and Alienware, and some say I can get the 960, some say I need a compact 960 and some people say that I can't pass the 960 at all, even with a 330w power adapter. I know I need to improve my diet from 240W to a PSU 330W before even thinking 960 GTX. I would like an administrator or someone with information to guide me in the correct path. If I can't get the 960 regular but need to get a smaller 960 please link me to some good options that would be compatible with my device. I don't mean to make any changes to my turn. Thanks for your help, I certainly need it! I am looking for the correct graphics card for some time now.

  • Specific information about WU offers updated NVIDIA GTX 295

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate.  Windows Update has recently offered an optional update for the graphics processor NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 (approximately 145 MB).  As I started to use a Windows 7 computer, I don't remember that Windows Update has ever offered an update for Nvidia graphic processor before.  I'm already using the latest NVIDIA driver that I get them directly from Nvidia (who was a setup file about 117 MB).

I would like to know more information on this update before I go to download it and install it.  I want to know specifically what that is and if different versions of Nvidia driver (it contains additional features specific to Windows 7).  How can I do this?

I appreciate your time and expertise.

    Aravaipa,
Updates of specific hardware driver that are offered through Windows Update are from OEMs.  Microsoft will host the updates of equipment for manufacturers but not write or modify.

  • U2414H, Dual, laptop, Windows 10, Nvidia GTX 960 M, no STDS to the second monitor?

    Hi all

I hope that I have included all relevant information in the present, but ask if I missed something. I bought two of the screens U2414H and a Windows 10 laptop computer powered by GTX 960 M with HDMI and Mini DP ports. My goal was to be able to the Garland of the whole U2414H screens so I could use my laptop out and about, and when connection back to the monitors of would have to plug in a cable and get two screens. In theory, but...

I followed the instructions and using two Mini-DP to DP cables, connected the mini laptop RFP RFP on the first screen. DP on this same screen highlights Mini DP on the second monitor. I activated the DisplayPort 1.2 on both of these screens. I can't get any signal on the second monitor, it boils down to the power saving mode.

Otherwise, I decided I would try using two cables and ditch the idea of DP STD I can at least use the two screens. So I have laptop HDMI to a screen and the MiniDP to another, and therefore, that alone will never work at a time. Individually, they work very well, both with HDMI or DP. But the two connection fails every time. When I tried to connect a display of alternative supporting HDMI as the second, which works very well.

So I had an autour reading and it seems that it is common to have problems of connectivity to these screens. This brings me well on my two questions:

    (1) is there something that would work?

    (2) assuming that there is nothing that works, Dell can swap these screens for two that will achieve what I need?

    Thank you

    Dave

In MST, DP 1.2 should be turned off (disabled) on the second monitor.

Laptop AMD on--> U2414H CDM to cable DP--> DP U2414H #1 in (DP 1.2 enabled) (Port #3 in the image)

    #1 U2414H (Port #5 in photo) DP--> DP U2414H CDM cable--> 2 # U2414H CDM in (DP 1.2 disabled) (Port #4 in photo)

When you use only no STDS, is the lid of the laptop open all trying to run two monitors of U2414H? This laptop can even run three screens, laptop LCD + 1 # U2414H + 2 # U2414H?

  • HPE - 580 t NVIDIA GTX 750 Ti video card upgrade

I had a lot of problems with the AMD video card with my HP HPE - 580 t came.

I think spend my HPE - 580 t to a nVidia GTX750 Ti video card.  I note the GTX 750 Ti is built for the slots PCI-E 3.0 and I think my HPE - 580 t has only slots PCI-E 2.0.

This new graphics card works in my PC?

    Surfer995, welcome to the forum.

The GTX 750ti may not work on your computer.  It requires UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  If you wanted to buy an EVGA card, you can contact their Technical Support (1-888-881-3842) to see if they have a VBIOS update so that it can work with your motherboard.  This is your best option.  Your power supply (PSU) will be fine.

  • Pavilion 17 t: how to enable Nvidia GTX 960 M

I'm going through the initial installation of the new system, which includes the Nvidia graphics. All the drivers, devices, etc., seem to be installed for her, but when I check the display adapter properties it shows that I am running on the integrated graphics card Intel 530 and not the Nvidia controller. I can't find a setting that will allow me to switch between graphics controllers. What Miss me?

    The Architect2

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

What you miss, is that your laptop has something called Switchable Graphics - the presence of two video chips different.  The operating system, not you, not switching and is based on the graphic load presented by the applications running in time.

There is no way you can manually switch between the two.

    This is how it works.

    Good luck

  • For the Ultra HD / 4K / HEVC / H.265 video editing: GTX 960 or 980 Ti GTX?

How is it important to have a hardware video-enabled-decoding card?

I am deciding to buy GTX 960 or 980 it GTX for Ultra HD video editing.

The GTX 960 uses GM206 which has only 2 GB of memory, but includes based video decoding hardware.

The GTX 980 it uses GM200 which includes NO video decoding, but has 6 GB of memory and the together better statistics:

    www.Game-Debate.com/GPU/index.php?gid=2935 & gid2 = 2813 compare=GeForce-GTX-980-TI-6GB-vs-GE force-gtx-960-2 GB - sli

For games, the GTX 980 it is 'extremely better' than the 960 GTX:

    http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-980-Ti-vs-Nvidia-GTX-960/3439vs3165

Therefore, not for games, but for ultra HD video rendering, compatible more than make up for the worst overall performance hardware decoding?

From a web forum: "only the GPU GM206 used in the GTX 960 supports full FIXED material HEVC decoding function. The GM200 used in the GTX 980 Ti and Titan X didn't, and the GM204 used in the GTX 970/980 also does not. »

From a site of the magazine: 'we tested different video files on a GTX 960 H.265. Reading has been impeccable for each and every one of them, with only negligible CPU load, which means that they were handled entirely by the GPU. Reading files Ultra HD H.265 revealed no problem either. »

Would the Ti 980 provide also "impeccable" reading of files of the Ultra HD H.265, even without hardware compatible decoding?

Also, perhaps more fundamentally, the 960 even manages Ultra HD? From another site: "If you want to enjoy 4K game, then you will need to invest in a more expensive GPU Setup. For NVIDIA, the choice users clear right now is the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti. »

Because I need to return and then read on the computer I see huge video projects, do I need, more memory/hearts (980 Ti) or hardware compatible decoding (960)?

    Thank you!

Material HEVC decoding/encoding is not supported in Premiere Pro, so that "advantage" is questionable.

You have entered, and it is a process that focuses on the CPU in general unless you are requiring the GPU to commit to its process of adjustment. The GPU is committed when you're scaling, deinterlace, change of pace, change the mix of patterns, etc. If you don't have any function requiring these operations, you will not see the GPU used because it is not necessary at this time here.

I suggest you contact the manufacturer of the graphics card for redress.  Maybe they have a NVIDIA GTX 960 with a level lower vios BIOS or maybe they are going to exchange it for a GTX 660.

Your situation is not unusual as there are a number of positions on this forum where the NVIDIA GTX 9xx series would not work in many old HP PC.  With a few exceptions, the graphic cards of NVIDIA GTX 9xx series would not work in HP PC consumer placed on the market before the 01/10/2012.
