Impossible to upgrade to media player 11 xp

I try to install Media Player 10 for XP version 11. When I check the updates via the Media Player it says has only an upgrade to version 10, which he is already upgraded. When I go to the download page for Microsoft to Media Player 11, it requires a Genuine Advantage validation to be performed first, and then to enter a validation code. When I try to download the validation tool, it says it is obsolete and to download the most recent version. So, I'm going to another page and validate installation of Windows, but it does not give me a validation code, I can enter to complete the upgrade of the media player. How can I get the Player update?

  • How to upgrade Windows Media Player codecs

    Intel/Ligos Indeo Interactive 5.0 (IV50)

Where can I find these CODECS for Windows Media Player Version 11 for Windows Vista updates?  Without them, some of my old files .avi not work or work properly.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi KenF,

The links are in my answer above:

All you need is good Codec - get these if 32-bit.

-Free - CCCP also get free tool of insurgents
    http://CCCP-project.NET/

    FFDSHOW - free
    http://sourceforge.NET/projects/ffdshow/

    Check here:

    Plug-ins for Windows Media Player
    http://www.Microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/plugins.aspx

    ---------------------------------------

VLC needs, of no use so usually Codec as a backup when asked to support associations of files just say no.

    VLC - free
    http://www.videolan.org/VLC/

    -------------------------------------------------------------

If 64 bits and you need codec.

Read this 1st and go that route, or use the one below. (Vista or Windows 7)

    http://www.Vistax64.com/sound-audio/152850-Vista-codec-pack-32bit-64bit-Media-Player-codecs.html

    --------------------------------------------------------------------

If 64-bit - can run WMP in 32 or 64 bit mode.

Or try these: download - SAVE - go to the place where your put them RIGHT CLICK – RUN AS ADMIN.

For 32-bit use these - OR the 32 bit ones listed above which I prefer.

K - Lite Codec Pack 7.1.X (or newer)
    http://www.codecguide.com/

    Use them for 64-bit:

    K - Lite Codec Pack (64-bit) 4.6.X (or newer)
    http://www.codecguide.com/

    -------------------------------------------------------------
You know that you use WMP 32 or 64

And you can use it when necessary because no codex is usually required.

I'm used to be able to download videos on the web using flv/vlc.  With my previous laptop, with XP, there was a small rectangle under the screen that gave me this opportunity.  How can I install this option with my new version of XP?  Also, I will have played poorly burned CD on a drive C.D House/car with music media/vlc victory over them.  How do I overcome this?  Finally, similar obstacle with my mp3 player.  I downloaded several types of software that I fight to become familiar with options are so numerous that I find myself with a lot of Simian head scratches.  "virtually the intructions of braindead" guide please about your answers.  Thank you.

What format are the files on the cd that you tried to play on the radio? MP3 files or audio files?

And HOW burn you to CD?

You can not just copy and paste them on a cd.

Which site you want to go down the videos on the net? If his YouTube, using an addon, if you use firefox

  • Impossible to update of Windows Media Player and Microsoft Security Essentials and the error is "access denied error 80070005."

Apparently an involuntary change of administrative privileges or permissions (Windows XP Pro, SP3) keeps me updated Media Player version 9 to 11 v. and updated virus Security Essentials definitions.
For Media Player, wmsetup.log reports access denied error 80070005 and UpdSpAPI.log reports access denied for the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Settings\MP3Encoding\LowRate registry key. In regedt32, I'm blocked from display HKLM\...\MediaPlayer\Settings and below, and "are allowed to view the current permission settings, but... can make a change." Except that I can't. I can enter the change but get «...» Access is denied"trying to apply them. So this is the first problem that I need help.
But of course it's more than a registry key and the subkeys, because MSE too is affected and will download but not install virus definitions. WindowsUpdate.log reports: failed to install with error 80070643.
My user account (it's the only one!) is part of the Administrators group and all that I tried to verify administrative permissions is positive. This is a new issue. No virus/malware, according to MSE, Lavasoft Ad-Aware, MalWarebytes Anti-Malware.

  • Windows Media Player 12 DRM Security Upgrade 2.5.0.1

GOOD NEWS for anyone trying to upgrade Windows Media Player 12 DRM security (if any)!

If you have, as me, the way to http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/indivsite/en/indivit.aspsite. Discover the button upgrade is grayed out, and remains Gray, EVEN after trying to reset your DRM settings (which, if your computer came preloaded with Windows 7, your computer turns on all the HAL 2000 on you and refuses to let you do), try the following:

First of all, make sure that you run Internet Explorer as an administrator (don't ask me why it's necessary, but it is):

    1. Left click on the Windows Explorer icon,
    2. Left click on all programs,
    3. Scroll down for OverDrive Media Console Software folder, click to the left to show what programs are in the folder
    4. Right-click on the icon of the OverDrive Media Console software in the folder of the OverDrive Media Console software
    5. In the drop-down menu, choose 'Troubleshoot Compatibility' in the menu dropdown.
    6. Choose "Troubleshoot program" on the page "select the Troubleshooting Options.
    7. Select "program requires additional permissions" on the page "what problems have you noticed?
    8. Click 'Next' (Note: in page 'Test compatibility settings for the program', section 'Settings applied', your user account control must show "Run as administrator.")
    9. Click on the "Start the Program" button on the page "Test compatibility settings for the program."
    10. Click on the button "Yes" when asked "Do you want to allow this [OverDrive Media Console] program to make changes to this computer?"

The computer will then take you to the internet.

    1. Go to http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/indivsite/en/indivit.asp. page,
    2. Find tools in the menu topline bar,
    3. Select "Compatibility view" drop the menu drop-down (if the upgrade button is dimmed, outside, on the page, there should be an icon of page damaged next to this item).
    4. This will bring up a text box labeled "add this site:  If "microsoft.com" is not yet entered in this box, you want to do.  Click on the button Add to the right of the text box, and then click the close button. *
    5. The upgrade button should now be black and update of Windows Media Player 12 DRM 2.5.0.1 security should apply when you click on it.  (Note: If the upgrade is successful, when you click on the Windows Media Player Security Upgrade tools in the menu of the Overdrive Media Console software program, he will tell you that your version of Windows Media Player security upgrade is 2.9.0.1)  Don't ask me why he didn't tell 2.5.0.1)

I won't tell you how many days and hours spent combing the Internet for the answer to this problem, but I will say that all the instructions I found to reset my DRM and my user account controls - both the links I followed OverDrive Media: site and sites support Microsoft - did not help.  I was also disappointed to find out that Dell, who sold me my Alienware Aurora R4 for 7 months ago, could not help me with this problem because even if they have installed the software, it is not covered by the warranty.  (They would be happy to sell me a software warranty for $230 / year, however.) Microsoft could not help me - unless I agreed to pay $100 first - because I have not bought the software directly from them.

Please, if you try this and it doesn't work, please post a reply.  I'm sure I have listed all the steps I took and if I missed all that I want to correct this post with the steps / missing information.  I don't want ANYONE feeling too frustrated that I was trying to get this problem is resolved.

    * Please note the new information added in step 4 on 09/12/2014.

I, too, did any proposed at each site to install this upgrade. The 'upgrade' button has never been grayed out, but after I click on it I get the error message "Windows Media Player has encountered a problem while playing the file." I don't play a file or music or whatever it is, just try to update the security settings, so I guess that the upgrade file is what is meant. I had a lot of hope for your correction! Any other suggestions?

    Debbie,

Just curious - when you went to the indivsite page, have you tried selecting compatibility view from the menu on the menu bar of topline drop-down tools before you click the upgrade button?  I know you said your button is not grayed, but perhaps he'll do before the upgrade can be applied.
If you have selected the compatibility view from the menu on the page indivsite drop-down tools until you click the upgrade button, do you have a digital one coded to go along with the error message error "Windows Media Player has encountered a problem reading the file'?  Please let me know. I have some other suggestions based on your response.

Yes, it is set to display all websites in compatibility view. And no, no digital error code comes up with the message. Either way, if it helps you, after I closed the error message button is grayed out and said "Upgrade Complete" But, no upgrade has been applied, it is always the version 2.5.0.0.

I could finally accomplish this task by running IE as an administrator and disable protected mode. Worked like a charm.

  • Microsoft should update Windows Media Player to play all kinds of videos and upgrade the Windows Photo Viewer to open all types of photos

Original title: microsoft should spend there windows media player that can play any type of vedio.it will traditionally use media player to download other players instead.

Microsoft should there be upgraded windows media player that can play any type of vedio.it will traditionally use media player to download other players instead. and also upgrad windows photo viewer to open all types of photos...

The latest version of Windows Media Player that could open almost any multimedia file was version 6.4. Starting from this version, Microsoft have not been allowed to allow WMP to play almost any type of media file, and they were taken to court top.

That's why Microsoft does not now permit. Apparently, the decisions of the Court are there to give other media players, including Apple stuff, a foothold in the market. I don't think Microsoft 3rd party codecs use same lawyer in case they have trouble.

    1. Windows Media Player 10 has opened a photo successfully dvd but a message "Microsoft has encountered a problem and needs to close" came on the screen several times.  Had to re insert the dvd picture, but it would open again each time.
    2. Tried the cd drivers and troubleshooting dvd and was informed of my dvd could not be played because there was no decoder for dvd.  Following instructions and chose a windows xp approved decoder pack download - dvd has chosen the Roxio CinePlayer DVD Decoder Pack.
    3. Then upgraded the media player to Windows Media Player 11.
    4. After that, dvd and cd rom could be opened by the media player 11, but neither the DVD or cd ROM readers would recognize the photo DVD in question had been inserted into one of these discs, and even less to be opened by the media player.
    5. Program scanner and photo used to transfer my photos printed digitally on a dvd are trademarks of Hewlett-Packard.  Contact the center of the photo, but they could not provide me with any guidance or even particular HP photo program they used to create the dvd picture.  I remember the photos were stored on the dvd in JPEG format picture and was able to open by Windows Explorer before I've updated since WMP 10-11.

"" I remember well, the pictures are stored on the dvd in JPEG format picture and was able to open by Windows Explorer before I've updated since WMP 10-11 ""

Looks like you have a data dvd, which has just the pictures on it and it will not be seen by WMP, who needs a dvd-video disc.

It should always open in windows Explorer and you should be able to see your pictues it.
