In LR white balance selection tool

just a general question here: when you use the pipette "white balance selector" tool in LR, is it actually to neutralize the grays in PS, i.e. through the pipette midtones in an adjustment of levels? just curious...

No, LR White Balance controls and the pipette affect the tonal full (0-100%) will also. This is a global function for the correction of conditions of temperature color taken from view. For photos of the 'mixed' lighting, you can also use the Brush tool to paint on specific areas of color correction. It works very well.

This is a known bug. It was found soon enough after 3.3 RC came out he has a chance to set at 3.3 was released in the official version, but you never know with certainty what will be corrected. All you can do is wait.

  • White Balance selector disappears when moved across the image

    Hello

I use LR 4.4 on an iMac.

Does anyone know why the White Balance Selector tool would disappear when crossed an image?

It seems to set up a vertical line with an arrow up and down.

The areas of the image where it disappears appear to be compliant, in other words, it disappears on the same portion of the image eveytime.

UPDATE: since posting the foregoing, a few minutes ago I noticed that my cursor behaves eractically. For example, on a different image from the one used previously, in the library using the Magnifier module the cursor changes a magnifying glass with an arrow pointing to the right.  It does this on the same part of the image each time.

Weird cursor issues are a FEATURE of the APPLE operating system.

There are complaints on the Web site of the system APPLE os since 2005.

The last time I checked there are 30 pages of discussions about this on apple's site

    https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/os_x_mountain_lion.

I don't think that APPLE has an idea on how to solve this problem. We see in many applications, most photoshop, lightroom, textedit, exxcel and other.

Pray that something happens soon to be released 10.8.4.

When it is over an unselected path or shape (as in, something that you can select if you click right here), it shows a black box. When you're not selected anchor, it shows a white box.

Similarly, according to the few videos of youtube, in basic tools, should I get

    1. highlights

    2. the shadows

    3 white

    4 black

    Instead, I get

Why are there differences in the option? Is it because it is a trial version? Someone, please help me.

Scroll the camera Calibration Panel. Choose process: 2012 for the image. The reason why you do not see the sliders, it is that the image is currently using an older process, an earlier version of Lightroom.

You say you have lost the tab "tool"?

If so, just right click on one of the other tabs and select "basic" in the context menu that appears.

  • Adjustment of the white balance

When you select a neutral grey target with the white balance tool, are the RGB values on the values of magnifying glass on average according to the scale of the magnifying glass? You can test it for yourself.

Zoom in on part of the image.

  • Bridge CS5 applies wrong white balance during extraction of thumbnails (only for raw files)

Hello to all the assistants of Adobe,

Photographer welder here. I use a Canon T2i and I've been shooting raw with automatic white balance.

After I downloaded the CR2 files to the bridge, bridge starts thumbnail extraction. It is then that the problem begins: I watch bridge thumbnail extraction photo after photo, turning them into white balance bad one by one. After the bridge is done, I open one of these photos in Camera Raw, it shows the picture in the "custom white balance". I could go back to "As Shot". But now, each Bridge photo has custom white balance and is difficult to bridge. This screenshot shows what looks like my bridge after thumbnail extraction...Screen shot 2011-04-22 at 12.25.07 PM.png

Yesterday, just out of curiosity, I took a few photos with the settings of the different on the camera white balance. I downloaded their bridge and bridge too wrote all the white balance settings. Then I imported the same pictures (from the same files) to iPhoto, they appear with writing correct balance. Please see the second screenshot.Screen shot 2011-04-22 at 12.05.38 PM.png

The third screenshot shows a unique photo that I opened the bridge to Camera Raw and the same photo, as it appears in iPhoto, the original two.

    Screen shot 2011-04-22 at 12.16.09 PM.png

Again, this only happens to CR2 files. All TIF, jpeg files are fine.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

    Any ideas?

First of all, taken of view Raw has the advantage of the evolution of the color temperature (balance of Pentecost) to what ever you like everything you shot in camera.

It seems once you have registered a custom default setting white balance and it is applied to each new file because you said bridge to do. The best way out of this is to open a raw file in ACR and the basic right tab you see a small icon (next to the base word) submenu. Click on it and the line select "Reset Camera Raw defaults" downstairs.

Also decide if you want to stay in 16-bit mode (you're now as shown in the blue line under the preview). If you want the chance it to 8 bits, just click on this blue line and choose your options in this menu. Just do it once for that same camera files, ACR remembers the settings for you.

Using 16-bit mode has advantages when the color corrections using critical (but you should also replace the ProPhoto color mode in my opinion). The downside is that the 16 bit doubles compared to 8-bit file size

Having put default ACR should immediately make your thumbs by building of new inches and previews, but if not, you must choose purge the cache for the file from the menu Tools / cache / purge the cache for the file. Now the new settings will apply.

It may take a while so let bridge do its job properly before starting other jobs in bridge (see the activity bar downstairs left to check if the bridge is still cached).

  • White balance setting

In CS5, how to adjust the balance of whites of an image? I open with levels and choose the sample in the Image to White records and I select the white part of the image.

1 - is the correct way to do this? What happens if white is white or completely white. Is there a more precise way? With video, you set the camera with a white card. Do you use a shade of white to calibrate the images?

    2. what happens if the image doesn't have a white inside for me to choose? Can I bring in a shade of white for this?

    Thank you!

When you have something tell from the picture that is yellowish, but you know he should be gray/white, on what you click White Balance tool and it will correct the image so as to make the thing you clicked on neutral grey/white

  • quick selection tool doesn't work not as expected

I used photoshop for the last 3 weeks to cut out pictures and create a transparent background.

exb4 and after editting in ps6.JPG

Method: Open the img in ps6. then use the Quick Selection tool to select the area of interest, then click on the tab 'Edit' then choose cut on the menu drop down.

Now the same method gives me a white background.

I have reset photoshop by reopening with clt alt shift and reset to default... same result

also reinstalled photoshop... of the efforts in vain.

I don't know what is happening here, but your steps really do that properly in all cases. Try this.

    (1) make your selection, you see the moving dotted line

    2) click on the layer mask icon in the indicated measure. Note the mask is shown on layer 0

    (3) on the screen, it will look like this with a transparent background, but nothing has been deleted

    (4) If you are not comfortable with being there layer mask, select the mask and right click then choose apply layer mask. I would say it's totally useless, but some people find it easier to understand.

    (5) the layer will look like below. I know its tempting to cut and paste, but ultimately you lose things, but to do this way, you are in complete control and can go back if you make a mistake.

  • Magic Eraser and Quick Selection tool

I want to erase the white background of the following image so that it is transparent, where there was formerly a white background.  Using the background Eraser is ineffective because it is difficult to erase the background without erasing parts of the image that I want to keep.  I was able to use the quick selection tool to select the white background and then use the Magic Eraser tool to erase the white background, but I have two problems.  (1) I can't get the Magic Eraser tool to erase the White Center, which shows to be selected.  (2) I can't the selected background to deselect.

  • Selection tool sensitive to color in a limited area of the image

    Hi all

For my work, I am interested in the measure of the area of pixel of the dark (black) in the sub picture, even the smallest. For less complex images, I used the magic wand and the selection tools to select my black areas and have Photoshop CC 2015 do measures on my selection. The problem with the image below that I have is that there are so many blackheads and they are scattered all over the image. Non-continuous the magic wand option unfortunately does not work for me in this case, because some of the dark spots have the same color as the other dark areas in the picture. So far, I only managed to make a good choice by selecting each point individually, which is a very tedious and somewhat subjective work. What I would like is a sort of quick selection tool with a tolerance as the magic wand option, so I can just fly over areas with small black to select tasks that these. I don't think that this is available in Photoshop, I'm looking for alternatives. That would also work for me, it is to have a way to limit the area that the magic wand tool selects objects of. For example, set a small area (as one of the white ice blocks) and then use the selection option discontinuous of the wand in this ice blocks so it will only select the dark stains on the ice block. If I can do this several times and combine the selections, I should be defined as well. Is it possible to achieve such a thing in Photoshop? In other words, what I would basically is the type of features in the background removal tool, but then make a selection in the foreground based on a color. All other ideas, suggestions, tips and tricks are also welcome! I hope my question is clear and that there is a solution for my problem. I'm very new to photoshop, so please be very clear in your answer, so I can understand every step .

Edit: I noticed that I posted this maybe in the wrong part of the forum (?), I was a bit in a hurry at work. My apologies. If there is no matter what mod around to place them in the right sub-forum, please do!

    Herded slick (PS).jpg

    It works for you?

To see it in full screen, double click on the image.

1 use the curves to increase the contrast

    2. place an empty layer below the image and fill it white

    3. return to the top layer, click on the layer to bring up the layer Style

    4. in the section mixture if move the top left right slider until the black dots you want are isolated.

Also, consider using this technique after the first change the mode to grayscale
