In Windows XP my desktop icons keep re - organize after I place them where I want. How to prevent this? I don't want to block them in place.
Even when I block them in position, they have always re - organize after the reboot.
This could be a registry key permissions problem, or a corrupted registry value (which stores the pos icons when each logoff). See: fix for the icons of the Office put in getting not saved after restarting Windows

My Windows 7 desktop icons will be a small box around them, the box is white and has perforated lines. Not a big deal, all simply boring. It is usually around the last icon I used. But sometimes randomly will appear around, most frequently the trash.
Have you tried to go to customize and change your theme? Maybe redefine things will help the issue. You can also try re - install (or looking for a newer version of) your graphics card driver. You can normally find this by going to the manufacturer of your computer site, click Help, and then by entering your model number.

prevent this happening again?
I know that I can change of ownership and then each individual file permissions, but it would take two days or something, I can stop this in a simple way or how do I restart my computer?
This user is logged on to Microsoft? I mean if this is the case, then I guess I don't have to worry?
I would appreciate an answer so =)
This is how it is supposed to be.
TrustedInstaller is a built-in account that allows to modify Windows itself, for example during the installation of the updates.
This is to prevent the Windows system files or inadvertently or maliciously crushed.

Hello
Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.
You did changes to the computer before the show?
This problem may occur if there is a problem with the graphics integrated drivers for the card. Integrated card provides lower performance unless a updated drivers are installed or iconcache.db file may be corrupted which is responsible for the desktop icons.
Try the following steps to re-create the iconcache.db file:- Go to the Start screen
- Type Control Panel in the search box
- Open the Control Panel->, click the window Folder Options->when the Folder Options appears.
- Select the View tab and check the option "Show hidden files, folders and drives" : while you change the folder options, you can also disable the option "Hide extensions of known file types": see file extensions should make it easier to recognize the files we'll meet along the way. Don't worry, if you do not like these changes, you can always change when you are finished.
- Then goto C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local, where [user] should be replaced with the actual login name of your user account. While in the AppData\Local folder, double-click Microsoft, then Windows, then on the Solution Explorer, to navigate to the following folder:
C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer You will find files Iconcache.db-> to force Windows to re-create its icon cache, you must remove all iconcache files that appear in this folder, and which should fix all the damaged icons that you see on your Windows 8/8.1
desktop computer. Also, I suggest you to update to the latest graphics drivers from the manufacturer's Web site.
Download and install the drivershttp://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/all-drivers
Hope this solves the problem. If the problem persists, you can write back to us and we will be happy to help you further.

1. click the button Start , then click computer .
2. in the toolbar, click organize , and then choose folder and Search Options .
3. click on the tab display , check to select the Show hidden files and folders option and click OK .
4. then enter the following directory:
