• How can a computer breakdown, I get my Windows Mail files?

  I was under the impression that by moving files from my server to the local folder all my emails have been saved on my hard drive. However, my hard drive crashed and I had to use data recovery to recover my files. Now I can not find the windows mail files. A tech guy told me that all my emails were actually only saved on the application not on my computer, is it true? You export the files in order to save messages? How do you do that?

  "C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail".

  If you used a customer web email msgs are stored on the web messaging server, if you used windows mail applications they are saved on the disk, your tech is not very tech.

  You are is Windows Vista Home version. Open Internet Explorer and click Help | Everything. You get the error message is a known problem with IE8, although I thought that was patched.

  1: Download the zip file. Right-click | Extract all. Click on the result and run it. You will see buttons for compact and repair the database.

I must be overlooking something, but I just can't understand what it is. Can someone help me please. I can't really find any reason why it does not work.   Just installed IE9 and when I get an email from, say a supermarket or any other commercial company that I signed, with an illustration with details, everything that appears on the page is a square box where the picture should go AND a small red cross on the top of the LH of this box, so now, the page will be full of these boxes (and a Red Cross) , but there is nowhere on the page where I can allow the illustrations to appear... Unlike IE8 which had a yellow bar appears at the top of the page of the mail telling me that they had prevented the illustrations and if I wanted to see the full page... I would then click on the yellow box and all the illustrations on the page would be allowed!

  So, how can I get these illustrations/photos to appear when I know its from a trusted site? I see nothing on the page that now allows me to do as he did on IE8

  My file that I use to store emails from Windows Mail has been altered somehow. It is under \AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsMail\WindowsMail.MSmessagestore

  I can not get the Import Wizard to find and use the file above. I can locate if I go through my computer, but when I click on the file it just open Windows Mail.

  Is anyway to fix this corrupted file? Or even just to rename so I can get in to see saved emails?

  The WindowsMail.MSMessageStore file is only a database that contains information about the messages.  It contains no messages.  The messages are in directories named after the names of folders in WinMail and are stored individually as eml files.  So if you are looking for messages, search *.eml.  Seewww.oehelp.com/backup.aspx for background.
