Restore Windows Mail Backup with Extension .fol

I get a hard drive crash.  I found my backup of Windows Mail folders on my backup drive, but they all .fol extensions.  I really need to restore files.  How the readable?

I think it's normal for them to have .fol extensions (but I could be wrong).  Here is an article on the process that can help: http://ist.mit.edu/services/software/windowsmail/vistaenterprise/backup.

If this does not help, please repost your question in the Forum program: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistaprograms/threads where people who specialize in programs like Windows Mail (and issues such as the recovery of mail from a car accident) will be more than happy to help you with your problem.

  • How to restore Windows Vista backup on Windows XP computer?

I was about to lose my hard drive on a computer with Vista Home Premium. Stored on an external hard drive. Not able to find my Vista rescue cd, I so installed XP Professional I've had. Attached to transfer backup files, but will not transfer.

    Original title: Save transfer problemsproblems

    Hi Marty,

Windows Vista backup files are in. Disc format hard virtual which is only supported in Vista. You would have to restore them on a computer that is running Windows Vista and then copy the contents of the Windows XP computer.

  • Windows Mail problem with setting up a new email address

I have a Gateway with Windows Vista Home Premium laptop. I have an email account already set up in Windows Mail that works very well. I try to add another e-mail account. In windows Mail I click Tools, accounts and then select Add. then the email account selected. I went and set up the pop server and smtp server correctly, but for some reason I can't access this email account. I have double and even triple to verify the password. I must be overlooking something, but I just can't understand what it is. Can someone help me please. I can't really find any reason why it does not work. I'm not a newbie and know my way around the computer well enough. But I am confused.

    Charter.NET parameters are real simple...

    Incoming server POP: pop.charter.net

  • Cannot open Windows Mail Pages with installed IE9

My comp: Edition Vista Home Premium SP2

    Windows Mail to: 6.0.6000.16386

Just installed IE9 and when I get an email from, say a supermarket or any other commercial company that I signed, with an illustration with details, everything that appears on the page is a square box where the picture should go AND a small red cross on the top of the LH of this box, so now, the page will be full of these boxes (and a Red Cross) , but there is nowhere on the page where I can allow the illustrations to appear... Unlike IE8 which had a yellow bar appears at the top of the page of the mail telling me that they had prevented the illustrations and if I wanted to see the full page... I would then click on the yellow box and all the illustrations on the page would be allowed!

So, how can I get these illustrations/photos to appear when I know its from a trusted site? I see nothing on the page that now allows me to do as he did on IE8

It started as soon as IE9 has been downloaded with automatic updates from Microsoft

You are welcome. Wish that I was not the bearer of bad news.

Just one thing : when it comes to enter your hotmail address, use afalse address, do not use the word 'hotmail '.
When everything is done, and Windows Mail says it's finished, go back and erase the false address, re-enter the real e-mail address.

  • Inbox Windows Mail files with filesize = 0KB

I use Windows Mail on Vista Ultimate 64-bit system. After more than a year of use, I noticed in the task manager that the CPU usage was 100% all the time Windows Mail is running. After much research, I found more than 72 000 files in the folders/Inbox whose size is 0 KB. After their removal, I have observed the normal use of the processor. However, the files of 0 KB began to reappear. I download email from POP3 servers. When comes to spam in (and I get a lot of it a server apparently unprotected) Windows Mail puts it first in the Inbox and then I see it is moved to the junk e-mail folder. After receiving the e-mail, I noticed that the number of new files of 0 KB was almost always equal, but sometimes a little less, the number of new junk emails that have been downloaded. So, I guess the 0 KB files are created as spam is available in. However, they are never deleted, unless I do it manually, and they continue to build. Is it possible to prevent them being created in the first place?

No doubt.  Sounds a lot like an Anti Virus email scanner gone rogue.  You run one?

Why you don't need your anti-virus program to scan your e-mail

  • Restore Windows Mail to correct the view

I was trying to see photos on an email that I received that was too big for the normal screen, so I had to keep "signs" to the left to the right hand in sight.  Now my screen is too far to the right, so I can't read my emails in Windows Mail, the mouse does not work as the cursor is not visible so I ust close by pressing Alt + F4.

    Hello

The problem is specific to Windows mail?

    Method 1:

I suggest you to click twice on the title bar to expand the window full-screen and then close it using the Open X. an another e-mail and check if the problem persists.

    You can also try:

Take the corners of the window and drag it to the format full screen. Do not use to expand. Close all other windows first via the taskbar and the latter. Windows will remember the size of the last closed window the next time that you open the program.

    Method 2:

I also suggest you to check the display settings.

    Change the screen resolution

    I hope this helps.

  • Windows Mail works with Vista Home Premium?

Windows Mail is a part of Vista. It works better.

Return to Windows Mail (on Vista Home Premium) is itself by automatically recording messages, contacts, etc., or what I have to manually back up?

If so how can I make a copy the original messages remain intact in my Windows Mail program?

I expect to burn the back of files on a CD / DVD for safe keeping.

If these instructions do not work for you, thanks for posting the link above.

First, set up a new folder to receive the soon to be exported messages. Then...

Open Windows Mail > file > export > msgs > select Microsoft Windows Mail > next > Browse > place you in the newly created folder and click > next > right after the short simple guest of here > when finished, you will see this 'your messages were exported in Windows Mail format' > click Finish. • Acronis restored Windows XP crashes with BSOD on startup

I tried to restore an image of Windows XP Pro created with Acronis True Image Home on a virtual machine VMWare, using VMWare Player.  When I try to boot the system I momentarily get a screen blue, followed by a never-ending cycle of reboots.  The same phenomenon occurs in Mode without failure.  I used to be able to restore it but we have migrated the installation of a modern system of Levono and is no longer possible to restore on a virtual machine.  I guess that there is a problem with the drivers HD in the new system.

I tried to install the converter VCentre - but it only supports older versions of Acronis.

This is unfortunately true. However, if you first restore the image to a virtual disk using Acronis and then run VMware Converter using the option 'Configure the Machine', the converter must inject the proper drivers.
