Incorrect folder hierarchy

Hi... my hierarchy of folders for my Lr is somehow not appearing correctly... I don't know what I'm doing wrong or if it's a bug.  I have my Lr configuration so that all my photos are imported by date and then create collections for specific events.  Running the latest version of CC.  Take a look at my files section in the left pane, it should look like this:

Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 10.21.38 PM.JPG

All tangled in folders by year, with subfolders for months and then further subfolders for each date.  It's the way it is organized on my hard drive:

Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 10.24.29 PM.JPG

It is the way I have always kept my files.  Recently, however, I just noticed that some dates are at the top level of the folder

Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 10.26.01 PM.JPG

You can see 1999 is fine, but for some reason, the year 2000 to 2010 are all showing at the highest level - is more nested in years and months - and a few other folders month ("01" and "10") are there as well.  However, when in fact, I click on the link 'Show in finder', they nevertheless seem to be nested and in the right place on my drive.  Take the record in 2000-01-11 in the picture above.  If I click on 'Show in finder' thus, it appears:

Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 10.28.41 PM.JPG

Note at the bottom of the image, you can see it is from the till properly nested by year, month and day then.  Any ideas how I get it to display properly in the window of the file in Lr?  I'll have to scroll through thousands of individual days to navigate around just saw vs years and let me pick the year.  In addition, it is started again with the year 2014 and 2015:

Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 10.30.28 PM.JPG

You can see until October, he was handsome, but starts then fall in individual days again against month/day.  Looking at the 2014-03-26 above folder (that first after October to less nested in 2014, but not monthly), while this is not how I would ideally, it corresponds at least to the structure on the hard drive (I need to figure out how to fix).

I tried to restart my Mac restarted and Lr.  In addition, I got an error "Cannot modify the module" at the opening of Lr that required me to uninstall and reinstall Lr.

Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi rtkane,

I'm with wobertc in terms of how import photos into the folder structure you intend, but it looks like you are saying that the structure of folders in the folders in Lightroom Panel tells you something different Finder shows. It's hard for me to verify this with the screenshots you provided because it seems that in the files Panel, you do not have revealed the structure of your complete application. (Lightroom unfortunately does not show this for you by default.)  Make a right-click on your highest level folder (or one of them) and choose view the Parent folder, and then do so for the record, he reveals. Do this to as many files as necessary for you to see your complete folder hierarchy.

I hope that this then will show you that there is a match between Finder and Lightroom. If the records are then not where you want, drag and drop them (using the files Panel, no viewfinder!)  So always be careful to do as suggested by wobertc regarding highlighting of Lightroom Masters in the Destination panel in the import dialog box and choosing to organize by Date (looks like you use yyyy/mm/aaaa-mm-jj)

On an unrelated note, I would say rename each file to add a description to shoot after the name - right click and choose Rename.

As you can see, all of my videos are in a carefully constructed hierarchy.  It works with my old server media (Rivet for Mac).  On the E4200, however, all of those MP4 files are merged.  My Xbox shows folders as 'Albums' and 'Date', but they don't really mean anything - all of my videos are blurred in these files and there is no way that I can find something.

Here is the configuration of the media server:

Can someone tell me how to solve this problem?  If I can't find a solution, that the media, the server of this router functionality is absolutely useless for me.

Thanks for the reply, but that does not help.

I found the solution.  It seems that the router (or the software of Twonky, I guess) merges all records top level together, treating them as a virtual folder.  Somehow, this disrupts the software and he loses the folder hierarchy. I expect each scanned folder to appear as its own entry on my Xbox.

I fixed it by scanning only the root folder.  Everything works now as expected.  It would be nice if I could disable all sorting options, because they are unnecessary, but I can live with that.

How to create and modify a folder hierarchy?

Here's how to change the default template for a folder:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/70819-windows-explorer-folder-view-settings.html.  Default behavior is to select the model based on the first type of file placed in the folder (you must choose something).  Vista sets thefolder type template according to what are the types of files in the window and the settings display window Explorer. This will show you how to resetthe Windows Explorer folder view settings, disable Automatic folder Type discovery and increase theview of the folder cache to have Vista don't forget display settings, model of file type, size, or position of a specific window for when it was still closed to the location of specific path.

It does not work with the Sub record under, Open with, open in a new tab (Internet Explorer), etc... dialog windows of type through the goodFile menu bar item. • How Windows Explorer can be configured to browse the folder hierarchy instead of behaving like a browser?

I work with files in a folder tree.  I want to browse this folder hierarchy, just as I did in the original copy of Windows Explorer in Windows XP.  I want to use the arrow keys to navigate up and down, and when I'm in a folder and click the previous button, I want it to go up one level in the folder hierarchy, just like he used to.

Now, when I hit the 'back' button, Windows Explorer behaves as a browserand goes to the last folder that I have read.

It's so frustrating!  She interrupts my thought process and the movement of my work.  If I wanted to use a browser, I use Internet Explorer.

How Windows Explorer can be configured to browse the folder hierarchy instead of behaving like a browser?  Remember the "unwebified" of Windows XP Windows Explorer version?  This is what I want so I can get back to work effectively.

Windows Explorer 7 does not have the up button like XP, however, in the address bar you can select the folder in the hierarchy (sometimes called the trail of bread crumbs) to return.

Windows 8 added the arrow pointing upwards.

  • Where can I find a tutorial on the folder hierarchy show?

I have 11 items first, which is also the organizer of the program elements. And I also have Photoshop Elements 10. The organizer elements with video editing software, that's what I'm interested in good. I think that my folder hierarchy is not fair. I want to straighten but I don't know how. Can someone direct me to a tutorial on how to work with the folder hierarchy.

This could be another issue, but it could be related to my confusion about the folder hierarchy in the Organizer. On June 10 I was copying some photos from my hard drive to the Organizer - probably a stupid thing to do. While I was doing this, the pictures folder (display and organize digital images) not is more took me to all my photos on the hard drive. The pictures folder's subfolders, Documents, music, Control Panel on the Windows 7 Desktop to the right of the menu stuff start.

When I click on images now I get two files: Adobe and photos. The Adobe file has these values - size: 0 bytes; Contains: 0 files, 1 folder; Created the: Monday, June 10, 2013; Attributes: Read-only (applies only to files in the folder. I deleted the folder Adobe several times but he returns.

What I really want to do, is to restore my folder image to its original state so that I have access to all the photos of my HDD immediately instead of clicking around these issues. Vaguely, I think that something I did to the folder hierarchy in the optimizer has messed up things on my computer.

Of what you have listed here, it looks like you have moved your records photo up to a level... sort of. I don't know why computer appears in my images (or perhaps there is just one problem with the way you have indented the list here...). But it looks like you have a lot of your image files moved to the parent folder where one normally would expect them to be.

The folder my pictures is the name used by Windows XP, Windows Vista and later, the record was simply named images. If I read your right of the list, it looks like you want to take the faces folder that is located in the folder of Tommy and move it to the pictures folder (the one at the bottom of the list, just above D, E, F, G). You will also need to move the folder of Clowns (to the top of the list), in the case of faces that you've just moved in the previous step. If there are images in my pictures, pictures files and/or the faces (the three all at the top of the list), you will want to move them to the folder of images at the bottom of the list.

All this can be done in the elements Organizer, simply drag and drop a folder to move it from where it is at the location you want.

For any questions with the help of the elements of first, you'll want to post in the forum first parts of responses: http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere_elements

  • Where is bookmarked in my favorites folder hierarchy?

I have a comprehensive set of bookmarks, organized into a hierarchy of nested folders. Sometimes the bookmark I want is not where I expect to be. I can find it easily by using the search engine to organize bookmarks and I can then move to where I think it should be kept, but I can't find out where it was hidden! I put it somewhere just as sensitive? She was stored or moved inadvertently to the wrong place?
It would be useful that, when a bookmark is highlighted in the right pane of the window to organize it, its current location could appear in the left pane emphasizing and expanding its hierarchy of folders. If not, perhaps the full path to the bookmark could be given in a column in the right pane which can be made visible or not by the user by right clicking on the column headers of the usual way.

    Install Show Parent Folder: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7372/

    • After installation, tools > Modules > Extensions, click view the Parent folder, click Options, set your options, there are only 2 Articles.
    • After installation, the bookmarks > organize bookmarks, click views, click show columns, click Parent folder to place a check mark, the new Parent folder column in the right pane. Rearrange the columns in the right pane by dragging the column to the desired position headers.

  • After you import the image files into Lightroom, Lightroom does not show my folder hierarchy.

Before I started using Lightroom, I got my pictures organized in a hierarchy of folders.

    My_imagesAA1
    A2
    BB1
    B2

(The actual structure is deeper than this example a few levels.)

I imported the A1, A2, B1, B2 files in Lightroom and gave them the keywords that reflect the folder structure.

Now, when I look in Lightroom under folders, the structure is gone (it is still there on my drive). All I see is a list of A1, A2, B1, B2 files, so it is difficult to navigate to the folder that I want to work with.

How can I get Lightroom to display the folder structure in that my images are in fact?

Found a solution. Right click the folder and select "show parent folder.
Repeat this operation several times until you see the folder structure you want.

  • Muse and folder hierarchy files

I don't know if I've just presented it already but this new diuscussion screen canme up just after, so go again us.

I'm about to start using the Muse for the first time. In the past I have always used the files/folders/subfolders/moresubfolders like my hierarchy for the stie. One of the main reasons was that I like to subfolders and files of name appropriate to the content and files inside. In my view, that gives you an advantage with the SEO work.

I don't see this availability on Muse well. Muse just lists all the files in the site as a separate file in the folder root and only lists one after the other. Or does do things differently.

Maybe when you have a page in the top line of the page layout and set a few pages within this page, which starts a folder and subfolder thing going.

I really want as much information as possible with this because if Muse is not a form of hierarchy, then I might have to use another program such as Dreamweaver.

    Can anyone help please.

I am trying, with some success:

If it comes to my planned structure:

    /CSS

    Item

    / images

    \Scripts

    / fly<--this is="" the="" "subfolder"="" which="" will="" have="" its="" own="" index.html="">

... make the page to the Muse that will go in the /fly folder (we will call this file index_fly.html).  This index_fly.html page will reside in the .  (To have a backup) copy in your folder/fly and rename it index.html.  Then, using an editor like PSPad, do these search and replace your index.html file in the folder/fly :

replace the href = "with href =".. /.

    replace css / with... /CSS/

    replace fonts / with... /Fonts/

    replace images / with... /images/

    replace scripts / with... /scripts/

Save this file copied (in the /fly folder).

There are still a few "adjustments" of the file copied to the /fly folder, but it could work... I'll let you know whether or not I have the total success!

  • How to search the folder hierarchy by the parties of a folder name. Is there a library similar to library bookmark folder to facilitate the Organization of record?

How can I search by folder for the email account names and names of folder of bookmarks by keywords or parts of the name of the folder? Is there a way to enter and to associate keywords to send/benchmark folder names?

We put all our transactions in messaging and bookmarks in a reversed under the account name and appropriate ISP user tree structure, but often end up with double taxonomic entries under multiple ISP accounts such as Roadrunner or Google-mail address for the same Windows user account and the name. Sometimes I create a same folder in both accounts. Be able to search by folder_name in all e-mail accounts in the same Windows user name would be wonderful to correct the bifurcations in taxonomy of folder name.

What I do not right - please?

    Please - Chris

I use the add-on for quick folder move - it has a MRU list and a box of text in which you can type a folder name, with an incremental search phase.

    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Thunderbird/addon/quick-folder-move/?src=API

You my also find the QuickFolders useful add-on.

I also wonder if your deposit under the ISP account is the best way to go. I would look of combining messages from accounts under local folders into an independent style of the account.

  • With the help of files from a Linux saved / home folder hierarchy, how can I get these bookmarks in new installation?

Prior to this announcement, I read the information available on import-export-backup but unfortunately, I became very confused.

    Location:

On my PC at home, I backed up my Ubuntu + Mint/home folder [dual-booting to installation] trees on a flash drive. In the two Ubuntu + Mint, I used Firefox 3.6.3

Now, I installed Mint with Firefox 3.6.3 on a new hard drive.

In my new installation of mint + Firefox, how to use the files in my backup folder trees / home to give my new Firefox these same bookmarks?

I have never "exported" or "supported" My Favorites; I just copied my trees set/home folder on a flash drive, assuming that the files would be there when I need them. I see a bookmarks.html file in my new installation, but it seems only toolbar links and not a few bookmarks, I created in the past days. And I don't know what to do with the file "places.sqlite".

Should I find "places.sqlite" files in the backup folder tree / home and copy / paste them somewhere on the new hard drive?

I didn't want to risk experimenting this - could hurt!

    Thank you very much.

Firefox 3 and later no longer use bookmarks.html to store bookmarks.

You can restore latest JSON bookmarks in the folder bookmarkbackups or copy places.sqlite on current Firefox profile. Both methods will replace the current bookmarks with the new bookmarks, so I you must preserve existing bookmarks and then export them to a HTML file and import this file later.

  • LV 2014 project "save under" folder hierarchy unnecessarily duplicates.

So this is my first post as a guest . Here go us.

Problem: Manually call "Save as...". "on a project results in a LabVIEW creating a folder structure in my destination where the first subfolder is 'C' and then reproduces the structure of folders completely to my files.

Details: I have a project saved to the location 'x '. I want to duplicate the project, but NOT its dependencies. In the project window, then I'm going to file > save as... > duplicate file .lvproject and content > content select copy. I remove all the files I want NOT of LabVIEW to copy. At this point I notice something very strange which MAY BE a LOOPHOLE: there are three elements to the tree top level representing hierarchies of files in the dialog box. The first is empty. The second starts at 'C' and the third starts at 'c' .

When I run the backup from my location of the target, what I expect is ...\target location\.

    What I see is ...\target files (x 86) location\C\Program------------.

The additional "C\Program Files (x 86)------------' is unexpected and cause actually the paths of my source to exceed the length of path of windows of 255 characters.

I note that this only happens with * some * projects. The attached file ' tree vacuum element.png "shows the first anomaly. The "tiny C.png" shows the second anomaly. And then 'long File Path' shows the final result.

Additional information: no files are at any point in time.

Figured it out! So here's the deal. The problem is that I had a structure diagram with a Subvi missing off inside! ARRRRGHHHHHH! This approach fits all of my observations. Loading the VI manually which had the subVIs missing, that I was not informed because they were in a diagram disable... so LabVIEW does not compile them. BUT apparently cared enough to try to copy the LabVIEW Subvi.

So when LabVIEW went to make a copy of the project, she noticed the missing subvis EVEN IF THEY WERE IN A DIAGRAM DISABLE the STRUCTURE. Because LabVIEW couldn't find them he created the directory structure all the way up to C.

I don't know if it's a bug, but I think that LabVIEW should do a better job, some passing way, let us know that it was impossible to find the screws when copying.

To reproduce the problem easily just create a new project with a vi that calls a Subvi missing, wrap the Subvi call in a diagram to disable and then try copying, I described in my first post.

  • How to organize all of the programs in the folder hierarchy?

I just got Windows 7 after using XP for years.  I like to organize the list of programs on the start menu, depending on the area of functionality (support, business, games, etc.) instead of having a long, long list of programs.  How can I do this with Windows 7?  Right click on the Start button does not open the folder that contains the list of programs.

    1. click on start.
    2. right click on all programs, and click on "Open All Users".
    3. If you want to sort the programs under just your profile, right-click on all programs and click on 'Open' instead.
4 sort away to your heart's content!

You can also get the directories of programs through Windows Explorer by copying-pasting the following into your address bar and press ENTER:

    By user: %appdata%\microsoft\windows\Start start\program
    The system-wide: %programdata%\microsoft\windows\Start start\program

Hope that helps, have a nice day!

         @{N="OS Name";E={$_.Guest.OSFullName}},
         @{N="CreatedTime";E={($_ | Get-VIEvent -Types Info | where {$tgtEvents -contains $_.Gettype().Name} | `
                                                           Sort-Object -Property CreatedTime -Descending | Select -First 1).CreatedTime}} | `
         Export-Csv "C:\report.csv" -NoTypeInformation -UseCulture

An alternative would be to store the date of creation in a custom attribute. As documented in Alan who created this VM? post.

Once you have the date in a custom attribute that is much easier (and faster) to include in a report.
