LV 2014 project "save under" folder hierarchy unnecessarily duplicates.

So this is my first post as a guest . Here go us.

Problem: Manually call "Save as...". "on a project results in a LabVIEW creating a folder structure in my destination where the first subfolder is 'C' and then reproduces the structure of folders completely to my files.

Details: I have a project saved to the location 'x '. I want to duplicate the project, but NOT its dependencies. In the project window, then I'm going to file > save as... > duplicate file .lvproject and content > content select copy. I remove all the files I want NOT of LabVIEW to copy. At this point I notice something very strange which MAY BE a LOOPHOLE: there are three elements to the tree top level representing hierarchies of files in the dialog box. The first is empty. The second starts at 'C' and the third starts at 'c' .

When I run the backup from my location of the target, what I expect is ...\target location\.

What I see is ...\target files (x 86) location\C\Program------------.

The additional "C\Program Files (x 86)------------' is unexpected and cause actually the paths of my source to exceed the length of path of windows of 255 characters.

I note that this only happens with * some * projects. The attached file ' tree vacuum element.png "shows the first anomaly. The "tiny C.png" shows the second anomaly. And then 'long File Path' shows the final result.

Additional information: no files are at any point in time.

Figured it out! So here's the deal. The problem is that I had a structure diagram with a Subvi missing off inside! ARRRRGHHHHHH! This approach fits all of my observations. Loading the VI manually which had the subVIs missing, that I was not informed because they were in a diagram disable... so LabVIEW does not compile them. BUT apparently cared enough to try to copy the LabVIEW Subvi.

So when LabVIEW went to make a copy of the project, she noticed the missing subvis EVEN IF THEY WERE IN A DIAGRAM DISABLE the STRUCTURE. Because LabVIEW couldn't find them he created the directory structure all the way up to C.

I don't know if it's a bug, but I think that LabVIEW should do a better job, some passing way, let us know that it was impossible to find the screws when copying.

To reproduce the problem easily just create a new project with a vi that calls a Subvi missing, wrap the Subvi call in a diagram to disable and then try copying, I described in my first post.

  • Suddenly, folder on the left trees on "save under ' / 'open' dialog boxes are missing...

    Hi all

Today I discovered that my folder trees suddenly disappeared. What I mean is the following:

    (For example)

    1. Open Notepad.
    2. Go--> save as
    3. I won't be able to see the folder hierarchy.

  • "Save under" operation on an Excel (Urgent)?

    Hi all

I have an excel file in my project directory. I want to save or make a copy of this file in the directory with a different name, as that is, I want to do "save under" operation above each time the user clicks on a button in excel. Thanks in advance

    Best regards.

    Umer.

If you only want to save the file under a new name, in the callback button you can:

    1. (Optional) Use FileSelectPopup to let the user choose the file to operate on. Function returns the full path of the file in a string variable

    2. Use SplitPath to extract the name of the file and edit it accordingly with standard string functions

    3. Use MakePathname to rebuild the complete folder path in a new string variable

    4. Use CopyFile to operate the copy

All this does not open the file to examine its contents.

Instead of print, I get a page "save under" I can not help to appear. The page includes: "save under" in the upper part with a box of savings to (E.g.: documents), then has a list in any of the 'name', 'Update', 'Type', 'Size' and 'Tags' in the upper part. Then, a list of items such as games, my stationery, new folder, Sansa Updater. Then at the bottom there is a list for 'File name' with an area for the name. Then under that a 'save As Type' (PDF). Then a backup or the Cancel button.

How to create and modify a folder hierarchy?

Here's how to change the default template for a folder:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/70819-windows-explorer-folder-view-settings.html.  Default behavior is to select the model based on the first type of file placed in the folder (you must choose something).  Vista sets thefolder type template according to what are the types of files in the window and the settings display window Explorer. This will show you how to resetthe Windows Explorer folder view settings, disable Automatic folder Type discovery and increase theview of the folder cache to have Vista don't forget display settings, model of file type, size, or position of a specific window for when it was still closed to the location of specific path.

It does not work with the Sub record under, Open with, open in a new tab (Internet Explorer), etc... dialog windows of type through the goodFile menu bar item. These don't seem to be able to have their size or their position to recall. For the latter, you can use the free programhttp://autosizer.en.softonic.com/to resize them.

Here is another article on how to modify the columns in Windows Explorer and sort in Vista:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/108665-column-customize.html.  This will show you how Add, Remove, move, change the widthand change the sort order of the columns in Windows Explorer in the way that you want.

  • Cannot use, "save under" to save the information in the missing desktop icon

Whenever I try to use the, "Save as" command in Word 2007 or the appearance of Windows 7 theme page to save on the Desktop icon on the left side of the page, it is impossible, because the Desktop icon disappeared completely.

This means I have to record information in example Library\Documents, why?

    Anyone solve the problem?

How to reset the Windows path, which should allow me, "save under" information and possibly other paths to the desktop (icon)?

The desktop icon is normally located in the "Favorites" group at the top of the left pane. Click on the small arrow next to Favorites to show the links it contains.

If she's really gone then you can put it to go back easily.  Open Windows Explorer, find your desktop folder, select it, drag it to the favorite icon to the top of the left pane, drop it on the Favorites.  Who put it there.  [He puts a shortcut on the desktop in the favorite group]

Note that Favorites is extremely poorly named.  It has nothing to do with favorites, you are probably familiar with Internet Explore.  It's actually a set of shortcuts in whatever you chose to put files and its list is displayed in C:\Users\yourusername\Links if you take a look here.

  • Incorrect folder hierarchy

Hi... my hierarchy of folders for my Lr is somehow not appearing correctly... I don't know what I'm doing wrong or if it's a bug.  I have my Lr configuration so that all my photos are imported by date and then create collections for specific events.  Running the latest version of CC.  Take a look at my files section in the left pane, it should look like this:

    Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 10.21.38 PM.JPG

All tangled in folders by year, with subfolders for months and then further subfolders for each date.  It's the way it is organized on my hard drive:

    Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 10.24.29 PM.JPG

It is the way I have always kept my files.  Recently, however, I just noticed that some dates are at the top level of the folder

    Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 10.26.01 PM.JPG

You can see 1999 is fine, but for some reason, the year 2000 to 2010 are all showing at the highest level - is more nested in years and months - and a few other folders month ("01" and "10") are there as well.  However, when in fact, I click on the link 'Show in finder', they nevertheless seem to be nested and in the right place on my drive.  Take the record in 2000-01-11 in the picture above.  If I click on 'Show in finder' thus, it appears:

    Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 10.28.41 PM.JPG

Note at the bottom of the image, you can see it is from the till properly nested by year, month and day then.  Any ideas how I get it to display properly in the window of the file in Lr?  I'll have to scroll through thousands of individual days to navigate around just saw vs years and let me pick the year.  In addition, it is started again with the year 2014 and 2015:

    Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 10.30.28 PM.JPG

You can see until October, he was handsome, but starts then fall in individual days again against month/day.  Looking at the 2014-03-26 above folder (that first after October to less nested in 2014, but not monthly), while this is not how I would ideally, it corresponds at least to the structure on the hard drive (I need to figure out how to fix).

I tried to restart my Mac restarted and Lr.  In addition, I got an error "Cannot modify the module" at the opening of Lr that required me to uninstall and reinstall Lr.

Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

    Hi rtkane,

I'm with wobertc in terms of how import photos into the folder structure you intend, but it looks like you are saying that the structure of folders in the folders in Lightroom Panel tells you something different Finder shows. It's hard for me to verify this with the screenshots you provided because it seems that in the files Panel, you do not have revealed the structure of your complete application. (Lightroom unfortunately does not show this for you by default.)  Make a right-click on your highest level folder (or one of them) and choose view the Parent folder, and then do so for the record, he reveals. Do this to as many files as necessary for you to see your complete folder hierarchy.

I hope that this then will show you that there is a match between Finder and Lightroom. If the records are then not where you want, drag and drop them (using the files Panel, no viewfinder!)  So always be careful to do as suggested by wobertc regarding highlighting of Lightroom Masters in the Destination panel in the import dialog box and choosing to organize by Date (looks like you use yyyy/mm/aaaa-mm-jj)

On an unrelated note, I would say rename each file to add a description to shoot after the name - right click and choose Rename.

  • Is there a way to change where InDesign CC2015 registers a "save under" by default?

Is there a way to change InDesign CC2015 where a "save under" by default? In previous versions, if I did a "save under" document, it automatically chose the same folder the same in that original document was. It makes sense, especially if you save a version update of a file. In CC2015, it automatically records the last folder you did a "save under", which can be very annoying, requiring either a series of extra clicks, or scratching your head and trying to figure out where your paper was on his next, you try to open it.

Nothing has changed. If the file previously recorded in CC 2015, the dialog box will default to the place where currently the folder. Otherwise, the first save as is considered to be a new file in the same and will default to the last place one record under took place.
