Incorrect function of disk - initialize - WD20EARX management

I bought a WD20EARX to 2.0 on SATA drive
It appears in disk management as not initialized
When I try to boot I get the error "incorrect function".

I get the same message on my Win7 x 64 system and on my Vista 32 bits of the system (judged as records internal and external - result remains the same)

any help would be welcome.

    Hello

Go to the Device Manager and remove the drive from CD/DVD to the list.
Then access the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    Then restart the machine.

I m not very well if this will help, but in many cases this work around was very helpful

  • Error installing Fallout 3:-'Default functionality', component 'Fallout3', file: E:\data2 cab, error "incorrect function".

Original title: 'Incorrect function' Fallout 3

I have Vista 32-bit, all the elements for Fallout 3. It starts to install then a box pops up saying characteristic-'Default Feature', component 'Fallout3', file: E:\data2 cab, error "incorrect function".  I have the original disc, no copy, I cleaned the disc. I don't know what else to do?

    Hi tsp2u61,

Usually, when you get this error, it means that your CD cannot be read.

You can check if the drive works in another computer to make sure that the disk is not damaged.

You can try to copy all the contents of the installation of the drive on the local hard drive and install from there and check if you can install

    a. right click on the desktop, create a new folder and name it as Fallout 3

    b. Insert the diskette in Fallout 3

    c. Click Start and open computer.

    d. right-click on the CD / DVD drive and click Open.

    e. press the Alt key and click on modify.

    f. click on select all.

    g. still once, press the ALT key and click on copy.

    h. Ouvrezledossier Fallout 3 on the desktop.

    i. press the Alt key and click on paste.

Now try to install files copied on the desktop and check if it works very well.

If this is not enough, you may need to get in touch with the help of the game maker.

  • "Popup error ' A:\ is not Accessible, incorrect function" when you try to read the "A" drive in Explorer.

When you try to read a disk in the 'A' drive from Windows Explorer, I get a Popup with a white 'X' in a red circle and a message that "A:\ is not Accessible" "Incorrect function" and an OK button at the bottom.  It happens to any disk, formatted or not, with the files or empty.  I replaced the disk drive - no help.

I don't know if it's a windows setting went crazy or a motherboard problem.  My BIOS seems correct.  If I do a 'fill' of window hardware in administrative tools he tells me that I have data on the disk.

    I have XP - SP3.

    Any ideas-

go to a command prompt and type "sfc/scannow" (without the quotes) and let it run... see if this is helpful at all.

Hope do you feel better soon.

  • M30: incorrect function error message

My m30x will not read a cd - r, that I created on another comp. the error message D:\not FLEURIDAS appears and says incorrect function. should I be worrying. or is it just a damaged drive

    Hello

I also had these problems when I burn a CD in my office and read in another PC, it is not recognized!

After collecting information on the net, I had this conclusion:
The CD wrter are becoming faster and each quick written CD has one or more failures! It depends on the CD burner!
The manufacturer of CD is also an important thing! I tested different sellers of CD and found some brands that do not have so many failures!

    Sorry!

This behavior is noticed by many users on various forums, and it is obviously not new. If I understand you right reading CD and DVD is not the problem.

  • & quot; incorrect function & quot; error on PostUIMessageEx in Labview with the Labview runtime

    Hello

I have a TestStand GUI developed in c#. Now, TestStand has some modules Labview which must send the UIMessages to the interface graphic (it is too deep in Labview code to bring back to TestStand to send the UIMessage).

When I use the complete edition LabVIEW 8.6.1 development version, all right, I can see my messages. Now, when I go to run Labview 8.6.1, the node to invoke PostUIMessageEx gives me an error: incorrect function (error 1).

I have tried restarting PC/TestStand/Labview without success. Is that all that I'm missing?

    Thank you

  • Windows XP SP3 - reader DVD - RW 'Incorrect function' on blank CD

I get an 'Incorrect function' error on both of my readers of DVD - RW on Windows XP. I investigated the issue for a few days and came away empty-handed.

    1. I tried to delete upper/lower filters in the registry. This helped to ensure that they are detected but nothing else.

    2. I tried to update the drivers for the two drives via firmware update. This makes them as readers of DVD - RW instead of just the CD players, but I still haven't burn the ability.

    3. I tried to edit the registry in order to see a 'Registration' tab on the properties of the drive. Even after that change it, the tab never appears. I tried to switch between settings (1, 2 or 3) between each of the two drives, but it makes no difference in the combination.

    4. I ran various "Fix - Its", including one that claimed that the two discs were not able to burn. See #4.

    4. I tested two drives with third-party software, and they work much like the burners. However, the vendor I work with that requires Windows to be able to do the burning. I worked with them and they insist the problem is on my end and revealed no useful. I'll assume it's Windows and not their own software which poses problem.

    Any help would be appreciated.

If they are IDE drives, SATA, make sure that the jumper pins are correct, if so,

uninstall both in device mgr, restart, once thru, output, pc shutdown.

Move the connections on a different IDE slot, reset the pins of the rider as needed, restart

PC. XP will reinstall their restart. If the connection of different worked, cable

or card controller pc are bad... In addition, update the chipset installation software

for the Council, it gives xp drivers software to work properly...
