  You can check if the following is useful.

  Method 1: Run the next Fixit tool to check the issue.

  Your CD or DVD drive cannot read or write media

  Method 2:

  Step 1: Uninstall and reinstall the Device Manager DVD player. Automatically search for updates to the firmware on the manufacturer's Web site.

  a. click the Start button and then right click on my computer. Click on properties.

  b. click on the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

  c. now, expand the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives, click with the right button on the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive and click on uninstall.

  d. restart the computer.

  Step 2: Log on to the DVD drive manufacturer's website and install the latest updates from driver\firmware.

  I don't think that there is a way to just disable Roxio. For more help, you can contact Roxio support.

  You can try to remove the drive from the Device Manager list CD/DVD. Then you can access the registry and could remove the

  Just recently, my satellite pro m76e ceased to recognize blank CDs. If I stick a CD it recognizes that it is a CD, but if I click, it throws an error message indicating that "D:\ is not accessible.   As you say all the CD and DVD is recognized, but only the blank CD cannot be read.

  My computer (Satellite P20 S203) does not recognize my second Bank of memory (1 GB). I have two banks of memory of 1 GB installed. BIOS reports only 1 GB, Windows reports that 1 GB and my Linux so he says only 1 GB of memory.   Hello res04n70, it is possible the CD laser has become defective or even dirty, since you mentioned, he began to act gradually upward. The DVD has a separate laser. This may explain why the DVD works as it should.
