  The 3200 only supports drives that are more capacious 2 TB in bays 1-4. In the bays, 5-12 you are limited to 2 TB drives.

  There are a few limitations of expansion for RAIDiator - x 86 4.2.x

  1 cannot extend over 8 to over the life of the volume, so if the capacity of the volume is 1.8 to when your last made a factory default (erases all the data, settings, all that) you can't expand beyond 9.8 TB

  2 cannot extend beyond 16 TB. Do a factory default (erases all the data, settings, everything) with the disks in place. However, with for example 8x2TB and 4x4TB using X-RAID2 it would create a layer using 12x2TB then try grow to use the 2 TB remaining on 4 TB drives and fail. You could use Flex-RAID and create several volumes.

  Note our RN3220 and RN4220 do not have these limitations of expansion but they use a different OS and file system

  You could get a 3220 or 4220 and new disks and backup data from the former NAS to the new NAS then reverse backup jobs to use the 3200 for backups of your important data.

  Increasing the local data store on the installation disc is not possible through the user interface and cannot be supported. At http://deinoscloud.wordpress.com/2010/05/03/how-to-increase-the-size-of-a-local-datastore-on-an-esxi4/ you can find a walkthrough on how to grow the local data store on ESXi 4.x with ESXi 5.0, you should not use «partedUtil resize...» "instead of fdisk (remove a recreate the partition) to change the size of the score well.

  In disk management, you can not extend any partition unless there is unallocated space to the right of the partition.

  If you have another partition next to C then you need to use a third-party utility to shrink this partition and then move that unallocated space is adjacent to the C drive, allowing you to extend it.

  I have a ReadyNAS NV2 + and I'm quickly running out of storage space. I tried to buy a new NAS 8 bays (from different manufacturers such as QNap), but these see be several times more expensive than 4 bays ReadyNAS units.

  So, my question is this: can I buy a second ReadyNAS and bind it to my former capacity? Ideally, I will like to connect the NAS set 2 to maintain a single volume (rather than having two separate NAS) and run in mode X-RAID2 in order to mitigate the failure of HARD drive.

  Any ideas on how I can do this (or a more appropriate alternative) more welcome!

  You cannot link ReadyNAS ito create one volume, so you would need run the two NAS independently. If you add network locations to windows file Explorer (or create shortcuts to office for different actions), it would be fairly transparent for users.

  Some NAS models support a plug-in (an EDA500), but the NV + v2 is not one of them.

  I am trying to expand my datastore 2 TB, I added a new lun 2 TB of the FC SAN TB 4 even and there is no problem adding this in the existing data store.

  Don't you worry, add an item to an existing data store certainly will not change the size of the block. In any case, if it is an option that you can use two data warehouses, I would. With ESXi 5 (VMFS-5), a single LUN can grow up to 64 ~ to without needing extensions.

  In General, you can do what you want and all this can be done in computer management > disk management.
  I don't know what model of laptop you have, but for laptops with HARD drive recovery image, it is not recommended to change the partition structure because it can have a negative influence on the HDD recovery procedure. If you have ever portable model and you created the recovery DVDs then you can do this. For the installation of the OS, you can use recovery disk installation only.

  Back to your question.
  In my opinion there is no great sense to change this structure of score because you can use the free space on the second partition for your daily activities. I don't know what you're doing exactly, but all your data like mp3s, pictures, movies, office stuff, and anything else can be saved on the second partition.
  You can also set the second partition as the target of download and all files you download will be saved there.
