INDD file locked "in use." No IDLK file. Server says file do not use.

I have a user with am Indd file which does not open in indesign - reports that it is in use by the user.

have used windows open files tool to close all instances open that file from the server. no joy - reports always opens.

I looked for a file of idlk on the part of users, the file server and on the local computer of the users - no sign around.

I had the user completely log off and stop the machine.

Do not usually encrypt us our files, but the files in question are all showing green with checked encryption. -When I try to remove the encryption, the server with the domain administrator account I get access denied - option to ignore, but which do not decrypt the file.

How can I get my user in his file?

Why the files are encrypted?

This sounds like a server permissions issue, not a specific problem of InDesign.

You cannot copy the file indicator is clear enough.

Check your permissions to access the server account and try again.

  • Why can't I open INDD files using exactly the same InDesign CS6 product I've used to create them?

I tried to modify the work sent by another designer. He sent me the INDD files (as part of the packages) but I could not open in my version of Windows of InDesign CS6. My computer told me that I had not any software installed that could open the file. While searching on the forums, I thought it could use InDesign CC, that for some reason any crazy I can't open INDD files created using the CC version and so I have to send him the IDML files. OK, fine, he sent me the IDML files.

IDML files open correctly in my version of InDesign CS6. Large. They open in the form of documents not saved, so I save them as files InDesign CS6. OK, well. Except that I can't open files INDD, that I just created. Yet once, my computer tells me that I don't have any software installed that can open the file. But how can this be? I just create the files using this software!

If I do a test. I can't open a file that I create from scratch? N ° it seems that I can't open INDD files in my version of Windows of InDesign CS6, even if I create them from scratch. Can anyone help?

I found an answer here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2604646

    1. I opened Windows Explorer and went to tools >... Folder Options > File Types.
    2. I selected INDD and click Advanced.
    3. I chose the action open and press edit.
    4. I went to Adobe InDesign (for some reason any, that adobe does not appear in Program Files by default, but if I go to Program Files and then type Adobe in the zone file name and touch open then I can browse the Adobe programs).
    5. I chose InDesign and press open.
    6. Then back in the editing window of action, I added '%1' in the application used to perform action text box, so that all read: "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS6\InDesign.exe" '%1 '.
    7. I entered indesign in the Application text box and then click OK.
    8. InDesign CS6 will now open INDD files. Finally!
  • The use of the indd files related with interactive PDFs

    Hello everyone.

I am trying to export an interactive PDF from a file co-operate with several related indd files. In the linked files, I have URLs and a few forms.

I was able to get a URL to work on a linked indd file. The rest doesn't seem to work.

I'm doing something wrong? Or is it just that an interactive PDF works with a single indd file at a time?

I'm on a bit of a lack of time on this, so any help ASAP is appreciated!

    Thank you!

You lose your interactivity of graphics placed (including placed INDD or PDF files). The only URL that worked probably enabled with a preference of Acrobat/Reader that automatically turns what he considers a direct link URL.

  • error trying to create PDF via Distiller indd files

%% [Warning: PostScript error.] No PDF file produced. ] %%

How to fix a undefined error?

It looks like what you were doing was trying to run distill directly on a document .indd InDesign file. Who will absolutely not work. Distiller processes only the PostScript (.ps) and Encapsulated PostScript (.eps) files.

The appropriate method of creating a PDF file from an InDesign document (no matter whether someone else can advise you) is to open the InDesign (.indd file) document in InDesign, and then use the function export, Save as PDF (print), by specifying the name of the destination file (and directory) as well as the appropriate options (generally PDF/X-4 parameters or printing of high quality performance best results for most of the cases).

  • Combine files to a single PDF is not recognize the .indd files - not supported?

I'm 99% sure that I used the "combine files into a single PDF file" command to convert several .indd in a single front PDF files. This week, I can't do it. First I tried on Acrobat Pro XI, and then today I upgraded to DC. I called Adobe customer support, who was no help - guy who talked were told it is not supported and I have to then export in InDesign. I'm going crazy? What we used to be able to do, but Adobe has changed recently? I see someone else asked a similar question on the .ai files. Seems strange to me that an Adobe product does not support a popular Adobe product!

No, Acrobat is not convert INDD files in recent versions. For both versions, there was a plugin that does this, but opening INDD desired. He has never worked well, I'm glad that they have eliminated it.

  • How to create a duplicate of a book and all its indd files completely separte associated.

What is the best way to create a copy of a book about InDesign (.indb), including all associated indd files? I need to keep a copy of the book for printing and another copy to the EPUB export, which will require formatting changes that are not suitable for printing.

I already copied all applicable indd files in a new folder and then copied the file indb, then "Replace Document selected" to change the applicable path for all indd files in the copied book. However, I fear that all references can still point to the old files of the book. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to say because when I discovered "Divert Options" a reference, it does not show the path of the file to the Document, just the name of the document. I also fear that there could be a few other connections between the old and the files indd or indb duplicate in another way that I'm not aware.

To clarify, I like two completely different file folders with the same indb and several indd files in to start them with, such as all cross-references in the newly duplicated ebook and indd files are compared to the new ebook and new indd files. Is there an easy way to check the path, not only the file name for the reference document a crossroads?

I suspect that the problem is the use of. in folder names.

  • How to upgrade properly with incopy via adobe cc .indd files

    Hello

We have a group of users in our society who have incopy. This is done for a control (no changes to layouts by accident) and to reduce the costs of not having the full suite for each user.

With this environment, we found that...

After any modification of text using incopy, a person with adobe indesign you will need to open the file and update the links so the .indd file will reflect the text changes.

This should happen after verification or any other change editorial along the way. This adds a lot of steps to our workflow.

    Ex:
Alyssa is editing an article of sustainability with incopy (any indesign). It made its changes and save the content (should copy, delete a punctuation etc.). However, when you view the .indd file in adobe CC, the changes do not appear.

Bill (indesign user) should open the file in InDesign, click the update links (it is a pop-up box at the opening) and then save the file again, until the file would reflect changes to text.

Does anyone know of a way around this? It would be great if incopy could push the text changes without a separate step .indd file.

    Thank you
    Andy

    Hi Andy,.

The problem you are experiencing is essentially a function of the InDesign / InCopy workflow. While InCopy can display the layout geometry in which the content is placed, it can only change the content. It's really not different of how works an image Photoshop or Illustrator. Through these applications, image editors can change the images, but they do not apply the changes to the files that contain them. This happens only once opened the page layout file in InDesign.

That said, there are some third-party systems edition out there that can help you with this, with characteristics that make the previews on a server of a "prediction" of the layout once it is updated.

You do not mention if your company uses a system with InDesign and InCopy editorial. If so, you might want to check with your administrators to see if this is possible.

    Best regards

Can someone help me put a correct code here

    Thanks in advance

    Congratulations to all members

    Hello

You must use a valid path to a file or a folder, so:

    //....
    destFile = new File("/Kommuni/LaRe/LareAUTO/341542/" + mFile.name);      // to create an object
    $.writeln( destFile.name + " - " + destFile.exists); // to check if your path exists
myFiles[i].copy (destFile); // to copy file
    //.....

  • inDesign (indd) files are set to open with Acrobat Pro XI and I can't change it

Ive tried following various items of advice offered to people with a similar problem here and without success.

I had a big catch - up in my Acrobat where someone is no longer deleted police default installation used in context menus. Therefore Acrobat was seriously messed up. Adobe technology patiently walked me through fixing the problem but... Since all the .indd files are configurΘ for dΘmarrer with acrobat and I can't put to open in inDesign. The registry key has a couple of these entries number of Monster under indd I can't identify or understand what they represent.

This is starting to drive me crazy. Using 'open with' has no effect. Acrobat always try to open the file. The only way I can now open an indesign file must first open inDesign and search for a file. Fortunately there will open it this way. I have a house full of CC on this workstation and I am not thrilled to the likely hood of formatting of the disc and everything again. Surely someone else had had and solved this problem?

    Thank you

    R

Peter... I told you in my last post how long it took to repair... 90 seconds. Comrade in Germany who told me how to find the hive was on my Google chat online. It was as if he was beside me, tell me what to do. He also told me a few relatively simple facts on how to uninstall Windows works and why using it is a recipe for disaster if you plan to install a new version of the software that you remove. It was the beginning of the problem. Had, I used a specialized uninstaller following registry entries left by the Windows uninstaller, ($30 I might add) the problem would never have existed.

Peter... I suggest that the only reason to delete and reinstall is your proven method to solve the problem because the simplest and fastest method (for someone who is familiar with windows) is to edit the registry as described to me by a MS Certified Engineer. Frans van der Geest is quite right in saying it's an OS problem and just like you, he gave no indication of how to solve this problem. The own Adobe installer is so inefficient to delete the software, when I removed the version 5.0 of ID by using the Adobe uninstaller program, he left traces of the program in the registry and temp folders hidden under the Group of files 'user '.

Once I got the knowledge that I asked here but had to go to a technologically oriented windows forum to get the fix took less time than writing that took this answer. In addition... I now know how to avoid future events of this type and, if necessary, help others to avoid the tedious task of uninstalling software that traces of leaves scattered around the hard drive self while waiting to resume the problem (as it did for me) when a later version is installed.

I suggest everyone who experiences this problem to get your hands on a well known and reliable uninstall application and use it to remove all traces of the rogue program before installing a later version of the. I'm undecided if keeping multiple versions of Adobe software on your system of insecurity when you buy a subscription of the CC is good or bad but you provided unregister the software bought, you can always reinstall if you refuse to CC... Reformatting the drive is probably the only way you'll never completely rid your PC of CC, but seeing that this is the way of the future, why bother removing it?

  • Definition of InDesign CC as default program to open indd files

I have CS6 and CC to inDesign.  I need to keep the CS6 for a plug-in that does not exist yet in CC.  indd files open with CS6 as a default, even if CC is open.  I tried to open it with functionality and look for the CC program, but when I click it, it does not recognize my computer as a possible opening to CC.  I uninstalled CS6 and CC are now available by default, but as soon as I put CS6 back on, no dice.  Any ideas?

Windows tends to use the latest version installed by default. It is theoretically possible to hack the registry to change it, but I have never had luck using the file association that salah described.

You could try to reinstall new CC so it becomes a last installed, or you can buy the Soxy Rorohiko.com plugin, and all your files ID will be oepn in the version they were saved to when you double-click.

  • I can locate a. Via the Folio Builder InDD file?

Hello world! With InDesign CS6, I created a presentation and shared with 6 people via the DPS and Adobe Content Viewer. Now I have an editing to do and results will not appear when I saw on the desktop or the iPad connected to the computer. I think that I may have the wrong file InDesign open since I created different versions while other troubleshooting problems (although I'm 99% sure that I have the right one open). Is there a way I can use the Folio to direct me to the InDesign file right? Just like the way the links palette tells me where a picture lives in my hard drive.

    Thank you!

I found what I'm looking for. In Folio Builder, go down to the display of the Article, click on the arrow in the drop-down list menu, choose repeat the link. This will give the path of the InDD file. Or in my case, since I renamed the InDD file, this confused the Folio Builder thinking that the file no longer exists. If the option repeat the link also allows me to the point of the Article on the appropriate file.

What is interesting is even if InDesign does not know where is the file to, it still retains the entire Folio.
