InDesign CS5 save location

We deal with the large amount of files daily and we noticed that when we open the Indesign files and you want to back up, he headed the new file into the last folder where to save us.  Can we do this so that it always saves to the same location as we opened the file?

Nope, that'e the way it works. If a file SHA was not previously saved (and a file converted from a previous version falls into this category) default ID is the last folder when a backup has ended. A previously recorded file will default to the location where it is stored.

  • Cannot place and Indesign CS5 created swf save into a file, Indesign CS5?

I hope someone can help me?  I created a SWF animated in Indesign CS5 using the amination and deadlines of the panels for use in an interactive PDF.  The SWF exported correctly and plays as expected in the browser.  However, when I go to select the swf file to place it in my Indesign file its greyed out and cannot be selected.

I tried essentially to follow Rufus Deuchler method to integrate animations in a PDF file http://tv.adobe.com/watch/csinsider-design/indesign-creating-interactive-pdfs-with-page-tu rn - and - flash animations /. In the video's swf is available for selection when you use the command import and everything I found on the talks from web on the importation of the SWF in indesign files as a standard feature in CS5 and CS5.5.

I tried to re export the swf file under different names and in different folders. Quit Indesign and restart; try to place the swf file in a completely different indesign file. through all the Indesign preferences to see if there is an option to "activate" swf import and I have even tried doing Rufus and export options exactly when you create the swf file.  Nothing has worked.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I have screenshots and the swf file, I'm trying to import that I can email if anyone would facilitate my growing frustration.

Is it possible to download a version of InDesign CS5.5 after installation of Creative suite cloud? A particular customer only uses CS5.5 and I want the exchange of files to be transparent and not save in idml.

    Hi Georged53990999,

If you have a valid serial number for InDesign CS5.5, you can install it, please make sure that you check the minimum system requirements for CS5.5: system requirements for Adobe InDesign for Mac OS and Windows, as it is an earlier application and has not been tested on the latest hardware.

Yes. Thank you. I based on another post misled. Successfully done this by selecting 'File', 'save a copy... ". "then choosing"for CS4 or later (IDML).

He had little patience and several tests, but I think it was because of hardware (memory) overloaded version CC cloud or something. It was a 50 MB, file of 500 pages and took 17 minutes to convert/save,

Recap: dnuee to CS5, do not use "Export" (IDML); use ' Save as ' or 'Save a copy' and select "for CS4 or later (IDML).

    Advice much appreciated.

  • After Effects save location and ExtendScript

I'm fairly new After Effects script and I'm quite new in the world of programming (1 + years of experience).

My question has several possible answers, I guess, I'm looking for a way to have the After Effects to save its file .aep in a very specific predetermined location.  I need this is because I'm currently writing scripts and tools to integrate After Effects and the rest of Adobe products in our pipeline, so here's the general idea below:

Sets up a project supervisor / sequence / start using the built-in tools in the pipeline folder structure

The supervisor of the brand of precise shots that will be made in After Effects (or maybe an entire sequence or project)

Artist is now working on their shot, they put their environment in the pipeline and the pipeline launch After Effects

    The pipeline:

    • Creates the AE file with a specific name and save location (maybe create and automatically saves the file in the save location for the first time? Or maybe it just opens a new file and tells AE where to put)
    • Creates compositions in the file of EI that correspond directly to the current shots of development
    • Import of images and sequences (etc...), that the artist subscribes to the
    • Built in the queue of rendering with the compositions that he created
    • Defines the locations of rendering for all the compositions

The artist is now beginning to work to do their magic

The artist hits save (cmd + s, ctrl + s, etc...), After Effects saves the project file in the predetermined as the predetermined location.

The above won't happen on the first time, the artist goes to work on the spot.

Now, in this configuration, I'll either need to scripts to tell After Effects, the name of the new file is going to be and where to save it, or maybe I need to have the script generates a new AE file and place it to the right place.  The other idea I had was to simply create a file empty After effects and have scripts to copy this file to the location it should go and rename (this option is an avoid at all costs).

So my question is: is it possible?  Is it possible to have Extendscript directly create a file empty of AE and save it in a specific location without user interaction?  Or maybe just say AE where he's going to save the currently open file and the name of the file is going to be?  The idea is more or less that the artist should not worry about the file structure or where things will go, the pipeline will handle it all.

Ideally I need to work on After Effects CS5 and a larger, but CS6 and superior is too thin, we're pretty well switch to CS6 anyway.  In addition, currently it should work on Mac computers, we have OS x 10.6.8 on most of the machines but we will spend 10.8 any day now, so preferably there backwards compatibility with 10.6.8 but non-essential.

especially the option "ignore existing frameworks.

Don't think it's accessible through ExtendScript.

you have a list somewhere of the names of models that can be transferred to the parser?  Output for example modules so that I can choose between them depending on how I need to make the sequences?

Attribute OutputModule templates p. 112 After the Effects CS6 Scripting Guide PDF indicates the property of models.

    Attribute:

    app.project.renderQueue.item (index) .outputModule (index) .templates

    Description:

The names of all the output module available in the local installation of After Effects.

Still did not get anything with regard to the opening and then saving a new empty file with scripting,

    P. 121 explains registration method. You just give him a file object.

    var myNewFile = new File("~/Desktop/myNewFile.aep");

    App.Project.Save (myNewFile);

I came to the conclusion that I'm missing something, or more Adobe is not adapted to large VFX houses, because the API is so terrible and does not allow developers access to automate tasks and processes.

Yes ExtendScript leaves much to be desired, more you get into it, but it's still very powerful for many things. The only advice I can give for the missing stuff are on demand through their feature request form. At least he notifies them that people want, even if you can't see him for a while. • TIF / TIFF support of import in Indesign CS5.5 / CS6

    Hello

I can't find a reference for the limits of the type of TIFF file as Indesign CS5.5 / CS6 can support.

for example, Indesign cannot import a TIFF file with CCITT Group 4 compression / CCITT Group 3

I thought Indesign can support all kinds of TIFF and I was denied when I tried to import a TIFF file with compression CCITT 4 (black and white TIFF).

"Error occurred during reading of TIFF image. Image may be damaged or incompatible. Re-save the image with different settings, and then try again. »

Can anyone confirm this import TIFF CCITT Group 4 and CITT Group 3 compression is not supported (and Indesign can only import TIFF LZW, ZIP support or no compression) (Honours)?

It seems odd that Indesign adjustable CCITT Group 4 as a format of compression to monochrome images in the PDF export options export but does not support in its import options. Am I missing a plugin/update that can do this?

Also, can someone point me to a list of graphic images that Indesign can import (preferably with detailed information that he may have subsets that are not supported)?

    I can only find " " http://help.Adobe.com/en_US/InDesign/CS/using/WSa285fff53dea4f8617383751001ea8cb3f-6bdea.h tml ".

    Thank you

Beyond the information provided by Steve Werner...

It is true that Photoshop cannot save an image on two levels (i.e. single bit monochrome) TIFF CCITT Group 4 compresses (or group 3-compresses).

However, Acrobat Pro can save PDF as CCITT Group 4 compressed TIFF Group 3

And I confirm that InDesign cannot place a CCITT Group 4 or group-3 compressed TIFF image.

Ironically, Photoshop can open TIFF CCITT Group 4 compressed files but when simply save even saves TIFF compressed into ZIP files.

So, the quickest way for the placement of your CCITT Group 4 TIFF files compressed in InDesign is to simply open and resave the TIFF files in Photoshop.

Yes, a hack villain, but it allows you to work around this limitation.

  • InDesign CS5 hangs on launch version 10.8.3

    Hey everybody,

I had trouble with InDesign (CS5) two years ago on my macbook pro. I have reinstalled twice which slightly improves its operation, but still it would crash when I tried to add pages or view my images placed in a high quality display. I thought that my problem was the lack of RAM (4 GB), I had on my laptop because Photoshop and Illustrator would be would break also occasionally with large files.

But... I have just recently to plug an iMac with 16 GB of RAM, and any transfer to my laptop using the migration wizard. InDesign crashes now without opening it at all. Photoshop and Illustrator work very well.

I tried inDesign as a guest user and it's the same problem.

I have read forums and have tried to locate the preferences folders to move, but they are not here:

    Drive hard/users / < USER > / Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign / < Version # > / < language > /.

    Disk hard/users / < USER > / Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign / < Version # > / < language > /

I have also considered uninstalling and reinstalling on my iMac, but how do I do this without a hard drive?

Please let me know if there is more information I can give you that will help you will help me, I need inDesign for my major work for United and darn fear!

Will I need a crash report? How can I do this?

  • plugin InDesign cs5.5 problem

I have indesign cs3 with xmpie, is a utility that makes the variable data. I am now on cs5.5 and whenever I open a document that I worked on in indesign cs3, I get a missing plugin error and turns to file in a single document reading with [converted] at the end of the file name. It's really annoying whenever I try to re - register the file.  Is there a way to get rid of it.

    Hi Jesse,.

Thanks for this question, I had the same problem with XMPie a few years ago. Here's the work around:

    1. open the file in InDesign CS5.5 (or your latest version of InDesign)

2 export the file as an IDML

    3. open the IDML and save on your existing InDesign file.

    I hope this helps.

  • InDesign CS5 Debug: Where can I get trace files?

    Hello people,

I know that the trace files are created in the QA folder that is located under the Applications folder. I want to find all orders processed and I use following steps

    • Adobe InDesign CS5 Debug application started
    • Option enabled, 'SpyOnCommand' and 'SpyDebugLog', which is available under Test-->--> Preferences Spy Spy...
    • Checked the option-> TRACE-> Diagnostics Test.
    • Test selected-> Diagnostics-> command-> track orders-> in the

After doing all the steps above, I expect this trace log will be saved under Logs/QA/InDesign folder. I found there is only three files like "QueryGetUIObjectsInCmdCheck.txt", "WaxWorld.txt" and "PluginLoadLog.txt".

I have seen no information in one of these files. Please let me know if anyone knows how to generate tracking logs?

    Kind regards

In the plugin SDK for Mac, there is a demand of DebugWindow for: /devtools/bin/DebugWindow

DebugWindow execution and open InDesign, you should see the output.

  • inDesign CS5 and CS6 inCopy workflow problem

I looked further discussions and did not answer the question to our problem.

We are a small publishing company and we have the license for about 7 inDesign CS5 best we bought a year ago.  We have contracts with external publishers to change content for us using inCopy.  Last year, there is no problem.  But any new Editor under contract we sign today, which in turn buys inCopy, we have problems with our talk with one of the other files.  All new editors under contract are able to purchase inCopy CS6.  This leaves us with the problem of having to inDesign CS5 on about 7 or so of our used machines and 6-8 CS 5.5 InCopy on outside contracted publishers and another 3-4 editors under contracts with inCopy CS6.  When publishers with inCopy CS6 try to open our InDesign CS5 files, either they will not open at all, or they will open, the editor working on the project for a while, their program crashes and they aren't able to recover (reopening) the files again.  Which translates into lost hours at work.

Has anyone encountered this problem?  Is there a work around or a quick fix.  We hate having to upgrade to CS6 for all our copies in InDesign home and then ask our external publishers have inCopy cs5.5 upgrade to CS6.

If this is the case, when CS7 comes out and we are hiring more outside editors, we must continually go through the process of upgrading again?  It is too expensive to use and our existing contract publishers.

All thoughts are a help would be appreciated.

It is one of the error messages from a Publisher under external contract using inCopy CS6.  The file crashed after several hours of work, when the Publisher went to reopen the case, they have received this error.  Which seems to be a generic error code that does not tell us anything.

    Hello Rufus,

Unfortunately the different versions of InDesign and InCopy work well with each other. More recent versions of the program should be able to open to older files, but they can't save backward. I don't know what the cause of errors with newer versions of InCopy however.

You are able to open the InCopy CS6 files on your computers?

    Hello

After you import a logo eps in Indesign CS5 displays an overview very well when overprint preview is disabled, she overprint which view is turned on only the logo icon appears, the police disappears.

The police was sketched - the logo is white Uni and that appears on a black background Uni. When you export the file to PDF police also disappears. I tried saving the file as a file with the same result.

    Any ideas?

First of all, you need to use files .ai Illustrator native with lit PDF compatibility (it appears in the options dialog after recording).

Your logo has been converted to work initially in black with the activated overprint Fill attribute. Overprint shows the output device, don't no know the color below the logo. When printing black, it makes sense. When printing white, this actually makes the logo disappear, since the only way to print white is by knocking out.

Open the logo in Illustrator and select all the evanescent white work (probably a Select any will do). Open the attributes Panel and turn off overprint fill. Save as an Illustrator file and that place.

  • InDesign CS5 file does not open

At my work, we work on the formatting of a book in InDesign. We use the same basic model for each file. I created a document preliminary pages with a table of contents (TOC), list of figures (LOF), list of tables (LOT), acronyms and glossary using this basic model. Everything worked fine; I was able to generate the TOC, LOF and MANY and could work with the file without problem. Then I saved and closed the file. Later that day, I was unable to open the file.

The message I get includes the statement, "you might not have permissions or the file can be opened already."

No one else was open, and there is no file locking. The other person using InDesign also cannot open it. I made a copy of the file and saved in another location and still couldn't open it.

The files are all on our network. We use InDesign CS5 and Windows7 (64-bit). The only difference between this file and the others are the changes that I made to certain styles of paragraph OCD so two paragraphs could be displayed side-by-side in the table of contents (e.g., Chapter 1 Introduction on a single line, where Chapter1 comes a paragraph and Introduction by another with no leading on the style of a paragraph).

Can anyone suggest a solution for this? It's quite urgent because the client must book at the end of next week.

Thank you very much for your help.
