InDesign does not open when the network drive is not available.

Hello world

I have a laptop (MacBook Pro OSX10.9.5), which shares a network drive in my office. The reader is with another computer. When I take the laptop out of the network of the company (for a meeting or a house), InDesign will not open, it gives me the following error (see image). I tried to replace the default values and SavedData files and InDesign also re-install from scratch. I still get the same error. No idea what is happening or how to fix it? Thank you in advance.

Hello!

I realized that it was, finally. After playing, I noticed that my InDesign fonts folder, had 'alias' links to fonts residing on this shared drive. As soon as I deleted all those who where alias, the error disappeared. I hope this helps someone in the future.

  • RoboHelp 8 runs slow when you use the network drive...

I have several users at my company who improved RoboHelp X 5 RoboHelp 8. They report that when they are working on projects that are located on a network drive, RohoHelp running very slowly (which never seemed to happen before with X 5). I read on several forums that RoboHelp must be used with projects that are on the local drive, but I can't find any formal recommendation to Adobe about it, or have no explanation as to why the network drive doesn't work well, I found. At Adobe all officially commented on it, and no one knows why the performance of the network drive is bad? Is there anything that can be done to allow my users to keep using their network without the poor performance? Thanks in advance for any help you people can provide, I'm stumped.

    Hello and welcome, Robo_Newbie

You're about to become real Robo_Oldie fast

Your projects RoboHelp MUST live on a local drive. You can archive them on a network, but NEVER actually open and change while they are on the network.

The two reasons most people incorrectly assume that they should be on the network is because you want to share with other authors and you want to back up in case your hard drive goes down. These are valid reasons, but it does not work because the. DPC (a cache of the Access database file) usually becomes corrupt - not to mention latency LAN-related performance problems.

Until most of us do is either use the free RoboSource Control that comes with RoboHelp or establishing a manual routine to copy your current job to a LAN for more safety and establish a routine with the other authors who will be working on what, when.

Sorry to break the bad news. That is the reality.

  • InDesign does not open

    Hello

I just run the update to 2015.3 CC Illustrator and Photoshop CC 2015.5. There is no update currently available for Indesign and according to my CC desktop application, Indesign is up-to-date. I use an iMac. InDesign does not open because I ran the update for Illustrator and Photoshop. I don't see how they are related, but this is how it happened. I could open Indesign very well yesterday, but since the update when I select the Indesign icon in my doc, he bounced back to start the update and then nothing. When I opened the window "force quit", it says in red "Indesign is not responding. No idea what to do to solve this problem. Should I uninstall and reinstall Indesign through the creative cloud?

    I'd appreciate any help offered.

  • Just upgraded to Windows 10, now Indesign does not open

As the title suggests, just upgraded to Windows 10, now indesign does not open. It is interesting to other applications CC open, but no indesign. When I try to open from the finder, I get an error indicating that the file ddl virtual studio c ++ 110.dans is missing. I tried all the normal things to make it unmissing, but they do not seem to work.

If I try to open indesign CC, nothing happens. No error, nothing, I'm just pressing an empty button.

    Thank you.

Hello, I had actually already tried using the tool unistaller. All uninstalled, then reinstalled, which did NOT work.

I was upgrade to Windows 8.1 for windows 10.

I managed to get InDesign to work as follows:

    1. Everything uninstalled uninstaller of windows (and not via CC).
    2. At running the Adobe uninstaller tool (it has not found anything however).
    3. After I installed CC, I noticed that CC has reinstalled the package to redistribute C++ 2008 I've heard causes problems.
    4. I uninstalled then manually C++ 2008 package, but left 2012 and 2015.
    5. Then I installed InDesign. When I installed indesign it installed a few other packages C++, but... Responsible inDesign! Still a bug or 3 but it works at least.

    It worked for me.

could someone who has the slightest idea of what is happening maybe please notify.

    see you soon

    Kevin

    Hey Kevin,

You can uninstall InDesign and you can check non installed in the Applications folder if a file for Adobe InDesign CC still exists. If so delete this folder manually and remove the trash.

Install CC InDesign again. Do it from your administrator account.

    Thanks and greetings

  • Can't deleted iPhoto Library the network drive backup

I made a backup of my library iPhoto on a network drive. Since then, I realized Time Machine made a better job of backing up my iPhoto library. So I planned to remove the library for free space.

When I try, I get this message:

"The operation cannot be performed because you have not granted access to some of the elements."

If I can spend in the library and digging around, I find there are hundreds, maybe thousands of articles where I don't have permission. Y at - it a way to replace that can simply remove the library?

Which does not imply iPhoto somehow - maybe you can get help from the forum for your operating system, but most likely, you need support from the supplier of the network drive - this is the question is

I would ask that your post moved to the captain El forum and see if some one can help

  • To remove the error message about the network drive

I have W7 Home and recently restructured.   I had this problem of reformatting finally a long time ago and it is solved but do not remember how.  Whenever I boot, I get the message "connection impossible network drives.  When I click it, I see the Epson printer has a red X on it and says Epson memory card.  The printer has always shown in my computer, but it works very well.  All I need is to get rid of the error message.  I tried to go into the center of the Action and unclicking on error messages of network firewall but that did not help. I'll print on any solution this time for the next restructuring!  Thanks for any advice.

Epson support says that since the printer connecting wireless much later that opens Windows, Windows is not see when it starts.  They say that it is a Windows problem, not them.

To get rid of the error message, I disconnect a right-click on my computer and clicked on the network drive.  I find the error message disappeared and the printer works fine.  I don't know if there's a problem with that.

  • Unable to access Remote Desktop on my computer at home, when the network is set to Public.

I have a computer set up at home as a hobby-Web server, designated 'Server', Windows 7 Professional (Swedish language version). The server has installed Norton Internet Security. Standard port in the firewall is open to allow remote desktop connections.

I can't connect to the server by using remote desktop, unless...

When I open the network - and center of the share on the server, under view your active networks, my internet connection ('designated network 8' by Windows) has the value 'Public network '.

I can not connect to the server.

If I change "Network of 8" to "Home network" or "Work" - so I can connect to the server by using remote desktop.

But if I put the adapter network/public IP of my server to "Home network", is not my compromised security more than it already is when I encouraged Remote Desktop? I don't want to let my Internet connection to the home network, because the point of having different settings is because I want to have my internal network to a lower level of security for access to the network drive.

  • 2014.0 CC InDesign does not recognize plugins built with CC 2014.0 SDK on Mac

    Hi all

I build plugins for InDesign CC 2015.4 using CC 2015.4 SDK and they worked very well on Mac. I used Xcode version 7.3.1 (7 1014) and I have OSX 10.8 SDK copied from an earlier version of Xcode and displayed it in the list of Xcode 7.3.1 Base SDK. But when I compile the same plugins with the same version of Xcode, but with CC 2014.0 SDK InDesign CC 2014.0 then displays this alert at startup:

'Adobe InDesign does not recognize MyPlugin.InDesignPlugin' as a plug-in. Please reinstall the MyPlugin.InDesignPlugin"plugin and restart InDesign. »

The bad news is that the same message that I get even though I build plugins like BasicDialog or BasicPanel SDK sample. Don't know if this is related to the minor changes that I did in the projects in the sample and make to compile.

When I open any project SDK sample and try to build it I get error:

"ld: file not found: @executable_path/InDesignModel.framework/Versions/A/InDesignModel for x86_64 architecture.

    to resolve this issue, I added 'InDesignModel.framework' of ' < SDK-folder > / build/mac/release_cocoa64/packagefolder/contents/macos "to"Binary link with libraries"list

After that, I get another error:

    "Undefined symbols for x86_64 architecture:

    "_objc_readClassPair", referenced from:

    __ARCLite__load() in libarclite_macosx.a (arclike.o).

to fix this, I changed implicitly "link Objective - C Runtime option supported" the 'yes' to 'No' as suggested here:

The undefined symbols: "_objc_readClassPair" when o... | Apple Developer Forums

I changed this option in my plugins CC2015.4 too and CC2015.4 InDesign loaded this plugins very well.

After these changes plugin built successfully, but when I copy this plugin in the folder "/ Applications / Adobe InDesign CC 2014/Plug-Ins/SDK ' then InDesign displays alerts above.

Anyone has idea what Miss me? Thank you very much!

    Hi vadim Pachaev,.

According to the SDK, you will need to use Xcode 5.0.1.

  • How to get permission to write to the network drive access?

I am considering a Director to play my music (mp3) stored on a shared network (NT) drive library. The Director can access music stored on the network drive and not on a PC? Ah, so you're saying the multimedia files are on the USB drive connected to your WRT610N? If so, then you don't need a computer or power from the router itself already has a built-in Media Server (Twonky Media Server), which can share the multimedia files on the USB drive to your network.

    1. What is the exact error message that you receive?

  • 64-bit Windows 7 mouse freezes / stuttering several times per minute, when the network activity is high

    Hi all
I recently bought a new computer Packard Bell with a Windows 7 OEM who have a problem with the mouse and keyboard. I've been in contact with the manufacturer, but they are also confused that I have on this issue. After looking in many discussions about the problems of the mouse in windows 7, I found that there are many who have this problem but there is no consistency in the HW configuration, i.e. it seems more a problem with the OS.
I really like the machine and Windows 7, but I have a nagging issue with frequent 1-2 second freeze/stuttering of the mouse during the 'high' network activity (e.g. streaming a YouTube video). During my research, I met at least 4 people who who call network activity affect the behavior of the mouse.
Sometimes the keyboard or the mouse becomes completely insensitive and the system must be restarted. However, on these occasions, the rest of the system is not affected - for example Skype and other programs to continue to operate without glitch or lag.
To try to solve this problem, I did the following (with no effect on the problem):
-Updated all the drivers to the latest.
-J' tried different version of the mouse drivers (most recent running now).
-Tried different versions of the network driver (latest running now).
-Change keyboard and mouse to the PS2 came with the computer.
-Set the system to 'high performance '.
    -Changed for USB mouse
-J' tried various Bios settings 'mode of power/suspend' (proposed in solution in another thread)
One thing that has had a strange effect on the problem was:
-Seen the PS2 and USB mouse is touching one when the other freezes / stuttering will immediately resolve stuttering gel.
    I have studied/noted:
-There has never been a 'error box"popping up in Windows when this happens.
-In the event viewer I see warnings from "i8042prt" regarding (remember, thie is translated from Swedish :) 'The device sent an incorrect response, once the keyboard has been reset' (this is what I found, if you need more information please ask but provide what to look for and where)
My system has the following specifications:
Operating system: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
    Versions: 6.1.7600 build 7600
    Manufacturer: Packard Bell
    Computer model: ipower G3720
    Computer type: PC x 64
Processor: Intel Core i7 CPU 860 to 2.80 GHz, Mhz, 4 core, 8 logical processors 2801

    Version SMBIOS 2.6
HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) Version = "6.1.7600.16385".
GB of physical memory (RAM) 6.00

    Hi Chris,

I might have a happy ending to this topic :)
I returned my old piece of system got another, it worked fine at first, but then the mouse began to stutter once again.

The system had only a few programs installed so I started to uninstall it to see if it changed anything.
    A program - Skype.

I never suspected that my friends use Windows 7 and Skype without any problem, although they could not use quadcore and 64-bit version.

My system is without stutters and glitches for a week, so I'm pretty sure that was the problem.
That Skype is a very wide spread of IM, it could apply to other institutions.

    Thanks for your help!
