  I had changed my password, and then tried to add to my index of password.  Somehow, I have changed my password. Now, the only thing I can access is the password in the page. I would willingly do a hard reset but can't seem to my settings. As I said, the only thing that I can arrive at is the sign-in password.   I have three user accounts on my Windows XP.  I have not used the PC for about 12 months I bought a laptop with Vista.  Now when I go to log in my it requires a password to the user.  I forgot my password & can not see an icon give me an indication of password. The same goes for the other user account & the third account is a guest account that is accessible.  I have docs & itunes on users whose passwords are asked for.   It comes to my laptop. I'm the only one using it.

  A couple of years, I've had problems with one of the Service Packs. I had a very good help from Microsoft. One of the people helping me explained how to connect using the Admin account to display system information. I think she used the DOS prompt to change a setting. Then the Welcome screen showed the Admin account. But, if I can't log on my computer to do this, I can't do the account Admin appear on the Welcome screen. Is there another way to display the administrator account on the home screen?

  To remove your indication of password:

  1. click the button start (bottom left of the screen).

  2. click on the image of the user (in the top right menu that opens).

  3. click on 'change your password '.

  4. type your current password in all of the boxes except the last. The last box, 'Index of password' must beleft empty. Click on "Change password" at the bottom right.

  You should now have no index of password in the user login screen.
