Info and user account disappeared

I've implemented my new wireless router Linksys and in the middle of the installation, my 8 month old son turned the computer off on me. I have it turned on and completed the installation, but when my wife got home, she discovered that his user profile had completely disappeared. all of its subfolders and emails and its profile was gone, it was as if she was never there. I tried to restart but it went straight to my profile and when I try to change user is not another.

Is it possible to get it all back?
Thanks for any help
I use Vista

You could try a system restore:

Restore point:

http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-system-restore/

Do Safe Mode system restore, if it is impossible to do in Normal Mode.

Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

See you soon.

  • My admin user account disappeared when I added a new user and now I don't know how to access or modify my user accounts.

I have three accounts of users set up and we had to be the administrator account, but it changed to a standard user account and now I'm sunk.  I had changed the original admin user account to a standard user account, and then made a new admin user account.  I did this so I could spy on girl teenager without his knowledge so that I can be sure it is safe online with parental controls.  I used the new admin user account to set up parental controls.  The next morning, when I saw the new user account, he had transformed into a standard account and now I have no admin user account.  A thing pops up to tell me to put a password for admin (have no idea what it is that I've made a new) but in any case there is no place you can type into it if I had to guess even.  Now, I totally don't know what made my daughter and can not change anything with parental control.

    Pleasssssse help!

    Hello swuser, welcome.

What it sounds like, is that Windows creates a new user with admin access account and then migrate parts of your data on. This is probably due to corruption on the part of your "old" user account

My suggestion, rather that to re - install all your programs, would be to simply make a copy of your desktop shortcuts and drag them into the START > all programs >... destinations.

If you need find the shortcuts for some programs, we can tell you where programs actually exist in Windows. Let us know exactly what it is you are missing and we can see if we can help you.

Regarding Microsoft Office, you can find the actual programs by visiting here:

    1. click on START
    2. click on 'my computer '.
    3. double-click on "disk Local (c)"
    4. double click on "Program Files".
5 double click on "Microsoft Office".
    6 double-click on "Office12".
    7. find "WinWord12.exe", right click and go to send to > desktop (create shortcut)
    8. find "Excel.exe", right click and go to send to > desktop (create shortcut)
9 find "PowerPnt.exe", right click and go to send to > desktop (create shortcut)
    10. find "Outlook.exe", right click and go to send to > desktop (create shortcut)
11 go ahead and find the rest of the Office applications in this folder. Follow the same instructions as above. Most of the Office applications have some identifiable names (such as Microsoft Access = Access.exe)

  • NETFramework will not work research restoration help and user account blank screens

When I try to access the microsoft fix option it says need net framework, but it is installed to restore the white screen go to the empty user account go to help the screen white screen

Do not rely on any Microsoft Fix option never work.  They might work, but I not rely on it, count on it or expect to work.  You'll usually just fix things yourself by hand (as this problem of yours now).

Your screen just says 'User accounts' user accounts in the title bar and have just the rear buttons, forward and home?

If your system restore page display only the title bar 'System Restore', or your accounts settings page of users shows that the 'User accounts' title bar and the screen where information needs to be is an empty white box...

System Restore is a frequent target of attacks by malicious software.  If SR was working before and is now afflicted, run some scans and then fix any problems.

Remember that the system restore is not a time machine.

Your system is currently or has been reached by malicious software.

You can now fix the symptom and find malware later, or you can now search for malware and fix the remains later (but you need to do both).

I recommend just fixing the symptom of the empty page and forget to do the scans.  The symptom of the problem of fixing and fixing the problem are two different things.

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:

    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

The scans using own it may also be necessary to re-register some dll (or you can do this part first, but you still have to do the scans).

    To solve the immediate problem:

Looks like your file jscript.dll became somehow not registered so you can re-record it.

There are probably a few other things that do not work you know yet, so fix them all at once.

Re-registration of these DLLs is correct, even if they do not need renewal.  You can also re-register the dll before the scans that can solve the problem, but the scans are always recommended.

Click Start, run, and in the box enter orders following one at a time.  Click the OK button to execute each command one at a time.

    regsvr32 jscript.dll
    regsvr32 vbscript .dll
    regsvr32 /i mshtml.dll (it's a look of slash)

The last order for mshtml load the DLL but can also contain a harmless warning depending on your environment.

Now check your timetable for restoration of the system and/or the user account settings page.

  • How reinstall individual programs and users accounts after recovery of Windows 7?

    Hello

I have Windows 7 Home Premium. I have problems, have tried all the options and want to do a recovery system of the C: drive as a last resort before taking the computer home.

I used the Backup and Restore to back up my C: drive as a whole (including the image of the system in case where something goes wrong) on an external drive, but I've never used, backup and restore. I'm not sure if she actually re - installed programs or just moves them. I don't have a disk for my suite Office 2007 so I can't reinstall it it will be lost (unless I used the image of the system, of course).

Can you tell me if yes or no backup and restore will actually reinstall Office, and if so, how do I do?

Also, I have 2 user accounts on the computer. Can back up and restore reinstall all the accounts of individual users?

    Thank you for your time.

The new computer will come with Windows (for example, Win10) preinstalled?

UAC should not contest an Excel file, if the system is working properly.  I have my UAC set to top & I use Excel files without any problem.

You will probably get better help in MS Office Excel forum but do these controls first:

1 Excel open other files correctly?

    2. If you open Excel, and then use to open the file, it opens correctly?

3 don't Excel file containing the macros auto_open affecting the system that is running this macro the thing that is called into question?  [this idea may be rejected if check 2 books - and I doubt that it in any case, you have mentioned]

4 check the properties of this shortcut.  Right-click on it, select Properties, click the Advanced button.  You have the checkbox for run as administrator?  If so just, clear the check box, or just create a new shortcut to the file in Excel.

I guess that check 4 will solve your problem, but if not, see if the users Office Forum can help you further.

  • Password lockout policy and user account in OAM

    Hi people,

I am new to OAM and rather ridiculous question: I created the password strategy where I set the number of allowed login attempts, custom redirect URL Account Lockout, etc.. Now, how I attach to the authentication / authorization rules within my policy area which I use to protect a certain resource?

    Thank you
    Roman

    Hi Roman,

You should have a single validate_password plugin, with the syntax:

validate_password obCredentialPassword = "password", obReadPasswdMode = "LDAP", obWritePasswdMode is "LDAP".

Password policy is used whenever the validate_password plugin is used with the last two parameters - restore if all goes well in the foregoing is do work (and please check if it appears as such in step).

    Kind regards

  • User account problems

Recently, I deleted my Macbook Pro and started from scratch.  I also upgraded to El Capitan.  I deleted the guest account and add a new user to separate my programs/files personal and professional; However, the splash screen shows the original user and a guest again.  The new added user can not be seen on the start screen.  I can't get into the new user account by logging out of original user account.  The screen then shows the users and no account guest.  Everything about the account still exists and works, but it's boring.  When I go into the preferences and user accounts, it shows the guest offshore account and all users.  Any suggestions?

If you have enabled FileVault, only users who have been authorized to unlock the boot volume will appear in the seed authentication dialog box. Once the system has booted, all users will appear in the connection dialog box.

To allow users more once the volume has been encrypted, please select the FileVault tab in security & privacy preferences window. Click on the padlock icon in the lower left corner and authenticate to unlock the settings, if necessary. Click on allow users...

You must activate the users whom trust you implicitly all data on the system, not only their own data.

  • Delteing user account problems

I am trying to remove a user account from my main administrative account and will not delete. After clicking on the button Delete, it becomes inadmissible and I must continue to send error reports. Have I been hacked and not able to do anything whatsoever as an administrator? I made a new user account and it deleted to see if I could, but still I can't delete the user account I want to delete. I'm not trying to delete my user account, another account via Control Panel and user accounts.

I don't know exactly what your problem is but here are some things that you might try...

    (1) this could be caused by a problem of file system corruption.  Try to run a "chkdsk" on your hard drive, the two verification options.  It is a step of good maintenance that must be done when even occasionally.  WARNING: on a system drive, it will be performed at the next startup, runs before Windows fully boots, cannot be interrupted and can take a few hours to complete.  (Do it when you won't need computer for awhile)

"How to perform disk error in Windows XP check"

    (2) if it does not help, try to delete the user profile before you delete the user:
Right click on "My Computer"-> properties-> advanced (tab)-> click on 'Settings' in the section "user profile".
When it comes to the top (may take some time), select the user profile you want to remove, and then click the button 'delete '.  (You can check the 'Size' column because much more disk space will need to be deleted and could take a while).  After that, try to remove the user from the control panel.

    (3) sometimes, I find that the use of the work of the prompt command line better than doing it using the GUI...
Open a command prompt window: (start-> Run-> "cmd")
Enter the following command in the command prompt window:
    NET user smith/delete
Where, of course, you replace 'smith' with the user you want to remove.

    (4) you can also try a "System Restore" at an earlier date, but if the problem is in the register, and has been around for a while, this might not be a great help.  After restoring, try to delete the new user.

  • How to bypass the user accounts in Windows XP

This I can work around the and user accounts that I am the only user on my laptop having one or more accounts of users really slows down the system upward.

I had cleared off the PC by reinstalling and seems not to ask for a password that I only put in place a single user, but now he does and seems to run two of everything.

    Hi KateMcNeill,

As you said that 'two performance everything', I want to clarify if you are referring to two user accounts?

If so, log on the user with administrator rights and remove the other user accountaccount.

    Additional reference on:
  • user accounts suddenly denied access to games standard

OS is Vista Home Premium. I created two centuries ago user accounts. I am the administrator and have no problem. My husband is defined in Standard and until Friday 4th has been able to play an installed game he plays online. Suddenly, he is unable to play because he gets the message:
"Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. May not permissions to access you the item.
Also, the icon of the shortcut to the game and read icon via start it > programs method changed to the type of icon where see you installed updates to windows. a rectangle with a small green square. Please note that nothing seen via my user account.
If you set my husband to user account to be an administrator, or if you try to run the game "as an administrator", you still get the same message as above.
If you view the permissions for the game that he has "full control". View permissions for the game through my user account says 'Special permissions' and I can easily play the game.
I would like to know what has happened to cause this and also how to fix it.
    Thank you very much

Thanks a lot for your suggestions.
In response, I created a new standard user account and had the same problem on all standard user accounts. Then removed them.

The problem occurred after a recent update of Windows, that somehow changed the permissions on some downloaded files. The UAC was responsible in some way. I guess I could undo each in turn to find out who we caused the problem, but decided to do so only if no other method could be found.

You can easily see which applications have been affected because the Apps icon has been changed into an icon of the window - a rectangle with a small green square in it.

In my case, my husband took ownership of a game and a control total seen on the Admin account, but it was ignored. If you are looking for the game in the list of the found program via the Start button and right click on the game and select Properties... this method does not work... or can run you as admin.

However, I decided to try the following and have had a result.

    • I opened his account (note that whenever you are prompted to enter the Admin password to continue).
    • I clicked on the "Start" button and find the game in question under the "Programs" list
    • I then click right on this game and selected for "open file location".
    • Then, I selected the Application file (exe), right click and select "Properties".
    • Then choose the security"" tab.
    • My Admin user was in the list, but my husband's name was not if I chose to 'Edit' then 'Add' his name and user account.
    • Applied and could I stand it and the icon for the game immediately changed to show the correct and original icon with a windows shield attached.
    • I then click on the game again and selected to create a shortcut that I placed on the desktop.

The game now runs from his account.
    Solved :)
