    How can I recover the old notes I had?

    As well, I'm bored kilometer in Exchange for miles, the Celsius to Fahrenheit etc, etc, etc.

    I need help!

    Yes, El Capitan is nice, but we could get before opinion delete just good useful applications...

    HI there MagicM.

    So you're looking for the dashboard or the Launchpad for quick access of the Widgets or applications. If you're talking about the scoreboard which was a separate space in previous versions of Mac OS X, you may need to activate in your system preferences. The keyboard shortcut for it's F12 when activated:

    OS X El Capitan: Get info Express with dashboard

    If you're talking about the dashboard, check out the info in the following article:

    OS X El Capitan: use Launchpad display and open applications

    Dashboard does not have a shortcut by default, but you can certainly be set in system preferences > keyboard > shortcuts > Launchpad & Dock > show Launchpad. I have done this and characterized by the F4 key and it worked perfectly.

    OS X El Capitan: use global keyboard shortcuts

    1. Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, click keyboard, and then click shortcut.

    2. Select the action in the list you want to change.

    3. Double-click the current shortcut, and then press the new key combination to use.

      You cannot use each type of key (for example, a letter) more than once in a combination of keys.

    4. Quit and then restart all the apps that you use for the new keyboard shortcut to take effect.

    If you assign a keyboard shortcut that already exists for another command or another application, your new shortcut won't work. Find the menu command that he uses, and then reassign the keyboard shortcut for this element.

    To disable a shortcut, uncheck the box next to its description in the list.

    If you want to return their original combinations of all the shortcuts, click default settings.

    Thank you for using communities of Apple Support, let us know how it goes!

  • Inspiron n4010 virtual wireless adapter shows 'unplugged', does not connect

    I've scoured the web looking for a solution to this problem, found a similar question posted here, but no solution... en.Community.Dell.com/.../20263886

    My friend brought me his Inspiron n4010 notebook help saying until a few months ago, he used to connect to the wifi with no problems. All of a sudden, it wouldn't show all wireless networks available no matter where she went - its wireless home network, work network and neighborhood of free wifi hotspots - none would connect. Similarly, I have tried with my home wireless network and my network wireless office without result. Connect LAN2 (for Boradcom virtual Wireless Adapter) this always as 'unplugged network Cable.

    6. I checked the Windows Mobility Center. Wireless 'tile' was where it should have, according to other messages I saw who were on this subject. Strangely, when I clicked on the button to launch under Dell - Radio control options, checkboxes Wi - Fi and Mobile Broadband have been unchecked and greyed out.

    7. I have reset the winsock catalog and restarted the computer via the elevated command prompt (Administrator)
    NET winsock reset catalog
    No change in status wireless.

    8. I disabled the Norton firewall and Windows and anti-virus to see if wireless was somehow blocked by them. No change in status wireless.

    9. I checked the Windows power plan settings to confirm that network cards did not have their power reduced. I put the adapter wireless for maximum while on battery and current performance alternative.

    10. I checked the Windows Event Viewer logs > Windows Logs > system:

    I've seen repeated Scriptures error spread among the many dates of "BTHUSB (Blue Tooth adapter failed in an indeterminate way, will not be used.". The driver has been unloaded. "I saw no reference to what about wireless however.

    11. I tried to run Windows Update manually to see what, if any, driver updates it can find (using a network cable connection) and got the error 'cannot be updated because the Windows Update service is not started. I confirmed that he was released. I also manually stopped and restarted the service but continued to get the same error message. I kept the Windows Firewall and Norton Firewall (and antivirus) disabled in case they were interfereing with Windows Update, but no luck.

    12. I ran bad/ad/spyware scans with a portable version of Spybot and also a free version of SuperAntiSpyware, analyze the results showed several adware results, that have been deleted.

    13. I tried to manually configure the IP address, subnet mask and entered default gateway for IPv4 to the wireless adapter, which had been put on "obtain automatically", as it should. I also put the server DNS preferred my ISP (Comcast), then tried Google 8.8.8.8. This should have worked but the connection still showed as "cable disconnected" (why is a mistake to launch a "cable disconnected" wireless connection?)

    14. just for fun, I ran the update from the Intel driver from their site (via wired), who identified the available for graphics and Chipset updates - I've updated both, but it did not help (no surprise).

    15. I started Windows in Safe Mode with network - just as in normal mode, he showed the connection wireless as "cable disconnected".

    I am open to any suggestions at this point. The laptop is out of warranty so prefer to avoid paid support, if in any way possible.

    If you can get a hardware ID by activating / deactivating it on or turned off, it suggests itself wireless card is bad... Diagnostic tests could confirm this:

    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/F12-Preboot-Diagnostics/

    You can look in the service manual to try and reinsert the card or replace it. His work a bit longer than necessary:

    http://FTP.Dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_inspiron_laptop/Inspiron-14r_service%20manual_en-us.PDF

    An easier solution if you are uncomfortable with the material of the Assembly would be to buy a USB wireless adapter.

  • How can I change alarm

    Hello

    I would try the following, please provide your inputs!

    I am using PowerCLI to change the Type of trigger for alarm 'Datastore Disk use %' warning and alert of 75/85 for a new watermark.

    Is this possible? Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you very much!

    alarm.jpg

    With the current construction of PowerCLI, you cannot change triggers yet, but you can use the API.

    Something like that

    $alarmName = "Datastore disk usage"$newYellow = 80$newRed = 85$alarm = Get-AlarmDefinition -Name $alarmName

    $spec = New-Object VMware.Vim.AlarmSpec$spec.Enabled = $alarm.ExtensionData.Info.Enabled$spec.Description = $alarm.ExtensionData.Info.Description$spec.Name = $alarm.ExtensionData.Info.Name$spec.Expression = $alarm.ExtensionData.Info.Expression$spec.Expression.Expression[0].Yellow = $newYellow * 100$spec.Expression.Expression[0].Red = $newRed * 100

    $alarm.ExtensionData.ReconfigureAlarm($spec)

  • The change is triggered in VCenter via PowerCLI

    Good afternoon everyone, I am trying to automate the change of an alarm with VCenter 5 trigger.  Currently when users use 75% or more the storage on the local hard disk, I get an alarm for "Datastore Disk use.  I want to change the warning from 75% to 85% and the alert from 85% to 90%.  I have been using VSphere PowerCLI for many tasks for adding and configuring the hosts and their storage, networks, dns, etc...  So, I understand the basics.  I can't understand how to do something else then get the name of the alarm.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello, ThatMattGuy-

    You can change an element of the alarm using the API.  You should be able to use the following to update the caveat - and the percentages of trigger alert at 85% and 90% respectively by using:

    ## get the .NET View object for the Alarm of the given name$viewAlarmToUpdate = Get-View -Id (Get-AlarmDefinition -Name "Datastore usage on disk").Id

    ## copy the existing AlarmInfo item from the current alarm definition$specNewAlarmInfo = $viewAlarmToUpdate.Info

    ## update the two desired properties on the MetricAlarmExpression (http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-50/index.jsp?topic=/com.vmware.wssdk.apiref.doc_50/vim.alarm.MetricAlarmExpression.html)$specNewAlarmInfo.Expression.Expression[0].yellow = 8500$specNewAlarmInfo.Expression.Expression[0].red = 9000

    ## reconfigure the alarm with the new threshold values$viewAlarmToUpdate.ReconfigureAlarm($specNewAlarmInfo)

    It takes AlarmInfo to the definition of existing alarm, updates the two values you mentioned and the uses of the method ReconfigureAlarm() of the alarm.

    And, then to display the new values, you check the definition of alarm triggers tab in vCenter, updating the view on the object data and echoing, as:

    ## update the View object$viewAlarmToUpdate.UpdateViewData("Info")## display new values for the alarm$viewAlarmToUpdate.Info.Expression.Expression[0]

    How do I?

  • I can see a value of properties, but I can't get the value

    I'm trying to access the threshold values for alarm

    $alarmDef = get-AlarmDefinition "Datastore use."

    $alarmDef.extensiondata.expression.expression.

    results in:

    Operator: isAbove
    Type: Datastore
    Metric: VMware.Vim.PerfMetricId
    Yellow: 8500
    YellowInterval:
    Red: 9000
    RedInterval:
    DynamicType:
    DynamicProperty:

    So I can see the yellow (8500) and Red (9000) values from above. so, I'm going

    $alarmDef.extensiondata.expression.expression.yellow

    but she returns nothing?

    The correct path is

    $alarmDef.extensiondata.Info.expression.expression

    but I guess that it was just a typo.

    The Expression property points to an array, even if there is only 1 expression, you will have to use an index.

    Like this

    $alarmDef.extensiondata.Info.expression.expression [0]. Yellow

  • can anyone run this script?

    Hi all

    in order to proceed to a reconfiguration of the alarm, I need to get metricId of an alarm by default,

    the problem is, then from a previous test I accidentally deleted some of these alert, so I have to manually recreate but I can't find the metricId that match.

    So, in order to help me, can someone run this script:

    $Name = "unable to connect to the storage.

    $alarmMgr = get-view AlarmManager

    $alarms = $alarmMgr.GetAlarm ($null)

    $alarms | %{

    $alarm = get-view $_

    If ($alarm.Info.Name - eq $Name) {}

    "Write-Host-object' * $alarm.Info.Name:"-nonewline

    Write to $alarm.Info.Name

    Write-Host-object' * $alarm.Info.Expression.Expression [0]. "Metric:"-nonewline

    Write $alarm.Info.Expression.Expression [0]. Metric

    Write-Host-object' * $alarm.Info.Expression.Expression [0]. "Metric.CounterId:"-nonewline

    Write $alarm.Info.Expression.Expression [0]. Metric.CounterId

    Write-Host-object' * $alarm.Info.Expression.Expression [0]. "Metric.Instance:"-nonewline

    Write $alarm.Info.Expression.Expression [0]. Metric.Instance

    }

    }

    First of all, as is the case, a second time with $Name = "host error.

    and one last time with $Name = 'high-availability Cluster error. "

    The result of these commands will help me a lot to get my alarm

    Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me

    Here you go (host)

    and (cluster HA)

  • Alarm configuration scripting

    Hello

    I am a beginner with PowerCLI but with the help of www.lucd.info and the VI Api, I am writing a script to automate the configuration of my alarm for vCenter.

    My script is intended to:

    -remove all measures for all alerts

    -rename some alerts with a prefix to notice the

    -Configure the same alerts with special values that we use in our structure

    the structure of the script is as follows (I wasn't able to join the script to this topic when posting...):

    #listing I target all alerts

    ...

    $alarmMgr = get-view AlarmManager

    $alarms = $alarmMgr.GetAlarm ($null)

    $alarms | %{

    + $alarm = get-view $_ +.

    + $spec = New-Object VMware.Vim.AlarmSpec #Ecrasement of the old shares (SNMP,...) +.

    + $spec. Action = New-Object VMware.Vim.GroupAlarmAction #Copie of the unchanged characteristics +.

    + $spec. Expression = $alarm.Info.Expression +.

    + $spec. Definition of = $alarm.Info.Setting +.

    + $spec. Name = $alarm.Info.Name +.

    + $spec. Enabled = $alarm.Info.Enabled +.

    + $spec. Description = $alarm.Info.Description +.

    +     +

    + If ($tgtAlarmName - contains $alarm.Info.Name) {+

    + $spec. Name = 'RBS'$alarm.Info.Name

    + $alarmTrigger = new-Object VMware.Vim.AlarmTriggeringAction +.

    + $alarmTrigger.Action = new-Object VMware.Vim.SendEmailAction +.

    + $alarmTrigger.Action.toList = $cibleMail +.

    + $alarmTrigger.Action.CcList = $cibleMailCopie +.

    + $alarmTrigger.Action.Subject = $objetMail$spec. Name

    + $alarmTrigger.Action.Body = "alert vCenter \n\n problem with the monitor:"$spec. "" Name'etat\n of the son check \n\n ' +.

    +          +

    + #here certain conditions block the forward different configuration +.

    +          ......+

    + $spec. Action.Action = $alarmTrigger

    +     }+

    + $alarm. ReconfigureAlarm ($spec) +.

    }

    The unit test worked fine, but when I run my script with the values of wright for the final test, I always get an error:

    "Exception calling 'ReconfigureAlarm' with '1' or the arguments: ' not initialized: vim.alarm.alarmAction [] action..." »

    line 203 of my script, and that occur the same number of times, the number of alarms I in vCenter.

    As the declaration of the VMware.Vim.AlarmSpec object is not in a block of air conditioning, I can't understand why I get these error

    As anyone thoughts on that?

    PS: Excuse my bad English, if one of my sentences was not quite clear, is fell free to re - ask

    Likewise, my comments on the script is in french, but if you need I can translate some lines

    Of course, I've PM - ed you my e-mail address.

  • change the setting of the alarm (action)

    Hello:

    I need to change the settings for my existing alarm by script.  I need add SNMP specific alarm action (I know how to filter by name).

    Can anyone help me please with it?

    Thank you

    qwert

    I tested with an alarm which has 1 action (send an email) and the adapted below script seems to work.

    $entity = Get-View (Get-Folder -Name "Datacenters").ID
    $alarmMgr = get-view AlarmManager

    $tgtAlarmName = "Test Alarm"

    $alarms = $alarmMgr.GetAlarm($null)
    $alarms | % {
         $alarm = Get-View $_
         if($alarm.Info.Name -eq $tgtAlarmName){
              $spec = New-Object VMware.Vim.AlarmSpec
              $spec.Expression = $alarm.Info.Expression
              $spec.Setting = $alarm.Info.Setting
              $spec.Name = $alarm.Info.Name
              $spec.Enabled = $alarm.Info.Enabled
              $spec.Description = $alarm.Info.Description

              $spec.Action = New-Object VMware.Vim.GroupAlarmAction
              $action = New-Object VMware.Vim.AlarmTriggeringAction
              $action.Action = New-Object VMware.Vim.SendSNMPAction
              $trans = New-Object VMware.Vim.AlarmTriggeringActionTransitionSpec
              $trans.StartState = "yellow"
              $trans.FinalState = "red"
              $action.TransitionSpecs += $trans

              $spec.Action.Action = $alarm.Info.Action.Action
              $spec.Action.Action += $action

              $alarm.ReconfigureAlarm($spec)
         }
    }

    Note 1: you need not do the LoadWithPartialName more since 1.5 VITK

    Note 2: for the AlarmManager Get-view has a direct pointer. No need to go through ServiceInstance more.

    Note3: first I copy the existing stock of $alarm.Info.Action and then I add the new $action

  • Get alarms and change default values

    My question is two really, I was just read the previous thread http://communities.vmware.com/thread/230786?tstart=0 and I was wondering how to get the list of existing alarms, after have stuck in the SDK for awhile, I thought I would ask experts.

    I see how they relate to the CROWD, but can not put it in the code.

    Also, is there a way to modify each alarm 5 by default that are created to add an action to send a snmp trap?

    Thank you

    Alan Renouf

    http://Virtu-al.NET/

    The first part of your question is easy.

    The following script will display just the name of the alarm, but you can find all the properties in the object of the alarm ($t variable).

    $serviceInstance = get-view ServiceInstance

    $alarmMgr = get-view $serviceInstance.Content.alarmManager

    $alarms = $alarmMgr.GetAlarm($null)
    $alarms | %{
         $t = Get-View -Id $_
         Write-Host $t.Info.Name
    }

    For the 2nd part of the question, yes you can change the preset alarms (as you can from the VIC).

    You'd use the ReconfigureAlarm method to do this.

    $predefined = "Host connection state","Host CPU Usage","Host Memory Usage","Virtual Machine CPU Usage","Virtual Machine Memory Usage"

    $serviceInstance = get-view ServiceInstance

    $alarmMgr = get-view $serviceInstance.Content.alarmManager

    $alarms = $alarmMgr.GetAlarm($null)
    $alarms | % {
         $alarm = Get-View -Id $_
         if($predefined -contains $alarm.Info.Name){
              $spec = New-Object VMware.Vim.AlarmSpec
              $spec.Action = New-Object VMware.Vim.GroupAlarmAction
              $spec.action.action = @(New-Object VMware.Vim.AlarmTriggeringAction)
              $spec.Action.Action[0].action = New-Object VMware.Vim.SendSNMPAction
              $spec.Action.Action[0].Green2yellow = $true
              $spec.Action.Action[0].Red2yellow = $false
              $spec.Action.Action[0].Yellow2green = $false
              $spec.Action.Action[0].Yellow2red = $true
              $spec.Name = $alarm.Info.Name
              $spec.Description = $alarm.Info.Description
              $spec.Expression = $alarm.Info.Expression
              $spec.Enabled = $alarm.Info.Enabled
              $spec.Setting = $alarm.Info.Setting

              $alarm.ReconfigureAlarm($spec)
         }
    }

    Alarms, listed in $predefined, will now send an SNMP trap when the State goes from green to yellow and when the State goes from yellow to red.

  • UTL_FILE is reportable

    Helllo,

    I transfer my Outlook Express to Windows live and wanted to know if I needed all the files in there, like Deleted Items.bak, Spam.dbx and others.

    I delete anything until you get things moved.  Messages can import dbx files and you might need the bak files.  Wait until it is finished and is saved and then you can get rid of things.
