Initialize a new hard drive
After a new WD 1.5TB drive has been installed as a slave, went to the management of records and initialized it. The reader is displayed and whether it's online, but no drive letter is assigned. Also there are no options for formatting by using the drop down menus. If I right click on it, the format option is gray. Where should I go here in order to format this drive, since it is supposedly now initialized?
Have you installed drivers (and firmware, if appropriate) for the new hard drive? Go to start / Control Panel / Device Manager and check to see if you can see the new drive. Double-click the drive for more information. Make sure that said tjos devoce os works correctly on the general tab (the first to appear) and confirm that the device drivers are installed and have no conflict.
Go to start / Control Panel / administrative tools / computer management / management of records and right click on the new drive. Click Partition Active (which is hopefully not grayed out). As soon as she is Active I think the Format and options to change the drive letter or path must turns off (a-grey). Otherwise, reboot and go back and see if they are now available. Then you can format the drive (I recommend NTFS) and then you can assign any available drive letter. When you go to Windows Explorer, you should see a newly available player.
I hope this helps. Please feel free to post back is that you have other issues.
Good luck!

initialize a new hard drive 2009
I have a Mac Pro (2009). After you install a new 2 TB HDD, I get a message saying that it is "not initialized". The computer does not recognize the HARD drive give me a description of its specifications, but won't initialize.
After the execution of first aid in disk utility, I get a green check mark and 'operation complete', no error messages.
Now what should I do?
Initialize, I don't see any claim that you have.

HP Pavilion 15 t-n200 CTO: new hard drive Help
Hello
Laptop was not start at all or take 15 + minutes to start. I did a full reset by removing the battery and was still stuck on the Hp logo. Conducted quick system check. All passes except Hard Drive short DST check: failed. Failure ID: GGFFTX-7407SB-MFPV6J-60V103 product ID: F6G93AV
Date of purchase was 08/05/2014 so out of warranty & cannot get help from support.
I guess I need to replace the hard drive? Is this correct? I need not recover files or data of the machine, so from own is fine. I want to upgrade to windows 10 once I get it - the initialization of the disorder began when I tried to upgrade, then machine evolves to 8.1.
How can I find the specifications to order a new hard drive to make sure that I get the right thing? Currently the car is ATA & 500 GB. Machine has Intel Core i5-4200U CPU @ 1.60 GHz Machine is not a touch screen.
Of course, I'd appreciate any help someone could pay before ordering something. Thank you!
Here is the Service Manual:
See p. 59 for hard drive replacement. Unfortunately, yours requires a bit of work to get on the hard drive, involving a removal of the top cover, but not the motherboard.
You definitely need a new hard drive and the system will accept any 7 or 9.5 mm thickness 2.5-inch wide SATA hard drive or disk solid state drive.
I'll assume that you are located in the United States, unless post you back and let me know if not.
I settle down to less than a mechanical drive of 7200 RPM like this:
You can also make a hybrid that has a bit of the State solid and also tops mechanical like this:
The best and fastest are a SSD drive like this:

Impossible to reinstall Windows 7 on a new hard drive
First off apologies if this has been answered recently, I spent the 2 days on this problem and the promise that I searched and google til my fingers bleed. Basically, the situation is as follows:
-The PC tells me HDD is faulty on my Studio XPS 8000
-J' I buy the new HDD, then get out of the old and install new
-Position the disc of the PC operating system, get up to where I can click on install to start the installation of Windows 7 on the new drive
-However he says there is no device driver on the disk, I put in the drivers and Utilities disc, (which came with the PC) but still no driver of the device, even if it says disk they appear thereon
-Back to the old drive and try to make the system recovery disk - try to use USB flash drive but is not recognized, so buy dvdr discs and go through initialization and then it begins to collect files, but on many tests is not go beyond 25% full, let alone engraving on the startup disk.
-Dell Datasafe Local Backup to uninstall and reinstall but the continuous PC to freeze at "25% collection files.
So, what can I do, because my warranty is over? All I have to do is install my copy already purchased WIndows 7 on my new hard drive already bought, but I'm stumped at this point. Thanks for any help of cutting-edge :)
Oh... PS. -I am in England so I don't think I can send away from the backup disks, even if the expiry of the guarantee is not a problem.
Follow the Windows reinstallation Guide / A clean installation of Windows 7:
http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/
The part you get stuck on is step 6, preparation of step 8 and SATA drivers loaded during the installation of Windows.
Note that I recommend using a .iso of Digital River, which will be the installation of more up-to-date media and the use of Activation and recovery of backup for the activation of the product. Follow the step 2 (using the files at the bottom) and stage 11 b for activation of the product. It is an unofficial solution but works very well.
You can of course try to call Support technique Dell and request a Dell Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 DVD of resettlement.

Install the new HARD drive, download "NTLDR is missing".
Finally found my Windows XP reinstallation CD and tried to install on a new hard drive, so I wouldn't have to worry about losing data on the former had his corrupt Windows Installer which can recover files at my ease once that I operate.
This is the problem... I can't to start from the reinstallation CD and get the message "NTLDR is missing, press CTRL-ALT-DEL to restart" dreaded. Is it fair that I have to do a simple "Format [drive]: / s" on it while it is in the caddy, then stuff in something like oakcdrom.sys and edit autoexec.bat to load, or y at - it something else, I have to find a way to put it out there?
Or is it after recovery by user and time to call the Geek Squad?
You may need the disk to zero so that there are no partitions. The installation of Windows may refuse initialize a disk if it detects unknown (to her) partitions on the disk. The diagnostic partition occupies entire disk? Otherwise, you can perform a custom installation, installing Windows allows you to create a partition, and then install direct to place Windows in there.

From January 2013, after a series of about 13 automatic updates, Windows 7 hang in the boot process. Using the repair function of the system on the Windows 7 installation disc, I was able to select a restore point at the beginning and Windows would be operated until I chose shutdown and updates would be automatically install 13 updates and then freeze at startup. Finally, in a workaround, I would choose standby extended instead of shutdown until the system would break down after 10 days. After going through this loop until the end of February, I bought a new hard drive and installed Windows 7 again. I used the product key and the OEM ID on the back of my Acer Aspire 5253 - BZ849, but keep getting prompts is not valid. How can I get this fixed WITHOUT PAYING for WINDOWS AGAIN!
The product key on the back label of the Acer PC is: * product key removed privacy * (initially, it has been accepted as valid. Now I get guests that it is not and I have 22 days to activate.) There is also a code in parentheses (X 16-96072), followed by 168-00196-149-361.

Add the new hard drive into the data store in ESXi 4.1
Hi all
I got ESX 4.1 installed on the Dell server, and I have 3 virtual machines on a data store.
I added a new 500 GB scsi hard drive to the server,
and I need to add it to the datasore or create a new...
How can I see this new hard drive? and add it to the data store?
Waiting for your help.

Abrams
Oracle system engineer
Abrams,
That's all I can help you. These instructions are based on the Perc 5 / i controller, which I think you have on our system. You have not specified the server so I just assumed that this is so.
1. unscrew the hot spare that you just made. Follow this link from Dell.
http://support.Dell.com/support/eDOCS/storage/RAID/PERC5/en/UG/HTML/chapterh.htm#wp10613432 follow the link for the installation of virtual disks - http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/storage/RAID/PERC5/en/UG/HTML/chapterh.htm#wp1069357
This link has three steps to void, skip the step on "spare parts of designate hot."
a. create the virtual disks and select virtual disk options. -Online steps to create another disk group and add the new disk to the disk group.
(b) designate the drives hot spares (optional). =>, YOU CAN SKIP THIS STEP
c. initialize virtual disks. -online must do. just do not initialize the incorrect disk. After the step #2 c, you should be able to access the drive in ESXi or command-line (list of nmp esxcli devices).
And no, you cannot add this manaully until do you step #2 above which is to define the disk group, creating virtual disks and initialize the virtual disk.
Good luck.

My MacBook Pro was built in mid-2009, a 2.6 GHz, 13-inch, I just put a new hard drive 700 GB and I added a new battery to include a new CD/DVD drive. I spent more than 400 million dollars.
I understand that I won't be able to get the next Sierra of OS. I need to by a new Mac?
Talk to the people the more I would get if I turn in I'd get is about are about $ 100 million. Please tell me it isn't so.
If you want Siera you will need a new Mac, but you can continue to use the old one as long as you want.

new hard drive, how to reinstall OS x
I have a new hard drive after a crash of the former. How can I install OSX top?
You should be able to boot the Mac using recovery Internet if you updated the firmware to enable.
OS X: on OS X Recovery - Apple Support
If you don't have to update the Firmware to allow it to use the Internet in recovery, you need to use the installation provided with the Mac DVD.
Either way, you start the Mac.
Open disk utility and format the drive under OS X Extended journaled.
Then, quit disk utility and reinstall OS X.
Who will install the operating system on the Mac (likely Lion).
You can then improve it to El Capitan.
If you have a Time Machine backup, you can restore it in recovery from the Internet instead of reinstalling the operating system.

My question is similar to the previous, BUT I don't HAVE my old file of saved bookmarks (nqa1hp6f.default). My old hard drive crashed and now have the new Firefox on new hard drive with Windows 7. New firefox bookmark name (August 6, 2013) seems to be (qlqx1k82.default), but not sure. Is there an easy way to put all of my old favourites in new file of firefox?

I installed a new hard drive after backing up my old one (Snow Leopard) on Time Machine. I can't understand how to restore the backup to the new hard drive.
First install the OS on the new drive.
During the installation process (or just after, I forget exactly), it will offer you the possibility to configure the machine based on a Time Machine backup. Point it at your TM drive and come back in the morning (it will take a long time).

Copy a project and media for the new hard drive
Greetings,
I have a very large project stored on an external hard drive and would like to copy the whole thing, including the original media linked to a new hard drive... because I'm afraid that my old one may cease to operate quickly. How can I go on the copy of my project to a new hard disc as well that all sounds, music and video are related?
Thanks for your help.
Hello.
You can create a library of transfer in the user interface and move the top project. (It it will copy as you move it to a new drive)
If you also move the media, it will break the links between the project and the media (audio and video). When you do that, use the command create a link (on the file menu). If you point to the good volume, it should find the media and offer you the ability to link again.
Good luck.
Russ
