I recently bought a backup disk says he would run faster is it my 3.0 instead of 2.0 USB ports.
Just try to understand the computer itself, if one of the 8 USB ports on my desktop Dell (Windows 7, 64-bit box) is capable of USB 3.0.Hi John,.
The message that Windows gives is Windows telling you put a USB 3.0 device in a USB 2.0 slot and the speeds will be Cap using USB 2.0 footrest.
If you are looking for your system on the website of Glens, it should tell you if one of the USB ports are 3.0 or not. I think that USB 3.0 is marked with the blue wire around the ports.

8. I tried to change some registry values by merging a regedit file in the registry - for display devices that are not present; but still, it has failed.
9. I then tried to delete the file infcache1.inf in c:\windows\system32\inf, but the problem persists.
10. Subsequently, I tried to create another registry entry to "disable selective suspend" in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\USB by adding DWORD and assigning a binary value of 1.
11. I tried later also to uninstall all the system devices including USB controllers, drives and the storage controllers, who must still without success.

16. I also contacted manufacturers pnp devices that provided me with most recent and versions compatible drivers for my devices - namely an apple ipod & Seagate external HARD drive - but even after that the drivers are installed properly and the system rebooted the problem remains. Is this something to do with the updated playing driver registry entries does not after the update? OR is what registry entries are configured to only read the entries at the time of the installation of the OS?
17. I also contacted local sellers who have suggested to me to change the "motherboard". This will help as a last resort?

Hello Ann,.
If it is a laptop computer, shut down Windows and remove the battery and the power supply of the PC.
Wait a few minutes, and then reconnect the battery and start Windows.
Plugin your device to see if it works, without the hub.

My wireless mouse works fine for the last 2 months, now, all of a sudden it doesn't work at all.
I get a windows notification that says-
"One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it."
I have Vista 32 bit OS on my laptop.
My office has Windows 7 32 bit and I am able to use the mouse on this computer, then the M225 is not defective.
I tried to look for a download of update on the site of Logitech & only found:
6.32.20 set - point it did nothing to help.
I also tried to move the receiver to the other 2 ports USB w / still the same results.
Are there other downloads or solutions that will help w / this problem?
You can also try searching for devices strangers (with yellow symbols) in the Manager under the mouse devices and other pointing devices and other devices (if any). Right click and uninstall unknown devices. Then restart.
Also try the steps below to reset the power of USB:
(a) the laptop off, unplugged from the wall outlet.
(b) remove the battery for a few minutes, then reinstall it.
(c) then restart the laptop. -

Portege M500 cannot start when the USB ports are loaded
We have a M500 that recently seems to be affected by start-up problems when the USB ports are loaded with things like KB and Wireless Mouse USB external adapter.
When these ports are occupied at the start, all the usual tools seem do not load and the associated icons do not appear in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen. The machine in question XP Professional and has 2 GB of RAM. The machine software is generally updated. Machine seems to start normally when the USB ports are empty.
Once completed a successful boot USB ports can be occupied and the machine will then seem to operate normally.
Any thoughts?
Thank you.
Hello!
In your case, I would do a BIOS update and also the chipset driver.
The two you can find on the Toshiba site. I m not sure but I think you have a model for Canada:
http://www.Toshiba.caHave you tested the devices USB on another computer laptop or PC? Maybe the problem is the keyboard and/or the mouse and not the laptop.
Good bye

tried already everything written here. When I plug my USB device (3 of them) my Windows a sad of the USB devices attached to this system has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. I tried plugging it into another winXP machine, it won't work. Can you help me?
Original title: usb malfunction
His salvation,
Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.
- What are the troubleshooting steps you have tried so far?
- If it works much earlier? If so, did you do changes on the computer before this problem?
- What type of USB device you are using?
As you mentioned that the USB device does not work when plugged into a WinXP machine, it may be a problem with the device itself. In addition, the question may also arise if the currently loaded USB driver has become unstable or damaged or if your PC requires an update for problems that could conflict with a device USB and Windows.
Therefore, I suggest you try the following methods (skip the ones that you already tried) and check if the problem persists.
Method 1:
Please try the fixit (s) provided below which will help you solve common problems associated with devices and USB ports.
- Hardware devices do not work or are not detected in Windows
- Diagnose and automatically fix the Windows USB problems
If method 1 does not work, try Method 2.
Method 2:
Remove and reinstall all USB controllers.
- Open Manager devices by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click system and security, and then, under System, clicking Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
- In the list of the categories of equipment, locate and expand Bus USB controllers.
- Right-click every device under the Bus USB controllers node and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
- Restart the computer and let the USB controllers get reinstalled.
- Plug in the removable USB device and test to make sure that the problem is solved.
If the problem persists, go to method 3.
Method 3:
This method will install the latest drivers from device to your USB device.
- Click the Start button, type Windows Update in the search box, and then click Windows Update in the results pane.
- Click find updates. When the scan finished, click optional review updates.
- Click the check box next to the update, and then click install updates.
- If you are prompted, read the license agreement, then click I agree.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to download and install updates.
- If you are prompted, restart your computer.
More information: Update a hardware driver that is not working properly
If the device fails after updating the driver, you can try to roll back the driver with its previous version.
Restore a driver with its previous version
Hope this information is useful. If the problem still persists, please post back for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.
