Inspiron e1705

My aunt recently gave me this computer and it turns out it was a corrupted hard drive so I corrected and upgraded windows xp to windows 7 currently, I have the same 1 GB of ram (2 STICKS OF 512 MB each).

I would like to upgrade to the limit of 7 Home premium 4 GB windows.  Is it always the same parameters depending on what kind of ram it must be.

Thank you

Matt

Hi matt1680,

Welcome to the community.

Specification of RAM that can be upgraded to the system would be even regardless of the windows you want to install on the system.

Here are the specs of your system's memory:

1 GB memory module capacities

Type of memory 1.8 V SODIMM DDR - II

Supports DDR - II up to 667 MHz

Minimum 256 MB memory

2 GB maximum memory

Also check the manual link, where you can find information on how you can replace the memory on the system:

I hope I could meet your request today.

Thanks and greetings

  • Minor problem with the New Installation of Windows 7 on my Inspiron E1705/9400 - two entries for "Base system device" under "Other devices" with yellow exclamation point

    Hello

First of all, let me tell you about my system.   It is of a laptop Inspiron E1705/9400 with the Core 2 Duo T7400 processor clocked at 2.16 GHZ.   It has 2 GB of RAM and a hard drive on the Hitachi Travelstar nine 500 GB (7200 RPM).   It also has the GeForce Go 7900 GS video card.    Previously, it had Windows XP Professional (32 bit) and worked well.   But, I have three computers in my home and Home Office and would they work better together on my wired home network, so I'm upgrading all three to Windows 7.   My two desktops (a Dimension XPS 420 and the other Dimension XPS 430) seem like they will be no problem to upgrade to Windows 7.   But, this laptop was not on the list of Dell Windows 7 compatibility.   However, the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor that I have downloaded and run seemed to say that it was OK to do a clean install of Windows 7 32-bit and he had only a few minor issues, where it says search the drivers updated from the manufacturer.   Initially, the laptop came with a 100 GB hard drive.   For my use, which becomes very small, so I decided to get the exact same 7200 RPM drive 500 GB size.   This will allow me to do a clean install of the 32 bit Windows 7 OS on the new hard drive and not have to wipe the old disk to do so.   I can just keep the old HD and paste it back whenever I need to get something out of it.

So, here's my minor problem.   After the transfer of some elements off the coast of the old hard drive, I installed the new 500 GB drive and installed a cleaning of the 32-bit version of Windows 7.    I'm happy to announce that I have not had virtually no problems with installation and everything seems to work fine.   He seems a little more zippy than before and I have not met so far that doesn't seem to work.   I went through most of features and almost everything is superb.   But there is a minor problem, showing in Device Manager.   At least, I think it's a minor problem, but maybe someone can give me feedback to know if she is or not.

In the Device Manager list, there is a category called "other devices" now and the icon shows a little white circle with an exclamation mark.    When you expand this category, you see two identical entries that say "Base system device" and the icon has a yellow circle with an exclamation mark inside.     I know from experience that it is not a good thing to see items in the device manager that have a yellow circle with an exclamation point.   I clicked on both of them and neither one really tells you what the device is, or who did what is site you would go to a driver.    On the general tab, it has the following information:

    -Device type Other devices

    Reference of the manufacturer- Unknown

                         Location     -         Bus PCI 3, device 1, function 3

Under device status, it says the following:

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is no driver selected for the item or a set of device information

To find a driver for this device, click Update driver.

Each of the entries seem to be almost the same thing... but not exactly.   The other has the location

list PCI Bus 3, device 1, function 2... instead of function 1.   This seems to be the only difference.

I tried the button to update the driver, but that doesn't seem to work.   No matter if you say it looks like your

computer or to look for a new driver from the internet, it does not find anything.     As I said at the beginning,

the system seems to work very well... but, given that I don't know what this device is or does, I might be missing something.

He drives me crazy just have these yellow circles with exclamation point hanging out in my device manager.

I could really use some help here.    Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Bryan Ray (Richmond, WILL)

BTW, I just downloaded and installed the driver pack from this ftp location and it worked, even for Windows 8.1 - 64 bit.

    Thanks Steve!

  • Jerky DVD on Inspiron E1705

Hi, I have problems playing DVDs on my laptop. Its an Inspiron E1705 whenever I try to watch a DVD with Cyberlink powerDVD or Windows media player I get video choppy and sound. This is the second time that this has happened. I had fixed it before, dell accessed my remote computer and downloaded stuff and who not, and it worked fine. all my DVDs played smoothly. but this is no longer the case. I went on the drivers and downloads site and looked at everything that is recommended for my laptop, but I don't know which would fix my problem. I don't want to download anything, I don't have to. I tried to put my computer in DMA mode (or whatever it is) and its already there, so he did nothing. I also tried to tinker with the settings DVD cyberlink (the program I prefer to watch DVDs in), it helped some but not a lot. Help, please. Thank you

  • Power Inspiron E1705/9400 vs 1525 adapters

I have an Inspiron 1525 and "inherited" from an Inspiron E1705/9400.  I think I mixed adapter that goes with which computer.  They both have the same PIN for power, so I think that either would work with either, but one of 90 watts and a 65 watts.  I don't think it's important, because I see available at Dell 130 and 180 watt adapters, so I think OVER watt is ok, but is IN watt? Also, I would really like to keep the adapter supplied with the 1525 with it, as it is at least a more recent year.  I sell the E1705/9400 and want the adapter provided to go with the computer.

I am failry sure the 65w adapter is the 1525, but would like someone to check my reasoning.  And, just for my knowledge, using an adapter 65w on a computer that came with a 90w adapter would cause harm?

This is the profile for adapters?

    Inspiron E1705 (9400)
    90W - AC Apadter
    PA - 10 Family
    DP/N: DF266
    PA-1900-01 D 3
    Model no: LA90PS0-00

    MARK WHITE:
    CN-ODF266-71615-735-6A3E
    REV A03

When I look at the parts for this computer, Dell Support, what is available are 90 watt adapters:
    # Part manufacturer: HH44H | Dell reference: 332-1833.
But, # don't tell me anything, that I don't see something like that on the card itself.
Also, I see that Dell has "you might also consider" a 130w and an adapter of 180 watts.

    Inspiron 1525
    AC adapter 65 w
    PA - 12 Family
    DP/N DF263
    PA-1650-06 D 3

    white label:
    Model no: LA65NS0-00
    CN-ODF263-71615-87 T-AFCC
    REV A03

Dell Support, when I look at the parts for this computer, what is available are: First, 90 Watt adapters (same model # as above) and a 130 w, then:
Refurbished: Assembly 65 Watt AC adapter for certain Dell Inspiron / Latitude / XPS
    KTD DF263 manufacturer
    Reference Dell manufacturer DF263

I see that the DF263 corresponds to the SP/N of the adapter that I have that I think is the 1525.

    Thank you, Steve

65W is fine for the 1525 - he was never offered with other than Intel video.

90W is necessary for the other system, especially if it has an nVidia or an ATI video card in it.

  • Update video card for Inspiron E1705

Hello, ladies and gentlemen, I have a question that was buzzing around my head somehow. Is it possible that I can improve my video card on my laptop which is Inspiron E1705?

The specifications of the computer so far is:

    -Intel Core 2 Duo CPU

    -2 GB Ram @ 667 MHz PC-5300 DDR

    -ATI Mobility Radeo X 1400 256 MB

I do this because its out of warranty now and its too expensive for me no more to buy more powerful laptop or desktop.

After looking around forums, most of the answers is a big NO and he pushed me a little bit. If there is no chance whatsoever, whatever happened, I bought a defective Inspiron with graphics NVidia 512 mb inside and Exchange my E1705?

I'm doing this because I'm a quite a player myself and using SolidWorks. The specification that I have is quite satisfiying, but as you know human never satisfy. So is it possible to change the graphics card from another laptop of Dell? If so, what laptop series Dell? If this isn't the case, please indicate why.

    Thanks for your time

  • [Inspiron E1705/9400] [SigmaTel] No work of audio headphones,

    Hello

I'm sorry for the numerous typos :)

I have an Inspiron 9400 with audio card SigmaTel. Unfortunately, it does not work. Speakers are not violated, and when I use headphones (with headphones), I can hear sounds. Windows has been reinstalled and installed the audio drivers from dell.com. But the speakers (Windows XP Home SP2), there is no sound.

I made the diagnosis (F12 at startup) and speakers, there are sounds! I don't know what to do in this situation. Help, please.

  • Message from fialure to the Inspiron E1705 Hrd drive

I booted the laptop earlier and he gave me a security warning message as soon as I signed up telling me to contact DELL because the hard drive is faulty and save all files. When I started the backup he filled my filling before D drive and then stopped the backup. It is also said to inform DELL of my hard drive type A Sumsung HM160JI ATA Device Volume D:\; C:\

That - does that mean and what should I do? I really am tired of talking to DELL support every 3 days lately on the keyboard, breaking the freezing DVD player and loosens in tray that's as well as all the other problems I have experienced lately. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I use Windows Vista Home for an OS Version If that matters.

  • CD/DVD drive Optiarc unit 5540 a for Inspiron E1705 does not

My Optiarc unit 5540 a disc is not recognized by Vista.  When a CD or DVD is placed in the drive, it runs but does not read.

In the Device Manager it shows this message:

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Click on 'Search for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

I tried to search for solutions and it indicates that the drive is up-to-date.  I tried to uninstall and reinstall but get the same messages.  I also went through the Dell troubleshooting and nothing fixed it.

Any help or idea would be greatly appreciated.

  • Distortion of the screen, Inspiron E1705

    Hello

I have a problem, for the last few months that acted in my screen upwards. It's a little hard to explain, so I apologize. The best way I can describe it, is that the screen has white lines going through it, as if the screen has been tearing? It will happen at random times, and when that happens, I see that the screen will darken. Then the distrotion do not recur, and the screen becomes lighter. It comes and goes out all the time, I downloaded the new drivers successfully a few days ago, but the problem is still intervene. For any info or suggestions would be great, thanks for the time!

  • After running Dell OS re - install DVD, my e1705 not illuminate

My Inspiron e1705 were running slowly and I kept getting the error at startup messages, so I decided to use the drive of resettlement for re - set the operating system (Win XP Media Edition).  While the installation was heading, I received several error messages:

s24trans.sys file required on Intel Pro/Wireless Transport Driver Install Disk

The procedure entry point GetRequestedRunTimeVersion could not be located in the dynamic link library mscoree.dll

    C:\Windows| Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\mscorwks.dll is not found

I cancelled in each message because I could not see any alternatives.  The process finished, and I was in XP with everything looking normal.  I closed my computer. As he was closing a pop - up of Avast said that a threat was found.  If I had Avast on the computer for awhile, I don't think I've seen one of these before pop-ups.  The computer closed before I could read.

I then tried to restart the computer.  When I pressed the button, the small yellow light while my finger was on the button, but nothing else happened.  The computer has not yet started turn on.  I tried the button several times, of course.  I wonder if the drive somehow got fried.  Ideas, suggestions?

The hard drive being fried wouldn't stop the system of power that the system can operate without a hard drive. However, it might be the motherboard failure or the charger does not work.

First remove the power cord, then remove the battery. Then press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. Then reinsert the battery and reinstall the charger and leave it for a few hours and then try powering upward.
