My outlook express is requiring a LogIn identity, I have NEVER in the past had this? It is demanding a password that I don't have?
Hello
I get all my emails and all my contacts are using Outlook express for my e-mail - * address email is removed from the privacy *. I did at least 6 years and more. I recently had a "LogIn Identity" poster come up I have here NO password, because I can't get ANY of my emails.
I am able to go online and get current email with Telus. However, all my contacts and previous emails via Outlook and I prefer to use this system.
I tried a fix with OMNITECH - who did online malicious components... knowing made unwanted change to Outlook Express data as well as the registry of the windows and currupted system some of the core system files. They asked to take on my computer and fix it for a COST of course and I've been uncomforatable with access to my personal information and has failed at this.
All I'm looking for is to come back to my Outlook express and remove this IDENTITY of the CONNECTION.
Help, please! I have access to another computer is possible to transfer or to open a new Outlook express and got all my emails and contacts SAVED :( Please, or I just have this problem fixed on my current system.
Thanks so much,
Patty

Connected to Outlook Express and all my existing e-mails have disappeared
original title: Outlook Express
Connected to Outlook Express and all my existing e-mails have disappeared. Only those today showed. I tried using the search of .eml files and get no results. Can anyone help with location on the hard drive the .eml files? Thank you.
You won't find files for Outlook Express .eml. They are stored in the format of data in the form of .dbx files.
******************************************
Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.
Why OE insists on compacting folders when I close it? :

Why mail disappears:

About file Corruption:
http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/IE/community/columns/filecorruption.mspxRecovery methods:
If you use XP/SP2 or SP3, and are fully patched, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.
To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.
Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.
In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.
Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.
Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.
First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.
If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.
If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.
If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:DBXpress run in extract disc Mode is the best chance to recover messages:
http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/default.aspxAnd see:
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#4A general warning to help avoid this in the future:
Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.
Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

- Messages if even received any at least in the second ID, in tools | Accounts, you also have the first account ID listed. First fix the Inbox.
Error number: 0x800C0133 = a corrupt Inbox.Move any message you want to save to a local folder that you create. Then, remove the problem of Inbox as follows.Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View. With OE closed, find the box of Inbox.dbx and delete it. Another will be created automatically when you open OE.To avoid this in the future:Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption. After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. I use a portable Thunderbird version because I want to use TB to collect e-mails for a few different accounts that I have scattered on different machines.
For example, I [email protected] on the machine one and two. [email protected] is also on the machines one and two.
After setting up the accounts of one and two in the mobile application, I can import only messages on behalf of one. I tried several times over the past two days. Thunderbird does not import the messages on behalf of two.
What should I do to import e-mail messages for several accounts in Thunderbird? This method of identity apply to your facility?
Remember also that OE messages are the eml files that can be moved directly from Explorer in a folder of TB, for example was created under local folders.

I use Windows XPO professional and Outlook Express 6.
Otherwise, how do you mean "emails should display"? I don't understand the problem then. What do you expect when you start OE?
If it is not directly in the Inbox, you can have corruption and you can go to file | Identities and setup a new identity. Then see if it works.

Spent many hours on the phone with technical support of at & t reset my email ID and password. My mail to yahoo at & t sending and reception, but the same message generates a Mailer Daemon failure notice when sent from Outlook Express for XP. at & t said that there is a Microsoft bug that they cannot solve. Who can help me to solve this problem that just started last night after years of functioning? Please contact me at * address email is removed from the privacy *. Thank you.
Why always a message in Oulook Express that the recipient of this message is not digitally signed, and then another one saying unencrypted and I click send anyway. How can I remove all this and just be able to send directly to who I want? When Outlook is genrating and alert error there are no detaisl provided on the error.
Start over. First eliminate interference antivirus (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3). After that go to file | Identities and editing and new identity. Set up your e-mail account to the$ T, and then use the settings they specify on their website for OE and also told you to support. (OE can connect and send to THE$ T, there is therefore no clear 'bug' with OE towards them). See if it works then.

Outlook express is to steal my bigpond email inbox emails, how do I stop this?
I have an e-mail (Telstra) Bigpond account and somehow outlook Express (OE) has been set up under the default display.
My emails will appear in Bigpond for a few days and then completely disappear and then appear in OE.
I don't want to have what is happening, I want to keep my emails in the Bigpond email account and stop using OE or disable so that continues to steal emails. Is there a way to do it, and I can all the old emails back across to the Bigpond account move?
Outlook Express cannot run all on its own. YOU must start it. ERGO, if you do not want to read e-mail with Outlook Express, simply do not run.
If you can't refrain from starting, remove the mail account of it. If you do not want to do it again, then change the settings for the account to leave a copy of messages on the server.
