Install Vista on a Partition on a hard drive recovery nine

I'm working on HP Pavilion dv6500 laptop from a friend who was in Vista.  She never made the recovery disc and, apparently, the hard drive crashed while I install a new.  (Tries to recover, rescue / reformat all failed.)  Chkdsk, etc. failed too.)  I was able to copy the recovery on an external hard drive partition, but don't know how to install Vista from the BASE.wim (6.5gig) and other files that I recovered.

Thanks in advance for the entry and if I have left out important info, please let me know.  Thank you.

Drew

Thanks for your reply.  HP wants $45.  And you say that it you can buy a HP burner too?  Also order at HP or buy a similar OEM from the same manufacturer?

Hey DrewFDQ

I only mentioned that question on the hard drive that some posters have had problems with hp after having replaced with non hp hard drives

before doing anything on the hard drive to get the recovery disks and see if they work on your new hard drive

they should

It's only a couple of posters who brought her here and I thought I would mention it you

You can replace a hard drive under oem license

This isn't a problem

good luck with the resettlement

    Hello

    None

you don't have to buy another license

  • Satellite L555 - 10M - deleted Partition D and HARD drive recovery

    Hi all

I deleted my D partition on my laptop also drive HARD recovery. Now my Question is how to retrieve an Image on this Partition? I have a recovery CD and I can start it but it s only a picture for Windows 7 32 bit.
If I boot from CD then a warning appears, who asked if I have already created an Image. If I click Next, then it will format my C Partition.

Can someone tell me how I can create a new Image without C format?

    Thank you very much

    Hi hardpoekel,

Why you deleted the D partition if you didn't create the Toshiba Recovery disk? Sorry, I put t understand.

I think the point is that drive recovery of what you have now only contains an image of Windows 7 32 bit. AFAIK on Satellite L555 - 10 M is Windows 7 64 bit preinstalled and create a recovery for this OS disc, to use the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator. But now it of too late because you deleted the files on this disc.

I think that going back to Windows 7 64-bit, you can order a Toshiba Recovery disk:
    https://backupmedia.Toshiba.EU/landing.aspx

You can use the recovery disk from current 32 bit without any problems, but it will only restore 32-bit version instead 64-bit.

  • Satellite L650-11F - how to access HARD drive recovery?

    Hello!

    I have a Toshiba Satellite L650-11F.

The other day I had a huge massive Goner virus (lol) and the computer is turned off. Whenever I tried to turn it on, it started to load Windows, and then restart. I tried to start Windows in safe mode but the same thing happened, just keep restarting. I tried to repair Windows (by pressing f8 and etc.) and without success, he kept restarting.

So I tried to put it because it came from fabric and when I press 0 or F1 happears just 2 options: choose an opperating system to start or press tab to select a tool: Windows 7 tools: Windows memory diagnostic

Can you help me please? Is there another way I can access the hidden hard drive recovery partition? Please :(

    Hi dakova,.

Ist it Toshiba's original OS is still installed? I ask this question because it of necessary for the recovery of HARD drive. If you have installed another OS, you can access t HARD drive recovery option.
In addition, recovery of HARD drive option is available if you press the F8 key before Windows starts. In the advanced boot menu, select fix my computer. The exact procedure is described here:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

Alternative, you can take the Toshiba recovery disc. This will also restore the original settings. :)

  • Can satellite A300d-16W - I use HARD drive recovery after installing Win XP?

I formatted my PC and installed XP. Can I reinstall Vista using HARD drive recovery?

    > I formatted my PC and install XP

No, you cannot use the recovery HARD drive after installing Win XP because looks like you have formatted the HARD drive and the HARD disk partition has been erased.

So you need to use the Toshiba Recovery disk that I hope, you created before you formatted the HARD drive.

    Hello

Step 2: You can also check if the problem persists in the clean boot state.

Put your boot system helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

  • Tecra A8-104: how to create a second partition on the HARD drive

    Hello.

I had to use the recovery disk, and I deleted by mistake my (two) initials of the partitions on the HARD drive. : ((now, I have only one.

Can someone tell me how I can fix this?
    I want 2 partitions, not one. x 10

The Toshiba Recovery CD could create two partitions.
The installer will ask where or how install the OS on the HARD drive.

For example, the HARD disk supports 100GB. So you can choose the first 60 GB for installing the OS and the difference (40 GB) could be activated after the installation of the OS.

This can be done in the management of the computer-> disk management.

Someone at - it a good tip? Thank you.

    Hello

"All new Toshiba laptops are delivered WITHOUT records of facilities and you need to create this single disc using preinstalled" Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator. This application shortcut is placed on the desktop.

When you buy new notebook and start using preinstalled system small recovery disk content followed operation recall must be:

    * + Important INFORMATION + *.

    * + your system is equipped with a hard drive recovery system. If you need to repair your computer in the restaurant to the original factory condition, you can do it directly + *.
    * + HDD (press F8 when you start your computer, choose "Repair your computer" and follow the instructions in the menu) or create a media drive bootable recovery to that end. + *.
    * + Toshiba recommends you create recovery disk medium using the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator' to ensure that you are able to restore your computer to the original state that is installed at the factory, even if your computer is seriously damaged. + *

Then please create restore DVD using DVD - R blank emptiness. I assume that you need 2 of them.

I was wondering if someone could tell me if my recovery disk would be automatically installs the drivers for SATA HDD on my P100-188, in the case of a hard drive failure total without needing a floppy drive.

I've never had to use my recovery disc (touch wood), but I have the impression that it works in conjunction with a hidden partition on the hard drive in order to reinstall the operating system if and when necessary, I am not mistaken? If I'm so what happens if the hard drive is destroyed and a new disk? A

s Windows is not integrated SATA drivers I've read on the Internet that would stop dead in its tracks installation if you do not have a diskette at hand drive.

Someone had to deal with this problem?

    Hello

Yes, the restore CD installs everything you need in a single step.

The point is that the Toshiba Recovery CD is not the same as an original CD of MS Windows. The restore CD contains an image. It s a Pack that included OS Win, Toshiba drivers, utilities and software tools extra.

So, using the CD recovery will install all the applications mentioned, as well as the SATA drivers ;)

    Welcome them

  • Satellite A100-192: what I lose warranty if I create a partition on the HARD drive

    Hello everyone,

I want to format my laptop (Toshiba Satellite A100-192) and 2 partitions. I've been using EMP cd + recovery CD, it's very simple, but I don't want to install all the programs of Toshiba. I want to install a Windows 'fresh '.

I read all the messages on Toshiba Express media CD + recovery CD and xxxx on the HARD drive. I'm a bit confused. Many of you said: 'use only EMP recovery cd + CD' or ' do not xxxx 2 or more on your HARD drive - you can lose the warranty of your laptop.

I have another CD with Windows XP Pro OEM. It is best to create partitions, install from that cd and after that to install the drivers from TOOLSCD?

Of course, I don't want to lose my warranty, please tell me how it is better to do!

    Sincerely yours.
    Daniel

    Hello

    > Many of you said: 'use only EMP CD + recovery CD' or '' do not 2 or more partitions on your HARD drive.
' > you can lose the warranty of your laptop.

Someone told you a big story :)

It turns out; you do not lose the warranty after you create partitions on your HARD drive!
Only if you open the laptop and will try to fix something by yourself, you will lose your warranty.

Of course, you can use your fresh and original Windows operating system. After the installation of the operating system, you can install the drivers from the CD tools Toshiba or you're going to download it from the page of Toshiba.

  • Equium L350 - 11 d - how do I delete the second partition on the HARD drive

How can I delete the second partition that came with the laptop, so I can use the full capacity of computers HARD drive?

I feel that this partition is their because I have not created a DVD of recovery he would remove the partition once I created the recovery DVDs.

The score contains a folder of HARD disk RECOVERY and in the folder says do not delete or change this folder or files.

    I have a Toshiba Equium L350 - 11 d

As you have already said that the second partition contains the HDD Recovery folder if you would remove this partition you will not be able to create the recovery DVD and would not be able to recover the laptop HARD drive.

Therefore, you must create the DVD before recovery would remove anything from the second partition on the HARD drive.

After you create the DVD recovery successfully, you could remove the partition and could add the free space on the HARD disk on the first partition.
This can be done on disk management!

This is a useful page for Microsoft:

  • How to divide two partitions on my HARD drive?

I have the original recovery DVD in my book and I don't know how to repartition my HARD drive.
I want to divide it into two scores (primary and extended?

    Hello

If you want to create a second partition on the HARD drive I would really recommended using a 3rd party utility magically 8 partitions
This tool is amazing. You can create and manage partitions on the HARD disk while Windows is running.

But you can also create a partition by using the recovery CD.
In this case, you will need to boot from the CD recovery and under the installer or expert mode.
Simply type the first partition size and the restore CD will create a 1 partition on the HARD disk.
After installing the OS, go to disk management, and then you bring up the second partition.

PS: Using the recovery CD will erase the whole HARD drive! That's why I prefer the use of the PM8

  • Help a fool please ~ deleted partition, lost the hard drive size

I'll try my best to make this as clear as possible, thank you for your time...

Received my free copy of windows 7 home Premium

Wanted a clean install (not an upgrade)

Back up all the data and the programs that I installed

During the installation of win 7, I deleted the recovery of the system partition and the 2nd partition of my HARD disk (has been labeled d, came that sort of lenovo factory, had 70 GB size I think)

I thought that if I deleted the partition of the hard drive space would be added to the 1st partition and it did not

Have materialized with the installation of win 7, and now I just have never found my C: and the GBs of the 2nd old partition so its as if I lowered my total HARD disk size

How can I get my C: to have all of the 320 GB? Thanks for any advice!

You can allocate the unused disk space as follows.

    Start > run > diskmgmt.msc

Right-click on the Windows partition [should be C] and click on "expand". Extend partition as needed and enjoy.

[You may want to print these instructions for reference offline. If a step said to reboot, reboot.]

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. After completing some you have a copy of your handy product key, uninstall all Norton software (including LiveUpdate and everything Norton Add ons) viaControl Panel | Programs | Uninstall a program (or Control Panel |) Programs and features, if you are using the classic view).

4 IMPORTANT! -Online activate Windows Firewall immediately after the restart.

NB: Now you're "working without a net": no to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation, reading e-mail, chat) until you have completed step #7 below!

    5. right click on the file that you saved in step #1 above, and then select run as administrator.  DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    6. do a clean install of NIS 2011 (using your product ID, if need be) & reboot. CF. http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080514162318EN

    Hello

D: is not a partition backup of your machine.

Acer has a time set up their machines to the way yours is:

They had a C: drive for the operating system, a drive D: for data (music, movies, etc you would like to register and a recovery partition 'hidden' to reinstall the operating system and to make the recovery discs to do the same thing.)

You can merge C: and D: as a whole, BUT save all data on D: first because it will be deleted when you merge.
