Install Windows 10 Pro lowered home (with no product key) after expenses.

Received my Lenovo ThinkPad 11th yesterday and after much research, I decided to do a clean install. It came with WIndows 10 Pro and I checked the settings (that I created my Windows account at the same time) and he said that it has been activated using Windows. According to the instructions of Microsoft (and various YouTube videos, I've looked), once a machine is activated, it would automatically update the product key, so no need to find.

That is the problem. I had installed 10 Windows on a USB key and the installation went well, or so I thought. I checked the settings after installing different programs that I would use as he said that I need activate Windows. Well, checking settings, he lowered me 10 Windows Home and of course the the product key in the system (if it's still there) that is the error I get is not valid.

Of course, it is not a product key on the bottom of the computer and there is nothing in the box. How can I get my product key back so that I can install Pro back?

Using ProduKey, I get two different keys. One for the new Home edition and the other for the OEM Bios. I guess that I need reintsall (new) and use the key in BIOS Yes?

So guess what? He's back for Pro and it is activated!

I think what happened is that I downloaded the single language version and that's what he screwed up. I just redownloaded windows 10 (first on the menu drop-down) and he installed Pro and activated.

Creating new media doesn't let you choose, he will choose for you based on your product key from the system.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, you can as long as you remove the x 86 version first by reformatting the hard drive.

  • Windows 7 will not activate with the OEM key, after the failure of HARD drive.

    Hello

I was recently asked to repair my brother DELL laptop.  The HARD drive failed and the system unusable.  I replaced the HARD drive and installed Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 (earlier version of windows) from my own installation media.  The recovery partition had survived the failure of HARD drive, I would have just cloned that and used, but this was not an option in this case.

The problem that I am experiencing, is that windows don't will not activate, saying that the key is not valid.  I was told that installing Windows 7 media would work with a retail or an OEM key, but that doesn't seem to be the case.  The key OEM I use, is from the computer it came from originally, and the only material change is the new HARD disk.

I try to avoid ordering an OEM Dell installation CD, as which costs money (I already have my own installation CD) and takes time (why do they have them available for download?).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

you use an OEM SLP key that only works with the manufacturers recovery media.

change the product key to that on computers of COA
Click Start, type slui3, press ENTER.

    Additional information:

Computers, which are built by large manufacturers provided with pre-installed Windows are supplied with 2 two product keys:

OEM SLP: This key comes pre-installed in Windows, when it comes to the factory. This key is designed to work with the special instructions isn't on the hardware of this manufacturer. Then, when Windows was installed using the OEM SLP (in factory) Windows 7 key leans on the motherboard and he sees special instructions and activates. (that's why you had no need to turn on your computer after you brought it home)

COA SLP: it's the product key that you see on the sticker on the side (or at the bottom, [or in the battery compartment]) of your computer. It is a valid product key, but must be used only in certain situations (for example, if the OEM SLP key stops automatic activation for a reason any). The key must be activated by phone. (Note: all manufacturers that use the SLP OEM system are bound by contract to include a certificate of Authenticity sticker (COA), which has a COA SLP key, on the computer)

  • Can I install Windows 8 Pro 64 bits with a 32-bit Windows 8 Pro license key?

I get confused! If they are the same, then eveyone would buy a 32-bit and then install 64-bit... is it true? Your response is truly appreciated.

Yes, the product key works independently of the architecture (32- or 64-bit), so you can use the same product key used to activate 32-bit Windows 8 Pro with 64-bit Windows 8 Pro.

  • Is it possible to install Windows XP Pro. SP3, with its bootable CD slipstreamed, in an external USB2 media (HARD/flash stick drive)?

    Hello!

Is this possible? I know it is slow due to the speed of USB2, but it is only for rapid tests and do not want to mess with my internal hardware (HARD drive has an old Windows XP Pro. Installation of SP3 with lock hard ups with videos - need to understand if it is my software or hardware) in my current computer. In addition, it doesn't help that I have a disability (cannot yet use a screwdriver).

    Thank you in advance. :)

    Hello

XP was not designed for what you want to do.

XP is designed for use on internal hard drives.

There are various ways that people on the Net have resulted in do.

You would have to use Google for this information.

Here is an example after a search on: "how to start xp from a USB key or external hard drive.

    http://www.ehow.com/how_4853554_install-XP-external-hard-drive.html

You run into problems of Activation that you would need a second XP license if you use the same XP disk because a license is not good for one Installation, even on the same computer.

  • Install Windows 7 Pro 64 bit with UEFI mode

Hello world! So I'm here to talk about the installation of Windows 7 for the UEFI mode and I know a lot of people said it stucks on "Starting Windows" during installation, but I have a few question that my opinion:

    1. If a hard disk has come to Windows 8/8.1 with OEM or retail as installed, it should disable Secure Boot?

    2. If Windows 7 it remains stuck, the solution most is all in a hard drive format after Windows 8/8.1 backup partition and install Windows 7 with UEFI without getting stuck? I need to install it with TPG...

    Hope will understand. ;-)

Secure boot is integrated in the firmware, not the installation hard disk.

You can just boot from the installation media and format the hard drive.

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD

    Click Install now

    Accept the license agreement

When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

    Click on drive Options

Select the disc/s click on Delete

    Click new

    Click on apply

    Click OK

Click Format, and then click next to proceed with the installation

  • I have an ACER Travelmate p273 loaded with Windows 7 Pro. Where is the product key?

In the last month, I received an alert from MS that I have an unofficial version of the operating system. Order to veriy that's an authorized version, they ask for a product key. Can not find on the computer or on any of the disks provided with this package. Any suggestions?

For anyone else having this problem: eventually had to call Microsoft to help customer service. The product key, I had been locked by Ms. representative provided a new product key that allowed me to work with MS Windows 7 pro. So far everything seems to work ok.

If it wasn't for the financial software I use and which is not supported under Linux I completely divorce me MS and run only the Linux OS. For the moment, I use Ubuntu 16.04.

  • Impossible to install windows 8 - we could not verify the product key

    Hello

I have a HP G laptop computer series. The laptop comes with Windows 7. I. I upgraded to WIN 8 pro when windows 8 has been released. Recently, my laptop hard drive crashed completely due to bad sectors. I replaced with a new hard drive and tried to install WIN 8 from a dvd disk created from Windows download site.

Now, the installation fails in the "enter product key to activate windows. The error is , we could not verify the product key. Please check your installation media.

What can I do here? I can't install Windows 7 also because my laptop didn't come with a backup installation disk but just a restore system partition that get lost with swap HDD too.

I was struck here for weeks. Please help me.

To install Windows 8, you must have a previous Version (XP Sp3, Vista or Windows 7) installed at installation time. Your RESUME must have given you the opportunity to make a series of DVD of Windows 7, when you first start using your computer. If you have done these and then use them for the recovery of Windows 7 on your computer and then update for Windows 8.0. If you don't do this why? Your other option is to contact HP support and have then send you a recovery of Windows 7 DVD set. They will charge a small fee for these to help cover their costs.

Hope this helps and if you need any additional aid station and we will be happy to help you.

The above opinion is mine and mine nothing and does not necessarily reflect that of Microsoft, it's employees, or any other Member of this forum.

  • Activator Windows 8 Pro on VMWare Fusion 5 - product key does not work

I installed a copy retail of windows 8 pro on the fusion 5 using a 64-bit installation disc which worked well (it's my first virtual machine so I didn't install windows 8 to an existing partition of windows 7, so I installed just installed windows 8 new) during the installation it asked for the product key, which he accepted. After installation I tried to customize windows 8 and he told me that I had to "activate windows". I go into settings > activate windows, enter the product key and it will not accept it. He refuses my product key and I do not know how to work around.

How to activate windows? I bought a bad copy of windows 8? Should I buy an OEM version of windows 8? Any help would be great!

    Thank you

If you just do what it says in the section "Activate Windows 8 Pro Upgrade" Windows 8 Upgrade: pure install possible? and be done with this problem!

  • Windows xp Pro for PC refurbished - no product key invalid

A friend brought me their computer today. It is an IBM Netvista refurbished. They also gave me the CD alone, they got when they bought the computer from buy.com. This is a Windows xp professional (includes service pack 3) for the CD of PC refurbished, part No. x 14-66864. I did a repair of the computer installation and when we asked for a product key, I used that label alone cost I can find on the computer. It returns a valid product key message. I guess that's the original label of the CoA and not on its refurbished CoA label. I searched up down and all parts of outside the computer and open the case inside and sought for a renewed CoA label and is not a. Can anyone help me please with the activation of this installation of windows?

I ended up doing a clean install using the Belarc Advisor product key was extracted from the previous installation of windows refurbishment. Installation went great, but windows doesn't always have to activate using the product key for renovation. Given that it was a clean install with 30 days to activate, it has allowed me to connect and windows is working properly. I then used the Windows product key update tool Carey suggested and changed the product key to that of the old original CoA label on the side of the case. Then finally activated, windows and I can now use windows update.

  • Windows activation - new hard drive and reinstalled Windows, but will not work with the product key

    Hi all

My hard drive died so I put a new in and installed Windows on a drive, but when I have just activated and put my product key does not work. In fact, I get this day by putting in and then it says character not aloud.

Please can someone help? All I've done is put a new hard drive in but guess that Windows detects that the product key has been used on the old, which explains why it won't work on the new. What should I do to activate the key?

    Thank you

    Richard

Thanks a lot for your useful replies. I've got in contact with Microsoft and they gave me a key and it worked!

    Thank you

  • Windows says I need to activate my product key after motherboard change

    product key

HELP, I recently changed my motherboard in my dell 490 accuracy now my windows activation is indicating that I need to activate my product key. I have been using this product key for now.need some time to get this problem is resolved.

    Hello

You cannot change your motherboard without the approval and assistance from Dell

    read this:

If you have a license to OEM preinstalled, DELL, HP, etc any update at the Board level or changes must be done jointly with the computer manufacturer

an OEM license is linked to the original tho hardware it is installed on this computer life

When the computer dies the license dies with him, unless the manufacturer is willing to help you

If you did this Dell wihtout support and approval, you have cancelled your vista license
