Install Windows 8.1 own

Hello, I have a X 1 carbon 2014 supplied with licensed OEM Pro Windows 8.1. I have a clean to get rid of bloatware and partitioning scheme Lenovo installation. I have two questions:

(1) where can I get the installation ISO official Microsoft disc?

(2) I need a product key to use when installing? I've heard of Windows 8 keys are now integrated in the BIOS somehow.

Thanks in advance

Nice day.

1. contrary to Win7, there is no download link for Win8/8.1, by restrictions of Ms. There are methods for obtaining an image (?) Installable Win8.1 to Win8 installation work, but I have no experience with this process.

2. Since your Gen2 carbon is with Win8.1Pro OEM, the key is embedded in the UEFI/BIOS (MS OA3.0) and must be picked up during the installation as long as versions match: std std or pro to pro.

Kind regards.

Because Win10 is preinstalled on your PC, it is a very BAD idea to tinker with Windows Insider editions.  I have used for months and discovered that they can be very bug - as basically they are testing versions.

Ordinarily, I advise to use HP recovery media to restore your PC to its original state. That would erase the entire disk, format the drive and install the operating system, drivers and utilities HP.

Unfortunately, there is no support of HP recovery related to HP for your PC Product Page. Thus, you will need to contact customer P directly, using the links below, to see if you can order them if:

If you live in the United States or the Canada, details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: once you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to someone ' one - it can take a while!

    Good luck

    Hello

Here is the Vista Forums, you send messages to.

Vista doesn't do not part of the update free Windows 10, so 10 would not settle.

The free update is for 7, 8/8.1 and 10.

    See you soon.

  • Install Windows DV8110us own

Have a laptop HP Pavilion DV8110us purchased in 2006.  Under XP SP3.  The upgrade to Windows 7 with a clean install.  A run the MS Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.   This laptop has the AMD Turion 64 clocked at 1.8 mhz chip.  I have 2 GB of memory.  Looking through the options of Win7, I decided to order Win7 32 bit, since I'm an accountant only 2 GB of memory.  Win 7 64 bit seems to be happier with 4 GB.  While the Adviser shows that I have some drivers that need to update after installing Windows 7, I just noticed that the NIC Realtex RTL8139/810 x needs a new driver for Win7 32 bit, but under Win7 64-bit, the NETWORK card is compatible.

Should I have ordered Win7 64-bit?  Or should I look around a new Realtek driver?  Realtex has a link to an old Vista driver that should work.  Other research suggests that a feasible driver might be on the Win7 DVD.   Would appreciate responses from anyone doing this migration.

    Hello:

You can use this driver W7 ethernet directly from realtek.  Second on the list.

    http://www.Realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?langid=1&PNid=14&PFID=7&level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GETDOWN=false

You don't want to bog down your PC with a 64 bit OS.

They need of more memory and disk space to run a 32 bit OS only.

You're quite right - I wouldn't close an OS 64 bit without a minimum of 4 GB of system memory.

I got a new ssd 160 GB Intel X 25, as well as a copy of Ultimate Windows to install on it. I jumped on the original hard drive and replaced it with the ssd. I have updated the firmware on the ssd to the latest version and install installed Windows 7 Ultimate on it without problem, do a clean, of course, as the drive was empty.

I have installed and used the Lenovo utility to update the drivers, including the video driver, but I noticed that the T400 heated epic purportions. He ran very cool with XP. In fact, I could use it all day, and the bottom of the unit was not at all hot. Not true with Win 7 64. Not even close. The bottom of the machine has been physically warm to the touch, with most of the heat coming from the left of the bottom, close to the screen.

It has scared me, and I jumped the original disk HARD back in, and I am running XP, with the machine running nice and cool with no problems. Could someone help me diagnose the possible cause of this phenomenon?

    Thanks in advance!

I'm closing this thread. The heat stopped after a period of time. Don't know what caused it in the first place. The issue is dead as far as I'm concerned.

  • Cannot install windows 7 on a PC brand nine own because of "no pilot of the aircraft were found. Help, please?

I recently bought a new PC online and then on arrival, I realized that it does not include an operating system. Then I went to buy windows 7 Home premium and trying to install, I get an error message that says:

No pilot of the plane have been found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK.
I'm a bit HE is competent, but I have no idea how to solve this problem, or even what it means. After research on the internet all day, I met many solutions that need actually be downloading stuff on the PC in question, but I have no way to do it without an operating system installed.
I am desperate for any help, it would be much appreciated.
    Thank you.

If you have compatible hardware and your computer still stops responding, disable any unnecessary material. Remove (USB) universal serial bus devices. Remove or disable network cards, sound cards and cards of the series; and then restart the installation.

If you have several internal storage devices connected to the computer, disconnect all except the disk target hard where you will install Windows 7.

  • Error message when you try to install Windows on OSX 10.10.5 10

I have a Mid-2014 retina Macbook Pro and I am trying to use the Bootcamp Assistant to install Windows 10 on OS X 10.10.5 and Bootcamp version is 5.1.4. I can't upgrade to El Capitan from now due to work related software, long story!

I took the steps so far:

    (1) reset the PRAM.

    (2) reset SMC.

    (3) ensure that only a single partition is present using disk utility.

    (4) check the permissions of the drive and repair at least twice.

    (5) check the disc.

    (6) use Bootcamp assistant create the Windows Installer by using 64-bit Windows 10 iso file downloaded from Ms. All boxes have been checked.

    (7) in a suitable place when Windows Setup asks me what partition choose, I select created Bootcamp partition and click on Format. Product key has been entered each time.

    (8) installation continues until the point where it says "Ending up", then a pop-up window comes up saying "Windows cannot update the configuration to start the computer, Setup cannot continue."

    (9) I click OK and the window behind what is said "installation has been cancelled, any changes made to your computer will not be saved."

    (10) the computer is stuck on this screen for awhile. When, finally, he tries to restart, I just get a white screen. and eventually everything goes off.

    (11) when I turn on again, if I hold down the Option, I can see the OS X partition, partition Windows, recovery disc, then Windows on my USB (in yellow) and the "EFI Boot' in yellow.

    (12) I tried to click on Boot EFI, and goes through the same installation process and gives me the same error.

    (13) I tried to click on the Windows USB button, it starts to install (with the normal resolution unlike every other time) and this time gives me the error message "Windows cannot be installed on partition disk 0" (View details) "when I click it, it says"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk is the GPT partition style. »

I'm pulling my hair out on this one (and I don't have much to lose) Please HELP!

Your Mac of 2014 is able to support two different types of Windows, most modern BIOS or EFI old installation.

The Windows icon on USB is the method inherited from the BIOS while the start EFI icon is the most recent and modern method. Each has its own requirements for partitioning.

2014 BC on 5.1.4 Assistant should have three check boxes. The first two should be checked only once to build the installer, while the last one can be used as needed.

    1. use the last checkbox to delete the current partition of BC.

    2. use only a USB flash drive (USB2 is preferable), other USB devices or SD cards cause problems.

    3. run SMC/NVRAM reset external storage after everything is disconnected.

    4. the USB should be directly connected on the Mac. Do not use a USB hub.

    5. your ISO source must be an ISO only 64-bit and about 4 + GB. ISOs larger and mixed-mode are not valid for MCR, although they can run on an ordinary PC.

6 re - run BCA and check the last box - only install or delete... and try again.

  • Professional PC: install Windows 7 on a new PC

I intend loading Windows 7 on my new business PCs are there any settings I need to change? What should I know?

    Hey Bill,.

Windows 7 can be installed on most recent business PCs. There are some requirements and parameters, as you should be aware.

    • First of all, you can not install Windows 7 on a computer with a 7th generation of processor.
    • You must change the version of the TPM secure on the PC or install a fix from Microsoft.
    • You must use the legacy (non-UEFI) mode in the BIOS.
    • You need your own copy of Windows 7 and a license for Windows Professional 10.

You can find more information and measures to http://www.hp.com/support/Windows7and10TPMFAQ

  • Error: "could not create a new partition or locate a" when installing Windows via Boot Camp 10

This error occurs on my 2012 15-inch MacBook Pro. I have 2 hard drives. One dedicated to OSX and one for Windows. This is my first install bootcamp. I let bootcamp create partitions, but to the partition/disk screen hard to choose, I get a message saying: "we could not create a new partition or locate a.. The partition has been formatted to NTFS. I tried later in this guide community post here: error: "we could not create a new partition or locate and existing" install Windows via Bootcamp 8.1, but no luck. I even tried to delete the partitions and create a partition empty for windows so it can create and format on its own and start using EFI. At this point, windows begins to install it and restart, but it fails during the part material recording and restarts. Then when it starts again I get a message that the installation has failed.

Here's some output terminal which can help you to (I) hope.

You must disconnect the internal bus 500 GB SATA drive and use a flashdrive USB2 for OS X from startup. The 320 GB designated drive must be in the main Bay of the Mac. Once Windows is installed, reconnect your 500 GB drive in the Optibay (if you this road main Bay) will be Windows blue screen in most cases.

  • HP keyboard mapping inorrect freshly installed Windows 7 / XP on HP Pavilion 500-202eo

    Hello

After you have installed Windows 7 Ultimate on HP Pavilion 500 - 202eo, I noticed that the HP keyboard connected is incorrectly mapped. I had exact same questions with the mapping of the keyboard with new operating system installs on oher systems as well, but couldn't really find a solution for this. In fact, certain symbols appear to move; While normally, where usually I had to press Alt Gr + 2 I got the sign @, I must now press shift. The? + button now product - character, while pressing on - product button /, <>product button------etc. I tried to put the keyboard in 'Norwegian', which is the layout of my keyboard, but nothing helped. It seems that I must be missing some type of a pilot or a patch, which is present on each preinstalled system that I own, but somehow is missing on installed fresh, even if there are no conflicts in Device Manager. I have the same problem on the XP installation. Any suggestions?

Hello again once, I managed to solve this problem by specifying the correct keyboard language in Control Panel. I didn't need drivers after all.

  • Clean install Windows 7 with UEFI in dv6-7215nr

Hi, I would like to do a clean install of my HP dv6-7215nr Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 x 64 envy laptop.

To this end, I have 3 questions to solve some installation issues.

    1. What are the steps to clean install Windows 7 SP1 Enterprise intact in UEFI mode?

I tried to install Win 7 after the pre-requisites following:

    (a) not partitioned 200 GB free space on the disk (only 1 physical disk)

    (b) already installed Windows 8 files with UEFI

    (c) UEFI enabled

    (d) heritage disabled startup

    (e) secure boot disabled

When I Boot in UEFI of CD/DVD, I can't switch to the Windows startup screen, it just hangs. What I am doing wrong? Is there any other prerequisites that I don't know?

I tried to install UEFI with Legacy enabled Boot, and I installed win7 but I can't disable Legacy new Boot because Win7 boot and I want only the UEFI Boot and need for inheritance disabled.

    2. where can I download drivers for Windows 7 for my laptop?

    I found this topic:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-operating-systems-and-software/HP-envy-DV6-7210ei-downgrade-fr...

    They point to these drivers

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us & dlc = in & lc = in & product = 5273735 & task = &

I think I could use these drivers, but I need just in case where. I guess they should work as the product names are roughly similar (with mine).

    3. is it possible to Secure Boot with Windows 7 SP1?

I have no research on this so far.

Thanks for the help that someone in the community can give to me, it is not important all the problems that I have set in I can still do research on questions 2 and 3 and help others with my research if I can do it before a response. Any info you can give me will be too great.

    Carlos

    (1) ' secure Boot' must be DISABLED and 'Legacy Support' must be ENABLED to install Windows 7 and many other older operating systems. The bootable media must support UEFI boot to install on a GPT-partitioned drive.

You let people with DISABILITIES 'Secure Boot' (and 'Legacy Support' ENABLED) once you have installed Windows 7. Changing these options causes Windows 7 to start is no longer.

    (2) the Windows 7 drivers on the CTO Entertainment Notebook PC drivers HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 page you referenced, will work on your computer.

    (3) it is not possible to install or use Windows 7 with "Secure Boot" ACTIVE.

    WARNING *.

HP does not recommend installing Windows 7 on a consumer computer comes with Windows 8, and it will support the installation of Windows 7. HP cannot provide the drivers for Windows 7 and the appropriate drivers are not available for the hardware in the computer. In addition, Windows 7 can not take in charge some of the hardware or software designed for the computer.

Make sure you create your media recovery HP or USB Flash Recovery discs before you edit or change anything.

You will need to DISABLE 'Secure Boot' and ENABLE 'Legacy Support' in the 'Configuration of the BIOS start-up secured' on the page parameters below, until you try to install Windows 7.

In addition, as the hard drive is probably partitioned as TPG, you must start the computer by using the "UEFI - CD/DVD drive" or "UEFI - USB Flash drive" options in the boot menu "F9". If "UEFI - CD/DVD drive", "UEFI - USB Flash drive" or something to that effect does not exist in the start menu, please post a screenshot and/or make startup listed options.

I suggest using Windows 7 SP1 for the best installation experience. If you need Windows SP1, see 'How to install Windows 7 without the disc' to download and create your own disc of Windows 7 SP1. If the DVD does not start as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (can ask "Quick start" DISABLING in BIOS) as the installation media. Please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash drive. Please note that some computers may not recognize a valid active UEFI USB Flash drive if it is formatted in NTFS and may require only a FAT32 formatted USB Flash drive. You should be able to make a FAT32 formatted Windows 7 installation USB Flash drive using Rufus, UNetbootin, Universal USB Installeror WiNToBootic. I like Rufus, because it contains options for 'Plan of GPT partition for UEFI computer' and 'FAT32'.

If you have missing or unknown devices after installing the drivers, please post to the "Hardware ID" Device Manager (just the text string will do) to these devices as shown in the example below.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Please click the 'Thumbs Up' white LAURELS to show your appreciation

    Hello here is my problem,

I bought an older Portegre M400 E, without a HARD drive. So I buy a new Samsung 400 GB. I looked in the Bios (ACPI BIOS Version 3.40) and it is ok. He shows me the HARD drive with built in Assign LD - 0 status ONLINE, 400 GB size so it seems to be nice. Changed the matrix Raid, described in the manual, in condition to create 1Raid-0
So, I want to boot from the Windows XP CD, not recovering my own.

Windows open to the top and after a short period, the installation ends with the message that it is not any HARD drive. This I try sometimes :-( Hope someone can help me.

I don't know much about your model, but I think that something wrong with the raid in the Bios settings. What other options are available in the Bios for the State of the hard drive? I found the RAID driver on the Toshiba driver page. It is possible, that you can integrate in with a program called nlite Windows installation disc or install Windows as in compatibility mode, and install the Raid driver. then

  • Satellite P300 - how to install Windows 7 64 bit?

    Hello

I had a Toshiba Windows 7 upgrade for my P300 which was under Vista 32 bit. During installation, asked me if I wanted to install 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7 and I chose 32-bit. Installation worked fine.

Now (moths later) I decided that I would like to install the 64-bit version instead. I have an own (custom) settled by booting from the DVD, but it don't did me not option for the moment and all re-installed Windows 7 32 bit. I know that the 64-bit version is on the DVD (there is a folder for it) - how to start from the DVD and have it install the 64 bit version?
I didn't format the drive when you perform the clean installation - if I do that it will give me the option?

    Thank you
    Ben.

    Great news, mate! :)

Thank you for this feedback. I'll test it on my Satellite P300 I want to upgrade to Windows 7 too.

In addition, an upgrade is possible to the same version: This means that Vista 32 bit can only be upgraded to 32-bit Windows 7. On 64 bit it s the same ;)
