Install XP Home genuine
A colleague wants to buy a legitimate copy of XP Pro and install it on his office computer. Is this best done by uninstalling the non-genuine copy and then everything just by installing a new or a new will drive too old?
Thank you
Hello
In my opinion your colleague must use the format option when the installation process starts. I also recommend you create two partitions (also possible with the CD of facilities). One will be used for the OS itself, applications installation and personal configuration. The other can be used for backup and saving data.
If there is a problem with the OS, it may be preinstalled on the first a second one will be untouchable and all data will be there.
If you need more advice please write again.
Good bye

I try to install XP Home Edition on Windows 7
Hello, I've been everywhere trying to solve the problem below and hope you can help me.
I have a HP Pavilion Elite - HPE 180 t - Win 7 64 bit OS.
System Info 9 physical memory GB - memory Modules 5 - video Card1.8GB GeForct NVIDIA GTX 260 (2 DVI, HDMI and VGA adapters) - Intel(R) Core (TM) i7 CPU 950 @3. 07 GHz - 8 GB of SDRAM DDR3-1 066 MHz (4 DIMMs) - 1 HDD 1 TB 7200 RPM SATA 3 Gb/s.
Problem: I don't want Windows 7 and I try to install XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2 - Full Version/CD ROM. I put the disc in and the installation option is grayed out. What should I do to prepare my system to accept the installation? I have my backed up system. If I erased my hard drive would that work? Is it possible to install over Win 7 or have two operating systems installed? I've seen advise to set the BIOS but cannot figure out how to display the screen upward at the start. I looked in the manual of HP and do not find the information.
Any direction is most appreciated.
Thank you

Hello
Windows XP is an operating system not supported and XP installation may void your warranty.
If you want to continue using XP, I would make sure that create you HP recovery discs before you start anything. Wipe the hard drive should allow you to install XP. I don't know what are the options you have the disk to install XP but I get an advanced option and try a Dual Boot or install double if you want to run two operating systems. To help you, do a search for "dual boot windows 7 and XP" or something similar and browse the results.

I recently did a clean install with the disc that came with my Dell XPS6400 (bought in the auction) local computer, which had only "Vista 32bits" written on it and no product key. I thought I could use the key on the sticker on the underside of the computer OEM license, even if the 2 characters in the 3rd section were partially missing - they had to be one of the other four. When OEM license was initially considered valid, I realized that I had not yet downloaded a service pack, but after that, he was still to come as being invalid! Then, I found that the version of Vista that was on the disc was "Home Premium" and the OEM for "Home Basic" license key Do I have to reinstall the whole system, drivers, etc., in order to establish the upgrade? (Please say "NO", there is an easier way to do this! Here's the MGADiag. -I hope it helps. :-}

Reinstall the correct Systyem, Windows Home Edition basic operation to use this product key.
And Microsoft sells more than Vista.
To reinstall Vista Home Basic read this information.
You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.
They should do this for a small fee.
And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought, not that one 32-bit, vista, your computer must be on the hard drive to reinstall recovery Partition Vista to how you bought your computer, which may or may not work after the installation of the wrong edition.
The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)
Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.
Ask them to the proper key sequence.
Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.
If this happens, you may need to try this instead:
You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.
Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.
And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Can I install Vista Home Premium with my product key?
I have Toshiba Satellite A300-146, model No.: PSAJ0E, 1 GB RAM, Intel Dual core 1.87 processor, chipset Mobile Intel (r) 965 family with * vista home premium *...
But it's in the recovery disk... If I install it, my hard drive will be formatted and become the only partition...
If I install the vista Home premium (downloaded from the internet) and enter my laptop product key, * is it make real *... ?Hello
To be honest, I don't understand what your question is.
Why you want to install downloaded Vista Home Premium if you already have one with your laptop?Recovery image is complete with all the drivers, tools and utility, but if you install OS naked, then you have lots to installing of all Toshiba stuff in the hope, everything will be OK.
Installation of recovery can be done on two tracks:Help of created recovery DVD *.
In this case the whole HARD disk will be formatted and all your data will be gone, but you certainly get it with two partitions. Folder HDDRecovery there again on the second partition.* Using the recovery disk (F8) procedure *.
If you do this just first partition (C) is deleted. All the data on the second partition will be there again. So please let me know what is your problem exactly and what you want to do.

Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

For what is interesting, what I ended up doing to solve my problems was to re - install Vista with the 'upgrade' option, so I don't lose any of my files or desktop settings...
After that, I had a few problems with my OS reinstalled with several (80 +) updates, SP1 and SP2 from catching up. But overall these problems were minor compared to it, that I lived just to fix some missing files.

CLEAN INSTALL XP HOME: PROBLEM, STOP NORMAL LOADING
I'm doing a clean install of XP Home Edition on my desktop which had equipped the new XP and works now very slowly (2 years or almost since a clean installation by an engineer). The entire system was backed up on an external hard drive. Avast has been turned off. I'm following "perform a new installation of Windows XP" as found on windows.xpl.tripod.com. The installation disc is the original hologram MS, one of the desktop PC machine, loaded in the CD-ROM drive (CD / DVD:SM - BENQ) and I see ' what do you do? I also have a BENQ RW drive. Then I start and find that I need to press F11 for boot device menu. 1st floppy drive, disk HARD etc. are available. Highlight CD / DVD:SM - BENQ DVD-ROM 16 X and press ENTER. I see "press any key to boot from the CD-ROM. Pressing space bar, delete etc. as lightning right now, it seems (even pressing fast and often before him appear in words) has failed after several attempts. The system simply loads Windows normally. I tried F2 at initial start-up, went to START the configuration utility and choose the BENQ SM for the 1st Boot device, do F10 to save and exit. You press ENTER to accept OK. You press F11, highlighted once more the SM-BENQ and press ENTER. Yet once «press a key...» "is displayed. Key g tried and various other attempts. I do not see "Set up Windows XP", Windows loads just normally.
Is there another "no" button I can press to stop the normal load?
Is there another method to achieve the goal?
I assume you are using resolution 3 in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
It is not guaranteed that the upperfilters and lowerfilters will be present. Just delete what is available and it should fix the problem.
