Installation Guide of Oracle database for a development environment

Hello

I work with Oracle JDeveloper, webcenter application development. For some applications I need also a database with the schema webcenter, so I installed oracle 11g (standard edition I believe), using in the documentation installation guides. However, it takes many victims my system resources, making it much to my system slow. I'm looking for a guide on how to install a db oracle for purposes of development, using the least resources. Anyone know if such a guide exists?

I'm using CentOS linux.

Thank you

I recommend that you give a test Oracle 10 g XE XE installation is very easy (you get and a database at the same time): http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25329_01/doc/appdev.102/b25320/getstart.htm#BEHFFBHB
and does not require a lot of resources.

You should be able to install Oracle XE on centOS because Oracle XE can be installed on Red Hat:
http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B25329_01/doc/install.102/b25144/TOC.htm#BABDHJHB.

  • Oracle Database 11 g Linux dependencies

I'm going to install Oracle Enterprise Edition 11 g 2 today on a server that I have in my office. The idea is to understand and become familiar with Oracle 11g and the RDBMS in general. As I review the documentation for installation under Linux, there is a section entitled "^"BOLD"^ 2 requirements pre-installation of the Oracle database ^"BOLD"^", I'm confused about whether I do or that you do NOT need a GUI to install Oracle 11 g 2. I play a 'minimum' Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8 (64-bit) Setup so there is no desktop environment such as Gnome or KDE on this server. I don't want to keep unnecessary packages and libraries for a graphical interface which will be never seen / used.

Can someone tell me short and sweet it is possible / acceptable / normal to install Oracle Enterprise Edition 11 g 2 on a Linux server that can perform at the runtime level '3', which is the command line only, and do not install any GUI / Windows X packages?

You can perform an installation in silent mode using answer files - no GUI is necessary - see this link from the same guide installation including the link you posted above - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24321/app_nonint.htm#BABFEECI

You must install the oracle first software and then run DBCA. Once you have installed the oracle software, you can only listener of Crete using netca. Check your init.ora file (must be placed under)

Yes, I see that you calculate trial and not a trial PaaS.

For a PaaS trial, go to https://cloud.oracle.com/database

Hit so he touches and then sign up for an account PaaS. During registration, do not select the drop down which contains the BRUTE to CALCULATE value.

This should give you a trial PaaS.

With shared server, you have the following resources imprint.

You need one or more dispatcher processes. They will be processes that deal with the real client connections. Each such process will be a physical process on Linux/Unix, or a thread on Windows.

You need one or more shared server processes. They will be the process that the service of the customer requests. A shared server process can only service application for a single client at a time. But during his life, he can serve many different customers. Each such process will be a physical process on Linux/Unix, or a thread on Windows.

You must keep state data (called UGA or User Global Area) for each client connection. With a dedicated server, the UGA resides inside the memory of the server process. Shared server cannot have the UGA but they need to deal with a number of different clients over a lifetime and so a number of different UGAs.

In addition, 1 shared server can process with your 1st request SQL (and the need to use UGA your connection), and when you run your 2nd SQL a few minutes later, shared 5 server needs to use your UGA.

So the UGA must be shared - and this is why it is stored in the SGA of the Oracle instance.

And this is in short the resource footprint, you need for shared servers.

Keep in mind that a shared server can only service application for a single client at a time. A customer who has a complex query will be shared care for awhile and keep him from answering other customers. It would be ' + selfish + "customer - and such a client must use its own dedicated instead server connection instead. Generally - OLTP queries are ideal for shared servers (because they lack the length) and type OLAP applications are best for dedicated servers (because these are complex and slow to do).

If you want more details on this point - there are many sources available. I suggest you first to the Oracle documentation through (http://tahiti.oracle.com), front of Googling the web for resources.

  • 11R2 Oracle in HP - UX cluster environment

    Hi Alessandro,.

First of all, I guess you want to create the environment of high availability and have Oracle running in active/passive mode data.

There are a few assumptions, you should take care of that:
    0. do you have a binary Oracle installed on both servers.
    1. do you have a virtual IP address that will serve as the database and LISTENER configured to run on it.
    2. have you shared storage, few options here: filesystem for Cluster (CFS), shared LVM or ASM.
    3. do you have an HP ServiceGuard 11.19 installed on both servers.
    4. build a ServiceGuard cluster between the two servers.
5 create a package and configure it to run the Oracle database, it's database, the name of the listener, oracle asm home home and so on.
    6. something that must be done manually: copy pwd {SID} .ora, create .ora init {SID} file to point to the SPFILE, create directories of dump. The same applies if used ASM.

Basically, these are the steps major and mandatory to have a package of SG running with Oracle Database 11 g.

BTW. Was thought to describe the procedure and display it on the web, I was not sure if there will be a hearing. Now I see that it would be a good idea.

    Kind regards
