Installation of a new HDD in the Satellite 4320 Pro, advice?

I need a new HARD drive in my baby, his old HDD is clicking and whirring and apparently not in good health, more since I installed Windows XP with service pack 2 I can no longer hold my programs on the tiny 6 GB thing!

I was wondering if you wonderful people out there can help me by answering my questions:

1. is there a limit on the size of the HARD drive that my ' 4320 Pro can take, if there is a limit (for example, 10 GB) so can I upgrade the BIOS to allow for a more generous size (say 40-80 GB)?

2. is it difficult to remove the old HDD and then put the new? Has anyone else done this procedure before? Should I take my baby into pieces? I installed the new memory before and had no problem :), it was very easy it will be that easy?

3. What is the depth of the original 6 gb 2.5 "HDD in my little girl? The replacement of all them seem to 9.5 mm deep will take a kind of foam spacer if for example my old HDD to 12 mm?

4. Finally someone noticed problems once they have installed a new HDD on there Sat Pro?

Thank you in advanced for your wisdom.

:)

Hi Stu,

In response to your questions: -.

1. most computers manufactured since the end of the 1990s can accommodate the larger discs, I found several supplies citing disks > 40 GB for your model. Any restrictions imposed by your BIOS could be corrected.

2. remove the HARD drive is relatively simple and will generally involve nothing undo more than a few screws. Most hard disks are held in a caddy of some kinds and this will have to be transferred to your new drive. You must locate your current HARD drive (it must be under a Panel on the side or your laptop. Note that some models locate the HARD disk in the optical drive, so you may need to remove this first.

3 hard drives usually come in two sizes, 2.5 "and 3.5", this refers to the width of the player. the real depth is largely irrelevant, since it will be held in a caddy. You certainly should not wrap the reader with the foam.

4. I replaced my drive HARD original with an 80 GB version. The process took less than 10 minutes, and then I just rebuilt my system from the product recovery discs before restoring my data on a backup CD.

  • 8 issues of the new owner of the Satellite Pro L300

    Hello to all forum users!

I bought a new Toshiba, the Satellite Pro L300 laptop and have until January 14 to test - if it looks like it is not working properly I will return it to the store where I bought it.

Here is a list of questions I have:

    1. whenever I turn on the laptop or it is suspension or hibernation mode, and when I disable it, the cd/dvd drive makes a clumsy mechanical noise.

It seems to me like the cart that transports the laser and optics is running in a mechanical stop.

    Is this normal?

    2. There is a hot sub-pixel on the screen (in blue) and according to the Toshiba info in the box, this is normal and does not return.

    Should I worry about this?

    3. when I run the test memory at the start of the system, she says she'll start windows automatically at the end of the trial and show me the results of the test.

It performs the test, Vista boot, but I see no reports of results.

Where can I find the report?
Is there a known issue with this test?

    4. the service program Toshiba to perform diagnostics of slot Vista does not work. Whenever I run the test (PCdiag.exe) I get an error message Vista saying a defect was found in the KERNEL32.dll module.

Where can I get a fix for this?
I have already installed the updated files on the Toshiba web site for the "Value Pack", which is where this utility, but still not the error message.

    5. I want access the settings of the bios at startup, but have not found a way to do it again.
F2 gives me a menu for memory test or normal boot system.
ESC is not me in bios Setup either.
There is a utility for bios Toshiba that I can run Vista, and I see that any upgrade bios firmware should also be done through Vista.

Is there a way to access bios at startup?

    6. I would like to run XP on this system and realized that this model (Pro L300 PSLB1E) is compatible XP, and I should be able to download all the drivers from Toshiba to run under XP.

    Does anyone do this?

    7. the laptop and configured Vista Basic when I did the first power on, but the license sticker on the bottom of the laptop has a product key for "Vista OEMAct Business." I was captivated by this laptop as the option to revert to XP Pro with Vista business. The box did not come with any CD or DVD and no manuals explaining how to install Vista Business.

This is reason enough to return the laptop in the store where I bought it, which is a chore, I prefer to avoid if I can install Vista Business.

Can someone help me understand what is happening here?

    8. is there a way to contact technical support by e-mail?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer all of these questions!

    Hello

Two weeks ago, I worked several days on friends Satellite Pro L300. Your questions are interesting and I will try to provide an answer or comment.

1 this is normal behavior. I noticed it on other models of computer laptop too. Right now I use Satellite P200D and I noticed the same thing.

    2. of course, you may have noticed a dead on the screen pixel and more on what you can read on

    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/FAQ8702EI0000R01.htm

    3. maybe follow links can help a better understanding:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial146.html

    4. what to say about this? I t has not noticed this error and I can recommend just reinstall full VAP. Remove preinstalled system, restart your computer and install the latest version of the Toshiba download page.

    5. When you start the laptop downstairs you can find info how to enter the BIOS settings. It usually takes F2. I really don't understand what is wrong in your case, but must work F2. Press immediately after turning on your laptop. Press several times. You have to work

    6. If you can find the download page of drivers, tools and utilities on Toshiba Windows XP Home edition, you should be able to install and configure Windows XP Home edition on this model of laptop. For the installation of Windows XP edition family please use Windows XP SP2 home edition.

    7. This must be clarified with your local dealer. The fact is that Toshiba doesn t offer any CD/DVD and recovery DVDs must be created by the owner of the laptop. I presume that you didn t seen or read Toshiba reminder about it. This point explains exactly what needs to be done.
The recovery media can be created using the preinstalled Toshiba Recovery creator. The shortcut is placed on the desktop.

    8. I'm afraid, you must contact the hotline, but as far as I know Toshiba's toll-free hotline.
Call and ask if there is something you want to know.

    Good luck!

  • Recovery disk installs but says can't install the satellite A100 - 02L

Hi, I'm new to this so any help greatly appreciated.

I have an Equium A100 02 L model PSAAQE OOPOOKAV
The hard drive failed completely, so I bought a new hard drive and installed, then used the Toshiba Windows Vista recovery Disc... all good so far!

Once the installation is completed without error along the way, the laptop restarts and starts windows during the initial installation of windows I get an error message saying 'installation of windows could not configure windows to run on a hardware on this computer "...

I tried to reinstall in case it was a problem but same thing every time... all the advice and help please

Have you used the recovery disc right out for the Equium A100 PSAAQE?
Make sure that you have used the right disc because the image on the disc also contains the drivers and if the pilots would be not compatible with the laptop, the system would crash.

    Hello

Clichés or pagefile are shadow copies of Volume that allow previous versions of files to restore.
This feature allows users to navigate back to a previous version of a file that has been changed or deleted.
This feature has been added to Vista and it s a part of the restoration of the system. You may initially Windows XP operating system.

If you want to disable please see this page:
    http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/07/01/disable-and-turn-off-system-restore-shadow-copy-in-Windows-Vista/

  • Replacement of the HDD on the Satellite A60

I have an old Toshiba Satellite A60. The old 30 GB Toshiba HDD (MK3025GAS) died. I bought a 60 GB Toshiba HDD (MK602GAX) as a replacement.

My problem is that I can't get the bios to see the new drive and start with it. "For the old disk bios dead says under ' built in HDD = Primary IDE (1F0H/IRQ14). With the new HARD drive it says "built on the disk HARD = No. Drive'."

Using a cd, I installed Ubuntu on the new HARD drive. The ubuntu installation cd sees the new HARD drive and allows me to format it and install Ubuntu. When the installation is complete, and I try to start Ubuntu, nothing happens, and the menu of the Bios still displays "built on the disk HARD = No. Drive'."

If I run Ubuntu from a cd I can 'explorer' 60 GB HARD drive and see all the installed files of Ubuntu. I can't boot the PC from the HARD disk or just to get the BIOS to recognize his presence.

I'm a bit confused and don't know what to do. Ideas anyone?

For me, this looks like a compatibility issue. Unfortunately there is no public document where we can find info on all compatible disks.
To be honest I m really wondering why the new HARD drive is not recognized correctly. Problem, is that you can not force laptop recognize each RAM or HARD drive.

    What to do now?
I put t think some update of the BIOS will help so I m afraid you must get a new or another HDD and test if it works or not.
I presume that this 60 GB HARD disk was not new, right?

I have Satellite L40-12 X with 5400 RPM 120 GB HARD drive and I would like to buy a new HARD drive, but I wonder if 500 GB at 7200 RPM will be compatible with my laptop?

You will not be able to find answers to these questions and Toshiba doesn't offer the database page or support for certain models of laptops with a list of all compatible parts.

  • Upgrade the HDD on the Satellite U200

3 months ago I bought a Toshiba SATELLITE PRO U200 Jarir Bookstore in Saudi Arabia and I now want to move the HDD of 80 GB to 160 GB.
However, I note that 1.46 GB the drive hard EISA is partitioned and is not assigned a drive letter. I guess that's the operating system or something like the laptop came preloaded with Windows Vista Business.
I have the DVD of restoration and would normally just mount the new drive and boot from the DVD following the same procedure as a normal PC. But I can't copy the EISA partition on the new disk. How to pass on the new disk?

    Hello

Why not to duplicate the entire HARD drive on the new. There are enough programs fulfil-> www.ubcd4win.com.

Otherwise just install your new HARD drive in your machine, perform a restore of the system on your new HARD drive, copy your files on it and that's all. Don t worry about the partition, if it s on your old HARD drive and restoring the system should probably create it on the new hard drive.

You won´t know until you've tried it. :)

Please give some feedback after your restored your system, would be interesting to know if the recovery has created a new partition "EISA".

    Welcome them

  • Replacement of HDD on the Satellite A100-644

    I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-644 (PSAA8E-077017DU model number), I bought it in 2006.
I think it's a fair time length that has passed, so I think the replacement of the hard drive now. I want to about 120 GB
Can someone tell me where to find the specs for the new HD tech so that I make sure that I have buy the right thing?
    Thanks in advance
    Yamil
    (Amsterdam)

According to specification for laptop, your laptop's SATA HDD inside. So everything you need to do is to buy a SATA HDD.
Theoretically, you can use more HARD drive capacity of 120 GB.
I have updated more older M70 with 250 GB SATA HDD and everything was OK.

So, check prices and buy new HARD drive. I recommend one with 200 GB. It should be enough, isn t it?

    Hello

I'm 99.9% sure that you can use this disk, but in my opinion you should spend it with HARD drive with more capacity. I think 200 or even 250 GB should work just fine with your laptop satellite.

I know that European Satellite A200 is supported up to 250 GB HDD.
