Installation of a separate install Clean bootable your OS Vista on another partition or drive.

Installation of a separate bootable 'Clean Install' of my Vista operating system on another partition or drive.

I want to end up with two installations of my Vista operating system startup:

1. a Vista bootable installation would be just the current which is functional and has many programs installed etc...

2. the second installation of Vista would be another partition (another reader would be OK too). It would be a place clean, fresh install any program or data and not of parameters that would be present if it was the first Virgin installation.

3 on boot-up, only two facilities operating system Vista would be active - one chosen by the user at boot time.

Is this possible? What license issues/costs should apply?

jwcrim

2. install Vista requires 2 licenses of Vista.

Microsoft sells more than Vista.

For the price, check online: Newegg, Amazon, etc.

Or try your local computer repair shop.

See you soon.

Simply choose a custom installation and choose another location to a folder on your secondary drive. just be aware that some components such as the activation system and other shared stuff will be always installed on C:\, whatever happens. You are lgoing stil to lose at least 1 GB on your SSD.

  • Re-install (clean install) Windows Vista Home Premium with no installation disc

I have a laptop that is running Windows Vista. I would like to wipe the drive and reinstall Vista. The computer came preloaded with Vista and did not include the operating system installation diskettes. How would I be able to get the Vista installation diskettes? My computer is an Acer Aspire 5100. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit (SP2).

    Hello

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact Acer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a fee if they are still available.

    http://us-store.Acer.com/RCD/

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

With an Acer, it's "left Alt + F10 at startup".

"How do I restore my computer using the eRecovery Management program outside of Windows?

    http://Acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/A_ID/2631

And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

See programs > Acer > then their eRecovery software stars for them.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

  • Backup the files when you are installing 'clean' (Vista to 8.1)

    Hello

I am upgrading to windows vista using a DVD 8.1. I understand that I have to perform a clean installation, which does not save my files or installed programs. I have not currently external storage capacity to back up all my files (around 50 GB).

Is it possible to back up my files in a 'safe' place on the hard drive of my computer?
or did anyone know of an internet service that I could use?

    Thank you

    Hello

You do not save the data in the same hard disk you want to upgrade an operating system on.

External hard disks very cheap to buy these days

    See if this helps you:

"Upgrading to Windows 8.1 of Windows Vista or Windows XP"

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/upgrade-from-Windows-Vista-XP-tutorial

    Back up your data

Since you will not be able to keep all the files, settings or programs when you upgrade to Windows Vista or Windows XP, we recommend that you back up all the files and locate any record program installation (or purchase confirmation email) before the update.

You can transfer files before upgrade you by copying them to an external hard drive, Flash DRIVE or CD and then moving them to the desired location on your new PC. Remember that the drive or disc has enough space to contain all that you want to move. If do not want to use an external hard drive, Flash DRIVE or CD, you can move your files to OneDrive to have all of your files in one place and have the latest version on your PC. For more information, see getting started with OneDrive.

  • Cannot install the update for Windows vista (KB2718704) a safe mode or after clean window reboot

I can't install the update for Windows vista (KB2718704), a mode without failure or after clean window reboot.

    What should I do?

    Hello

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    ·         You get the error message?

    ·         You are able to install other updates successfully?

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software .

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2: Put the computer in a clean boot State to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow step 7 the link to start the computer to a Normal startupmode.

Method 3: You can also manually install updates (KB number) by downloading from the Microsoft Download Center.

While trying to install updates for Adobe Reader (current version is 9.3) failure, asking me to run Adobe Reader repair.  Then tells me that Windows Installer is not correctly installed or does not.  This is a 64-bit of Windows Vista Dell computer.  The same error message also appears with MS Office updates.

We will try to repair Windows Installer (I guess it was properly aiinstalle at a time or you would have had a lot of problems other software installation).  We will try the Windows Installer Cleanup utility at:http://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Windows-Installer-CleanUp-Utility.shtml and see if that solves the problem.

If this does not work, what is the EXACT message you get on Windows Installer and when does it appear?  When the problem started?  Which version of Windows Installer you are using and which version has problems?  A new version has been installed recently, and it is this new version with the problem?  Which version of Vista you are using (for example, 32-bit Vista Business SP2)?  What are you installation requires Windows Installer, which causes this problem (name and version of the program)?

Clean installation Win7 Pro 32 bit WinXP Pro?

    HI -.

I am running Win XP Pro 32 bit on my laptop. I bought the laptop as well as a retinal camera. The company has half partitioned HD for photo capture, but I have never used for this purpose. My questions are:

1 do an install clean w / Win7 64 bit on this laptop? Or is it limited to runing 32 bit only OS?

    2. is there a Win7 Pro for laptops? I noticed on Best Buy description a (PC) listed after the name: Windows 7 Professional (PC).

    The upgrade to Windows XP?

Please read these instructions carefully and completely before you begin installing Windows 7: there are important steps that you must follow to upgrade your PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 in order to preserve your files and settings.

Before you begin, you'll need to backup all your data to an external storage device, and you will need all the installation discs for the programs that you want to keep. Please make sure that you have an external hard drive (see details below).

More detailed instructions are available at windows.microsoft.com/upgrade-windows-xp. Here are the basic steps.

    1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor (windows.microsoft.com/upgradeadvisor) to see if there are known issues that may affect the installation and the question of whether you should install the version of 32 or 64 bit Windows 7.

2 back up your files and settings on an external hard drive using Windows Easy Transfer (windows.microsoft.com/windows-easy-transfer). If you do not have an external hard drive, you will not be able to use Windows Easy Transfer. Alternatively, you can copy the files you want to keep on a USB stick, CD or DVD.

    3. you will need to manually reinstall your programs, such as Microsoft Office, after I installed Windows 7. Gather the installation for your programs and all partner/license product key discs. You may be able to download programs from the Internet. For example, Windows Live Messenger can be installed from the download.live.com/messenger.

    4. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in your PC. When asked "which type of installation you want. Click on "Custom (advanced)."

    5. when Windows 7 is installed, use Windows Easy Transfer to restore your files and settings.

If you are not comfortable Windows 7 installation, check with a local retail or the services of the PC company store to see if they offer upgrade services.
