Installation of new drives in a raid configuration

I use a mr10i and two drives RAID 1 raid controller.

I'll add an additionall two disks to the raid level 1.

What I need to know is: can I add the second set without having to completely erase the first two and set up a new configuration of raid.

as far as you add these two new drives additional independent RAID 1, you're fine - don't worry.

  • Adding 3rd drive but not RAID?

I have a TS200V with 2 x 250 GB drives in a RAID configuration. Can I add a separate 500 GB drive, but NOT add it to the controiller raid itself? As a standalone player? I'm new to RAID not too sure if this is possible. Or the question of whether the TS200V has same slots for additional disks.

Server does support RAID 0/1 only.

  • RAID 0 for a RAID configuration not "this computer's hardware may not supported booting from this drive.

I want to install a new HARD drive in a tower of the mine to a friend. It was initially created as a RAID 0 configuration with two 160 GB HDD. The replacement is a single 1 TB of HARD drive. I get the message "this computer's hardware may not supported booting to this disk.» Am I missing an approach from a RAID 0 for a RAID configuration, no?

    Hi RegularPencils,

I suggest that you check in the basic input/output system (BIOS), if you find an option to disable the RAID. If you find, disable the RAID and try to install Windows vista, check if it helps.

Important: Change (CMOS) BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

  • How do I know which drive size for a RAID configuration

    Hello

I'm a beginner when it comes to PC built but am still learning.

I can't afford to not have reliable backups, so I would like to enter in a RAID configuration, and from what I've read, it will be either a RAID 5 or RAID 3.

If I want a strong system, it seems that I should go for seven discs, as well as the C drive (according to generic directive of prejudice to article Disk Configuration: generic for the installation disc Directive)

Other than the C drive, do the same size and brand discs in all areas? If this is not the case, how do I know what size to get? What are the specific brands offer great value in 2014?

At the moment I have 240 gb C drive and 2x1To WD Caviar Black drives (media and projects on that, previews, media and on the other hand, the export cache). I also have a 2 TB WD Green backup drive.

I have a lot of threads have checked and still get my head around RAID configurations.

    Thank you for helping,

    Robert

For the largest raids of parity, records of business are the best. HGST Ultrastar, Seagate Constellation or WD RE.

As for the size, it depends on your storage needs. Provided that the controller has the necessary ports, you can always extend the table by adding more disks, more speed and more space.

  • 4540 proBook s: help to the New Installation of hard drive recovery

I had a bad hard drive crash. I installed a new and got the bios to boot from the cd drive, with windows 7

orginal cd of installation in the drive.  He acknowledged drive 0, I clicked again in the options. He created a system partition.

Installed windows 7 apparently very well. Inserted the recovery driver and application and installed disk. Everything seemed fine. This morning I turned it on and it the hard drive error (3F0) Please install an operating system. I shut it down and restarted, it seemed normal.  I installed a few programs, stop it again. Returned by, it starts again and it took me to screen diagnosis saying SMART Check - not installed and short DST - not installed...  Can someone tell me how to remove that partition and I can format the drive in a usb sata enclosure and try again.

Please tell me the correct procedure to return this laptop running to a factory State. I have the original Windows7 and Windows8, Driver and Application for the two OS disks ' are...  I want to stay with the installation Windows7.

Thanks for any help on this problem. I have no idea where I was wrong!

It is not impossible that the new disk is bad, have seen before. It is also possible that the controller sata on the motherboard is bad, but I'd watch this last possibility. You can get an Exchange on the new hard drive?

  • drives no raid after installing a new hard drive, deleted a raid volume.

I recently installed a new hard drive on a dimension 9200. One of the two hard drives in the pc has been a failure. After installing a new drive, I had a working old drive and a new drive, I installed vista on the new drive and found I couldn't see the old drive in the computer, also the raid volume was always the same that before removing one of the old disks. After you delete the raid volume, I have now two non-raid drives. My pc would be better if I change those two to a Raid volume as were the two previous albums, and if yes, how can I do.

  • Why force Adobe installs their new Flash drive when it is originally from the browsers play not video?

Why force Adobe installs their new Flash drive on billions of computers when it is causing so many browsers only play video?

I had installed the Flash Player 11.2.202.228 28/03/2012 and it worked very well, unlike some of the previous Flash players in several web browsers, so I chose NOT to install a new actors Flash that came after that, all based on experience.

But last Friday, 22/06/2012, I received a new message to install Adobe Flash Player that came in my office for the new Flash Player v 11.3.300.262 and I chose NOT to install it for the reason I said above... and the look now at all the problems this new Flash player has caused for so many people.

Now I see glancing at my Add-ons Manager in my Firefox browser, and in my program Panel of Windows 7 in the control panel that the stupid new Flash Player v 11.3.300.262 has been INSTALLED FORCE behind my back, even if I don't install certainly NOT it and I deleted the installation Panel when he came to my office on Friday.

And now no videos or content Flash will not play in my Firefox browser! Good job Adobe!

What is the Adobe problem?... why you require the software on our computers that obviously was not installed by the user, and then screw it to the top of our computers.

How to explain something like that?

Now, I have to troubleshoot it and try to install my old Flash Player.

    Why?

Having click on classic view on the left side of the Control Panel window, which should show all of the icons and allow him to see the Flash Player icon.  The alternative is to type 'flash player' in the control panel search box which should be also.

Note also that change the auto update to "notify me to install updates" will only delay the process of 30 days.  After 30 days, the update will be installed automatically.  You can completely disable this by changing it to "never check", but I would certainly recommend against that.

Thanks for all that help someone can provide.

    Jim Lewis

You can turn it off in two ways.

    1. launch the application of CC and select help > Sign Out (Adobe ID)

For CS6 apps select help > deactivate

    2. go cloud creative preferences and in the tab "Général" click on 'Account' and click on the button "Sign Out of Creative cloud."

    Note:

It turns off all the applications associated with your Adobe ID, installed on the same machine.

  • HP ENVY 750-170se: cannot access the RAID configuration via Ctrl + i on startup

I activated the RAID in BIOS > Storage Options > SATA emulations.

There are 2 drives HARD correspondents attached to the SATA 2 ports & 3.

At startup the Intel Rapid Storage screen shows the two discs. It shows the prompt to hit "Ctrl + I" to enter setup.

However: when I hit, stand or mash Ctrl + I, before, during and after the screen from the IRS, it never penetrates RAID installation.

What keeps me to enter RAID configuration menu?

Is there some SATA ports I need the HARD drive to be attached to the?

Motherboard is the model 2B4B, verson A0.11 BIOS

Based on this post I tried to use Intel Rapid Storage to make the RAID. TSRI was not installed/available in Windows so I donwloaded it... during the installation I was told there was a newer version already installed (which is weird because I couldn't access it).

TSRI in Windows made the RAID volume. No need to enter during POST/boot.
