Installation of the automatic update continuously restarts the computer

Has been notified of an automatic update, so I clicked on install.  An update was IE8.  Don't know what the other was.

At one point, the update indicated that it needed to restart the computer to complete the update.
Computer turns off and when he started upward, the following text appeared:

Configuring updates stage 3 of 3 0% complete
Do not turn off your computer

It remained for about 5-10 seconds while the computer off.
It's now an infinite loop which he can't seem to escape.

I tried to reboot in safe mode and command mode prompt secure, but it keeps on rebooting over and over again.  Update supposedly created a restore point, but I can't restore.

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/949358 does not work because the computer still restarts when starting in safe mode.

Now that?

Was able to borrow a Vista CD and get to a restore point. It seems that perhaps the only way to recover because no security Modes allowed Windows to come. Next computer will be Linux!

    Hello

The following article might be useful: How to troubleshoot Windows Update or Microsoft Update when you are repeatedly offered an update

  • Help the clean installation of Windows 7 Pro and using the GPO to run automatic updates and restart all night

I am trying to solve a problem that will probably require a new installation of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. The grace period ends in 3 days, and the next 30 days are final exams at the College. I have 2 licenses (and product key) of Windows 7 Pro, but my drive HARD goes wrong and I don't want to use MAK activation. I will be eventually to replace the disk, but is now bad timing.

If a reinstall is needed, I was going to ask if anyone knows how to set the strategy of perhaps a GPO where Windows is updated automatically in the background and after installing updates, 45 or 60 minutes, then restart. The goal would be to have a computer fully patched when I wake up in the morning.

    This is my plan:

Install Windows 7 Pro SP1 64 bit > Windows automatically updated and plug the Ethernet cable > define a GPO where the computer waiting for 45 to 60 minutes after installation of updates (so the msi may end in the background, and I do not interrupt the installation) > the PC will restart > more update swill be downloaded and installed > wait due to the policy of GPO before reboot > Reboot > do it until it's over. > wake up with a PC fully patched 7-9 hours later.

Is this a workable plan?, and if so, how do I define policies such as delay restarting, etc. to achieve?

The reset did not work. It would be a simple solution. I have a valid license, but I don't want to replace the HARD drive until after final exams are over, so I'll reinstall and activate. I try to achieve in the next 24 hours, so it doesn't keep me from my school work.  I must also support and will then replace my files.

Feel free to advanced used terminology. I have some experience.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

I did a system restore to run today.  He had updated 8 minutes before all this happened, but I couldn't say what update caused this.  It's important, so I guess that vista.  All of my Web site and software adobe software for forms and emails, files, photos, everything disappeared as if today, I bought the computer Office exccept was there, but empty. I have even been asked to set up an e-mail account.  I don't know how it happened with an update and cannot lose another day to such a waste of time. I work and am finishing my doctorate so the stability of my work being it is quite serious.  How this happened and how can I keep it doesn't happen. I backup to carbonite.com and have now checked, contacts, emails by the intermediary of today and all the files, but it's scarYYYYY!   I was never warned or the ability to restart or given in error messages.

  • I downloaded an update and restarted my computer, received the blue screen of death shortly after the computer restarts. Now it does not start

I don't know when the downloaded update, the computer has been restarted on September 10, 2010 to install updates. Shortlyl once the computer is restarted, I got the blue screen of death.  with the details of error like:

Stop 0 x 000000050 (0 x 000000000000000, 0xFFFFF88001DCAE4, 0xFFFFF8A00B490027, 0 x 00000000000002) do not know if the number of zeros is exactly right in one of those, but it's super frustrating.

I tried to restart my computer in repair as recommended (get blue screen of death), I tried to reboot normally, loop just restart procedures asking if I want to restart in repair mode.  I tried SafeMode (BSOD), I tried to restart with last working restart (restart loops), I tried to choose the "Computer repair" BSOD I tried a diagnosis and all past.

    Help!

    Thank you.

So yes actually hear nothing helped me.  Seems that, given that the computer is not stopped correctly and my hard drive was not recognized there starting the cycle upward or give me the BSOD.  Put it in my Ubuntu CD spare which I've had since my last PC hard drive became corrupt and force back across my hard drive.  After doing this, I was able to do a boot repair, who led for the BSOD.  Not sure how that actually fixed, lost about 10 hours of my day.  So I guess I can chalk up to Microsoft and a reminder on why I should buy Mac for now on... an update shouldn't really cause such problems.

I get that not everyone has the same PC, so it is difficult to tell if an update is bad, but he should not do this and if an update is the cause of a certain segment of consumers who are updating must be taken down for everyone, or at least the users with the configuration that is known to have problems with an update.

Problem is solved, had to go back to a previous version of good boot where I have not install updates again.  Now, I'm trying to understand who was was bad, so I can leave my computer knows to ignore.

    Nice day.

    Hi Michael,

If you experience problems after installing updates, you can read the following article and try the steps.

The update is not installed successfully, you receive a message, and the computer restarts when you try to install an update in Windows Vista and Windows 7

    Hope this information is useful.

The update is not installed successfully, you receive a message, and the computer restarts when you try to install an update in Windows Vista

When you try to install an update from Windows Update on a computer that is running Windows Vista, you may receive the following message: Configuring updates step 3 of 3. 0% complete
After you receive this message, the computer returns to the screen that displays the same message. In addition, the update is not installed successfully, and the computer restarts.

I guess that in this case, we can write about "Vista".

I noticed that my system stops working a lot since I downloaded that and many times I have to use the Task Manager to get out of a program.

    Hi Dianebe1,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers forum.
I would have recommended to do the following:

    STEP 1
    ------------
Download and install the latest version of Windows Installer
To install the latest Windows Installer, visit the Microsoft Web site at the following address:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=5A58B56F-60B6-4412-95B9-54D056D6F9F4&displaylang=en

    Step 2
    ------------
Cleanup, utility to download and install the Microsoft Windows CleanUp utility. To do this, see the Microsoft Web site: http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe

    Step 3
    ------------
Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

If you receive a message saying that the found sakhi corrutions copy the message and post back please.

  • How to upgrade KB911895 than my automatic update continues to send me. I get a code error 0 x 80070643

The automatic update sent two updates to do.  I tried several times and it comes up saying: filter (KB911895) did not pass tests Windows Logo to verify its compatibility with Windows XP.   So I went to Update.microsoft.com; Fix for the technical problems of Microsoft Update; and on a site that Microsoft told me to go, to get the last system update.  And a little more.  I don't care if it's updated, but I want that he stop sending me the update, where I have this yellow shield in the bottom right of my screen.  I don't know that always be there, if there is an update I have to do and every time I click on it to see... these two updates with the same titles developed.  Don't know what else to do.

I had my PC cleaned and passed by the technicians to Office Max and was also something they called "Push" is added in order to make my computer faster.  I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but it's the only different thing that was done to my computer in 2 or 3 years.

    Hello

You can run the fix it link and check if this may help: you receive the error 0 x 80070643, error code 0 x 643 or updates may be offered again when you try to install .NET Framework updates when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Updates: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976982

  • Change the installation location of automatic update

    Hello

First of all thanks for reading the post.

The problem that I am facing is that after that put in automatic day is over, they are installed to the C:\ drive but in drive F:\ which is empty and must be used for Linux.

The fact is that before I formatted my PC, updates have been installed to drive F:\ only. I don't want no other than the C:\ drive for Windows installations. Help, please.

Config. : Windows XP Pro SP2

    Kind regards

    xploreraj

By default, the installer will download to

    %windir%\SoftwareDistribution\Download<=this>

    (e.g. C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download)

Over time, the files in this folder will be 'age' & should be deleted automatically. Removal of the contents of this folder manually has no untoward effect (other than the fact that an installer will be downloaded again if you need to reinstall the update for some reason any).

Now, you download SP3 and all post-SP3 installed updates as soon as POSSIBLE. After you have done so, you can see this discussion: http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=33827

  • When I tried to re install Windows XP, I received an "unexpected error" at the end of the installation. The computer then restarts and it gives me the error again.

    Hello

I did a clean install on winxp pro, it ended by an "unexpected error", it will not install, shows me the error and restart try to reinstall and same error. I checked around and it could be due to the intallation disk which was scratched and unable to read the files (I tried the disk image and failed). I made a copy of the disc as soon as possible, but it is bootable. I tried putting in the cd copied, tried to locate the file but could not (don't kn OW the drive and folder).

Is there a way to make the copy bootable cd? (in my pc, I made a copy of the Setup disk) or is it all the same to overcome this obstacle?
