Automatic updates continue to not settle

I have windows vista Home premium on my computer. The following updates will not be installed.
Updates for windows live sign in Assistant (KB967912)
Updates for 2007 microsoft office systems (KB967742)

I have turned on automatic updates. Whenever I get ready to close, he's trying to install these updates. Also these days here in the middle of a program, I will get a mssage saying internet explore has stopped working and it closes the program. Are there problems with internet explorer 8. I noticed that my system stops working a lot since I downloaded that and many times I have to use the Task Manager to get out of a program.

Hi Dianebe1,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers forum.
I would have recommended to do the following:

STEP 1
------------
Download and install the latest version of Windows Installer
To install the latest Windows Installer, visit the Microsoft Web site at the following address:
http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=5A58B56F-60B6-4412-95B9-54D056D6F9F4&displaylang=en

Step 2
------------
Cleanup, utility to download and install the Microsoft Windows CleanUp utility. To do this, see the Microsoft Web site: http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe

Step 3
------------
Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
  2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

If you receive a message saying that the found sakhi corrutions copy the message and post back please.
