  • Installation of the VMware tools on PCLinuxOS comments

    Hi all

I started to play with VMware player (version 6.0.3). I made a new virtual machine and install PCLinuxOS on it. I now want to install VMware tools on this comment, so I click on the drive-> manage-> install VMware tools. However, nothing seems to happen, and I've waited more than an hour. When I click on the drive-> manage according to me, it is said (download VMware tools). The host and the VM guest have access to internet. Could be blocking download, or in any way I can solve the problem? Thank you very much for your help - J

You are running on Windows or Linux, VMware Player host? If you are running on the WIndows host, download the file: http://softwareupdate.vmware.com/cds/vmw-desktop/player/6.0.3/1895310/windows/packages/tools-linux-9.6.2.exe.tar

Extract the. EXE file and run it. EXE file on host it will silently install the ISO Images of VMware Tools in the working directory of VMware Player.

After that, try to reinstall the VMware Tools on VM, simply go to the menu player-> manage-> install VMware Tools.

  • Installation of the VMWare Tools on Fedora 18 (as a guest)

    Hi all

I am struggling to find a way to properly install Linux Fedora 18 as a guest computer tools in Windows XP host.

I managed to download the .exe and I learned, thanks to this forum, that a .iso is created in the right folder by running this program. I mounted the virtual disk in VMWare Player where I installed Fedora 18 and I extracted successfully the. tar.gz, that I placed in the folder "Download".

However, I have another question and I'm stuck because I can't find more help on this forum:

When I try to run ' vmware - install.pl ' through the terminal as root (by typing the following command: "sudo./vmware-install.pl" and my password), I get the following response "sudo: cannot run." ("/ vmware - install.pl: no such file or directory ').

I found in another forum that might be because I do not have law libraries to read the Pearl program, but I have not found which library should I download then.

I use VMWare Player 5.0.2 build-1031769 and I downloaded VMWare tools by following this link:http://softwareupdate.vmware.com/cds/vmw-desktop/player/5.0.2/1031769/windows/packages/tools-linux-9.2.3.exe.tar

I found this link in the following section: http://communities.vmware.com/message/2263344#2263344

Could you please help me solve this problem?

  • Prevent installation of the vmware tools

    Hello!

Is it possible to prevent the installation of VMWare tools when creating a new machine in the Workstation 6.5.1?

I want to test the OS which is absolutely clean and it seems that VMWare tools are installed automatically when you create the virtual OS ISO. This is quite annoying, because after installing the tools is no longer a "clean" image

As continuum wrote, under normal circumstances, the tools will get installed automaticall if you create a guest (some people like exactly that, and it is often asked here how to achieve this).

Source of your guests? Are they have cloned, installed costs or...?

    /etc/init.d/network stop

  • Exception of the kernel during the installation of the VMware Tools

I am running VMware Workstation v.7.0 under Slackware Linux 13 (Linux kernel v.2.6.29).

I have a guest Win95 OS installed without incident except for the cab file buslogic.mpd

that had to be installed by hand. However, when I then tried to install VMware

Tools (latest version) for this OS, I received this error MS

The Setup program: this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down

More information: SETUP caused an exception c06d007fh in module KERNEL32. DLL

    to 0137bff9a07c...

The Win95 operating system is installed from the OEM CD.

There was no VMware error as far as I could make out.

Anyone know what could be the cause of error, and what can

    be done about it?

    Thank you.

I saw that you could install the tools which is good, but you first need to know which version of windows 95, you have. The last a 4.00.950C?

Then, I would try to find all updates for what could be a problem because it is long not supported any more. Read a bit here: http://www.hpcfactor.com/support/patching/win95/

No chance of you get a Windows 98 version? Must perform better but still has the same problem that it has not supported by Microsoft for a long time now.

Verify that the checksum MD5 or SHA1 of the file windows.iso in the working directory of VMware Workstation is as indicated below.

For version windows.iso of VMware Tools file 9.2.2.894247:

    MD5 = 8d9a47fddf3988bb1fcb62bb21d3fa8f
    SHA1 = 6a55b0d276a3442589d6a4892fa8759e8ca42712

These values have been generated, based on the extracted windows.iso file of Tools-windows - 9.2.2.exe.tar should be the same one included in the WS 9.0.1 installed.  Note: The checksum SHA256 for the file windows-tools - 9.2.2.exe.tar has been verified against its value published prior to extraction.

  • Can I install the vmware tools on a HP Proliant 380 G5 with VMware ESXi 3.5 Installable U3 with HP management components?

    Hello, I have install ESXi 3.5 U3 on a Hp Proliant 380.

I have created a virtual machine to Windows 2003, and when I want to install VMWARE TOOLS from Vmware Infrastructure Client, it does not install on the virtual machine vmware tools. Nor has received all messages from a Client Infrastructure and neither of the virtual machine.

    Why could this happen?

    Thanks in advance

    NO.

The installation of vmware tools lies in an iso file, which is located on your host ESX itself and is mounted on the virtual machine when you click "install vmware tools".

Weather or not your host has a cdrom drive is not serious, you can always add a virtual cdrom drive to your guests and use iso files, or the cdrom drive on the PC that you are using the VI client from.

If you vm doesn't have a virtual cdrom drive, it can't mount the vmware tools iso, and you cannot install the vmware tools.

  • VMware Tools for Mac will not install bug.

Hello I have a clean install of Mac OS x 10.9 I raise in a virtual machine but when I bring the VMware Tools installed, get an error:

Cannot install VMware Tools on this disk.  VMware Tools requires Mac OS X 10.5 or higher.

    Screenshot attached.

I've tried versions both 6.0.1 and 6.0.2 darwin.iso for VMware Fusion. but the same error.   I wonder what VMware is actually audit to determine the versions of operating system.   I have in the past summer success install the same software on the same computer, but I have tried to reinstall from scratch (more than once) and tried many changes of setting on both hosts and guests with no joy.   Anyone know how to fix?

    Thank you.

who was happy to install VMware tools...

I'll tell you one last time...  When clean install OS X 10.9 Mavericks under VMware Fusion 6.0.2 VMware Tools are not automatically installed!

In addition, it turns out that the "internal" or "removable" made no difference that I was able to move the vmdk from SATA, SCSI (appears inside the system) but that made no difference either but has been tested

I have mentioned that the drive internal vs external because VMware Fusion before 6.0.2 has not created a good installer for OS X 10.9 Mavericks nor was it settled the case, and the fact that it was not properly installed may have been a contributing factor to the VMware Tools install problem not necessarily imply that the disk shows as external!

I wonder if there is another way to install VMware Tools manually?  I can see the directory structure exposed within the darwin.iso but don't know if I can cp

This straight out of the iso, but not being is not a Mac OSX expert... don't know if I can run alternate and no package installer idea what files are changed by install VMware Tools.

Still confident enough, I can work around the issue of the installer.

I just tested this on a clean build and with the help of pacifists opened the VMware Tools.pkg (Install VMware Tools.app/Contents/Resources/VMware Tools.pkg) in the bundle 'Install VMware Tools.app' on darwin.iso (VMware Tools for OS X) and "Selected files.pkg content" then clicked on install and check 'use administrator privileges '.  He basically just moved the files in places and then after that I restarted the computer virtual VMware Tools seem to work.  I tested VMware shared folders, copy & paste, drag & drop, and change the resolution of the screen... all seem to work fine, however it was simply intended as a test and not a recommended method to install VMware Tools and I don't know if it is essentially a complete installation.  I don't have the time now to analyze the two occurrences, one made appropriately and the other using pacifists to see if there is in fact no difference.

I was also going to take the vmdk to another platform and see if any difference (doubt it will be)

Any platform with not brand hardware Apple is a direct violation of the SLA products and may not be discussed in these forums!

  • 7 - fusion '3D Acceleration requires an update of the VMware tools in the Virtual Machine'

    Hello

I installed the free Fusion 7 trial this week on my iMac and subsequently installed Windows 8.

The resolution of the screen under Windows is very low compared to the Mac OS.

In addition, I have the warning message in the Windows display settings:

'3D acceleration requires an update of the VMware tools in the Virtual Machine'

I also note that the display driver in Windows is the display driver database with Microsoft.

A few weeks ago I installed version 6 of Fusion and it worked very well.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    John.

Take a look at the installation and the use of the VMware tools and more spicifically to manually install or upgrade VMware Tools in a Windows Virtual Machine.

If by chance, VMware Fusion is not properly mounting image VMware Tools windows.iso file then you have to do it manually.  It is located in "/ Applications/VMware Fusion.app/Contents/Library/isoimages/windows.iso" and will have to be copied, not moved, in a location that is accessible out of the bundle of VMware Fusion.app as the office.  If you need to do this, you can right click on the bundle of VMware Fusion.app see the content of the selection box and access its location to copy.  To assign the windows.iso on the CD/DVD image, take a look at: Connect and Set Up a CD/DVD Drive
