Installation of Vista on the new disk HARD of DVDs of resettlement

Hello!

Is it possible to use the reinstallation of Windows came with my Dell laptop DVD to install Windows on a new HARD drive for the same computer laptop?  I didn't upgrade the HARD drive of my laptop for something newer, bigger and faster, but I want to assure you that I will be able to use the reinstall DVD before investing in the new HARD drive.  I have not been able to develop a response straight yes or no from the comments I've seen online (something on the DVD works only with the original Dell hardware?).

Here's my laptop specs:

-Model: Dell XPS m1330

-Age: 4.5 years

-OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit (I have reinstallation DVD provided with the laptop - one marked "already installed on your computer" - as well as the Dell drivers and utilities CD)

-Material: All material is as I received Dell - I did Exchange something out.

Thanks in advance for your understanding!

Mariko

Resettlement is precisely what this DVD is for.  Dell offers a page of links to help owners restore their computers here: restore and reinstall Windows on a Dell computer.  For a blank hard drive, you must go to step 4: manual reinstallation.  Forum member Natakuc4 has written some pages with lots of additional information that might be useful, found here: install clean windows.

It is also possible to clone your existing HDD to shorten the time required to restore your computer, but with a laptop, need you also a shell of USB external hard drive.  I can't speak for all providers, but I know that Seagate and Western Digital offer a free version of Acronis True Image on their web pages to the owners of their hard drives.  This application allows you to transfer an image of your existing hard drive to a new hard drive in less than an hour (usually - depends on how much is on the discs).

  • Installation of Vista on the new hard drive was interrupted, and now I can not start the computer

So I decided that I need a bigger hard drive. I got a 500 GB hard drive, so I have it PLOPPED in my Acer Aspire 5517 with my vista boot drive, turned on and began to go through the process. Once he got to the phase 'installation complete' it seems to take a while, so I let it run all night. Once I got up, it was on a black screen with the mouse, I let stand a few more minutes but still nothing. I turned off and started it expects to find to return at the beginning of the installation, but instead he began to start from what is on the hard drive at this time. It got to the screen with the loading bar and the sign 'Microsoft Corporation'. The loading bar was very frigidity and stopped and started randomly. I let it do this while I went to school, but when I got home, it was always the same loading screen. I rebooted and tried to start in safe mode, but when I do it it stops at crcdisk.sys, and never forwarded charges. I tried to do the reset thing factory start it but that doesn't seem to work. My other puny hard drive still works, but the other does not. I searched the internet but have not seen any other problem like it. I want to just start completely clean of my new 500 GB. Please help!

    Hi James,

    1. What is the number of brand and model of the hard disk of 500 GB?

    2. How did the 500 GB hard drive connected to the computer? It is external or internal?

To troubleshoot the unable to start the issue to cause corrupted driver, some files that can not be loaded during the startup process must be fixed or restored. So, let's check the disk by using the Windows Recovery Console.

    (a) put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.

    (b) press a key when the message "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD ".

    (c) select a language, a time, a currency and a keyboard or another input method, and then click Next.

    (d) click on repair your computer.

    (e) (click on the operating system you want to repair), and then click Next.

    (f) in the System Recovery Options dialog box, click command prompt. Type chkdsk c:/f to try to correct the errors.

    (g) Note: answer them when chkdsk asks you if you want to check the disk next boot Vista

    (h) after the recording of the disc, and then run sfc/scannow to check the corruption of system files.

Important: when running chkdsk on the drive hard if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data may be lost.

Check out TechNet help links and check if that helps:

  • Installation of Vista on the new hard drive.

Recently, the hard drive (Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 750Go) in my HP Pavilion Elite M9350F Desktop has failed.

I replaced today by a Western Digital Caviar Green WD10EADX 1 TB harddrive.

After the removal of the old hard drive and the installation of the new, I tried to install Windows vista on it.

While in the window select a driver to install, I get this message

"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy, CD, DVD, or USB Flash Drive please insert it now. »

Followed by this error message when I perform a new crawl for drivers.

"No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK. »

I don't know what to do to fix this error.

I also ran a report diaognostics and the disk is healthy, but I get error BIOHD-3.

    * Note: I've already been on the Western Digital site and they describe it as either an error with the computer itself, or the hard drive has failed, which I do not have to be the case since I bought it today.

Two SATA drivers I posted above (from your page drivers)-choose which is right for your installation. One is for Vista 32 bit, the other is for Vista 64-bit. Use something like the free 7Zip to extract the files to a folder. Place the files on a flash drive and when the message arrives you need the driver cd/dvd insert the flash drive.

I didn't need or used this procedure personally, but it seemed to work for others.

  • Windows Vista install the new WD hard drive empty - does not not :(

It was my original question: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware/HP-Pavillion-a6645f-No-hard-drive-detected-BIOHD-2-err...

    And now...

I got my CD of HP recovery and ordered a new WD 500 GB HDD... same features as the seagate who pooped me and I can't get windows install on the new HD

No matter what I do, computer wants to open the Recovery Manager and according to the available procedure does not work.  It works me in circles asking for #1 drive, then the drive recovery supplement and back with no progress.

What I have to do is use this form: http://vistahomepremium.windowsreinstall.com/installnewhdd/installnewhdd.htm but only the Recovery manager opens when I boot from the CD.

    Anyone have any ideas?

If I followed your questions correctly... you had a BIOHD-2 error, ordered HP recovery discs, replaced the hard drive and tried to restore your system with no luck. Is that a correct assessment of the situation?

OK, you need to make a Windows Vista install screen... not who's going to go with your HP recovery CD/DVD. The disks do not contain the Windows installation routine, only the HP Recovery Manager. These discs contain more or less, an image of the HP installed OS and software, plus some drivers and applications. To the best of my knowledge, you should have three DVDs (1 of 3, 2 of 3 and 3/3) more an additional drive. You should boot from CD 1 of 3... Then, when asked to insert the 2/3... Then, when asked to insert 3/3. And finally if/when necessary additional drive.

  • Windows installation disc needs for a new disk hard but is not available

    Hello

The hard drive on my PC HP badly shot - he tells me I need to check for consistency, but it cannot and will not run chkdsk on a restart and will not let me create a restore disk.

OK, I accept that I need to buy a new hard drive but I have no CD to install Win 7. The pc has a partition called "factory secctings" but it will not create a cd of Windows or a restore cd or a Sun.

Microsoft has said that it is not available for me because my serial number includes the letters OEM. I had a case created at HP, and a person called me and said I should get the CD of the os from Microsoft, or from the store I bought from (Staples). Staples said they have no CD for Win 7 and cannot make me a. They said get them from Microsoft or HP.

The number of cases is 3016271460

See that I get nothing from Microsoft, HP, or Stqples. I never got a CD with the pc because, I guess, it's there on the partition to factory settings, but with the failure of hard drive I can't use it.

    All have a suggestion?

Your hard drive can hold the DEFECTIVE SECTORS.

The only way to get windows 7 disc is to buy a new Amazon / similar online stores / service centres.

    You can try this:

    ""http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/151566-reinstalling-windows-7-a.html#post1300819 " "

Browse the site and do the steps as shown.

I have a Time Machine backup to an external drive. It works very well. However, he was beginning to run out of space, so I bought a new, bigger HD.

I followed all the steps of Time Machine: how to transfer backups from a current backup disk to a new backup drive - Apple Support.

I then waited 12 hours for that copy.

Around midnight, I noticed the copy is complete. There was a message that iWork had not been copied because he needed a different operating system. But I rejected. There are no other messages.

I changed the Time Machine preferences on the new disk. And fell asleep.

This morning, I walked into a Time Machine.

Only the first date from July 2014, was on the new disc of TM. Then there was five times after midnight when the new drive was saved.

But there is nothing in any of the years between the first date and after midnight.

I know that there are hundreds of TM captures on the original disc. And I've used them very well.
