Installation of Win XP on a Dimension E510

I had my Dimension E510 since November 2005 and there is not if long hard drive 80 GB WD finally quit smoking. I bought a new 160 GB one and wait for it to arrive in the mail. My question is: I'll be able to install a copy of the full version of Windows XP on the E510 come my HARD drive or the BIOS somehow will not allow this?

I heard that the BIOS and the operating system is linked together for Dell PCs, not sure though. Any help is appreciated.

I recently bought a DVD/CD burner internal Pioneer (model DVR-1910LS) to replace the current CD Sony DVD burner.  Clarification on the pioneer can burn CDs and DVDs but my Sony Burns only CD

I removed the My Device Manager Sony Reader, shut down my computer and installed the new drive Pioneer.  On reboot, I get the following error message:

"Drive 3 not found: Parallel ATA, PATA-1 (PRI IDE slave)."

Press F1 to continue or F2 for Setup. »

I have to press F1 to continue, to go back to my device manager and click with the right button on my storage looking for new hardware devices.  It detects the new Pioneer device and takes about 10-15 min. to install drivers... don't know why it took so long but good.  However, when I go to 'My Computer', or my new Pioneer drive or my standard CD-ROM player appear on the screen.

At this point, I try to do a reboot to see if that will pull up the readers once again, but my computer is still frozen on the "shut down" screen for about 1/2 hour.  Then, I don't have a very wide power and back on but now the Device Manager does not recognize ONE of my DVD or CD ROM drives and still does not appear on "My Computer".

I reinstalled my Sony and which still works fine, but I really need the ability to burn DVDs on this new device.  Can someone help me?

  • Question about the installation of Win XP on Satellite Pro P200

    Hello

I have a lot of problems with Vista. First it took me a week to install my printer WiFi. (sollution: install local lpt1 as the printer, change port properties en gives a location network (computer/printername).)
Last problem: vista give no right to copy my USB hd protable with xp files.

Finally, I lost all hope and want to go back to xp.

Is there anyone with experience in the installation of win xp on this laptop. And is it possible to tell me the steps that you have been taken to do so.
Are there concerns as none have some drivers, things that do not work or problems with sata hd.

    Thank you

    Luke

    Hello

It's a difficult topic-> XP on Vista machines.

First: Yes, you can install XP on it because all the important factors are available (VGA, SATA, wireless, XP BIOS, BLUETOOTH) and that should be enough.

Because your computer has a BIOS for Vista (I guess there a) Please install the BIOS XP first and then start the installation of XP. In the case that your HARD drive is not recognized then you need to install the SATA driver during the installation of windows XP. The procedure is described in the statement of the Satellite L40-> XP installation, so if you want to install and problems SATA (HDD, not during the XP installation), you must check the installation instructions for Windows XP for a SATELLITE L40!

If you have additional questions, I recommend allows you to place your question here before doing something that may stop your nerves later. :)

  • My original OS 7 Home Basic Edition (purchased): problem of Installation of Win 10

Windows has AUTOMATICALLY upgraded to Win Ultimate who, as the replies received from your good end, has been described as false.

To date, I had downloaded (free) Win 10, but when installing, I received a msg stating putting touches of the original VER of Win 7 Home Basic Edition (which I bought) and then click Refresh.

Please notify: (a) I would require to REINSTALL my house 7 the CD database (since upgraded Ultimate is false since it was produced Acer OEM - SLP Win 7 Ultimate, and mine is customer built Gigabyte motherboard) before Win 10 could be installed.

    (b) if I didn't need to REINSTALL WIN 7 Home Basic, then how and where to insert the product keys (for Win 7 home basic) to allow the installation of win 10?

Windows 7 can not auto-level to a ultimate edition. He must intentionally upgraded or a non-genuine Windows 7 Ultimate product key has been used for the Express upgrade.

Your best option is to reinstall Home Basic, reactivate and then upgrade.

  • Dimension E510 video card upgrade

    Hello

I apologize if this isn't the place to ask this question, because I'm not too familiar with the forums.

I am currently using a fairly old Dell Dimension E510 system and hoped to upgrade the video card.  I googled under and turned off for a while now, hoping to find an answer today, but most of the results seem to date several years with links to maps is no longer in stock.  Knowing little about video cards, if someone here could offer advice on a replacement that will last me until I have buy a new PC later in the year, I would really appreciate it.

    My system features:

Size of Windows 7 desktop computer E510
Processor Pentium IV - 3.0 GHZ
4 GB of RAM (3.5 usable)
    Power 460 w (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002G1YPHK)
    Radeon X 300/X 550/X 1050 video card (chip Type: Radeon X 600 Pro)

If he has more information required of it, I'd be happy to try to provide it.  I think that the graphics card uses PCI Express, but to be honest, don't really know how to check if it is 1.0 or 2.0 or 2.1 (or what it really means).

With respect to a replacement of the video card, I mean really something sharp.  I imagine that the system he could not handle anyway.  I do a lot of games on the PC.  For most of World of Warcraft, which I would like to run a bit more smoothly.  It would be also nice to watch videos 1080 on YouTube without stutter constantly, but I don't know how much this has to do with the graphics card and how much has to do with her being just a really old computer.

I would like to spend less than $100 to replace, if possible.  As I said, I plan on getting a new machine later in the year, and it's more a stopgap solution until then.  Still, I obviously prefer the best shot for my money.

I was looking on Amazon, but I don't know if they are to be considered:
    -http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Mini-HDMI-Graphics-01G-P3-1526-KR/dp/B00549HZ7S
    -http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-PCI-Express-Graphics-100292DDR3L/dp/B004N3BH0C

The last seems to his price is great, but I know there are problems of compatibility with PCIE 2.1 and do not know if that would come with my system.

Thank you all for reading and for advice, suggestions or any help that you can offer.

    -Joseph

I would forget the last one (HD 5450).  Very low end and not much better considered as the new HD integrated graphics on computers today.  Also, forget the old 9800 GT.  It is not at all sharp.  Version 2.1 is compatible on motherboards 1.0, which is probably what you have.  If you play WOW, I would not go with the GT 520 either because it is very low end for any type of games.  I would watch the HD 6670 if you want something reasonable in cost and will perform well enough for WOW.  Your old Pentium 4 is just holding you back, however.  Here's a couple to watch and I don't think you need to spend more than one.

  • BSOD after fresh installation of Win 7, failure of page in the nonpaged area. Win 7 will not install

A day at the start of a program on my computer that I used for years without incident, the computer suddenly fell down, restarted, and I got the infinite loop of system repair. No change in hardware/software, don't know if a recent Windows Update has been installed. Once again, CPU, mobo, Vid, RAM are the same for the past 4 years.

After much frustration, I decided to just reinstall Win 7. So I deleted my partition, re-created a new partition and installed Win 7

In the last step of the process of installing Win 7, it says Setup cannot complete. It is then stuck in a loop of reboot with a BSOD page fault in non paged area.

I tried F8 on startup and choose Safe mode, but then he says that the installer cannot boot mode safe because the installation of Win 7 did not finish.

I tried to reinstall Win7 by removing the disc again, but I get the same results.

    What can I do?

HI - finally got the job. I had the computer to use only the GPU on board BIOS and was able to install. Somehow the graphics driver conflict when Windows is first installed and it kept crashing.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Trying to regenerate my installation of WIN 8

I am trying to update my installation of WIN 8. I have problems of pilot (optical drive and virtual disks) and I hope that this will help with.

When I try to WIN 8, it says that some files are missing, and I need to insert my media. It is a download and I have no disc to be inserted.
When I try to run the original downloaded file (Windows8 - Setup.exe), she prays for my product key. When I give him the key, it tells me that the key is an upgrade, and I can't move forward.
What I have going on here?

Thank you, Mary Therese K... With the help of another forum, I managed to get a new product code. With that, I used my previously downloaded file to renew my program to WIN 8. By doing this I have now all my back drivers where they belong and everything seems to be fine.

  • GeForce 8800gts, PSU and a Dell Dimension E510

I'm not an expert on the material, so I'll try and do that as clear as possible.

I have a system Dell Dimension E510, running a P4 3.0Ghz and 2.5 GB of RAM. I am looking to update my graphics at a Geforce 8800 card or an 8600.

I confirmed I have plenty of room for the 8800 card to fit my motherboard, but I am more concerned about my diet.

Now I looked around this forum for a definet response. Most argued that the stock of POWER Dell 305 block w is able to run a 8800 with no problems, while others were not so sure, he could and recommended that they improve their power supply to an Antec, since its been proven that they work with the E510.

I know that this has been asked before in the past and I'm sorry, but I just want absolute course before buying it, will be a run on the PSU E510 Geforce 8800? I don't plan on overclocking the card or something like that.
