Installation of Windows 8 media

Hello

I recently bought a G1 455 Probook and I would like to create the installation media of Windows 8 for it.  However, the configuration tool provided by Microsoft does not accept the OEM key spotted by my KeyFinder program. Does anyone know where to download the Windows 8 (unmodified) legally 64-bit installation media?

Hello:

I gave people this site for over a year...

https://docs.Google.com/file/d/0B0W9PBigPy94aVJWSndyTFNFMzg/edit?PLI=1

There is a daily download quota, then you may have to check several times a day when you can still access the file.

Also, I got a disc in the file and started from it.

Given that I do not own a PC provided with W8, I didn't test to make it work with the encrypted key of W8 in the BIOS

Everyone I gave it to the reports that it works very well with the OEM product keys in their PC.

The file works for W8 'standards' or Pro key.

This is the only site I know where you can get a working OEM W8 ISO download.

  • How to acquire the installation of Windows 8 media

I tried openSUSE dualboot with windows 8 on my laptop that somehow leads to a problem starting. To solve the problem, I had to do a clean installation of windows that wiped out all the data and hard drive partitions.

Now, the only problem is that I have a non activated Windows version 8 I can't activate.

Since I bought the laptop with windows preinstalled, which means also, I paid for the windows serial key (license) and I don't see why I should split up $ 200 to get a license that I already own.

I know that the warranty does not software but I also know that the manufacturer can provide the windows installation media for free or for a fee (since I already own it) on demand, so my question is: How can I make a request for the installation media, at what price, if any, and how he harvest?

You will need to contact HP Africa assistance on the link below.

    Call the phone number for professional laptops which I suppose for the Kenya would be 234 1 27 11 999 or + 27 21 427 3240.

Inform the representative of customer services that you need a set of recovery discs for your laptop professional and you will need to provide the model # and # of series.

  • (Inspiron 7720) Cannot be started on the installation of Windows 8 media in UEFI

    Hello

I just got a Dell's Inspiron 7720 (computers laptops 17 ") running on Windows 8. As usual, I want to reinstall Windows 8 myself to ensure that I have a clean install (and to be sure, I'll be able to do if I change my HARD drive). I want to do in UEFI mode and not in Legacy mode.

    • I tried to boot on Dell Windows 8 DVD (requested by phone, IE 8 64-bit Windows) by pressing F12 at startup: the only options are "Windows Boot Manager" and "Network Boot. No way to boot to DVD, Windows starts automatically.

I went in the "Bios" by pressing F2 at startup (Startup tab):

    • I tried to disable "Secure Boot": no result, kept this option disabled.
    • I activated the Option Rom legacy: a new menu "Legacy Boot: ' allows me to start on the drive of DVD, but housing starts of start-up Mode Legacy, which is not allow me to install Windows 8: the installer says my partition table is GPT, so I can't select any partition on my discs to install the OS.
    • I tried to add a boot option with the name of the Boot Option as ' CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive': is in the list of system files "PciRoot (0x0) / Pci (0x1F, 0 x 2) /Sata (0x3, 0x0, 0x0) /CD" or 2 entries like "PciRoot (0x0) / Pci (0x1F, 0 x 2) /Sata (0x3, 0x0, 0x0) /HD'." ""» I tried all. I left the "File name" line empty. No results: the CD begins to spin at the start and then the operating system starts 2 seconds later. I tried repeatedly pressing "Enter" immediately after the choice of my new boot entry in F12 menu, same results.
    • I tried everything above with the operating system on a USB stick (formatted to Fat32 using this http://www.servethehome.com/uefi-bootable-usb-drive-windows-8-windows-server-2012/), no result. The light on the USB is indicating activity for 2 seconds, then turns off when Windows starts.
    • I tried to start my DVD and my USB on a new Inspiron 660 (office): a line is automatically added in the F12 boot menu and I can start on the DVD or USB in UEFI mode (and I can reinstall Windows), so my devices seem not to be the problem.
I spent two hours on the phone with a Dell technician, and he was not able to solve my problem.
It seems to me that Dell has not even attempted to check whether their own DVD of Installation OS works on their computer
I think I need to write something in the "File name" box when you add a new Boot Option. But why? I forgot something?
Thank you in advance for the time you spent reading this.

OK I solved the problem. It's very simple, but obviously the bios needs an update: the one-time boot menu (the one launched by pressing F12 at startup) does not work in the UEFI.

So, how to start on the DVD in UEFI mode:

    • Insert the DVD into the drive
    • Start your computer by pressing F2 to enter the Bios
    • Go to the Startup tab
    • Add a boot option with the name of the Boot Option as ' CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive' and check that the 'CD' in the end enabled, as "PciRoot (0x0) / Pci (0x1F, 0 x 2) /Sata (0x3, 0x0, 0x0) /CD'." Let the empty file name entry.
    • Put the new entry before 'Starting Windows Management' in the UEFI Boot section.
    • Save and restart.
    • When asked, press a key to boot from the DVD. DO NOT USE one-time F12 BOOT MENU: by SELECTING ' CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive' will NOT WORK.
When Windows is reinstalled correctly, just change the new boot order or delete the boot entry you created before. Never use the single start menu unless you want to start in Legacy mode (it works).
I can't believe I lost so much time on this... I hope this will help.

Please help me and thank you.

    Hello

It seems that the Qosmio G20 102 belongs to the series of PQG20E.
Research on the European driver Toshiba page I found the RAID for Windows XP MCE driver v1.03.0008 (can also be used with XP Pro).

You will need an external USB FDD to include this driver in the operating system.
But note; After installing the RAID driver you shouldn't t format the HARD disk or create a new partition, because that will remove the RAID driver from the HARD disk and installing the OS fails!

I hope I could help you would also appreciate a feedback ;)

  • Why when I run the installer for Windows 8 consumer preview on my computer of Windows XP Home Edition he says: "this platform is not supported"?

Setup of Windows 8 consumer priview

Why when I run the installer for Windows 8 consumer preview on my computer of Windows XP Home Edition he says: "this platform is not supported"?

You can see this message if you downloaded Windows 8 64-bit and XP 32-bit. To start the installation of Windows 8, you will need to restart and boot from the installation of Windows 8 media.

If you want to keep your current installation of Windows, you can install it on a separate partition and dual boot with the Windows 8 Preview of consumer. To install on a separate partition and dual boot, you must create and boot from the installation media.

    (1) first you will need a free partition on hard drive - if you do not you can shrink a partition and create a new one to install Windows 8 Preview of consumer on.
To reduce a partition and add a new one that you can use EASEUS Partition Master (free):
    http://www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm

    (2) to install on a separate disk, you can perform an installation DVD or USB key, then boot from it so you can choose the other partition. To download the ISO file and install media:
Download Windows 8 consumer Preview ISO:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/ISO
After you download the ISO file - use the Windows USB/DVD Download tool to install media:
    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

    (3) installation on a separate partition for dual boot:
1 make a DVD or USB installation drive - to see the two options above.
    2. start from the DVD or USB install drive and click on install when prompted.
    3. during the installation process, when asked - choose a custom installation.
    4. Select a free partition on the hard disk to install Windows 8 Preview of consumer - this will install Windows 8 on a separate instead of your current Windows partition partition.
    5 continue with the installation.

    First of all please note:
1 consumer preview Windows 8 is a pre-release and will only work for a limited time - when it expires, you need to remove it.
    2. the overview of consumption is stable and has been tested, but it s not the finished product. Your PC may crash and you may lose important files. You should backup your data and you shouldn't test Windows 8 Preview of consumers on your primary home or business PC.
    3. If you install the preview of consumption on the Windows partition is currently installed, you cannot uninstall the preview of consumption. To return to your previous version of Windows, you will need to reinstall from the recovery or installation media supplied with your PC.
    4. in addition to dual boot, here are a few methods to install Windows 8 Preview of consumers without affecting your current installation of Windows:
    (A) remove your current hard drive and install the Preview of consumers on a spare drive.
    (B) install it on a spare computer.
    (C) install the Preview of consumer in a virtual machine.

  • Windows 8 start problem, due to an accidental installation of Windows XP on another partition

I had Windows 8 Pro on one partition and Windows XP SP3 on another partition for some time and I could choose which start. I decided to remove Win XP and format the partition on that Win XP has been installed. I tried to do it by using formatting option Win XP CD that appears before installation; However, I accidentally installed Win XP on the same partition. The problem is that my laptop is no longer recognizes Win 8 and begins on Win XP. I was wondering if by any chance I could collect Win 8?

Furthermore, the Win 8 partition is installed, is intact and healthy with all the files inside Windows. Also, I tried to update or reset the installation of Win 8 to help to win 8 DVD, however, it did not work; as a message appears saying that the drive is locked.

I thank very you much for your time.

    Impatience on your part.

    Hey Amir,

It seems that the boot loader is damaged. You need to install the earlier operating system first, and then install the latest operating system. If you do not have (for example, if you install Windows XP on a computer that is already running Windows 8), you can make your system unusable. This can happen because earlier versions of Windows do not recognize the startup files used in more recent versions of Windows and can overwrite them.

As you have reinstalled Windows XP on a computer running Windows 8, it has destroyed the boot loader.

    Follow these steps.

We need to rebuild the Boot Configuration data (BCD). For this we need an installation of Windows 8 media.  If you do not have an installation, you can create a.

    Refer to this article.

Follow the article above to download the installer of Windows 8.

To create the installation media, as a result of this article.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

Here are the steps to fix this problem.

    a. Insert the Windows 8 installation media and start the computer using the disc.

Note: You will need to consult the computer manual on how to set the CD/DVD drive as the first boot device in the BIOS.

    b. Once you start using the installation disk of Windows, on the installation of Windows 8 window, click on repair your computer.

    c. click Troubleshooting and Advanced options.
    d. Select command prompt. Type the following commands in the command prompt and press ENTER after each command.

    Bootrec /fixmbr
    Bootrec /fixboot
    Bootrec /scanos
    Bootrec /rebuildbcd

Once the order is complete, restart the computer.

    Hi again jmwebster,

We had a number of previous reports of the non-Microsoft browsers forum repeatedly truncating the download of the installation of Windows 8 media.  If you still don't have success with your most recent upload and you are not already using Internet Explorer, it may be worth your while to use IE for this download Windows Server 2012.  I have not passed through the procedure myself, but apparently if you use IE you should be given the possibility to use a download manager to manage the download and verify its integrity and passing by that the procedure seems to have led to more positive responses from users of the forum who have problems before and had tried to download several times.

    Good luck with it!

during the installation of windows 8, which upgraded the wizard asks to install now or install by creating media what the difference

When you install by creating media, allows to create a backup of a Virgin DVD USB or USB key installation files. (I recommend you do this in case you need to reinstall Windows 8 in the future).

If you choose to not, Windows 8 will be a non-media from your hard drive installation automatically.

Windows 8 simplifies the procurement process with an installer called Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant Web that makes it easy to download and create a local backup for future use. Digital distribution works this way, you download the installer, launch that and he will download Windows 8, the time it takes depends on the speed of your Internet connection ultimately. Microsoft noted that the Web Installer includes a sophisticated compression technology that downloads pieces in sections of 10 MB to ensure that its safe delivery. When you download the installer, the installer creates a folder called "WindowsESD" in the root of your drive C:\ (if you have multiple partitions that this case may be on another). From there, you will find a complete Windows disk image, you can burn it to a blank DVD and make your own physics, copy, or store it on a USB key.

Today, I had a Client who wanted to Downgrade to Windows 7 Windows 8 on a laptop HP Envy M6.  After that reading many articles about everyones unsuccessful attempts to install Windows 7 on this laptop, I had to respond.

    First Things First

    1. go into the BIOS and enable the Legacy Mode.

    2. under the Legacy boot order - have the CD - RW / DVD - RW DRIVE Boot First.

    3. restart the computer

    4. press the "ESC" button when she said HP or when it says press ESC for Boot Options

    5. Select "F9" for "Boot Device Options '.

NOTE: DO NOT SELECT THE ' INTERNAL CD/DVD ROM DRIVE (UEFI) - even knowing that you have your Windows 7 DVD in the drive

6 SELECT ' INTERNAL CD/DVD-ROM DRIVE (this is the Option to boot Legacy & is the difference between failure and success.

    7. install Windows 7 normally

PLEASE NOTE: DELETE ALL PARTITIONS ON THE DRIVE C, INCLUDING THE RECOVERY.  IF YOU DO DELETE A RECOVERY, THIS PROCESS WILL NOT WORK.

    8. upon completion of the installation of Windows 7.  Open the Device Manager.  You will notice that there are several devices that the drivers are not installed.  PCI device / Sm Bus controller / network card / adapter Ethernet / USB controller / USB Controller.

9 go to the following Web page of HP and install Audio / LAN / WIFI / CARD READER / GRAPHICS for Windows 7 64 bit, providing that you have installed a 64-bit Windows Version.

Don't forget not under "Input Devices" to download the card - reader This will install the driver for the PCI device in Device Manager.

In Device Manager - you'll end up with SM Bus controller and 2 USB controllers to install.

10 navigate to this Wepage Lenovo for the Bus SM AMD controller driver.  Download the file (DO NOT RUN) and install as usual.  Accept the license agreement.  After completing the driver installation, the device shows as installed SM Bus controller Manager (possibly after a reboot).
