Installation through dbca.rsp - unable to enable logging of archive during installation

I am trying to perform an automated installation of Oracle 12 c DB.

In the same dbca.rsp file that is provided with the installer of Oracle 12 c I don't see a place where I can specify to enable logging on the installed database and the location of archive logs archives.

In addition, below parameter when specified makes no different to the installer and it takes just the default location every time.

#-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

# Name: RECOVERYAREADESTINATION

# Data type: String

# Description: Location of the data file

# Valid values: location of the recovery area

# Default: $ORACLE_BASE/flash_recovery_area

# Mandatory: No.

#-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

RECOVERYAREADESTINATION = "Z:\oradata\flash_recovery_area\".

Am I missing something? Thank you

Your listener is not configured correctly, your server is missing a valid host name or your listener is missing entries of the database...

Well, I think you leave this parameter empty, like the YES program automatically detect the listener installed on the host computer and to configure!

  • Size of the log file Archive

Redlogfile size is 16 MB and generating the archivelog file size is approximately 10 Mb. what could be the reason?

    Oracle Version: 10.2.0.4

    OS: Windows

Published by: Deccan charger 19 April 2010 23:31

    First of all:

a redo log contains a lot of things necessary for instance etc. recovery an archived log is used only for the restorations - he didn't need all the stuff that is in a redo log, so when written CRA the archiving log that he does not write all knowledge, all that is required for restores

    Second:

Archive logs is created with dimensions smaller, irregular, as the original redo logs. Why? [388627.1 ID]

    Goal
Archive logs is created with dimensions smaller, irregular, as the original redo logs.
    Commands like:
    ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOGFILE
    or
    ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG...
are not used to generate archives or change the log file. Thus, there is no parameter ARCHIVE_LAG_TARGET set.
What else could cause this behaviour?
    Solution
    From:
Bug: 5450861: NEWSPAPERS ARCHIVE IS GENERATED with one SIZE SMALLER THAN THE REDO LOG FILES
the explanation of this situation has 2 main reasons:
1 archiving logs do not have to be in the same size. This was decided very long ago, when blank padding archiving logs stopped for a very good reason - in order to save disk space.

    2. the log command does not exist when a redo log file is 100% full. There is an internal algorithm that determines when to switch journal. It also has a very good reason - do the command of newspaper at the last moment may incur performance problems (for various reasons, outside the scope of this note).
So, after that newspaper ordering occurs the archivers are only copying the information from the redo log files. As recovery logs are not 100% full after the command to log and archive logs are empty not filled after the copy operation is complete, this results in unequal files smaller than the original of redo log files.
This is very apparent for very low (less than 10 MB) log files; as a result, produced 2.5 MB archive logs of 5 MB recovery logs are very visible.
Just note that currently, the default log files are 100 MB in size. If the archives log files would be between 98 and 100 MB person would notice.
The main concern that one must have for newspapers of archives files is a possible corruption. This can be easily verified by attempting a resumption of testing. When it's ok, the size of the log archive uneven should be of no interest, as is expected.

  • change log mode archive without closing the database

    Hi all

Is it possible to put the database in archive log mode before you shut down the database, and when the database stops and starts, the database should automatically be in log mode archive?

because we cannot stop the database in the days of the week and we have system restart the weekend and we are not here this day here. So is there a way to set the database in the log archiving across the memory so that each restart of the database, it should start automatically in log mode archive.

my environment is windows server 2008 R2 with oracle 11.2.0.3

    Thanks in advance.

You can write a batchfile as below:

    CD.
    sqlplus / as sysdba
    Select name, open_mode from v$ database;

When you run this, it will open up to sqlplus prompt but then will not run the query.

This is the reason why I am to know if there is another way.

If I click Start on the left corner and type in the search box to "enable journaling"... "Remote access preferences..." "The network connection file", it can be found only = no matches to your search items.

As long as there is no "network connection folder..." I went to the "network and sharing Center" and there, we have:

    -Connect to a network

-Set up a connection or network

    -Manage network connections

    -Diagnose and repair

As we can see, there is no Menu "Advanced".

I clicked on Internet Options and went to advanced.

There there is no "Remote Access Preferences" or "logging".

I looked on Google and Bing:

-They talk only about logging to start.

    Is this a misleading message?

You don't have to use the classic view (I do not use it, I prefer the modern categories), but however you prefer will work fine.

The menu bar (file |) Change | View | Tools | Advanced) required by pressing the ALT key to see since 2006 when Vista came out (and even all the way back to XP in Internet Explorer).  But alas, you reason - it was like 8 years old doesn't mean everyone knows as if by magic and those directives should not assume you know where is the menu.

Also - you are not see, but you have mentioned that you are inside the "network and Internet", and you must be inside "Network connections" as my show in the picture.  They are in fact two spaces of difference.

Here's an easy and direct way to ensure that you are in the right place:

    1. Press + R to display the race
    2. Type ncpa.cpl (that's the cammand for network connections Panel)
    3. Press OK to open the network connections folder, and then press Alt to display the menu bar with the Advanced menu.
  • RESOLVED - unable to enable IPv6 in Windows 7, so unable to connect to the homegroup - ZoneAlarm was the problem

My problem is that I can't turn on IPv6 in Windows 7.

My goal was to set up a homegroup three computers so that I can share a printer that is connected to one of them. They are all running different versions of Windows 7.  A desktop computer has created a homegroup, and a second desktop computer connected successfully to the homegroup and can print using the first computer printer.

The third computer is a portable computer. When you go to the homegroup settings page, it says that the homegroup is available. But this computer is unable to join when you click on the "join" button. The convenience store said IPv6 must be enabled.

Option is checked in the IPv6 network card settings. (The install button is also active and uninstall is dimmed. I don't understand why this should be as I have read that you cannot uninstall IPv6, if it makes sense for the uninstallation to be grey, why install would be an option? Confusion between.)

Here is what seems to be the root of the problem. In the registry settings, in the section IPv6 DisabledComponents is set to 255 (disabled). I change it to 0 (all features enabled), but I can't always connect to the homegroup. I restart the computer and the value 0 is changed back to 255.

I can't activate IPv6, it isn't surprising that the computer cannot join the homegroup as I read that this function requires IPv6.

Can any expert from Microsoft give me some advice on how to operate the homegroup?

    Thank you very much.

I have now found the answer to my problem. This is a setting in the free ZoneAlarm firewall. I will describe the solution in the case of meeting other people that.

I have the default setting of the version of ZoneAlarm is that it disables IPv6 when it starts. (I don't know if it's the same for all versions).

Although I tried disabling ZoneAlarm (and my separate anti-virus) so he was trying to set up group residential, just turn it off has no impact on registry settings - DisabledComponents is always set at 255 until you change to 0 and, critically, restart the machine. Then, the parameter 0 (enabled) will come into force. Or so it seems to me as a layman.

But if you did not disable the automatic startup of ZoneAlarm (like me) then as soon as you restart the computer, ZoneAlarm starts too and resets the 255, new registry entry to disable IPv6. If you can't join a homegroup.

The solution is to open ZoneAlarm and choose firewall, hand and advanced. Then you will see the option to activate IPv6 networks. When I didn't do the notebook had no problem joined the homegroup.

I don't know why I have the same problem on the second desktop computer. Maybe it's runnning a later version of ZoneAlarm to allow IPv6 - I haven't checked.

In any case, I spent hours looking for this solution, so I hope that the description above helps someone else that has a parameter of the problem until a homegroup because of what seems ZoneAlarm made IPv6 settings in the registry.
