installed xp, drivers lost, lost internet

installed xp again once, tried to go online, but couldn't.  Checked Device Manager and get big yellow? "s for ethernet, audio controller multimedia controller and 2 video controller drivers.  Drivers are not included, don't know what kind they are and can not go online to run diagnostics.  Cable modem works completely but not including the computer.  Help!

The XP cd is not all drivers to this topic, (unless integrate you them) this is why after an installed cleaning nothing works.

You should know what brand / model of the system / motherboard is.

Then go to the manufacturer's website. Look for the model. Then download / install the drivers. Install the chipset drivers before everything

    @John-Smith,

Thanks for the clarification. I went ahead and installed the basic printing software on my lab and managed to make some changes in the installer so that it automatically opens the online registration. See below:

Open the basic software download, click on the next button until you get the facility agreements and settings, here you have to click on the link that I've highlighted for you, see the image below:

Now once here, please uncheck the option I have pointed out, you can also choose to disable the other options here, I'll leave to you. See the image below:

Once you have unchecked the box to register online, click Next and continue with the installation.

    Hi MartyFenwick,

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. I will certainly help the question of fixing.

To help you suggest several steps to solve the problem, I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer?

    2. What is the brand and model of the mouse and keyboard?

    3. you receive an error code or message?

    4. is everything works well after running system restore?

    5. what exactly do you mean by "hadda restart in safe mode to use the system restore to just installing the sp1 b4?

    6. what happens when you try to play music CDs?

    7. what program you use to play the CD?

Please follow the methods and mark the question below:

Before you install SP1, follow the method 1 and 2.

    Method 1:

You need to perform a clean boot to prevent any third party conflicting application from interfering with your computer.

To put the computer in a clean boot state, you must follow the steps in the article mentioned below and check with the question.

Note: You must follow step 3 of the article mentioned above to recover your computer to a Normal startup after you complete all the steps.

  • EliteBook 840 G3: Elitebook 840 G3 clean install of Windows 8.1 - how to install the drivers?

I bought my laptop working from a former employer, provided that the disk was completely wiped out (no recovery partition or whatever it is) and so I need to do a full clean install.

I installed Windows 8.1 successfully for an external USB DVD. The system starts, but device drivers are missing, including wireless and wired networks.

On the website of HP, I downloaded the device drivers for this machine/operating system combination. These downloaded files are .exe files. I put them on a USB key so that I can transfer them to the laptop. I thought I'd install them as follows:

In the windows Device Manager, identify the network device, right click, select "install driver", point windows in the directory containing the .exe files downloaded.

It does not work. Windows does not recognize the files .exe as pilots.

Q1: I'm supposed to perform each of these .exe files (IE, which will install the drivers, and windows will then they are present?

Q2: Which of the 2.3GBytes drivers should I install? If I install the network drivers Windows will be able to "search the Internet" and find all the other missing drivers?

Q3: Is it possible to get an OEM installation disc that makes the entire process less painful?

Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

    You are the very welcome.

  • Install the drivers downloaded from a CD

A friend gave me his non-working HP Pavilion dv8135nr Media computer laptop under Win XP Home. I finally managed to do start, but missing drivers and other programs. Support of HP Recovery Kit is no longer available at HP and I can't connect to the internet with the laptop so I downloaded drivers from the HP on a CD site using my work desk. How to install the drivers on the CD to the laptop? Just double click to run each driver .exe file?

    Hello

Almost all of the drivers for Windows come as *.exe files, you can run them from CD, or copy them to the local HARD disk and run it from there.

    Kind regards.

  • I can't install the drivers in Windows 8

I installed Windows 8 Developer preview but I can't install the drivers, even in compatibility mode. They were fully compatible with Windows 7. It's really disturbing, because I can not connect to the Internet and to develop applications.

    From the download page:

The Developer Preview of Windows is a pre-beta version of Windows 8 for developers. These downloads include beta software that may change without notice. The software is provided as is, and bear you the risk of using it. It may not be stable, work properly or work the way that the final version of the software will be. It should not be used in a production environment.

Given that Windows 8 has not been released yet not all drivers will work with him. Some drivers are very precise on the version of operating system, you may need to wait until the manufacturer releases Windows 8 drivers (if they make it to your model).

If the compatibility mode option does not work, some drivers may be available by using Windows Update.

    Troubleshoot Compatibility
This can help with some (but not all the) programs/drivers:
    (1) uninstall the program, if it is already installed. Then when install you / reinstall instead of double click on the Setup file, right click and select 'resolve compatibility issues.
    (2) then click on 'Try recommended settings' and in the next window, click on "Start the Program" to install it.
    (3) after he set up see if it works properly. Note: some programs are perhaps not able to run in Windows 8.

  • Need to download the drivers from the Internet

My compaq v5000 has no driver detection for internet I guess I deleted them by accident. So, how to install all drivers for internet? In my device manager it shows? Internet concerns so I need to know what to do?

The Device Manager doesn't have an entry for 'Internet '.  There is no entry for "network adapters."  Assuming that's what you want, support for the Compaq brand is managed by HP.  HP maintains a fairly comprehensive site to download drivers for your computer.  Simply connect to:
Then click on the link "Support and drivers".
Then click on the tab "Drivers and software".
Enter 'Compaq v5000' in the product window and follow the prompts from there.
Finally, you will reach a page where you can download all of your latest drivers.

  • hard drive installation / do not install the drivers before that I installed Vista

I installed a new hard drive on my laptop and then installed my vista reinstallation cd before installing reinstalling drivers and utilities cd, and now some of my drivers are missing, especially for the wireless card, so I can't connect to internet / y at - it an easy solution for this?

Install now and they will update those that are currently installed, or install the drivers, some of whom are misssing.

Go to Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need to get drivers, get the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device or disc they provided but prompting directly from web site can be better because they may be more recent than those appearing on the disc. (NO Microsoft updates).  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.

    I hope this helps.
