  • Issue of INS-35354 when installing Oracle RAC 12 on infrastructure Oracle Grid 12

    Hello

    I am trying to install Oracle RAC 12.1.0.2 one node installation on Windows Server R2 2012, but the installer told me:

    'Valid [INS-35354] the system on which you try to install Oracle RAC One doesn't not part of a cluster.'

    On the same server I have is installed and running Oracle Grid Infrastructure + ASM.

    I don't know what is missing the installation program, which is possible to register? The installation program does not provide which had not passed the specific audit.

    Thanks for the tips

    Hello

    A CCR node does not mean that you install the grid infrastructure in a single node and install a base of a RAC data on this node.

    Basically, a concept CAR is similar to active passive clustering to provide high availability. To have a node database RAC upward and launched, you will have to install clusterware on at least two server by selecting the option during the installation of the IM.

    Pls follow the below post for detailed answer

    INS-35354: validates the system on which you are trying to install Oracle RAC not part of a group when installing a 12 c RAC node database

  • Installing Oracle RAC: Unix, Windows ASM nodes

    I have a question about the Oracle RAC configuration. I never did no prior installation RAC or ASM. Maybe a stupid question to some of you.

    Is it possible to install Oracle RAC with following options?

    2 node RAC with Sun Solaris
    Shared storage using ASM in Windows server

    Any additional information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    In very simple terms, when using ASM, database server process read the CRUDE device and process DBWR write devices ROUGH containing tablespace information. With ASM, these processes simply ask ASM 'where the disk read/write. Therefore, ASM provides simply a "table of contents". (It is much more than that, but this seems to be a good way to start the discussion.)

    ASM MUST run on the same computer as the database instance that is to use it.

    In your scenario, the Windows computer may be Server iSCSI providing raw devices to Solaris machines. These devices would then be managed by ASM and reading/praav1s directly by database processes.

  • How to check the version installed oracle RAC

    Hi all

    Y at - it a command or file to the version installed oracle RAC. I saw some post to the topic to connect to sqlplus and access the v version $ but I need a command that does not require database either upward. I mean, even if the database is down, I should be able to know the version of oracle RAC.

    Thank you very much for your help in advance,

    I must admit that I never installed Oracle without the GUI, but I strongly think it is works, no matter how you installed Oracle. opatch is one of the essential tools that comprise an oracle installation, without him you wouldn't be able to fix your installation.

    Hello

    Firstly forget Windows! Oracle is mainly designed for Linux systems. Oracle as a true process runs multiple on the Linux machines while under Windows, it runs as a single process with multi-thread.

    Using memory - huge pages, single CPU run queue, drop-outs, storage... etc are a lot of concepts.

    Also Windows is one of the most poorly designed operating systems, you must use only for watching movies of cute kitten on youtube... Believe me, you don't want to learn Oracle on Windows...

    Install virtualbox and then configure Oracle Enterprise Linux on it at first... By the way you have to deal with the DNS server of version 11.X, RAC, you can start with 10g for now.

    ORACLE-BASE has all the installation steps explained detailly, search for "oracle rac install base" on google.

    I also explained on my blog, but it is a little more advanced installation by using the ZFS storage Simulator. The DNS server installation is also explained: http://ilkertaysi.com/2013/11/11/oracle-rac-installation-with-zfs-storage/

    How long it worked until you killed the process?

    Your Oracle appear to be installed. You can run the wizard DBCA separately to create the database. If you choose the option default all, oracle takes a long time to create all the components.

    You can choose the "custom database" and choose your option and unnecessary option. It will be faster than the General database.

  • Oracle RAC 10g

    Hello

    The nodes specified in environment RAC refers to the instance or an individual computer. If it's then can an instnance I create database cluster with 4 nodes in one machine? or each node should be created in each machine?

    I'm getting confused with the terms...

    Please someone give a clear picture on this...

    Thank you

    DBA learning says:
    So is it possible to create the cluster framework in one machine?

    Dude you are missing the point. For the installation of CCR, you must installed clusterware. There may be a single node RAC, but it makes no sense to always have one node when you work / install clusterware also. Maximum capacity of the CARS come alive when you have at least a 2 - RAC Configuration node. Each node is a separate machine which can be eihter a real, physical machine or a virtual machine via any virtual machine software. But there must always be a separate machine.

    For your question, you may have installed on a single computer using virtualliztion software create virtual machines that work as physical of RAC machines.

    I suggest strongly that before playing with CARS, read you about it and make sure you understand the concept.

    Hi Prasanth

    Yes, that should be possible, but it's a production database or simply a test database.

    You can always control in metalink if supported, I don't think it is.

  • Regarding the Hangcheck timer configuration in the installation of Oracle RAC 10 g r2

    Yes, its recommended configuration hangcheck timer at RAC

    Configure the Hangcheck timer

    The timer to check block is loaded into the Linux kernel and checks if the system crashes. It than the timer and check the timer after a certain period of time. There is a configurable threshold to hang - to ensure that, if exceeded will restart the machine. The hangcheck-timer module is not required for the operation of Oracle Clusterware (Cluster Manager), it is highly recommended by Oracle.

    cat /etc/rc.local
    modprobe hangcheck-timer hangcheck_tick = 1 hangcheck_margin = 10 hangcheck_reboot = 1

    Check if service NFSLOCK works... and if not start it.

    # service nfslock status

    * Mounting for Oracle files options when used with NAS [359515.1 ID] devices *.
    Mounting for Oracle data files options

    rw,bg,hard,nointr,rsize=32768, wsize=32768,tcp,actimeo=0, vers=3,timeo=600

    For games of backups RMAN, copies images and Data Pump dump files, the "NOAC" mount option should not be specified - it's because RMAN and Data Pump do not check this option and specifying this can adversely affect performance.

    The following NFS options must be specified for 11.2.0.2 disc RMAN backup directory:

    opts="-fstype=nfs,rsize=65536,wsize=65536,hard,actime=0,intr,nodev,nosuid"

    Windows 7 is a family of operating systems. Oracle only works on some editions of Windows 7, as described in the doc to install to http://tahiti.oracle.com... and only Oracle 11 g R2 will install everything on those.

    also before making what is proposed on the url posted by Mufalani.
    It seems that you should do the following:

    Verify the existence of udev mapping rule file /etc/udev/rules.d/60-raw.rules brute
    On HR/EL5, gross udev mapping rule file /etc/udev/rules.d/60-raw.rules must exist by default as part of the util-linux package, for example:

    # ls /etc/udev/rules.d/60-raw.rules
    /etc/udev/rules.d/60-raw.rules

    Create a custom gross udev mapping rules file, /etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules say, for example:

    # touch /etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules

    3B. Add raw udev binding rules to the /etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules file
    Add the binding rules gross udev in the etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules file, for example:

    # cat /etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules
    # Raw bind to Oracle Clusterware devices
    ACTION=="add", KERNEL=="sd*", PROGRAM=="/sbin/scsi_id", RESULT=="360a98000686f6959684a453333524174", RUN+="/bin/raw /dev/raw/raw1 %N"
    ACTION=="add", KERNEL=="sd*", PROGRAM=="/sbin/scsi_id", RESULT=="360a98000686f6959684a453333524179", RUN+="/bin/raw /dev/raw/raw2 %N"

    If switch to RHEL5/OEL5 since an earlier version of Linux that has pressed persistent raw device bindings in the/etc/sysconfig/rawdevices file, the following script can serve as a basis to generate your RHEL5/OEL5 of the udev rules. Note that the script does not factor device name persistence.

    #!/bin/bash
    grep -v "^ *#" /etc/sysconfig/rawdevices | grep -v "^$" | while read dev major minor ; do
    if [ -z "$minor" ]; then
    echo "ACTION==\"add\", KERNEL==\"${major##/dev/}\", RUN+=\"/bin/raw $dev %N\""
    else
    echo "ACTION==\"add\", ENV{MAJOR}==\"$major\", ENV{MINOR}==\"$minor\", RUN+=\"/bin/raw $dev %M %m\""
    fi
    done
