Sorry, I'm new to this and I'm having a problem installing vCenter 5.1 has on Windows Server 2008 R2 by using the simple installation.  After completing the installation without mistakes, I starts the Web Client vSphere, connect and it comes up with no vCenter server and a message that says "to get started installation is a vCenter Server system or permission to access an existing vCenter Server system.  I'm on my 4th time well and it is consistent in the result, so I figure I should ask.

If it's important, Windows Server is not a member of Active Directory, DNS works forward and reverse, I tried the IP address and FQDN name.

I don't know where to be troubleshooting it.  It is my first installation of vCenter. I checked all the services, and they are running.

I watched some log files and it seems pretty clear that something is trying to talk about something and is to be rejected, but I have no idea why.

During the simple installation of vCenter Server 5.1 method, it will first install the SSO part. During this part, you will be asked to create a password for a user called admin@system-domain. Please note that this user is only for the management of permissions within the standards body. That's why you can't see any instance of vCenter SSO. After completing the installation of SSO, the vCenter Server installation will be lauch. During the installation, the wizard will ask you about the password previously configured for the admin@system-domain user, enter it, and then click Next.

Second, on the next prompt you should enter a global domain, user, or a local group who will be recognized by the SSO as vCenter Administrator service. Then complete the installation. In the end, make sure the "SSL Port" under the HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ADAM_VMwareVCMSDS\Parameters registry key is REG_DWORD with a decimal value of 636.

    See: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1023864

After that, open the vSphere Client or the webclient service, enter your vCenter Server server's FULL domain name and and a name/password user (domain\username), which has permission such vCenter administrator mentioned in part II.

    I hope this helps.

  • Can I install VCenter Server 5.0 on Intel i5-2400 with Win7 (x 64) machines for test?

I got a new Dell (Intel i5-2400/3.10GHz/RAM 16GB) with Win7(x64) and I want to install the VCenter Server 5.0 for the test,

but when I install on this machine, it shows that my platform is not supported the server VCenter 5.0.

Can someone tell me how can I fix it or is it possible install vcenter 5.0 in there?

    I appreciate your help!

    Hello

Surely this is not a problem with hardware, Hope it's problem with OS

I can't find VMware Comptibility matrix pdf for vsphere 5.

But does not support Windows 7 (x 64) installation VCenter 4 or 4.1.

  • SQL vCenter Orchestrator config problem

I recently downloaded and installed vSphere 5. I installed vCenter and added my esxi servers successfully. I'm trying to configure Orchestrator. When I connect and try to set up the database, I can not connect. I'm not sure what to put. I entered the ip address of the local computer, which is where I installed the vCenter server. When I installed vCenter he installed SQL 2008. I guess it creates the database for Orchestrator, is this correct. If this is not the case, what should I do to get this working. I downloaded SQL 2008 express manager but cannot even see that the database. How to solve this problem?

    Hello

The vCenter Server Setup does not create a database for Orchestrator.

Here's what you need to do to set up the database of the vCO.

First configure SQL Server Express to the remote connection. Here are the steps:

    http://pubs.VMware.com/vSphere-50/topic/com.VMware.vSphere.vco_install_config.doc_42/GUID-0F8AE76E-6BB0-4679-B597-973E4ECB8177.html

Then manually create the database of vCO. For SQL Server Express, you can use the osql tool (just search osql on the computer on which you installed SQL Server Express). The osql.exe file can be found here:

    C:\Program Files (x 86) \Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\Binn\

    or here:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\

The steps for creating a database with OSQL are:

    1. start the osql tool in a command prompt.

    (a) go to the installation directory.

    (b) type osql.exe EI

    (EI means approved connection).

    2. create the database of vCO, vco, for example.

    (a) on the first line type: CREATE DATABASE vco

    (b) on the second line type: GO

Finally, you can configure vCO to work with SQL Server Express using the interface Configuration of the vCO. The steps to do this are provided as examples in the subject to: http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-50/topic/com.vmware.vsphere.vco_install_config.doc_42/GUID841EB9F0-2CBC-44E3-9AC2-4EBAE36F6942.html

    I hope this helps.

  • Do not know where to install vCenter - VMs are domain controllers

We have a small network with two physical servers, running two virtual machines. I'm unable to install vCenter on these, because an error is thrown that vCenter cannot be installed on a domain controller. I have a workstation is just used to manage the virtual machines and have the vSphere client installed in addition to vRanger Pro connection. The problem with installing vCenter on this machine is vRanger connection vCenter recommends NOT to be installed on the same system. All other systems on the network are workstations that have connected users throughout the day. Y at - it an option that I'm on?

    Thank you

Perhaps the simplest is to set up an additional VM on which you are installing vCenter Server. Since the VMware version 5.0 introduced the vCenter Server Appliance that eliminates the need for an additional Windows license. However, as I know the vCenter Server Appliance is not supported by vRanger connection again!

  • Installing Vcenter on Win2k8 R2 Enterprise in workstation

    Hi guys,.

    I am trying to configure Vcenter on my laptop at home for study purposes;

I have ESXi works well, so my cpu HW is very well that works a treat.

Now, I've built a Win2k8 64 bit R2 Enterprise Server (2 GB of RAM a lot of drive).

    I did the server a Principal to the AD domain controller, however;

When I try and install Vcenter he tells me that the product cannot be installed on a 64-bit operating system?

Please find below the screen to confirm the error and operating system settings.

    Any help or advice appreciated.

    Hello.

You cannot install the vCenter on a system that is also a domain controller.  That's the problem.

    Good luck!

  • Installing vCenter 4.0u2 with the remote server in SQL2008

I've been running vCenter 4.0 for awhile with SQL Express on the same machine.  I installed SQL Server 2008 on a remote computer, detached and attached the SQL Express database to that server.

I've implemented the SQL 2008 database with a SQL rather than a domain account authentication account because our domain accounts will expire every 90 days and I have no control over making an exception to this policy.

I have tried everything point vCenter 4.0 to the new database using the instructions in the knowledge base, but it has always failed.  So I just uninstalled (who also failed and I had to manually get the rest but this is not the point of this post).  When I go to install vCenter 4.0u2 with SYSTEM defined as the user vCenter (again because of limitations of domain account and expire 90 days), it gets all the way up to the

    "

25003.Setup failed to create the vCenter repository"

and then breaks down.  It's probably something with the user accounts on SQL authentication and vCenter Server does not, but how can I work around this? If I do a local account on the vCenter server with the same name and password on the vCenter server and run it like this account which will solve the problem?

Check here also, not exactly the question, but it can help to point you in the right direction.

  • Installing vCenter

I just installed vCenter server as a test and I'm confused.  It doesn't look like anything, as I expected.   I don't see programs for Orchestrator.   I don't remember any of this during my training for vSphere and vCenter.   At I have download the wrong application?  I used to work with VirtualCenter and ESX3.5 and the vCenter application that I've been around in class looked remarkably like VirtualCenter and I don't remember installing shoot all Orchestrator components.

HTTP to the IP address of your server vCenter Server, then download the vSphere Client.

Once you have installed the vSphere client, then use it to connect to vCenter.

All this happened after I tried to install a new update Apple iTunes. He kept saying that he could not install... I tried several different things to solve this problem, including doing a system restore in frustration, for 2 days before today... I tried to update iTunes, not always the case. Help, I'm a no techno, so please do not just refer me to somewhere else, I will never understand what I'm told to do, whenever I am sent somewhere else, I can't solve my problem & give up in frustration. If you have not had luck in iTunes (https://discussions.apple.com/community/itunes/itunes_for_windows?view=discussions#/?tagSet=1234) forum, uninstall and reinstall iTunes as described below:

To perform a "clean" iTunes installation uses this technique proposed, from Support of Apple HT1926 article.  (If you are using Vista, see THIS instead).

Go to control panel > Add/Remove programs
Remove these applications in the following order (do not restart your computer if you are prompted during this process):

    1 iTunes
    2. Apple Software Update
    3. Apple Mobile Device Support
    4 Hello
5 Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)

    6. iPod for Windows (this may or may not exist, be it, it is not necessary, then we can remove it)

    7. iPod Updater

    8 QuickTime

Open my computer > C: > Program Files
    Delete these files (if present)
    1 iPod
    2 iTunes
    3 QuickTime

Follow these steps if the message "cannot delete iPodService.exe: it is used by another person or program" appears when you try to delete the folder of the iPod.

    1. Make sure that you have iTunes and iPod Update utility are not open.
    2. Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete.
    3. Select Start Task Manager.
    4. Click the processes tab.
    5. Locate the iPodService.exe in the list.
    6. IPodService.exe-click and choose end process.
    7. Quit Task Manager.

    Empty your temp directory:
Open my computer > C: > Documents & Settings > username > Local Settings and delete the contents of the folder called "Temp".

If you don't see the local settings, enable hidden files:
Tools > Folder Options > view tab
Select Show Hidden Files & folder, and then click OK

Once this file is empty, restart the computer

NOTE: If you have trouble uninstalling applications, or if you have a problem, reinstall iTunes because the installer complains that it can not uninstall the current version of iTunes, see the 'Installation issues' section below.

Download & reinstall iTunes from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

    Installation problems

There are several tools to deal with problems installing or uninstalling applications.  If you have these problems, the following should help.  Before using one of these tools (including #3), you must create a restore point from the system first (or back up the registry with C:\WINDOWS\ERUNT).  See http://windowsxp.mvps.org/registry.htm a complete disk image would be safer if you have this ability.

1 Microsoft has a program install and the resolution of the problems of the uninstalling which is supposed to "work better" and be "safer" to use the old Install Cleanup Utility (3 below).

    2. free Revo Uninstaller.  You can also download a trial version of uninstaller Revo's ' Pro', which has a few more aggressive cleaning options, but this should not be necessary.

3 Microsoft Windows Install Cleanup Utility.  Although this tool has been the preferred tool to deal with the problems of Windows Installer, Microsoft removed from Microsoft download servers because it seems sometimes deleted more than he was supposed to (I believe this was linked to Office uninstall).  You can still get Windows Installer Cleanup here--> http://majorgeeks.com/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility_d4459.html utility

    Hi MrGreener,

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

2 are you able to install all other updates on the computer?

    3. do you have security software installed on the computer?

    4. you receive an error message while updates?

    Method 1

I suggest that you manually download and install updates, check if it installed correctly on the computer.

Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 on Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP

    Method 3

If the previous step fails, then it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
